Addison Krane woke up on a Monday morning groggily as it seemed her alarm rang early than it was supposed to, but that was only because she was tired. She smiled to herself though as Monday mornings meant getting to see her best friend, Zach, who usually neglected her during the weekend. She got up with a smile and dressed prettier than usual, with a nice tight-fitted designer dress and heels to match. She then sat patiently and waited for Zach, as he was her ride to school.

Josh Straub woke up and shook his head a little. It was a Monday morning, but he still felt like shit from the hardcore partying that went on all weekend long. God, if Lily knew, she'd probably kill him for partying so hard since she was always against it... He never understood how she hated his partying, but she did... He sighed a little as he hopped in the shower quick before throwing on some dark denim jeans and preparing himself for what he already knew would be a long day at school...

(It's fine~ Way better than what I could have done. xD And sorry this took a while. I had to do homework for my Spanish class. >.<)

Zach Procella was already up and ready for the school day - much to his dislike. He gave a low sigh, running his fingers through his hair as he made his way out of the house, his backpack over his shoulder. His weekend had pretty much sucked because of the fact that nobody had even informed him of any parties - the type that he usually ended up sneaking around Addison's back to get into, because he knew how much she would dislike him being at a party. Needless to say, he was an avid party-goer, but he usually didn't make the best choices at the parties he went to. Shrugging the thought away, he climbed into his truck and left the house, making his way to Addison's. It didn't take him long to get there; it never did. He simply honked on his horn, knowing that she would hear him.

Lily Depriest was most definitely not a morning person. Over the past month, she had gone through several alarm clocks, having broken them by throwing them against the walls. Her mother eventually resorted to simply banging on her door to wake her up - thus being the way that she woke up that morning. She dragged herself out of bed and took a shower to wake herself up. Once dressed, finding herself wearing a pair of black skinny jeans, boots, and a loose-fiited shirt that her mother had dubbed as being a 'hippie' shirt, she made sure to dry her hair. Once making sure she looked nice enough, she made her way downstairs, her backpack on her shoulders, and left the house, deciding to walk to school for a change.

[sorry it took so long, I had a project to work on...]

Addy jumped out of her slouched seat on the couch when she heard the familiar honk of Zach's truck. It was something she had become accustomed to hearing so that she recognized it almost immediately whenever she heard it. She steadied herself in her heels after her quick pounce from the couch and pulled down the dress just a little so that it looked perfect. They were only beat friends, but Addy had a tendency to want to look perfect whenever he was around. Maybe secretly she had always had a secret crush on him, but he would never know that.. He didn't believe in love anyways... "Hey Zach!" She beamed as she leaped into the car - her short stature not allowing her to just step in to the high truck with such a tight dress as she was wearing... Well, at least not without exposing herself.. She reached over the middle of the car and wrapped her arms around him to give him a hug, along with a kiss on the cheek. "How was your weekend?"

Josh checked his phone a few times that morning before he left for school. Normally if his best friend, Lily, would text him every morning and ask if she could have a ride to school that day, but she had yet to do so this morning. It almost bothered him when she didn't... Especially when she was the only girl that he could be himself with and she didn't expect to be anything more than friends. An army's length distance separated them and they were the best of friends - she always giving him advice on what not to do and him never listening anyways - and he confided in her with everything. There were minor things that they didn't agree in though, like the hardcore partying that he did or the the girl he was with that seemed to change daily... Just to be sure she hadn't forgotten to text, he drove by her house, but she wasn't standing there waiting like usual. He drove down the street a little and saw her walking so he pulled over and rolled down his window. "Hey beautiful," he called to her in a gruff voice that sounded like he had plans to rape her - as was usually the result of hitchhiking - and he knew it would make her laugh, "need a lift?"

    (It's fine~)

Zach couldn't help but to chuckle softly at how happy she seemed. He gave a slight grin before he shrugged. "My weekend was pretty boring for once." He glanced over at her and arched an eyebrow, though he couldn't help but notice the dress, a slight smirk forming on his face. The dress suited her, defining her features - which, to be honest, he liked a lot. "How was your weekened without me?" Most weekends they didn't get to hang out; mostly because of family problems on his side. Zach's father, having left Zach's mom, usually wanted Zach to spend the weekend at his house. Zach, of course, would refuse, and it would somehow start an argument between his mom and father. He had already confided all of this to Addy, simply because he trusted her. She was the only person that he trusted not to stab him in the back with stuff like that - well, besides his mom. "I bet your weekend was just as boring as mine without me hanging around to annoy you."

Lily blinked at the familiar voice, despite the disguised tone he was using. She laughed quietly before turning to look at Josh in his vehicle, she arched an eyebrow. "You know, most rapists would use the term 'sexy,' rather than 'beautiful,' Josh!" she said in a teasing tone before she grinned. Making her way over, she climbed into the vehicle and buckled up before looking over at him and sticking her tongue out rather childishly. "And, if you really were a rapist, you wouldn't even bother with me. I know kung fu!" That, of course, was a lie, as she was simply joking around. It was easy to joke around with Josh in such a way; probably because she was pretty good at hiding her attraction to him. She'd much rather have their friendship than to be just another girl to him. Besides, friendship made it easier for her to be around him and she could simply enjoy his presence more.

Addy smiled a little as she looked out the window, not exactly paying attention or noticing the side glances that he kept giving her. She knew if he was it was only a side effect of boy hormones and he had no feelings for her. She wouldn't let herself be a slut to him though and kept her distance - which he did the same so the feelings were mutual she guessed. They were best friends and would always be... No matter how tight of a dress she wore or how much skin she showed. "Right, I'm sure you're weekend was boring!" She responded. "I know how your weekends go... Hard partying and all! I bet you didn't even miss me!" She stuck her tongue out at him playfully and poked his sculpted bicep. "But yes, my weekend was boring without you as always! You don't annoy me - you entertain me!"

"Well how can I only use the word sexy when that doesn't even begin to justify how beautiful you are?!" He called to her. Yes, that's was just his way... He was quite the sweet-talked and he knew just how to get everything he wanted... Gah, that gave him a headache thinking about the last couple of nights... He knew that Lily would be upset if he told her of his weekend, but not because she was the jealous type but because she thought better of him. They were best friends but nothing more, but Lily found it blatantly important to tell him why his partying was so wrong.... Called back into reality with Lily's joke, he smiled. "Oh yes, with your tiny body I'm sure you'd have every man shaking in their boots!" He added and laughed. He loved that he could be so comfortable with Lily and nothing mattered. Since love didn't exist, this was his happiness: wild nights and a best friend who he could always turn to when something went wrong... "How was your weekend, Lil?"

Zach pouted slightly at her words. "I didn't get to party this weekend," he said simply before looking ahead as he continued the drive to the school. He kept in mind to keep his attention on the road, rather than on the short dress that Addy was wearing. "And, I always miss you. You're my best friend, after all! It's not my fault that you don't enjoy partying with me. You know how many times I've invited you to come along." Though, honestly, he was glad that she didn't join him at parties; it meant that he wouldn't have to worry about making sure no guys got too touchy with her, because he was rather protective of his best friend. Not to mention, he wouldn't have to restrain himself from being a flirt with whoever he wished to flirt with, knowing that he'd have to make sure to keep his attention on Addy. "Of course I entertain you. I'm just that awesome." He grinned, soon getting to the school and finding a spot to park before he turned off the ignition.

Lily smiled slightly and rolled her eyes slightly to his words. She was used to it and she knew that he was always one to simply flirt and never be serious when it came to girls; therefore, she didn't take it seriously. Deciding not to respond to his words, she stretched her arms out in front of her. Though, to his question, she pouted slightly. "It was exhausting," she complained, "I had to finish that stupid English project about Shakespeare." She rolled her eyes slightly before sighing. It wasn't that she didn't like Shakespeare; she loved the guy's writing and such as she found it rather romantic and tragic at the same time. The simple fact that she had to do a project on it, though, irked her. "What about you? What'd I miss this weekend?"

Addison could sense the slight tension that came when he told her that he hadn't gone out partying, but she couldn't help but sigh a little in relief. It wasn't that she didn't like that he had fun, but she didn't like to think about what he did when he partied. She didn't want to know of any hot hookups or stupid things that he did when he was drunk, because honestly, it all made her jealous. She knew he had invited her around before, but it was bad enough hearing the news from friends... She didn't want to be there to actually witness it! "You know I'm just not the partying type... It's too crowded and crazy for me..." She then tried to get rid of the crazy pit of jealousy in her stomach by changing the subject. "So what happened over the weekend? What's wrong?"

"Aw, I'm sorry!" Josh answered to Lily telling him of the terrible weekend that she had had. Then he had realized how big of a mistake he had made by mentioning the one detail of his life that he wasn't proud to share with her... She never liked his partying ways, and now he had just asked her how her weekend was... Which always meant a retaliation of "what about you?" Stupid, stupid, stupid. He cursed to himself under his breth and shook his head. "Oh, you know... Same old, same old! Nothing much ever happens..."
He stuttered out an excuse... Not too smoothly either! She always made him regret being the partier that he was and he wasn't in the mood for a lecture right now. And god, his headache was still pounding... Man he had been wasted...

Zach shrugged slightly to her question, deciding against responding to her question. Soon hopping out of the truck, he grabbed his bag and grinned. "Nothing's wrong," he said before slinging his backpack over his shoulder and glancing towards her, pocketing his keys. "Why would you think something was wrong anyways?" He arched an eyebrow before tilting his head to the side slightly. In honesty, nothing was wrong at the moment. During the weekend, though, it had been a completely different story.

Lily frowned slightly at his words. "As in partying, drinking, and ending up with a hangover?" she asked before tilting her head to the side slightly. "Remind me to drop a book near your head any chance that I get today, just to show you how stupid it is for you to get drunk when you have school the next day." She gave a quiet sigh before glancing out the window, watching the scenery pass by. She honestly didn't understand his attraction to partying; in her opinion, it just seemed to cause more problems for him.

Addy sighed a little as Zach avoided her question. They had been best friends for the longest of times, so it bothered her that he wanted to be secretive of what was bothering him. If she had to take a wild guess, she was pretty sure of what the answer would be since he had confided in her before... They had both often held up the reputation of the friend who carries another burden when they helped each other get through things. "You know what I mean Zach... Did something happen?"

Josh didn't know what exactly to say when she scolded him for his partying... He never did... She had a certain way of getting under his skin so that his partying, which was usually acceptable, was scorned and led him to feeling guilty. "Lil, please don't drop a book on my head... My head hurts enough as if is!" He said, hoping to get a laugh to lighten the mood but she continued frowning. If it were any other girl who was showing her displeasure, it wouldn't have mattered, but Lily had a way of it that he couldn't ignore... "I'm sorry! It's not that big of a deal, just lay off!"

Zach sighed softly at her words before shrugging. "The same thing as usual, I guess you could say. My dad wanting me to come over and stay with him for the weekend and me refusing to, thus causing my parents to argue," he said simply before looking at her and giving a small smile. "Don't worry about it, though." He didn't like to worry her - especially when the same thing happened so frequently. He was pretty much used to it and saw no reason in dragging Addy into his family drama.

Lily frowned more at his words. "'Just lay off'?" she asked, mocking him slightly and arching an eyebrow. She crossed her arms over her chest, obviously displeased with his choice of words. "Fine. I'll lay off. But, when you get in a car accident because you're drunk as hell, don't say I didn't warn you." Her brother had gotten into a car accident in that way and ended up in a coma, having only woken up last year - which also played into why she disliked Josh partying and getting drunk so much, along with her jealousy.

Addy didn't like that he blew off his family issues as no big deal. She knew it happened frequently, but she also liked hearing about what went on at his home... Especially because it was a rate occasion that be allowed her a chance to go over. She sighed a little and shook her head. "How do you not worry about it? They're making your weekends hell and I know that it really hasn't done well for you..." She trailed off, knowing that he would understand the partying and the girls and the drinking as the result.

Josh felt a stab in his gut when she started yelling at him about getting into a car accident... He knew how broken up she had been when her brother had been in that car accident, and it always made him sad when she threw this in his face. It worked though - he always regretted being such a partier, but it didn't stop it. "Lily! I'm sorry!" He responded to her. Sometimes she just didn't get it... He hated the way that his dad had chosen to cheat on his mom and partying was his way of coping...

Zach looked towards her before sighing and shrugging. "I have my ways of dealing with it," he said simply. Those ways, of course, were partying, hooking up with girls, and getting drunk, though he wouldn't openly say that, since he didn't want to upset Addy. Grinning, he looked around. "It's nothing to worry about, though. Seriously. What all happened on your weekend, except for being bored without me around?" It was always best to change the subject when the topic about his family issues came up.

Lily gave a sigh to his words, biting down on her lower lip. Shaking her head, she forced herself to calm down a bit. "Look, let's just forget about this, alright?" she muttered softly before looking over at him and offering a small smile. She hated arguing with him, because it made her feel like they were pushing each other away. It was bad enough that he hardly let anybody get close to him, anyways; she didn't want him to push her away completely. "Anyways, we should probably get you some painkillers or something."

Addy sighed a little as Zach started to change the subject. She knew his tactics quite well; if he didn't want to talk about something, he simply would ask a question completely unrelated to something of the current topic and the subject was supposed to be dropped. Usually, if Addy was feeling at all generous to him, she would do so, but she always was yearning to talk it through with him and heal all of his pain. He knew his current strategies of pain relievers and they were quite unconventional... And they left a knot of jealousy in her stomach every time she thought about it. "Nothing much really. My brothers were home, so I hung out with them for a little." She answered. Addy had five older brothers. All older; all highly protective with boys and their baby sister. Zach was one of the few that was actually trusted, since he had proved he would never want her more than he had her... "But don't you dare think you're off the hook! We're talking about your family whether you like it or not!"

Josh groaned as he made his way into the parking lot and parked his big truck in an open spot there. He almost regretted that he did some of the things he did - partying hardcore and hookups weren't necessarily the most proud moments of his life, but what was he supposed to do?! This was really what life came down to, wasn't it? His dad cheating on his mom had forced him into the reality that there was no such thing as love. Love was a fairy tale to give children something to live for; something that adults claimed the force of staying together in a marriage, unless you realized this like his father had. He was almost glad that his father had done so though... It had left him with the reality of life and now he didn't have to waste his time. Why waste his time on petty relationships when he could have a different girl every night and love life?! Still, his head was hurting and he wished he would've laid off the alcohol a little... "Yes, does my trusty sidekick have some pain relief for me?" He smiled at her.

Zach gave a slight chuckle to her words. He wasn't surprised that she wouldn't allow him to change the subject as easily as he had hoped he would be able to. Shrugging slightly, he tilted his head to the side slightly. "Did you have more fun hanging out with your brothers than you do hanging out with me?" he asked with a slight pout as he looked at her. He was only joking, of course, as he knew that family was more important than most other things to some people. To him, his mother was the most important person. Addy, of course, was a close second - which was surprising, as he didn't normally let anybody get that close to him. He trusted her, though. "We'll talk about my family after school. How's that?"

Lily gave a slight smile to his words before pulling out the bottle of Aspirin that she had found herself carrying around a lot - simply because Josh was usually having a hangover after the weekends and she had grown accustomed to providing him pain relief. "You can have it, if you admit that you're the sidekick in this," she mused in a teasing tone as she held it away from him with a teasing smirk.

"No! I could never have more fun with someone other that you, my dear!" She faked the denial, fluttering her eyebrows dramatically in the way that she had often seen done when girls talked to Zach. In all reality, she was trying her hardest to be flirtatious, though she passed it off as fake since he did. Ultimately, she didn't really know how to flirt since she had never let anyone close to her except Zach; he was secretly the love of her life. He never gave her the time of day though, and wished he would. Didn't he see it?! "Ok, fine!" She huffed at him. "But don't think you're getting out of that talk, Zachary Procella, because I will hold you to that promise!" She stuck her tongue out at him.

Josh sighed as she tried to hold the Aspirin bottle away from him... As if he couldn't just grab ahold of her and take it, since was a whole head smaller than him and easily overpowered. Still, Lily was a jokester and liked to pick on him for his stupidity in getting hangovers. "You do know, doll-face, that I could just reach up and take it from you if I wanted it, correct?" He asked her, leaning down slightly so his head was aligned with hers. When she stuck out her bottom lip in a pout, he couldn't help but sight. "Fine, I'm your sidekick! Happy now?!"

Zach laughed quietly before he grinned. "Well, I hope you're being honest about that," he mused before ruffling her hair in a teasing manner and smirking, "Otherwise, I'd feel rather sad. I am your best friend, after all!" Honestly, he found her behavior slightly adorable - not that he'd mention it. They were only friends, after all, and he simply didn't believe in love. He knew that he would only hurt her in the end, if he ever actually got with her, just like he had hurt every other girl that he had been with. And, the last thing he wanted was to hurt her. "Oh, no need to hold me to the promise. I can guarantee that we'll talk about it."

Lily grinned before tossing the bottle to him. "You could have stolen it, but, let's face it, you don't want to lose your reproduction organs," she said in a teasing tone, as if motioning that she wouldn't simply let him get away with stealing the Aspirin. "And, yes, I am quite happy that you admitted it. I should have videoed it, though!" She laughed quietly before running a hand through her hair, though she soon pouted once she looked at the time on her phone. School would start soon and she wasn't looking forward to it, at all.

Addy smiled at him as he faked a scared face that she could've been lying to him. It made her feel so happy when they were like this together - and then the smile faded. She remembered that they were nothing more than best friends, no matter how much she dreamt about it or wished on shooting stars. Those methods never worked anyways, and she had given up on the dreams... Yet still there was something about him that made it impossible to ignore him and she wished that he could see what he was doing to her. "Sure thing," she said in a melancholy voice, biting her lip in the slightest of ways. She was certain he wouldn't notice though... He never did.

"Ohh, that hurts me! It hurts when you say things like that to me!" Josh cried dramatically, one hand grab his heart and the other sliding down to protect his "reproduction organs." "My heart hurts, Lil! I think you've nearly killed me!" He gave up the act when he heard her laugh and joined in with her. He loved the sound of that laugh, though he would never have the guts to say that to her... It wasn't like it meant anything anyways - she was a girl and he was a guy, so the attraction was obviously there, but such things as "looove" didn't exist. "And if you would've recorded it, I never would have said it!" He admitted and poked her sides. Then he noticed her pour. "Aw, why the pout, cutiepie?"

Zach usually did notice the change in her behavior; he just never commented on it, because he didn't want to upset her more. Running a hand through his hair, he glanced around the area. "What do you want to do after school?" he asked before resting his eyes on her once again, trying to get her to cheer up, since it was obvious that she was thinking a lot about something. "Besides talk about my family life, that is." He gave a small smile before tilting his head to the side slightly. "We can do whatever you want." He usually left the decisions of their after-school activities up to her, anyways.

Lily laughed quietly before she smiled and shrugged. "Just that school will start soon," she said simply before breathing out, blowing her bangs out of her face. Tilting her head to the side, she looked up at him and grinned. "No worries, though. At least that means you can go to the nurse's office and sleep off that hangover of yours." Again, she was back to joking. It was an easy thing for her to do for her to brush off any thoughts that didn't belong in her head - such as the fact that he had called her a 'cutiepie.'

Addy smiled as she watched Zach run a hand through his hair and wished she could be the one doing that... Still, there was never a possibility of that... He seemed to miss the change in mood, so she changed back to her happy, upbeat self when he asked her what they were doing. "How about you choose for once, loser?" She nudged him in the rock hard abs that he had and it made her blush, "You always make me choose and I'm running out of ideas! So it's you're turn!" She stuck her tongue out at him.

Josh rolled his eyes at her sudden mood changes. He didn't know what it was about, but he wished they would stop... All he wanted was for her to be happy and upbeat like usual, and it kind of bugged him when she wasn't. He always got self-conscious that it was his fault and it made him worry. "Hell yes!" He said, replying to her words. "I am in definite need of a good night's sleep! I haven't gotten one all weeke - laaaast night?" He said with a smile as he tried to hide the fact that he had really been partying all weekend.
