"I'm not your kind," Tobi told Kalem automatically, voice sounding distracted. She didn't bother taking her eyes off Caden either. "I thought we talked about this earlier, Caden...." She ran a hand through her hair and sighed as she realized they probably needed to talk in private. She looked at Kalem. "If she comes out, would you tell her I had to use the bathroom?" she asked, meaning their teacher. Then she took Caden's hand and dragged him towards the bathrooms so they could talk without Kalem being there. "Caden, he obviously isn't just going to go away. If it was that easy, he wouldn't be at school with us or in so many of my classes," she explained to him patiently. "But he says he will leave me alone after he shows me some pixie stuff or whatever it is. Look, I still don't trust him. I feel like he's lying to me about something, even if I don't know what it is, but he wouldn't hurt me. If he was going to, he would've done it when he showed up at the hospital rather than wait. You need to calm down because everything's face." She had dropped his hand as soon as she stopped and turned to face him, and somehow managed to keep her voice reasonable as she spoke.
