I understand the whole magical concept, ahha. It's such an amazing process. Being a first time mommy I'm terrified, but I loved Antonio the minute I found out I was pregnant.

It's so nice to see so many proud mums in this group! I've got 10 days still my 20 week scan (Though I'll only be 19w's and 5d's when I have it). I'm pretty sure it's a boy.

Right now I'm trying out stretch mark creams. At the moment I'm using 'Just4mums' and it seems to be doing the trick!

@agathokakological.. oh thanks for the reminder of stretch mark creams lol. I haven't gotten them too much, but something tells me I'm gonna be lathering it up the whole third trimester when I really stretch haha

I have my glucose test next week as well as my ultrasound, a bit nervous, but I think I'll be fine. I thought it was supposed to be this week, but it got rescheduled...again :P

also can't wait to take this damn foot cast off the week after that!

I've already got so many ideas of what I'm going to do, such as I've going to breast feed throughout the day, and give the baby a bottle at night to fill them up! (that would depend on how the baby takes it)

When I go into labour, I'm going to try and stay at home for as long as possible before going into hospital. I think that may change depending on the pain. My mum went to hospital at the last moment with all of us (4 kids) and she had us all within an hour when she was in the hospital.

I'm going to try the gas and air, depending on if it's okay or not. I know my mum and sister felt like they weren't in control, so they decided against it.

I have lots of ideas, which all depend, and may change. At the end of the day, you don't know what kind of child you'll have, and peoples experiences may change your views.

^sounds like me lol I have way too many ideas floating around at the moment. Although I must say staying home as long as you can actually seems like an interesting idea...

I think it's because when I became pregnant, my mum was telling me about her experiences - she didn't go straight into hospital, she went and had a bath (mad woman).

Plus, hospitals don't like you coming in till you have to, due to the amount of space they have on the ward.

What ideas have you got? :)

It must be different in Great Britain, but in the US I've never gotten that vibe from maternity wards, especially if you're a new mother and don't know what you're doing or what to expect. It's not abnormal to go in as soon as your water breaks or your contractions are repetitive.

I'm in London, so the hospitals are normally packed, and due to nurses getting rubbish pay, they're aren't a lot of them. I think it's always been that way, even when my mum had my sister 20 odd years ago, they'd prefer you to wait till you had to go in.

They wouldn't turn you down if you did go in, but there may not be room for you, so you'd just be stuck in a room waiting till somewhere was available. I can understand why, I mean once you're in hospital, if anything did happen you'd be around people who knew what to do.

You do need to go in, because if your back waters break, you aren't having the baby but you can get an infection because of it.

My MW has asked me wait until the contractions are more rapid, and then go to the hospital.

Well I'm in California, and even going to the ER I was sometimes pushed back, so I could imagine that happening when I give birth honestly.

I'm planning to breastfeed also, and I end up going back to work after my three month period, I'd have to pump at work and such. I'm also planning to co-sleep and things like that :D

I want to be bold and tell you we've opted for natural birth lol so hopefully it can stay that way! I don't really want to depend on an epidural. I really wanted a water birth! But my insurance won't cover it -_-

Just a couple ideas at the moment ha.

I didn't go in until about 16 hours after my waters broke, I was about 6cm at that point.

Do you have to be more, or less dilated before you push? That's always confused me!

More. Dilation is expansion in itself.

Thanks! The only thing I'm worried about, is that my sister tore - apparently the MW told her to push before she was dilated enough.

She said the stitches are more painful than the labour.
