I don't think the letter should be too confusing. Like, for something as incriminating as such, I'd think that it'd be hand delivered and would need to seem like a completely normal letter just in case someone else sees it. It could even appear as an invitation for something that's happening within the town, thus so no one would be suspicious, but the seven of them would know that it's not.

How about each word of the first line drops a hint to the place? And I like the date thing for a doctor appointment
