I had stitches and they were fine. It's always a bit painful right after but I didn't find it too bad. Plus having an adorable baby to distract you definitely helps!

After all the pain you go through, I think seeing the baby at the end, it'll all be worth it.

I think I have a lot of fears, and I've heard bad and good things from people. I know I'll be different to others as we all are.

I'm not currently pregnant, but my sister, Eden, is. And, a few days ago while we were chatting she told me about plans to not have her husband in the same room while she's giving birth. She hasn't told this to her husband yet, but I imagine he'll be quite upset. I brought up to her how important the birth of his daughter will be to him and that the baby is his, too, after all. And she explained that if she's more comfortable with giving birth without him there and how comfortable she is will effect the safety of the birth which will in the end bring better results than, of course, being uncomfortable.
Anyways, what I wanted to know is:
Has anyone else done this? Willingly excluded their husband/boyfriend from the birth of their child? What are your thoughts?

In the end, obviously, my influence has nothing on my older sister, but I was just curious as to if this is often done or whatever, you know? Think

I didn't let my sons biological dad be there but we weren't together and he was a dodgy guy. We aren't in contact anymore so it's definitely different. I can understand how that'd be hard for the husband because it's a really big bonding moment for him and the baby.

At first I was a little embarrassed but there's no way I'd exclude him from the birth, nor would he actually be okay with me not letting him witness it, he'd go off his rocker, especially after all he's done for me concerning the baby lol. Is there a reason why she isn't comfortable with him being there? Or is she just self-conscious, ya know because of being so exposed like that...?

I've heard of women preferring to not have the father present during the birth. Women have differing reasons; from insecurity, to traditions.
I plan on having my fiancee in the room during the birth, though we're hoping to have a caesarean section.

I know the time would be embarrassing and all, but I've decided, and told him, I'm leaving my pride at the door and collecting it when I come out. :P It's his first child, and I wouldn't forgive myself if he wasn't there. When that baby comes, I want all the people in that room that will give them unconditional love. I want my partner and mother to be there.

When I'm due, my partner has got work 3 hrs away, and I'm due over x-mas, so he may not even make it, if so, I'm asking my sister.

I think because he can't carry this baby (ofc) he feels like he can't do a lot, and even though he can't do a lot in the birth, just being there helps so much.

Reading through this thread has made me realize how much I miss being pregnant! It's one of the most amazing experiences to have.
My partner was in the room with me and so was my mum when I went in, I kept shouting at him because his hands where too hot :/ barely let him touch me until I was actually pushing.
I had to have stitches, two in two out, they weren't that painful but even if they were, would serve me right for not doing as I was told haha.
@Agathokakological.. If you're planning on breastfeeding through the day and topping baby up at night with a bottle, be careful as baby may decide that he/she prefers formula to breastmilk and may refuse anything but formula :)

Ooo, I never thought of that! I may just stick to breast feeding. One extra feed to send him off to sleep won't hurt! Thanks for the advice. ^^

No problem hunni :) If you give him around 6-8 feeds through the day, he should be fine through the night may wake up a couple of times for a top up but if he doesn't he will sure make up for it in his first feed :)
My little ones breastfed, I wanted to feed him on demand but had to get him into a routine 'cause he was a bit jaundice so I started feeding him every two hours for half an hour, for the first couple of weeks he only woke up a couple off times for a top up then by the third he was sleeping all the way through & now has a mega feed in the morning and then tops up through the day. If it's a hot day I give him a bit of water in between his feeds, otherwise i'd constantly have him on the boob haha.
Awh that's a gorgeous name :) have you signed up to bounty? x

I was just planning on giving him one feed at night just to send him off, and then when he wakes up give him breast milk. My midwife advised me to do that, but wait till he's 2-4 months old just so for the first few months he gets the goodness of being breast fed without the worry of him wanting the bottle.

Thank you. ^_^ I haven't signed up for it yet due to me moving soon, but as soon as I'm moved I'll sign up to Bounty/a new doctors etc..

Oh my gosh, you're tiny! :P

I started showing at 12 weeks (I was worried it'd turn out to be twins :P) and I had quite a bump but it looked very round and neat (until the last leg).
