Keith stood looking at her and sighed. He shook his head. "It'll take me two minutes and it'll help." he said and then walked out of the room. He started to make the food then also got her some ice for her foot. It needed to be iced again and he could see he would have to be on her about it until it was healed. Keith wasn't ready for a relationship. Maybe they could be friends but he could tell that was not what she wanted. She was pressuring him, forcing his hand and for once he knew why she ran. It was to much.

Hailey said nothing as he walked out of the room. She knew that she had to watch what she did or how she acted around him. She wasn't wanting to start anything new relationship wise with him, just wanted to figure out some things. She laid there in bed, humming to herself, waiting for Keith to return with food. While she waited, she looked towards the open door, letting her mind wander a little bit before she started crying once again. She tried to keep from crying so he wouldn't hear. She buried her face in her pillow.

Keith came back minutes later to see her crying. He set the food on the night stand and reached under the covers putting the ice on her ankle. Keith sat beside her and stroked her hair. "Shhh." he soothed. Keith knew that for anyone else he wouldn't do this much but he couldn't walk away. He couldn't stop and leave her alone.

Hailey laid there, crying into the pillow. She didn't move a muscle whens he felt Keith's hand stroking her hair. She slowly breathed in and out, trying her best not to cry and try her best to calm down. After a couple of minutes, she wiped away her tears, all her make up was now officially off her face. "Keith...." She whispered. She wiped her eyes once again. "I'm really sorry." She said softly.

Keith soothed her until she spoke. "Hailey stop it okay? I can't take it. Can't we just move on? Can't we just be friends and try to just forget it?" he asked and ran a hand through his hair. "I'm here you see that so what are you crying about? Spilled milk? What use to be? We can't take it back but we can try to move forward." he said. Keith was really getting sick of this. He couldn't put them both back together.

Hailey sat up and looked at him, wiping her tears. "Keith, I'm not crying over the fact that we can't take what we had back, but I'm crying about the fact that you're still here for me even after I messed up everything that we had." She said as she slowly started to calm down. She looked at him and sighed softly. "I am more than fine with us being friends because to be honest with you, friends is what I really need right now." She admitted as she sat there in bed. She watched him for a moment then stood up on her knees, moving closer to him. She hugged him, just a quick friend hug, then pulled away sitting down. She just looked at him.

Keith stiffened under her hands and sighed as she pulled back. He nodded and got the ice and put it back on her ankle. "Eat." he said and put the food in her hands. Keith sat down and waited for her to eat. "Why did you drink that much? You really don't have a tolerance for alcohol." Keith said.

Hailey started eating, looking at him as she hate the grilled cheese sandwich. When he asked her why she drank that much, she just looked at him and shrugged. "I really don't know...it just felt like I needed it." She admitted, looking at him. "I like some past things come to me, and it made me feel like a failure." She sat then took another bit of her sandwich.

Keith nodded. "You're not Hailey. You went out and got an education, that's a plus." he said and kissed her head. "Please sleep now." he said as he took the plate and went to clean up. He came back and took the ice pack off and tucked her in then turned off the light. He sat beside her.

Hailey looked at Keith when he came back into the room. She laid in bed, just looking up at him. Even though she was 22 years old, she still kept a nightlight plugged in. It wasn't because she was scared of the dark, just she wasn't a fan on the dark. She didn't say anything about it though as she laid there. She kind of smiled when he sat beside her. "Keith, you're a really good person." She said as she laid there.

Keith looked down at her. "I'll leave once your asleep so don't be shocked in the morning." he said and stroked her hair. "Get some sleep it's late." he said. He was not going to get enough sleep when he got home. Keith ran a hand through his head and leaned his head back against the wall. "Do you still have that night light?" he asked softly remembering how she wouldn't use to sleep without it.

Hailey looked at him and just shyly nodded when he asked about the nightlight." Yeah...I still have it. I guess it became a habit." She said as she looked at him. She laid there for a moment, just staring at him. She didn't say anything though. She turned on her side, taking off some of the blankets from her. She sat there thinking about something then started laughing lightly.

Keith looked at her strange. "What are you laughing about?" he asked and smiled getting up to find the light in the boxes around the room. Keith shook his head at her range of emotions that night. Drinking was never a good mix for her.

Hailey looked at Keith, still giggling. "Just thinking about some things..." She said laughing. Her laugh was so cute, it was practically contagious. She watched him and just giggled. She laughed so much and so hard that she was starting to cry. Her face started turning red as well. "Oh Keith I needed that laugh." She said, still giggling.

Keith looked at her raising an eyebrow. "You either have to spill or stop laughing cause it's just not fair." he said and smirked then pulled out her light. "Aweha." he said and set it up turning it on crawling back into her bed.

Hailey laughed a little and looked at him. "I was just thinking about the first time you came over to my house in the middle of the night, and we were trying to be so cute. We did nothing bad just sat there talking." She said laughing softly. "I hadn't been feeling good that week, was sick that whole week with a cold, and you came to see me." She smiled a little.

Keith smiled. "And that made you laugh?" he asked a small smile at the memory of when they had first started to get to know each other, when they where friends. It had been nice.

(Sorry for not posting, I have been going crazy with work - drama though.)
Hailey looked at him and nodded. "Yes, yes it did. Trying to be ever so quiet and it was a complete fail." She said laughing. "I figured my daddy would have killed you if he walked in." She laughed. She then looked at him. "I'm sorry Keith. I couldn't help it."

Keith smiled. "He might of." he said and shrugged. "Get some sleep Hailey." he said and yawned. He closed his eyes just resting. When she was asleep he was to tired to really go home so he went out to the couch and fell asleep there.

Hailey nodded and went to sleep, dreaming. When she woke up the next morning, she turned to the clock seeing that it was about 8 'o' clock in the morning. She was trying to remember what all happened last night and gasped, remembering the she called Keith last night. Now she doesn't remember the phone call, but she does remember him coming over and talking to her. She quickly got out of bed, grabbed the crutches, and went into the kitchen. She didn't know that Keith was on the couch though. She made her way into the kitchen and started up the coffee maker.

Jackson woke up at 7 am and started on some chores. When he was finished, he walked back in seeing that it was about 8 am. He went to find his brother Keith, but was gone and when it went to his room, he looked around. He could tell that he hadn't been home. He just grinned a little, making his way downstairs, knowing his mama would be up soon.
