Elizabeth kept her eyes on Xhex as he began to walk around. She didn't trust him at all. In fact he frightened her. He seemed like someone who would do something about his predicament. "I'm not going to tell you. Quite honestly it's none of your business anyways. You wouldn't understand even if I did tell you why I lied to him." She wasn't sure what his reaction would be if she told him the truth but she didn't want to go into those details. She didn't even want to think about it. "Anyways I'm glad that you're finally doing what I told you to in the first place."

At her last words Xhex spun, snarling, "'Doing what I told you to'?" He began advancing on her, "Most of my life has been all about doing what you humans have told me to." He stopped when his face was just a few inches from hers, sharp fangs snapping, "I'm only acting the good and proper servant when others are watching, Mistress, but when we're alone?" He grinned maliciously, "It's a whole 'nother ball game."

Elizabeth's whole body tensed up when Xhex got all too close to her. She could act tough all she wanted but when she felt real danger with a vampire her facade quickly faded. Old memories came back to her, filling her with terror once again. No sounds came out of her mouth so she did the only thing that came to mind. Elizabeth shoved Xhex away from her. She bolted out of the room, slamming the door closed behind her before running through the castle. Elizabeth knew straight to where she was going only if no one followed her.

Xhex was startled at the desperation and fewar in her gaze as Elizabeth pushed him away. He stepped back and watched her run, the door slamming shut. What the hell had happened? Without thought he chased after her. As weak as he was, he had normal human speed, meaning that, with her head start, Xhex couldn't catch her... but he could follow. And follow he did. He didn't call out to her, didn't yell, because he didn't want the other humans or vampires to know what was going on.

Elizabeth was on her way to her hiding spot when she glanced back to see Xhex chasing after her. Dread punctured her heart. Oh why was this menace following her! Somehow Elizabeth needed to lose her. She was trying desperately to get away from him. She began to run down random hallways, trying to loose him. Though she made a mistake when taking the last left. It was a deadend and she knew the rooms in that hallways were useless. Getting to the end, Elizabeth pressed her back against the wall and closed her eyes tightly. Her body began to shake a little. So many memories were rushing through her.

As Elizabeth hit a dead end Xhex slowed to a stop. He was about ten feet from her, taking in the completely paniced look she had. What the hell had happened to this human? Sighing Xhex slowly walked forward, "Elizabeth?" he asked. His voice wasn't soft, but it wasn't hard either. Just deep and confused, "What was that all about?" She knew he couldn't hurt her, didn't she? Hell, she had complete control over him.

((Isn't there a slave remote? I can't remember))

(No slave remote)

Elizabeth kept her eyes closed tightly once he caught up to her, even after he had stopped talking she stayed like that. Finally her eyes opened up, all glossed over as she looked at him. Tears were threatening to come out as she looked at his confused face. He didn't understand, but why would he. Xhex didn't know, very few people knew. It was something her father had told her to keep to herself. The other slaves knew there was something wrong with her. They didn't know what though. Elizabeth brought her shaky hands to her face, covering herself. "You just looked so much like-you were acting so much like." Elizabeth gasped for air before shaking her head. "G-go away."

((Okay. I just couldn't remember))

"Elizabeth." His eyes narrowed. Only abuse put that much fear into a person, "Elizabeth, who hurt you?" Xhex hated that the thought of her at the mercy of another caused him to feel. He should hate her. Shouldn't care that she had this fear in her... but that wasn't Xhex. Sure, the 'new Xhex' was a lot harder then the old one... but he still hated abuse from anyone. "Is it your father?" If Hallows was hurting his daughter... then Xhex's plans were just going to have to be bumped up.

Elizabeth let out one small, weak laugh when Xhex asked if it was her father. Though after that tears began to stream down her face. She shook her head to him. "No it wasn't daddy." Elizabeth sobbed, the crying making it difficult to speak. "He was the one who made it stop." She rubbed her face and her eyes hard, trying to get herself to stop crying but it was not working. Elizabeth then pressed herself harder into the wall. He wouldn't leave her alone until she said who. She knew that from experience. She cried harder. "I-I was a slave once." Elizabeth sank down to the down, burying her face into her knees. She felt weak. "I w-was treated worse than the sla-ves are now."

Xhex knelt in front of Elizabeth, making sure to keep a few feet between them, "You were a slave?" His voice was quiet, "To whom?" worse? How bad had it been, if it had been worse then things are now "Elizabeth, you're not a slave any longer." He let out a humorless laugh, "Hell, you have all the power now. There's no need to fear me." He shook his head, "All you have to do is tell you dad about anything I'm doing wrong and I'm gone. Out of here." he sighed, "But I do want to know who your master was."

Elizabeth just shook her head at his words. Even though she was in power she knew just how easy it would be to lose it if the vampires just barely got enough blood. They would all be overthrown again and she would be back to where she was. And even with things were now, she still didn't feel safe from them. She had heard of the stories of some vampires just overthrowing their own masters and forcing the old days upon them. And she knew she could control any vampires fate but she didn't want to be like her master was to her. She didn't want that at all. It just wasn't as simple as he said. "Duke Simmers." She croaked out.

At the name she gave Xhex was mildly surprised. his family had known Duke. They'd traveled the same circles, attended the same parties... while Xhex didn't know him personally, he also hadn't thought the vampire had been cruel. Shaking his head Xhex slowly reached out and covered her hand with his gently, "Elizabeth, what did he do to you?" This time his voice was soft. Xhex just couldn't handle bullies.

Elizabeth tensed at his touch at first before she slowly calmed herself down. It wasn't him she had to fear-at least not at this moment. He was only trying to understand. Only trying to help she supposed. Though Elizabeth couldn't get herself to actually speak of what he did to her. For her it was too horrible and the pain still fresh even though it was a year or two ago. She stood up slowly on shaky legs, holding onto his hand tightly as she did so. Her eyes were red, puffy and tears were still coming down. Though she lead him through the backways of the castle to her own room. There she let him inside, closing the door behind them. She stood on a chair, reaching on top of her bookshelf where there was only an inch between the wall and the top of it. Elizabeth pulled out a small, worn out journal and handed it to Xhex. Inside was everything simmers had done to her. Simmers had actually tortured her and forced her to torture the other slaves. He had beaten her to near death, starved her, and forced her into fights with other slaves. He had raped her and even got her pregnant. Though he beat her until the baby died in the womb. Life with simmers had been hell. She had even attempted to kill herself but he had healed her to do it all again. This was why she had a mixture of feelings for vampires. She never wanted to be as cruel as simmers was but at the same time she wanted all vampires to be erased from her life. Elizabeth would have been fine if they were wiped from the planet as long as it had not been from her own hand.

Xhex kept her hand in his as she led him to a room. From how well she knew the room he assumed it was hers. He was a little surprised that she stepped up on a chair. He instinctively stepped forward, making sure she didn't fall, then took the small book she handed him. As she stepped down he opened the journal, his hands holding the papered book gently as he opened it. He read it, standing still, not a muscle twitching, as he relieved the horror she had lived through. When he was finished he set the book down on the chair, then lifted blood red eyes to meet Elizabeth's. For vampire, red eyes symbolized extreme fury while black was their natural color. Xhex was furious with how Elizabeth had been treated. He wanted to act out, wanted to find where Simmers was and kill him. But he couldn't. So instead he did the only other thing he could think of, "I'm sorry." he whispered. Sorry she had seen the worst of the worst. Had lived it.

Elizabeth had sat down, looking at her feet after he had apologized. She had gotten herself to stop crying in the time it had taken Xhex to finish reading. Elizabeth then stood up, taking the journal from him. Flipping to the very end, she pulled out an old picture of herself. It was a picture that was taken of her right away she was saved from simmers. She looked fragile in the picture. She was much too skinny and her whole body was covered in scars and bruises. A deep saddness and hopelessness in her eyes. Elizabeth handed it to Xhex. "When I was his slave, there were years where I wouldn't even see a patch of my true skin color. When I was saved I thought that I was going to be permanently black and blue like that." She took the picture and hid that and the journal once again. "That is why I don't want to be cruel. That's why I don't want to be a mistress. And that is why I hate your kind. So please, just please don't make this difficult for me. I won't hurt you. I won't be cruel to you but I can't stop others from punishing you if you step out of line."

Xhex sighed, looking down to meet her gaze. He knelt before her again, "Elizabeth..." he sighed, "You're asking me to accept a position you yourself were in. I know that you won't hurt me... but what about those who are being hurt? You've seen the worst of vampires, but there are humans just like them. I need to save them, Elizabeth. Save them like you were save." He held his hand out, "Will you help me? You could locate those who are being abused and I can save them." He kept his gaze on hers, wondering if she would. Would she be brave and team with him? Or take the safe route and stay in her own little world.

Elizabeth looked back into Xhex's eyes this time, staying quite at first. She didn't want anyone to be in the situation she was in. Though at the same time they were vampires. Elizabeth didn't trust them and she was worried about what they would do when let free. She didn't want to get tricked into starting the vampire revolution. "What will you do with them once their free?" Elizabeth wasn't sure about this.

Xhex sighed, "Let them choose their path. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that no one should be a slave." He kept his hand out, steady, as he waited for her choice, "This isn't just about you and me, Elizabeth, but about all living creatures." On the outside he remained calm and collected, sure of himself, but inside he was the opposite. He'd never thought he'd partner with a human - much less one who owned him - and he was beginning to worry that she'd balk, leaving him to do this on his own. In secret. And chance her telling her father.

Elizabeth frowned a little bit. For any other person, the punishment would be jail but she knew that would not happen for her. She was actually next in line when her father stepped down so she had to be careful with what she did. "Isn't there a way to make sure they won't revolt though? I can't allow people to be let free if they are only going to cause trouble." Elizabeth stayed quiet for a moment. "I don't approve of slavery honestly but at the same time I don't want another war."

"So let's do this without a war." He sighed, "What if we can hire them here? You're different, but can you same the same for the rest of the humans here? If we bring them here we can give them something good to look forward to." his fingers twitched, now even more unsure if she was going to go for it or not, "If we give them work here, it's better then where they are now." And he can talk to them... get them to work with him
