Wallander is a BBC crime/drama miniseries adapted from novels by Henning Mankell.

The show stars Kenneth Branagh as police inspector Kurt Wallander, and also features Sarah Smart, Tom Beard, Tom Hiddleston and Sadie Shimmin as Wallander's colleagues.

Throughout the movie-length episodes, we follow Kurt Wallander through professional triumphs and setbacks and also the strained encounters with his father and daughter.

Wallander has two seasons and six episodes to its name so far (with a third season due out this year).

I've enjoyed the series so far, but it is kind of jarring that its in English whilst all writing (signs, e-mails, etc) are in Swedish. Also, I'd like to know more about the supporting characters.

I love Wallander. But I may be biased because I think Kenneth Branagh is brilliant.

The whole 'writing being in Swedish' thing does amuse me somewhat. In a way it's like it's being dumbed down because we're too lazy to read the subtitles. Like the re-makes of The Killing & Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Yeah, I think it's to appeal to a wider demographic because, while it's not a good thing, some people won't watch movies/TV with subtitles.

Do you have a favourite episode by the way?

My favourite season so far is the first, though that might be because it was still shiny and new for me then. I don't really have a favourite episode, though I liked Isa in One Step Behind.

One Step Behind is actually my favourite episode :)

I just found the little plot twists refreshing.
I thought it was good how Martinsson was the one to shoot 'louise', though I figured it was going to lead to Martinsson finally being accepted more by Kurt, but in the second season things were still kinda tense. And he's not even going to be in the third season.

Anyway, I love that Kurt reacts to tough situations with real human emotion. I despise tv shows/ movies that have the cop characters completely devoid of feeling.

I read that they're doing The White Lioness for season 4, which should be interesting as part of it is set in South Africa.
