How casual/dressy would you consider this to be? This is the first dress I've bought in a while that's not for a specific occasion, and I can't figure out when would be a suitable time to wear it. tehe

(Reposting because the other post was deleted in the crash.)
I'd say it was more casual than dressy - you could wear it out shopping or something, for instance, but you could probably wear it to a smart-casual sort of occasion too.

Even though I'm 15, I already know what I would like to do. I would like to have a major in English language/Literature and a minor in EALC (East Asia Languages and Civilizations). I would also like to attend the University of Chicago. I was looking on their website for their Majors and Minors, but I'm a bit confused. For both, it says may be taken as a Minor. And for the EALC, it says it's a interdisciplinary course. Does this mean I can choose either or for each minor/major? And what does interdisciplinary mean for that degree?

Sorry if this seems stupid, I'm a bit confused. Thanks! Here is the website

^Yes, it means either can be a major or minor. It looks like they just didn't want to be bothered making a separate list for available minors, so they just added "May be taken as a minor" for any major that could also be a minor.

Interdisciplinary just means combining multiple fields of study. I'd guess what it means in the case of the EALC major (and probably minor) is that you can take courses in things like history and literature and they'll count towards the major/minor. Like, I'm doing an anthropology minor, but not all the classes that count towards fulfilling the minor's requirements are in the anthropology department; one was a communications class and another was an American studies course (whereas if I'd done say a psych minor, only psychology classes would've counted towards the minor because it isn't interdisciplinary).

^ Oh, that makes a whole lot of sense. So for the EACL degree, would I have to take some courses in history and all that?

^It says here (under "Minor Program in East Asian Languages and Civilizations") that you'd need to take seven courses for the minor, three of which could be language courses, and then if you scroll down more there's a list of language and EALC courses – it looks like there are enough that you wouldn't have to go outside the EALC and language departments to fulfill the minor, but (presumably) you could if you wanted to.

Is anyone else having issues seeing some of the avatars on here? I don't know if it's just my browser or a result from the server crash. I've already tried disabling and enabling plug-ins in my settings but nothing is changing.

Is there anywhere else I might have luck finding a dance atmosphere as opposed to a club? My boyfriend doesn't turn 21 until September, so we'd have to go out of state to find a club and since he doesn't even like the idea, I doubt he'd be willing. There are no under 21 clubs in our area.

Yeah I couldn't see a bunch of them last night but I can see most of them now.

Do wrist tattoos hurt? I've heard they do but I don't really trust the source that told me.

^ I can't use any personal experience but the less fat there is between the skin and the bone, the more the tattoo will hurt.

Home remedies? Camomile or ginger tea, or even mint leaves. Crackers, bread and toast should help too with the acid. Tablets wise I only know of pepto-bismol but I've never seen it anywhere.

It must have been from the server crash then. Hopefully whatever is stopping all of them from showing up correctly gets fixed soon.

All tattoos hurt. I know it's an annoying answer but no one can really say how much it'll hurt but through experience. Everyone's nervous system and pain threshold is different, so where some people probably find them excruciating, others find them to not be too bad.

What it comes down to is how bad you want it versus how much you're worried about the pain. Think about which one weighs out the other and in the end, you might be pleasantly surprised anyway. Also, remember that it'll be a small amount of pain versus a lifetime of an awesome tattoo. Not to mention the amount of people who've had wrist tattoos and been a-okay; by that logic it can't really be that bad. (I have a very rational approach to pain.)

Can anyone help me think of anything that’s iconically/stereotypically British? It's for an art project that celebrates British culture and I can't really think of much. So far I have:
    - the ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ posters
    - tea
    - The Queen and the Royal Family in general
    - red/double-decker London buses
    - red phoneboxes/booths

If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great. Cute

I have wrist tattoos, as well as a few others. To me, the wrist tattoos were more 'uncomfortable' than painful. Particularly when the needle gets close to the bone. But as for the actual pain, my back hurt worse. If you're worried about the pain, just be sure to tell your artist ahead of time. They'll generally try to talk to you (if you're alone) to distract you and they'll let you know to let them know if you need a break.

I'd add in additional aspects of "British" culture which might not be addressed. Like Scottish, Irish and Welsh cultures.
