Heaven's Not Enough

Heaven and Hell. Two place that, without the other, would cease to exist. Many believed that the world would be a better place without Hell, that peace and prosperity would rule the land and life would be amazing. But that wasn't true. There would always need to be a balance within good and evil. Evil would never fully leave. And that is what brought Shax here, to the human realm. He needed to find a key to turn the balance down in Hell. A civil war was brewing down there and Shax was leading the rebellion against Lucifer. He only had a limited amount of followers, but those demons had heart and passion that most didn't.

So here he was, walking down the streets among the humans, hoping to find a key to turn the war to his favor.

Amongst the angels there were many things said about the human world, Earth, and so many stories that reached Krahe's ears. Over the years she had resided in Heaven, she had been given a rank and taught what job she must perform on Earth. Because along with angels, there were always demons as well, and they were deceptive; in essence, she needed to be prepared. But here she was now, for the moment invisible to the humans around her. She had the name of the human she was to guard, but not an image of the girl's face. They assured her that she would know the human when she saw her. She hoped they were right. So far, she had wandered the streets for a good hour, getting a good mental image of the town she was in, and she had even paid attention to those around her, searching. She was in awe, but she couldn't let it distract her.

Shax continued to walk through the town, no set goal in mind. He just didn't want to be in Hell at the moment. The responsibility too much. Sighing he turned a corner, following the sidewalk, then froze. He could feel the beams of light that only angels emitted, could feel the warm glow of their faith close by. With a malicious grin he turned and began following the beams. He could only feel one set of beams, signifying only one angel in the area. It didn't take long for him to find her, walking through the streets. She was a beauty. A beauty who was alone. Perfect. Moving quickly he began walking right behind her.

Krahe's awe at being in such a different place didn't last for long as she felt a sort of sinister chill sweep over her body after a few more moments of walking. At first, she tried to shake it off, blaming it on the wind, but as she continued down a crowded street, it seemed to follow her, and not only that, it felt like it was coming closer. It was a disturbing feeling, and she cast a glance over her shoulder once, discreetly as she could. Alarm prickled through her as she saw the source of her discomfort. Angels and demons seemed to have an odd way of spotting each other, the two being complete opposites yet related in a sort of way, and though she had never encountered one personally before, she knew the man behind her had to be a demon. She pretended as if she hadn't seen anything unusual though, continuing to walk until she came to a corner. She rounded it and spread her wings, lifting into the air, where she would have advantage considering that demons were unable to fly.

Shax grinned as the angel turned back and walked around the corner. He'd fought against many angels in his thousands of years and had a good idea of what she was planning. Moving quickly Shax grabbed her just as she lifted into the air. Hard hands on her wings he pulled her back against his chest, "Ah, ah, ah, lovely. Don't try to struggle, I'm sure you're aware of how delicate angel's wings can be. Wouldn't want to break them, would you?" His voice was deep and raspy, full of smoke and sinister promises as his grin stretched his lips, "Now, why are you here, walking the streets all alone?"

Krahe gasped as pain rippled from her wings and spread through the rest of her body. It was obvious already that this demon already knew what he was doing; had the advantage of experience. At first she tried to pull away from him, seeking to be away from the dark presence, but as a sharp pain filled her once more, she was forced to be still. She was cornered, and she could practically feel it on his voice, though she couldn't see her attacker. "Just kill me demon," she said, attempting to make her voice hard, though such a thing was almost impossible for music-like voices of angels, though easier for males. The females tended to sound delicate, and while their wings were, they were surprisingly durable, but they had to be.

Shax grinned, "Oh, now I don't think I need to kill you. Not yet at least." He brought her closer, his nose now touching her cheek, "No, I think I'm going to have much use for you." And, still holding onto her wings, Shax created a portal to his world. With a scent of sulfur the portal appeared and Shax dragged her through it with him, stepping from the human realm to the demon one.

Krahe's skin prickled as she felt the demon moving closer, and her mind sought some sort of plan for her to get out of her current predicament. Any ideas she might have had previously washed down the drain though as he summoned a portal. She might have had done something had he not been holding her wings so tightly. Even without struggling, they ached, and when he had crossed them through the portal, her whole body felt as if it were reverberating with the wrongness of the place, and she thought for a moment that she might be sick. "Let go of me," she said, sensing rather than seeing the portal, probably her only chance out of Hell, close.

"I don't think so," Shax said as he continued to hold onto her wings, "Like I said; I have a use for you." The portal he had created had brought them right to an abandoned warehouse. Not many people realized there were multiple levels to Hell. There was the typical Hell where sinners went to, but then there was the Hell where demons lived. It was similar in looks to a human's realm, but everything had sort of a red hue and the sun was always out, even when the sky was dark and it was night. The warehouse they were in front of seemed like any other abandoned building, but here was where Shax was leading the rebellion. It was his home, "Welcome home, lovely." he said with a grin as he dragged her into the dusty building.

Krahe eyed the building skeptically, wondering how many demons were in there. She felt like all of her senses were dulled though, and this place made her feel weaker. It was unnatural for angels to be in Hell, and when they were exposed to it for a long period of time, they became what was commonly known as a 'fallen angel'. Their wings would slowly disentegrate. She found it hard to believe any sort of creature could call such a horrible place home, and she knew the first chance she got, she would somehow find a way out of Hell. She bristled at the word 'lovely'; he said it as if it were some sort of nickname. She had so many things she wanted to ask or say, but kept her mouth closed, deciding to not talk would be best for the moment.

(haha, don't worry about it. I do that with rp's too sometimes xD)

Shax grinned and drug her through the building, "Come on, lets get you comfortable." He pulled her to the middle of the first floor and shoved her into a chair. Still keeping a hand on her wings he pulled a created a rope from thin air and tied her to the chair, stepping back to see his handiwork. He grinned, "Perfect." he studied her now, not having the chance to study her before. She was beautiful. Beautiful and, hopefully, his new key."Now that I have you here I have a proposition for you. I need you to help me defeat my father."

When finally he released her wings and though she wasn't particularly happy about her predicament, Krahe longed to stretch them and felt relief in them somehow. Now she could really see him, and not just a glance, but really study the demon. He looked wolfish, and dangerously handsome, she had to admit to herself reluctantly. What caught her off guard though was the hue of his blue eyes. She shook her thoughts out of her head though as he spoke. "Yes, well, I don't care much to be taken by the wings and dragged into Hell. I have absolutely no reason to help a demon," she said acidly.

Shax smiled, his grin full of boyish delight, "You will help me. The more you help the more freedom I give you. And," He said, his grin growing, "if you help me win this war against Lucifer I will set you free." letting her think that over Shax walked to a small pit where he created fire with his natural powers. From there he picked up a piece of iron, melding it and shaping it in the fire. Most humans needed other tools to shape the tough iron, but iron and fire were part of his powers. It didn't take long for his masterpiece to be finished and he stood, the red hot iron smoking. The heat didn't hurt him, but it would her, "This is a brand," he told her quietly, "A marker that ties you to me. It will fade away after I win against Lucifer, letting you go, but these swirls and odd letters spell out my name in the Demon Language. It basically labels you as my slave." He walked closer, stopping at her side, "Like I said, it'll be gone once you finish helping me or when I deem necessary."

Krahe bristled, some sort of instinct telling her there was something wrong this whole situation, and as he went to a fire, she narrowed her eyes a little, heart constricting. What was he planning? Soon, she found out exactly, and her eyes widened as visibly struggled at the ropes keeping her to the chair. Even though the hot iron hadn't even touched her yet, she could feel the heat coming off it in waves. She forced herself to calm down though, thinking of a way she could possibly talk herself out of the situation; it would do no good to struggle obviously, and she was pretty sure the demon would get some sort of sick delight out of seeing her panick. "What good would a Guardian Angel do you?" she asked, eyes still narrowed towards him. "You're fighting a war, not protecting humans." It wasn't much, but that fact and her lack of experience should pretty much lable her as useless, and she couldn't understand why she had been targeted. 'Unless he didn't know...'

Shax eyes narrowed, "You're guardian angel?" Huh. Not what he had been expecting. She'd seemed like a warrior angel to him... but no one else knew either. His grin reappeared, slower this time, "That's okay." He said as he gripped her right shoulder, the iron right next to her collar bone, "No one else will know. They'll just believe you're a slave, this brand making your will my own. Once they realize you're an angel and that I own you, perhaps the fear alone will win the war for me." Just before he placed the hot brand on her skin he lifted his eyes to hers, "I'm sorry," he whispered, then placed the brand to her shoulder.

((Hope you don't mind. If I do anything you don't want let me know, but I figured the brand made sense. Why else would an angel who hadn't yet fallen be there unless she/he was a slave?))

Krahe thought she might have said something right...that was, until the grin came back onto his face. This demon seemed to grin a lot. She felt her body tense as he grabbed her shoulder, more aptly feeling the heat from the iron now. As it pressed into her shoulder, she clenched her jaw, biting down hard on her bottom lip and clenched her fists into balls. Oh, it hurt all right; it was worse than anything else she had ever experienced thus far, which wasn't much anyway. She refused to look at him the entire time though, anger flaring in her. Sadly though, she suspected there would be worse to come.

Once the burn to her skin was significant enough Shax took a step back, tossing the iron back to the fire, "There. That should do it." He sighed, then met her gaze again, "Look, I know you don't want to be here. I know you hate me and my kind, but I do need your help." He was surprised she hadn't screamed out. She was stronger then she appeared. She would need that strength for the trials to come. "Would you like to hear about what this war is about? About what I'm doing and why?"

Krahe didn't turn to look at her shoulder when she felt the pressure of the iron ease off, knowing it would be bad and not wanting to see it. Slowly, her body began to relax again, or as relaxed as she could be in this place. Her jaw was still clenched though as he began talking again. She let her gaze flicker towards him eventually as well. "Not really," she sighed. "You said your fighting Lucifer, so I guess you must be unhappy with the way he's running this place. Personally, I don't blame you, but Lucifer and God...they're...well, they're the Powers. I would think that, being a demon, you would know that first hand as only angels and demons can?" she raised an eyebrow at him, as if daring him to try and prove her wrong.

Shax stared at her, "Alright, if you don't want to know, then fine." He began to pace in front of her, "And, yes, Lucifer and God are the power... but that power isn't in balance at the moment." He sighed, continuing to pace, "You also don't know who I am, apparently. I'm not just some low born demon spawn."
