Organizing Stories

I think there should be some organization to the My Stories page, so I have two suggestions.

1.) Have separate places for started stories, and stories that are only a summary so far.

or

2.) Be able to organize stories using numbers (first, second, third, etc.), so instead of the stories changing up every time you're on that page, they stay in that set position.

I hope that all makes sense

You can search them and have them pop up so I don't really see the need.

I agree, maybe a bit more organization for our stories. That only we can see. There is stories I update frequently, and there is one-shots. It would be nice to put the stories we update most towards the top of the page, instead of searching for them. Because it can be cluttered sometimes.

Exactly. And then you have to search underneath the summary-only pages to get to the actual stories. Or that may just be me, but still

That's true too. Though I don't have many summary only stories, but I know users who have A BUNCH so it would be very easy for them. More organized too. Which I like.

I agree with Psychotic Secrets.

Maybe for the first point that you mentioned, there could be categories that only the author can see? Like you can put all of your one-shots into one category, all the story summaries, and all of the actual published stories into their own category. It would add a little more organization for the author itself, I think.

As for the second point, I completely agree. Sometimes it can get confusing when my stories change positions.

I do like that first idea.

With my original post though, all of that would only be seen by the author, no one else, if I confused you there.

Restarting this thread because I think it's a great idea. I just deleted a whole bunch of things so I can rewrite, but now my whole first page is filled with the summaries/unwritten work and I have to scroll and go through different pages to find my current stuff. It's definitely a huge pain in the butt.

I also agree with some sort of system to label them so they stay in once place. I didn't realize they moved around until I went looking for a fic the other day and thought it was gone (despite it being in the search and on my profile) -- it was on the third page because I hadn't updated it in so long.

I think it would be a good idea, I have a bunch of Summery only stories.

I think this would be great. I would be able to easily prioritize what I want to write without getting distracted.
