"No."
That was the first word out of Max's mouth when the doors opened, and the girl came walking out. This was definitely not what he or Cat signed up for.
"We never agreed to this," he growled, pointing a finger at the man. "Weapons, fine. But a kid? Hell no. I didn't sign up for this." That's what this girl was - a kid. She didn't even look old enough to buy her own booze - and while Max knew never to underestimate girls, this one was a different story. Cat, on one hand, was five feet eleven of lean muscle and anger issues. She knew how to handle herself in a fight, and she'd had his back for years. But this kid - she looked about eighteen, and she was lucky if she broke five feet. She was thin and pale and kind of scared looking. Max doubted she had any weapons training, or if she'd even be able to keep her head in a dangerous situation.
"I don't care what you signed up for, you're doing this," the man said, shaking his head.
Cataleya, who'd been perched on a back of a beat up sofa eating an apple, stood, slipping forward and grasping onto Max's shoulder. He looked back at her and she gave him a rather serious look, eyebrows lifted slightly. They kept eye contact for a moment before Max sighed, looking back to the man.
"Fine. Fine," he said, shaking his head a bit - he just hoped he'd live to regret it. It was dangerous enough moving weapons, let alone some inexperienced kid. "I'm not fuckin' happy about this." Max grabbed his jacket, storming out of the room, slamming the door behind him. Cataleya sighed heavily, eyes rolling as she shook her head.
"Sorry about the drama queen," she murmured, looking back to the man and the girl, one brow lifted slightly. "He forgets that I'm supposed to be the angry one."
