That's terrible. Even if a person's opinion is that a person's clothing looks unfavorable (which really isn't anyone's place to say), they shouldn't say it for everyone to hear. So rude.

And my clothes weren't super revealing, they were actually pretty average. The tank top was like this but longer, not showing any belly. When I wear my black jeans and baggy t-shirts, they say I should look more feminine and sexier. If I put on a sexy tank top, I'm a fat whore Facepalm

Oh, I didn't bring it up. I was commenting on a sexist picture a friend of mine sent. I know what the people there are like, but I think to bring a message of non-sexism and acceptance to a place that needs it most, even when you will hear the stupid replies, is important. I don't need to tell feminists the message of treating women with dignity and not endorsing rape culture. I need to tell people who ARE endorsing rape culture about it.

Yeah I get it. It's just that on 9gag, you're bound to get a lot of hate for a simple comment, which is why I don't even bother commenting anymore ::sighs:

I can deal with their hateful, ignorant comments. Unless someone actually threatens me, I can get a lot of my frustrations out by spouting feminist rants at the patriarch.

I actually cringe when I hear someone say the word "slut" out loud. It's just disgusting in my opinion how quick people are to judge others based on what they're wearing, who they may or may not have slept with. I think if a person is comfortable with their sexuality they won't judge others. I'm a virgin myself and I don't plan on having sex anytime soon, and I have friends who have had sex more than once with more than one person. But they don't call me out for being a prude, and I don't consider any of them sluts.

Me and my best friend (and Dru is included in this group now too tehe) call each other 'the sluttiest sluts that ever did slut' XD

I've had the words slut, whore, slag, skank etc etc flung at me from strangers. I've had them sent to me anonymously online. I've had people tell me I'm a slut for losing my virginity when I wasn't of age, for sleeping with more than one person, for having sex before marriage, for being open about my sexuality, for not being straight, for wearing revealing clothing.

But guess what? My sex life is my business. No matter the reasoning behind why I had sex, who I had sex with, how often I had sex with them, it does not give you the right to treat me like I'm less of a person. And calling someone a slut based on what they wear? Total ignorance.

Charlie Sheen slut-shamed "Teen Mom" Farrah Abraham in an email. "congrats on surviving your lobotomy and an even bigger congratz on the recent attempt at porn. your daughter must be so proud."

Considering this man dated a porn star a few years ago and is dating one now, that's pretty fucking rich, eh?

This video is something I want to send to all people on the planet. Ever. Slut-shaming needs to end, now.

I just watched that and it's great. She really does break down to the nitty gritty what slut-shaming is and why it is wrong.

I wish all the people who say slut-shaming doesn't exist would watch it.

"Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about shaming if you acted with a little more class..."
^ just saw one of my friend's post that on Facebook a little while back. Was really disappointed because I thought she had a more open mind than that, and that's basically the epitome of slut-shaming condensed into a sentence. :/

Yeah. I've heard people say slut-shaming only happens to people who "deserve" it. It's the same concept and it's pretty sickening.

For real. & the level of un-self-awareness and ignorance it takes to make that kind of statement... ugh. It's like, how do you not realize you just spat out the definition of slut-shaming?

Slut-shaming or no slut-shaming, regarding clothing, you have to admit that you don't exactly want to see a 12 year old wearing a short skirt that shows off her butt and a top that barely covers her tits. Like, come on, there's something not right there. I don't care if she's tall or looks older or doesn't want to play with dolls anymore.... Also, keep in mind that not everyone wants to see someone else's barely covered ass and tits in a larger crowded public, like a mall or work area c: It's not even self-respect, it's just common courtesy to others around them. Parties/home/beach/festival/etc - I really don't care what they wear, their choice.

But if in sexual content? Who cares what he/she does with whoever? You're not in the bed with them, it shouldn't concern you.

    @ papa cat;
Why can't you look away instead of telling her not to wear something? Why should her clothing choices be dictated by your choice to not look away? I think if you're offended by something you shouldn't look instead of staring like you're something other than offended...

At age 12, I wore crop tops and shorter shorts in the summer in California. I was never degraded over my clothes (except when I got home, by my father and stepmother). I felt like a happy 12 year old. I was not trying to entice anyone or show my 'tits' off. I thought I looked cute and the things were comfortable.

You may not have been, but that doesn't mean other teenage girls aren't actively trying to sexualize themselves (why wouldn't they? Virtually every influence in their life tells them to). Parents have a responsibility to intervene and mediate clothing choices.

And parents do have a right to instill morals. But if you're the one seeing the girl walking on the street having those thoughts, it's highly unlikely you're her parent.
