Brian looked up to see Zack hovering in the doorway, arms crossed over his chest. Pushing himself to a sitting position, he turned to face the rhythm. Just seeing the other man had Brian's stomach twisting, unpleasantly, wanting to say so much, but not quite having the guts to spill the words. "Yeah?"
Zack cleared his throat, moving further into the room, a look of unease settling onto his face. "How are you?"
Brian frowned, not quite sure where this line of questioning was leading. "I'm good. Why do you ask?"
"Umm." Zack rubbed the back of his neck, Brian learning that is was a habit when he got nervous. "Nothing, just. Johnny mentioned you weren't feeling too good, that's all."
Brian watched Zack sit on the chair opposite him through narrowed eyes, sighing. So that was why he was asking.."Johnny put you up to this?"
"No!" Zack shot back, quickly. Too quickly for Brian's liking. "I just wanted to see how you are. Haven't spoken to you in a while."
Brian shrugged. "You spoke to me yesterday, Zack. I'm not stupid." Running a hand through his hair, he grabbed Pinkly and held her to his chest, as if the ball of fur acted like a barrier between them. "Out with it."
He watched Zack huff out a breath and lean further into the chair, his eyes darting everywhere, but at Brian. "Johnny may have mentioned that you were a little upset at something you saw.." He looked up, his green eyes boring holes into Brian. "Are you upset?"
Damn right, he was upset. He was downright miserable about it, but he would never voice that thought. "I was a little peeved about it, yeah. I mean, wouldn't you be? Seeing the guy you like, making out with your best friend?"
Brian didn't seem to notice his little slip up, but Zack did. "The guy you like? Didn't really seem like you had any feelings for me when you were fucking Jimmy!" Shaking his head, Zack sighed. "It was nothing. Just two guys, messing around, that's all."
The blush that lit up the rhythm's cheeks, let Brian know that it wasn't just 'messing around', but he really didn't want to know anything more. "Are you always gonna throw that in my face when we argue? I thought you said you'd forgiven me?"
"I have! It's just, a little hard to forgive and forget when you're telling me how pissed you were at seeing me with Matt! Talk about hypocrite."
Brian saw the roll of Zack's eyes and stood, abruptly, Pinkly whining at the sudden movement. Tucking her safely under his arm, he turned to look at Zack, before leaving the room. "Either you forgive me, and let it go. Or you don't, and we never get past it. Which is it, Zack?"
