I was just wondering if anyone knew some good apps for writing stories. The one I use, I like it a lot and I'm used to it... it's called Writing Kit. The only thing I DON'T like about it is when I close it or something... I end up losing about a quarter of what I wrote before I closed it. That's a real turn off for me because I forget what I wrote after about five minutes.

That's why I was wondering if anyone has ever found any good apps to use for writing chapters. If they are costly, then ones under $25. ^^ If this isn't allowed, feel free to close it and I'll ask in my blog instead.

Inkwell is good app to use in the iPad. Not to mention, it's free too! You have to download Dropbox though. But your documents won't be lost 'cause it automatically syncs with Dropbox when there's wi-fi.

I just checked this out, and am happy that I downloaded it. The app itself is very organized, and very easy to use.

I use Textilus! It's automatically saves everything for you. It has the option of drop box, to print and so much more. It's like Microsoft Word too. LLOKS you to edit the font, style, highlight size anything you want. It's also free. Well the free version is very nice. You can have three folders in the free version. I think the full version is seven or eight dollars.

I recommend it so much because my iPad crashes sometimes, but the app saves everything instantly. Oh and it doesn't take up that much memory either.

I use Evernote. I use it for all my stories. I have it on both my computers and my phone, and any time I write anything on one device, it syncronizes with the Evernote programs on the other computers. You can also go online and sign into Evernote, and all your stories are there!

I agree with Evernote. It's really great for syncing all of your stuff across devices so you could write on both your laptop/computer, phone, and iPad.

I also suggest Daedalus! You can organize your chapters under different sheets under one stack of paper. It's really pretty. OuO

Google Docs is a good choice too.

Basically the only apps I have are the default apps, Evernote/Skitch, Daedalus, Google Drive/Docs, Baby Names (for naming characters lol) and Skype (because that's where my writing group meets) on my iPad. It helps me focus a lot.

What about something for a computer? Miscrosoft word is just SO expensive and I'm a serious like OCD about needing a word counter and spell checker available. But I don't have internet at my house, so I can only check word count when I go to post it and that's a big pain because the chapter is already done.

Google Drive has a word counter and a spell check. You have to get to the word counter in an odd fashion because it's not right there in immediate view, but it's there. It's under Tools when you have a document open (and/or can be opened with Ctrl+Shift+C).
All you need is a Google account and you have to set it up to work in offline mode, but it is possible. This "article" tells you how to set up Offline mode if you need it, but you should have it already. It's the best thing I can think of next to Microsoft Word. I only use Google Drive to sync my documents as a back-up thing, but I do know of a few people that use it as a writing program.
