Trigger warning: If you'd like to participate in Mibba's Suicide Awareness and Prevention week, please tag your posts (specifically blogs) with WSPD in the title. This will allow Mibbians who don't want (or can't bear) to read about the tough topic the opportunity to avoid material that may be triggering or hurtful to them.
    World Suicide Prevention Day
    (September 10, 2013)

"Stigma: A Major Barrier to Suicide Prevention"

This year marks the 13th annual World Suicide Prevention Day. Taking place on September 10, this year's theme is Stigma: A Major Barrier to Suicide Prevention. To help raise awareness, we'd like to participate in a few activities here on Mibba.

Resource gathering: We'd like to compile a list of suicide prevention resources. If you know of any that can be accessed worldwide or just in your country, please leave a post in the Suicide Prevention: Resources thread. At the end of the week we'll gather all of those resources into a list and make sure that list is always posted at the top of the Mibbians to the Rescue thread.

Spirit Day...Uplifting Words For the week - between September 10th and September 16th - we ask that Mibbians keep their favorite inspirational quotes in their signature. Perhaps the words that have touched you can help someone else.

Suicide Awareness/Prevention Blog Prompts: Each day, on the My Mibba page, we'll post a blog prompt that's related to suicide awareness and prevention. If you'd like to contribute and post a blog, story, article, or poem on the topic, feel free to tag it with WSPD so interested readers can find it.

Information Booths: One reason for an international awareness day is to help build awareness and understanding around a topic. To help do this, we'd like to setup "information booth" thread where users can share information on specific sub-topics related to suicide awareness and prevention - for example, a thread to help promote self-care and other ways to keep yourself mentally healthy, or a thread to bring to light signs that a loved one may be depressed or contemplating suicide, or a thread with tips on how to deal with stress and suicidal thoughts...

You can find information booths throughout Mibba's Health and Personal forums.

If you'd like to start an Information Booth and have it listed here, just post here.

I've got some blogs I posted a little while ago about my PTSD, and my phobia of schools; whis has led me to attempt suicide a few times. I would tag them but not sure how to.

For blog posts, you can include the tag WSPD in the title - this will allow your blog posts to pop up when users search "WSPD" and it'll also serve as a warning to users who don't want to (or are uncomfortable) read blogs about this topic.

Well I have battled depression and overcame two suicide attempts, and I also struggle with self injury as well, or cutting like others call it. I write poetry to get people out of the mindset that they are all alone with this battle. I been there time and time again, and I know what it is like to be called ugly, stupid, worthless and all the negative names that you could imagine. I take those words and flush them down the toilet, because I am tired of giving into the idea that I will never be good enough. So please don't let anyone tell you any different, you have the ability to go and be anyone in life, you, not them, you. Very Happy
