Oh it fits. This is the first place I should enter it to. But I should mention that it is a sub-story of my novel, Abdication. It can fit as a short story itself. But I've written it as a chapter of my novel. And I am going to post it both as a short story, and a chapter of my novel. I hope that's OK. The story is so independent in its own sense, that I want to post it separately, too.

I apologize, but I'm going to have to drop out of this.

Is it alright if I ask for an extension?
I know the contest deadline is tomorrow but I've had the flu for the last week and this is the first chance I've had to get on the computer :(

Unfortunately I'm only going to have two chapters posted to my story. School started and working other times, so that's all I've been able to write up. But I'm real happy I joined this. Because I would t have even gotten this far, otherwise. :)

Why thank you. I'm really glad you joined too, and I'm glad this contest gave you that inspiration! Two chapters is an awesome job! I've extended the deadline a bit (or I will after this) so if you find yourself wanting to give a new chapter a gander it's always an option.

ATTENTION GUYS.
The deadline has now been extended to Friday the 6th of September. This is for a few reasons, one of them being that this week is a super duper busy week for me at uni and I'd like to judge relatively quickly, and another being that I'd like to give more people a chance to add to their entries (if they want to), because I'm so pleased with what people have been coming up with.

This will probably be the final deadline, unless something comes up for you and you really think you'll need a few days. But yeah... write write write because next Friday this is done and dusted.

It'll be judged, just not at the moment. Life's too busy right now and I overestimated my time-management skills. But it's not going to be forgotten about and your entries will still be judged!

UPDATE:
Just letting you guys know that I'm halfway through the judging! I've read all but four or five stories I think, and I'll try my best to get the results up before the weekend. I've run out of steam for tonight, though, because I was studying all day, and I have an exam tomorrow so I should get some rest. But yep. And just so you know: I'm blown away by all of your entries (the ones that I've read) so far. It's going to be incredibly hard to judge! Good luck to all of you and I'll get back to you soon!

Hallo! I took over the judging for this contest and I want to thank everyone that entered! I really enjoyed reading everyone's stories and seeing what constituted as "that one story" to people. It was so much fun. However, after a lot of consideration, the winners are as:
