Customizing shoes is something I got into fairly recently, but the obsession has sort of taken off in the six months or so I've been out of school and jobless XD

I fell absolutely in love with a lot of the custom TOMS designs on etsy, but as a broke college student, I could never afford to pay, at the low end of the scale, $80 for one pair of shoes, so I started trying it out myself.

I love TOMS and what they stand for, and I have three pairs of "real" TOMS that I wear, but if I'm just going to paint and draw all over them, I'm gonna stick to the knock-offs. I have a pair of beige fake!Toms from Charlotte Russe that I drew a gold trident, fishing net, ship's wheel, and anchor on in honor of my Finnick Odair obsession that I made to wear to the Catching Fire showing with my friends, but I didn't make them too fandom-y so that I could still wear them out and about.

Last summer, I bought a ton of the fake!Toms from Wet Seal (they were on clearance for like, $4 a pair. Score!), and I made a Big Time Rush shoe from the red pair, I'm working on a dreamcatcher motif for the white pair, and I just finished up a beach themed beige pair. I also did a state pride pair inspired by this design, because I'm from South Carolina and I love the Darius Rucker lyrics, but I felt like the Palmetto tree looked a little too...cartoon-y on the original pair (plus the friggin' crescent moon was facing the wrong way Facepalm).

I've also seen a lot of the decoupaged ballet flats and stuff on etsy that were really cute, but I haven't tried to tackle that yet.

Does anyone else make their own custom shoes or have a pair that they've bought online?
