The MSN e-mails issue is resolved. If you're an MSN e-mail user (Live, Hotmail, Outlook...) and you weren't receiving e-mails from Mibba, they should be coming through now. For more information on this issue, see A Glitch With Receiving Email Subscriptions.

Rule Reminder: Mibba's rule against bashing applies to EVERYTHING, including - but not limited to - Mibbians, the work of Mibbians, novel, movies, public figures, celebrities, real life friends, family, enemies... For more information on this rule, see General Site Guidelines. Any Mibbian found bashing will receive (at least) a temporary ban from the site.

Rule Reminder: Profanity is not allowed in usernames. Because Mibba is open to young members, it is important that parts of the site that don't have "ratings" remain as clean as possible. Anyone who has a profane word in their username will be contacted by an Administrator and asked to change their username. Anyone who refuses to change their username or doesn't change it the next time they log on will be given a site ban.

Mibba's admins have implemented a new alert system for users who have been banned (either temporarily or permanently) from the site. If a user is banned, they will receive an e-mail (via the e-mail address they've linked to their Mibba account) from one of Mibba's admins explaining why they were banned and for how long. Once their ban is up and they're account re-activated, we'll send them a reminder e-mail and PM (here on Mibba), letting them know they're free to log in again.

Also, if you're ever unable to log onto Mibba and you'd like to contact an admin, feel free to send a message to one of the following e-mail addresses and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. These e-mail addresses can also be found on each admin's profile:

Just a reminder: All Mibbians are encouraged to back up their work off-site to prevent any accidental loss of writing. While Mibba's severs are frequently backed up and generally stable, it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your hard work.

Mibba has been slow to load, and more recently users have been unable to log in, or pages of code have been displayed. There is nothing to worry about and it should have stopped by now.

The e-mail changing error has been fixed. Users can now update their e-mail addresses if needed. Just go to My Mibba >> Profile >> E-mail.

August 17, 2013: Rule Reminder

Recently there have been an influx of one-shots grouped under one story. Please remember that this is NOT allowed and will be deleted from the site.

This rule is stated in the Story Guidelines:

Quote

09. Something submitted as a story must be cohesive. There must be obvious relation between the chapters.

This means users cannot compile drabbles or one-shots in one story but must separate them into their own stories. Users can use the collection feature to group their one-shots/short stories together.

All one-shot/short story compilations will be deleted. This includes group pieces that do not create one cohesive stories - these kinds of pieces can be posted as a thread in the appropriate sub-forum.

Remember to post each individual one-shot as a story of its own. You can group together one-shots using the collections function. You can find more information on creating a collection in the Creating/Adding Collections article.

August 20, 2013: Rule Reminder

As always, only actual chapters of a story should be posted as a chapter of your story. This means that author's notes, messages to the readers, character bios, and other non-chapters CANNOT be posted as a chapter in your story.

If there is information you need to get to your readers, you can do so in the author's note or status section of your story. (Author's notes can be added at the bottom of your chapters and statuses can be added in the story info section of your story.)

If you'd like to share information about your character, you can do so using the Characters function.

This rule is stated in the Story Guidelines:

Quote

10. Only actual chapters of a story can be posted as a chapter.

This means character bios/info, author's notes, messages to the reader...cannot be posted as chapters in a story. If there's any information outside of the narrative that you'd like to get to the readers, please do so in the appropriate place.

October 10, 2013: Account Deactivation

Since Mibbians have been misusing Mibba's Deactivate option, it has been removed from the site. If you'd like to permanently leave the site, simply remove all of your information from the site - including stories, poems, blogs, photo, avatar, signature,custom profile.... - uncheck all boxes from the Alerts page, and log out. This will allow you to disconnect from the site and stop receiving any site related alerts.

Hopefully, this will help both Mibbians who choose to leave the site and Mibbians who later regret that decision.

October 10, 2013: Keep Your Email Updated

Just a reminder, please keep your e-mail address updated. If you ever forget/lose your password or username, this is the ONLY way you can retrieve it. Admins do not have access to your password and we cannot reset it, so it's imperative that your e-mail address is always up to date and you can always gain access to it.

October 18, 2013: The Comment Swap Feature Is Broken

Just a reminder that the comment swap feature is broken. Many users will go to use it and find that there is either no link to a story, or that they are stuck on a story. This issue cannot be fixed by a staffer. We must wait until Dujo updates the feature (no doubt it will be updated in "two weeks").

October 22, 2013: Blogs, stories, and poems pages not updating...

Mibba's currently dealing with some technical issues. As a result, the Blogs, Stories, and Poems homepages are not updating. While this means that users cannot see new posts on those pages, you can still post blogs, poems, and stories or view posted blogs, poems, or stories by visiting user's individual pages (or clicking the links on your My Mibba feed). Also, story and poem update alerts, as well as comment alerts, should still be working.

Please bear with us while work to get this sorted out.

Edit: The issue should be fixed. Dujo has updated the site's search engine.

November 26, 2013: Forum Sweep

Over the past few weeks, Mibbians have been encountering a few site 'error' pages as well as experiencing overall slowness/delays on the site. To help get the site running again, we'll be attempting to lighten the load by getting rid of some of the site excess clutter.

Over the next few weeks our board mods will be clearing out the forums. Old locked threads and threads that have been inactive for over a year will be deleted.

We'll also be reinstating our "200 pages" rule for all forums except the Role Playing and Group-Written Stories forum. This means that once a thread reaches over 200 pages, it'll be locked and *a member can start a new thread for it. (Eventually the old locked thread will be deleted.)

If you have any contest or role-playing threads that are no longer in use, please PM a link to one of our board moderators so it can be deleted.

If you have any questions, feel free to message a member of staff and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

* The general rule of thumb is, the last person to post on page 199 gets to create the new thread.

December 1, 2013: 502 Bad Gateway Errors

For the past few weeks, Mibba has been slow and is frequently displaying the 502 Bad Gateway error. There seems to be no browser, time of day, section of the site, etc, that helps to lessen the problem. Staff are aware of the issue and are working on a solution.
