Yeah, I see where you are coming from. And I'm not saying that all smokers don't respect non-smokers because that is not true. There are a lot of people who try to smoke away from others, but then you have the ones who smoke in a non-smoking area which has been declared a non-smoking area for the health of others. Thats when I get made because the people don't seem to care at all.

    I agree with Die.

I'm a smoker, although I don't smoke as much as I used to.

I do however respect the people around me and won't smoke if I'm with one of my friends who I know doesn't.

I should probably stop though seeing as I have really bad asthma.

I'm just ignorant and remain under the impression that I won't get cancer.

In Europe the smoking problem is even worse than it is in the United States. It's so bad there. We would go to the subway, on our way to school or whatever, and there were advertisements that said [in Spanish]: "You don't smoke for the eight hours you're asleep. Why should you need to on the subway?" And people would walk by, puffing away. Throwing their cigarettes at the sign.

The smoking problem in Spain has actually gone down quite a bit since I've been there last, according to my parents. But in France, Italy, Germany, I know it's still really really bad.
There is a big problem with smoking up in Scandinavia as well. When I was an exchange student I attended a language school for the first few weeks and they had the little "No Smoking" signs absolutely everywhere through the building, but still you'd walk into the corridors and into the bathrooms and they'd reak of cigarette smoke. It was so disgusting, sometimes it made me feel sick to the stomach.

I also use to hate going to clubs because the next day when I came home I would smell of cigarette smoke, whether I had touched one that night or not.
In Scandinavia I think it's because it's so damn cold...In Canada that's why it is, I think.

But yeah, smoking is getting better overall I think. In Spain it is...

my father used to smoke but quit 23 years ago
i feel it is up to the person
it is a right and they can if they want to
and it should also be up to buisinesses to decide whether or not they would like to have smoking and it shouldnt be up to the government
i myself will never smoke though

    Why not?
The government not only has a duty to their customers and staff, but a duty to every single person in their country. They have a duty to protect public health.

Smoking in public buildings is illegal in Britain, which I think is cool. It never really bothered me much before, but I hardly love the smell of fag smoke so whatever is best for public health I guess.

My municipality banned smoking not only in public places, but within 30 feet of any public building. It's a lot better, but no one abides by the 30 feet thing. Still, it's been worse...

My grandpa died of cancer from secondhand smoke. My grandma was the one who smoked. She's still alive and no longer smokes. However, a very close friend of mine told me she's recently started smoking and drinking, and I'm really worried about her.

My parents used to smoke but they quit almost 10 years ago. My brother smokes. My Aunts on both sides of my family smoke. My Uncles smoke. I've been around cigarettes my whole life. My brother told me that if I ever smelled like smoke, he would kill me, so I've stayed away from them for my whole life. I'm straight-edge. I'll never smoke, do drugs, or drink. I just don't have it in me. I want to live my life as healthy as can be.

In 1996, Tobacco Companies said that drinking a glass of milk a day was riskier then second-hand smoke. I just read that little fact, what do you guys think of that?

What's the real sense of smoking? What good would it do to you? I think it's disgusting. I'm glad my parents dont smoke. I hate it when people come up to me and say where am I hiding my pipe. They do it because alot of people from my country smoke weed or what ever. That doesnt mean that everyone of the nationality smokes. I hate it because one of my favorite singers died of cancer. I think it was because he smoked but I'm not sure. And about the milk thing, I really dont know because I dont even drink milk (or water or anything healthy). But I dont even smoke soo... hmm. Yeah... and I saw a picture of the human lung after they smoked and i wanted to throw up ( I would throw up if i saw a regular lung though..)

I've seen a healthy lung before in real life. It's freaky. I was staring at it up close while the other girls and guys were disgusted. I'm into that kind of stuff.
