Books That Would Make Great Movies

Any of your favourite books that you would love to see made into a movie?

Cormac McCarthy's The Crossing. Because the book itself is already visually and figuratively stunning. Great landscapes, beautiful but painful storyline, steady pace in rhythm with your pulse as you read. Directed by Clint Eastwood. Now who wouldn't want that to happen?

I am rereading all the books I use to love in 9th grade, and going on the theme of dystopia societies, I think Scott Westfeld's "The Uglies" would be interesting to see.

I just read Ready Player One. I would play the main character in that movie.

The Mysterious Benedict Society. The whole series. I loved them and I think that they would do in the theatre.

"Life After Genius" by M. Ann Jacoby (I believe)
My brother bought this book at a dollar store, and later made me read it.
It's an odd story, the protagonist is a genius son of a family of undertakers, he goes to college at 16 and teams up with an old eccentric professor to either prove or disprove a mathematical theorum, all the while hallucinating visitations by Einstein, and struggling to figure out a student who is both too charming, and emotionally derranged, it ends at such a strange note I was angry for weeks. It would make a great movie.
I have dreamcasted the leading role of "Mead" to Jesse Eisenberg.

"Love and Mr Lewisham" by HG Wells
This, so far as I know, has never been made into a film, and that's a shame because it is incredible.
It is full of humor, sometimes absurd ("I'm thinking of burning Bishops in hot oil"), it has a lot of great tention between characters, and I was genuinely conflicted by the ending.

Kind of late in a reply to this comment, but I loved that series minus the fourth book that we won't talk about 'cause I pretend it didn't happen and would love to see it turned into movies.

However I'm not certain how exactly they'd go about filming it. I say this, because of how drastically the characters physically change when they go from 'ugly' to 'pretty'. I'm wondering if they'd do seriously intense make-up/prosthetics or just flat out CGI, or if they'd just cast different actors. It could be done really well, or it could just deeply hurt me. One of the two.

One book that I'd love to see turned into a movie is Keeping You A Secret by Julie Anne Peters. It'd be fairly easy to film, and I think it could be really cute and sweet.

O Bom Inverno (translates to The Good Winter) by portuguese writer João Tordo is one of the books I would love most to see as a film. It's has suspense/thriller plot, so it fits much better on screen; besides, both the characters and the setting are visually striking and very, very detailed, and a lot nicer to see than read about (like Budapest, which is a fantastic city, and the south of Italy).
Mostly, I think with a good director it could absolutely outdo the book. The only setback would be naming the protagonist, since his name is never revealed throughout the book (which really messed with my head for a while, to be honest). Other than that, it would be easy to film, though the travelling and the destruction of a wall (and possibly a car, too) would probably be kind of expensive.

To be honest, I don't really want any of my favorite books turned into movies because I'm afraid that they'll get ruined, if that makes any sense.

"I Was a Teenage Fairy" by Francesca Lia Block. It has indie hipster flick written all over it. (Her "Dangerous Angels" series would be a good one too.)

Also, "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown. They made it into one and it sucked but it could be really good if done right.

"The Messenger" by Markus Zusak. I would go and see it for sure.

"Tithe" by Holly black, I feel this movie would make it big because Kaye's got this really...punk kind of lifestyle, and ugh. I love it, okay?

“Wings” by Aprilyn Pike.

I really loved the series. I could definitely see this book as a movie. That's how it felt reading it. Like you are just fully immersed in it. Well to get the effect I got from it, was listening to “Night Visions” by Imagine Dragons nonstop

Fallen by Lauren Kate. It's the only book I like that hasn't been made into a movie. I wish they'd make movies for the rest of the Lemoney Snicket books as well because A Series of Unfortunate Events was all I read as a child.

I think if it was done right, Catcher in the Rye would make an excellent movie. I'm actually shocked it hasn't happened yet. I'm guessing whoever owns the rights won't allow it.

I have a few books that I think would make great movies.

1. Runner - Robert Newton.
2. Once -Morris Gleitzman. the whole Once Series would be great as movies.
3. The Maximum Ride series - James Patterson.
and last but not least The Mistress of Rome - Kate Quinn This would make an amazing movie if done right

Bound By Night/Bound By Blood - Amanda Ashley

There was this book I read not too long ago that I thought would make a great thriller movie. Can't remember what it's called though :\

I really want them to make the rest of the Vampire Academy books into movies. I know the first adaptation wasn't that popular (I don't know why!), but ugh, the rest of the books are SO AMAZING. I really want to see them on the big screen. I also want to see the rest of the Series of Unfortunate Events books made into movies!

I think Holly Black's The Coldest Girl in Coldtown and Richard Kadrey's Sandman Slim series would both be excellent movies.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, I think, would make a great YA fall teen, supernatural movie. Easily filling in the spot of the Twilight movies and bringing a new look into the vampire film genre. And I think it's something that would actually be easy to translate into film.

And I would just really like to see Sandman Slim in the flesh. The series already has six books that could easily hold their own as separate movies. Even though each book has a different plot/problem, it also has a great overall plot that move effortlessly from book to book. And, there's already a perfect Candy.

I would honestly love to watch a movie based on one of Chris Wooding's books. If I had to pick one, I think it would be his Poison. It's a fantasy adventure story with a great suspense and plot. It would be amazing if someone could make it a movie that does the book justice it truly deserves.
