Summary:
High school has finished and to kick off the seniors leaving their small town and going on with the rest of their lives, a graduation party is held at some monumental place in their town (maybe at a certain lake on the edge of town or an abandoned place that is great for parties or something). At this final party, something major happens and shit goes down.

A few years later, the mayor of the town is contacted and is told that the whole town is going to be closed down because there are some investors who want to expand the next town and make it a tourist destination. So it is up to the community to band together and call their kids – who are now finishing college or starting their life after college – to rally up and save their town. But of course, the stuff that went down a few years ago has not been resolved and when they return, relationships emerge and more drama ensues.

POV: First person present, excluding interludes

Character Plots: (Past and Present)

Past: Samara Armstrong is eighteen and the mayor’s daughter. Due to her father’s position, Samara is seen as the golden child by her father and the rest of the community and when her father retires, Samara is expected to take his place. Despite the pressure she is put under, Samara has always met other’s expectations but not for her father’s sake, rather to get out of her small town and escape her father’s ‘legacy’. Although she tries to deny it, Samara has natural leadership qualities and can be a bit feisty. To the adults, Samara is seen as a hard-working student but to her peers, she is seen as a suck-up/teacher's pet/try-hard/bossy, when in reality she just wants to escape.

Samara and Levi are cousins, so Mayor Armstrong and Nathaniel are related. Mayor Armstrong has been contacted by developers to shut down the town within the year and in return, he gets a shitload of money from it. While he loves his town, he loves money more and forces his brother, Nathaniel (powerful business man) to be on his side. But Nathaniel isn't evil, he wants to do right but doesn't have a choice.

The Last Night: (high school party) She tells her best friend, Ryan, she's in love with him, but he's in love with Levi's girl and they've been together for a while. Ryan loves her but is not in love with her. Then at this party someone dies and everyone is at fault. Ryan stays to work at his family's auto shop and Samara moves away.

Present: Samara has finished college and is happily living in a big city with her fiancée (but has always preferred home). She talks to her father once a month as he checks up on her, and he's only seen her once in four years. When he calls her to tell her that he needs her help, she is hesitant to return to the town because of the pressures, her best friend/first love and the ‘thing’ that happened.

The Last Night:

A drunken couple (Viv + unknown guy) are making out but he wants to take it further and Viv in her drunken haze refuses because she wants to get away from him, sensing something off about him. She tries to run away, runs up to the cliff and hides on the side of the cliff, in a rough and low part but it ensures that the guy can't see her.

Meanwhile, two or more people jump into the lake, causing the water to push to the side (as it does when you make a splash). The water level dramatically rises and submerges Viv completely into the water. She tries to call out for help but no one can hear her, and eventually the water pulls her down and she turns up on the shore of the lake.

Samara: Samara tells her best friend, Ryan, that she's in love with him but he rejects her as he tells her he is in love with Jessica, who Levi is also in love with.

Jordan: Jordan and Viv are best friends, and Viv is the girl who dies.

Levi: Levi, intending to tell the girl of his dreams (Jessica) that he was in love with her, catches his best friend, Ryan, making out with her. Later, Ryan tells Levi that they've been growing closer since her own accident and they love each other, which breaks Levi's heart. After the girl dies, Levi punches Ryan in the face (due to some weird surge of anger after that happened) and he leaves for college hoping to never speak to anyone in that town again (especially Ryan and his brother, Jonathan).

Julienne: Julienne has witnessed the guy and the girl fighting and the girl running away, but she is pulled away before she can see where the girl has gone to. When she returns, she finds the body on the shore, alerts the group and Jordan/Levi toss the body back into the lake.

Story Plot:

- In order to keep the town, the lake has an endangered fish that one of the gang finds out about, therefore halting the destruction of the town. Also, at this time, people go around and talk about their best memories of the lake. However, the gang at first, are initially hesitant to reveal their knowledge of the lake because of the girl that died and are scared that her death could lead back to them.

- Samara's dad, Mayor Armstrong, is playing both sides. While he does love the town he's mayored since Samara was five, he was offered a large sum of money by the developers who want to join Rosaleigh and the neighbouring town into a massive tourist destination. The mayor puts up the front that he wants to save the town, but in reality he wants the money more.

Or instead of a cult even, some aggro weird guy kills/hurts someone else and no one can speak about it because it implicates all those people that could be involved.

And maybe the death of the person is connected to the town shutting down or something. Like the public story is that they want to shut it down because there are investors who want to expand but maybe the reason why they’re expanding is because of some sinister personal reason instead?

I preferred this idea to the cult thing because I think that's too much. But there's nothing like a freaky ass death to shake everyone up, especially in a small town.

Can't say I've ever tapped into my horror side but we're all trying new things here, haha.

Btw can you please post your character info, both from the past and the present. I imagine that the story is going to be more focused on the present but the first round of chapters will be from the past.

Character Plots: (Past and Present)

Past: Jordan Suzuki is a seventeen year old androgynous male. He suffers from a mild case of anthropophobia, due to constant harrassment over his looks and lifestyle choices. He only has one good friend who has been with him since they were kids. He loves to embrace his father's Japanese culture, and enjoys the occasional yaoi.

The Last Night: I'll write this when we're certain of what's going down.

Present: After the incident, Jordan moved to Japan with his father. Unfortunately, due to what happened, his phobia has become more severe, and has cut all ties with everyone except his father. He graduated from Aizawa Fashion School, and now works as a fashion designer based in Akihabara. When he's asked to return, he goes, immidiately packing his suitcase and buying a plane ticket. But when he gets there and comes face to face with his old neighbours, he starts to freak out. Big time.

If we don't have a character that is said old member you could make another character up. Which I'm planning to do with this best friend Mara is in love with back in the day. Although when she sees him again she'll totally fall for him because you always remember your first love. ALWAYS.

Oh, btw, when I mean write another character up I don't necessarily mean they have to have a chapter but they're still included in the story if that makes sense? Unless you want said character to be in it and that's fine but they can just be like a secondary character or something.

Actually this story is a lot like OTH. Actually I was watching it and that was how I got the inspiration

Okay since we're both keen on someone dying although Idk about pelican park. who is also in this and anyone else if we get anyone else want.

But what else super scandalous could happen besides death? Unless it's normal teenagery stuff, like if a sex tape was made between some popular girl and the mayor's daughter's best friend aka the guy who she's in love with but the girl who was in it is best friends with say, Jordan and he doesn't like the best friend guy because he is a dick to him so everyone is connected in some way and it blows up in everyone's faces.

Well, not a sex tape but you get the idea. Like a chain of events that leads to a massive explosion of fights or something.

I tend to avoid writing sex scenes because I am horrid at them but I do enjoy reading them
