WSPD: Warning Signs of Suicide

Often times, it is hard for people to see the warning signs of suicidal feelings if people are unaware of what those signs are. The signs may be subtle and hard to see at times, but they are there and it’s important to look out for them. Here are some of the warning signs that people feeling suicidal may be exhibiting…

• Being withdrawn or isolating oneself
• Talking about wanting to die and/or killing oneself
• Envying others who commit suicide
• Having an obsession with death
• Talking about hopelessness or having no reason to live
• Talking about being in unbearable pain or feeling trapped
• Increased substance (alcohol or drugs) use; self-harm
• Sleeping too little or too much
• Loss of interest in things they once cared about
• Giving things away such as prized possessions
• Increased rage or seeking revenge
• Dramatic mood changes
• Loss of interest in maintaining hygiene

Loss of interest in hygiene. It's a sign of depression, in general, but depression generally accompanies such a thing.
