I speak English but know some Spanish. I tried to teach myself more as well as learning Finnish, French, and Italian, but that didn't work out. xD

Polish is my first language, but I always list English as my fluent language on forms just because it's the language I use the most. I'm also fluent in French and proficient in Dutch and German.

My first language was English, but then I learned Bangla which is my mother's native tongue. I'm now learning a bit of Korean (planning to take a few courses over the summer) & want to learn Chinese + Japanese

My first language is English but I speak German as well. However, a couple years ago I moved to a place where no one I knew spoke German so I'm a lot less fluent now due to the fact that I rarely use the language anymore.

My first language is Japanese, and I can still speak it (though not as confidently as I would like). And English... And just for the heck of it, I'm actually learning Russian. I'm still a beginner though. XD

I wish to learn Korean, Spanish, and sign language in the near future. I love learning a new language!!

Portuguese is my first language and English is my second, although it's the one I use the most. I've also learned Spanish which is somewhat similar to Portuguese, and I know a bit a French and Italian (just the basic conversation).

Have I posted in here before? Seems like I would have because languages are like my obsession. I speak English as my native language, and Spanish is my second language (I'm still learning, but I've reached a point where I feel fairly comfortable claiming it as a second language.) My goal is to become really fluent in Spanish, like as fluent as I can possibly get, but I don't know if I'll ever get there. XD

English is my first language, but I grew up hearing Illocano so I have a general understanding of what my family is saying to me. I learned Spanish in school and took it for five years before finally stopping...but I like to slip it into conversation now and again. c: I'd love to learn more and try to gain fluency.
I've been trying to learn Japanese this past summer but also took a pause from it after getting a job. I can speak really general sentences and can recognise some Hiragana, but otherwise all I can do is sing a song or two in nihongo. Razz

Also, this topic in general reminds me of being in the car last night with two people who could speak Japanese, while I spoke Spanish, and someone else recited very basic sentences in Arabic. A very diverse bunch. XD

Still German and English, those I use most often, and French and Spanish, which I use less, and I'd like to learn Japanese but kanji are waaaaay too much for me.

Well, Arabic is my first language and I'm fluent in English (I graduated with a major in Linguistics-Translation and I'm working on my Translation MA! :D). I won't say it's my second language, because where I live we mainly speak Arabic - being the official language and all that. So I had to teach myself English from grade school (in addition to the basically useless stuff we learnt at school) to be able to read stories -more stories- and understand most of the music I listened to back then!
Also, I know a bit of Spanish and a bit of Japanese (as in I can read katakana, hiragana and a few kanji, but I can't compose a single coherent sentence for the life of me. I'm planning to actually 'learn' when I finish my thesis).

Norwegian is my first language, but I'm also fluent in English and I can speak German, but not as confidently as I wish. I'm hoping to eventually learn Spanish as well.

    So many languages!

I speak English and French fluently, and I know basic Japanese. That's about it. Oh, and I know how to say 'hello' in Korean haha but I can't speak it.

My first language is English, so absolutely fluent in that. I can also speak French to a pretty high level, although I get little chance to use it so I'm always a little rusty when I use it, but it usually comes back pretty quickly.

I know tidbits of Scots Gaelic (it's on a lot of road signs around here and I spend quite a bit of time watching the football on BBC Alba so I've picked stuff up) and Malay (my dad was born in Singapore so I always wanted to learn a few things -- I mostly just know insults though!) although I'm not even remotely near proficient in either language. I'm also teaching myself Dutch at the moment, as I'll be going to live in the Netherlands for 6 months soon.

English is my first language and I'm trying to force-shove my way into Afrikaans as a second language.

No, not really. It's shameful, hah. I used to be able to speak some German, did learn French too but none of that ever stuck. Took German for GCSE, got a decent grade; just a shame that I now can hardly remember any of it! Learned a few words, sayings and 1-10 in Bulgarian too.

I've been self-studying Korean these past two years, and only really started seriously studying less than a year ago I guess. And I still can hardly understand or form full sentences! I can read the alphabet (한글) just fine, as it's easy to learn and bit more complicated to master, but it's no use if I haven't learned the actual word I'm reading. Self study is so hard! I'm jealous of people who studied another language religiously at school.

Croatian is my first language, since that's where I'm originally from, but I always intended to go to college in America ever since I was little so I've been speaking English nearly as long. Most people in Croatia do speak English fairly well; I wasn't an anomaly by any means. I speak a little bit of French too, just, like, school girl stuff, nothing amazing, but it's usually enough to get through some fumbled conversation with French speakers, lol.
