Beware the Mermaids Song

Velora laughed happily as her and her sister Eleanor swirled through the gentle currents of the underwater world. The sun was high in the sky lighting up their world, rays of light brightening the sand and making the water a crystal blue. The two sisters were twirling and laughing through the water occasionally breaking the surface of the water and singing a short melody before diving back under. "Come on El," the brunette called to her sister who was falling behind.

Liam stood on the deck of his ship looking at at the ocean, he and his crew had been on the water for nearly half a year and were ready to port, that was until a sound caught his ear sending shivers down his spine, the sounds was so beautiful, turning his head slightly he waited to hear the sound again so he could pin point where it was coming from.

Eleanor laughed sweetly as she looked over at her sister, "I'm coming, stop rushing me" She smiled as she sung a short melody, her purple fin splashing the clear blue water as she drove under the water. Her beautiful sparkly purple tail moving her through the water, her light brunette hair flowing behind her shoulders as she swam to catch up to her sister. She could see her sister's tail through the water, neither of them having any idea about the pirate ship that was coming towards them.
"Are you happy now Vel? You always rush me" Eleanor said sticking her tongue out playfully at her sister once she had surfaced through the water, the sun shone down on them and Eleanor was enjoying herself until she heard a strange noise sounding from behind her.

Harold smiled walking over to Liam, "Did you hear that? Looks like we aren't going to port just yet" He said to his best friend hearing the melody that all pirates knew came from a mermaid. All pirates dreamed of finding a mermaid and selling them, Harry had never once actually seen a mermaid in his time of traveling around on any ship. He was excited to see if the crew were able to capture this one that sounded so close to them, he felt the ship turn into the direction of where the melody had come from.
He walked over to the side of the ship as he helped the rest of the crew to throw the large net over the side and into the water, a net wasn't the easiest way to capture a mermaid.

Velora laughed at her sister before nodding her head, "I know but you're so slow. I want to get home before nightfall, who knows what would happen if we weren't home for dinner, father would have a heart attack." Velora pointed out giggling to her sister her red tail flashing in the light. The two continued to swim around until the brunette heard a strange sound. turning her head she saw a net coming toward her. Quickly she pushed Eleanor away just as the net encased around her.
"GET FATHER!" she cried as her cage began to ascend up. She thrashed around but that did nothing except tangle her in the ropes more. Velora's heart rate was fast and she was scared as to what would happen next.

As Liam stood on the deck out of the corner of his eye he saw another ship float by them, thinking nothing of it he searched for the sound he had heard earlier. When nothing came he went to walk away and over to the steering wheel until he heard a female scream.
"What was that?" a member asked. Liam shook his head unsure of what the sound was.
"A woman by the sound of it," he admitted.
"What would a woman be doing on board a ship, bad luck it is to 'ave a woman on board." Liam nodded his head as he watched the ship roll on by swallowing everything into silence again.

Harold watched as the net was pulled up so he leaned over the railing to see if there was anything in the net, to his surprise he saw the most beautiful girl he had ever land eyes on. Well she was a woman down to her waist and then a gorgeous red shining tail hit his eyes, this was the first mermaid he had ever seen and she was stunningly beautiful. Once the net had been lifted over the railing, he pushed his way through the crew and started to untangle the netting from the mermaid.
His captain was an awful man so Harold had the urge to throw her back into the sea, then he would be killed himself as his captain Phil wanted to sell this mermaid.

Eleanor screamed loudly once she had seen her sister being lifted away from her in a net, she tried grabbing onto the net but it was no good. She had to swim backwards so the ship wouldn't hit her, tears rolled down her cheeks as she couldn't see Velora anymore. "VELORA!" Eleanor screamed watching the ship start to sail away, she could swim after it but then what would she do.
Sobs escaped from her mouth as her heart shattered into a million pieces, she was about to dive under water to go get father when her eyes landed on another ship not that far from her. She knew pirates were bad men and mermaids had to stay away from them, otherwise the pirates would sell the mermaids like her sister.

Liam was walking along the decking of his ship when a flash of purple caught his attention, turning his head in the direction the flash had come from he spoke, "Reeve's head over toward that white patch over there," he told the pirate who was steering the ship. Slowly the ship moved toward the section of broken bottom Liam watching over the side at what it could have been that he just saw.

Velora was hauled over the deck of the boat and she saw several mens eyes on her, but it was one deck member that caught her attention, he had to be no older then twenty one, he had dark brown curly hair and a tall stature. He was hurrying toward her a knife in his hand, cowered back against the netting but when she saw him slice the rope a scream left her lips when she fell to the deck. Her tail slowly slipping away, the scales falling from her body as her tail turned into a pair of human legs. However she sat naked on the deck of a ship while men oggled at her, she tried to cover herself as best she could considering the circumstances. She hoped El had gone to their father for the held that she so desperately needed.

Harold had thought cutting the net was the best option until he watched the mermaid fall onto the deck, he hadn't been fast enough to catch her. He watched in shock as her tail slowly turned into a pair of long legs, he pulled his coat off and draped it over her naked body as the crew was filled with older men who just use women for alcohol and sex. His green eyes didn't move from her face even if she had been naked, he was a pirate but he hardly acted like one.
"Back away lads, this one is gettin sold" Phil announced loudly only to be answered with groans from the crew, "Harold take care of her, I need to find a buyer" Phil ordered.

Eleanor frowned as the other ship had started to turn towards her, she drove under the water her purple tail shining brightly under the setting suns rays. She swam as fast as she could home, blurting out everything that had happened to Velora to her father who instantly became angry. She watched him swim off to let everyone know so they could help get Velora back alive, Eleanor swam back up to the surface of the water.
Noticing the ship was still coming closer, so she swam under the ship and over onto the other side. Staying under the water which only caused her purple scales to appear brighter.

Liam noticed something shimmering in the water and it wasn't the reflection of the sun. However it was so fast that he only had a few seconds to catch a glimpse of the streak of purple before it disappeared underneath the bottom of his ship. Quickly he ran to back railing of the ship just in time to see a head breath the surface, it was a woman with long brown hair, her eyes locked with his and a shiver ran down his spine. She was stunning there was no denying it but a small part of his new that she could be dangerous.
"Who are you?" he called to her.

Velora grasped the ragged jacket closed covering any scandalous parts of herself that she refused the men to see. Her dark eyes locked with the pirate who had helped her and a gentle smile spread across her face. That was until an older man pushed his way through the swelling crowd.
"Keep your hands off of me!" Velora growled at the brown haired male before he even thought to touch her her dark eyes burning into his.

Harold held his hands up when this mermaid growled at him, he slowly moved closer to her and then bent down so they were be level. "I'm not going to hurt you, I promise you that" He whispered softly to her so only she would hear him, Phil ordered everyone else to get back to work as they moved further and further away from her underwater home. "Are you hungry or thirsty?" He asked not really knowing much about mermaids or mer people, so he had no idea if they even ate normal human food but he wasn't going to be rude to her.
"I'm so sorry this has happened to you" He told her honestly as he just didn't like the thought of anyone getting taken away from their home forcibly and then getting sold, he would hate it if it ever happened to himself or people that he cared about.

Eleanor looked up as a young man looked over the railing of the ship, she suddenly had a strong hatred for all pirates no matter if they hadn't been the ones who took her sister. "You kidnapped my sister! Get her back or I will sink this ship" She threatened this innocent human being who she knew didn't hurt her sister, but she was upset and angry so if they didn't help her than she would sink the ship and every single ship that came this way.
She had never been violent before but no one had kidnapped her sister before, Eleanor had never felt so much rage flow through her body before and it was slightly scary.

Liam was caught by surprise at the threat, the inkling of fear inside him worsened but he simply shook his head looking down at the creature in the water. "What? Your sister?" he began shaking his head, "I did not know there was another, please if you want to find your sister, come aboard and we can find her together." it was the best he could do for her, he did not know the girls sister yet she had made it apparent that he was to blame for her kidnapping. He looked at the brunette who was glaring dangerously at him. "I swear on my life that none of my men took your sister, please come aboard and I can prove our innocence."

Verlora wasn't sure what to think of this man, he was gentler then the pirates she had been told about, kind, compassionate and caring. He was a gentleman to say the least, the way he had simply shrugged off his coat in order to cover her body from the oggling eyes of all the dirty men on board. He was offering her food and water. He was definitely different, Velora was still cautious as it could be a trap.
"No," she said quickly shaking her head and drawing the material around her naked body tighter

Harold gave the mermaid a simple nod of his head, "Let's get you somewhere away from these pirates" He said to her softly and walked towards his cabin, hoping she would trust him enough to follow him. "I will get you clothes to wear" He glanced back at her opening the door to his small room, letting her enter before him as that was how his mother raised him. He wasn't much of a pirate he knew that but he didn't care.
"Please make yourself comfortable" Harold spoke to her kindly as he walked over to his trunk, opening the lid he searched through his clean dry clothes. Pulling out pants and a shirt, though he didn't have any type of underwear that she could wear so he hoped this was enough. "This is all I have" He told her knowing the clothes he had grown out of but had kept them anyway, setting the clothes in her hands he instantly turned around to give her privacy.

Eleanor looked up at the handsome young man as she bit down onto her bottom lip, "I need help up" She told him as this ship looked different so it couldn't have been them to stole Verlora, she watched as he went to a lower part of the deck before a rope was thrown down for her. Holding onto the rope she lift herself being lifted further and further away from the water, suddenly fear and panic filled her body as she had never been out of the water and didn't know what to expect or if she could even trust this man.
She felt him help her over the rail but once her beautiful purple tail touched the wood, it disappeared as a pair of legs took it's place. She fell onto the deck not having seen herself with legs before, but now she was completely naked in front of this young man.

Liam looked at the mermaid who was now on his deck, his eyes widened at what happened once her vibrant tail touched the wooden deck, the scales fell away exposing a pair of milky legs. Quickly he ripped his shirt from over his shoulders and covered her exposed body with it. The crew stood around astounded at the scene that had just unfolded on the ship.
"Manners men!" he stated sternly causing the men to return to their business. "Come I will get you something more appropriate." he said as he began to walk off, however he didn't hear her walking beside him turning he saw that she was struggling on the deck to get to her feet, chuckling lowly he walked over and cupped her legs and wrapped his arms around her back as he walked her toward his cabin.

Velora looked at the items of clothing that the curly haired male was holding out to her. Slowly she reached out and took the material into her hands. Gently she nodded her head, "Thank you," she thanked before standing their awkwardly waiting for the pirate to take the cue and leave her to change.

Harold nodded his head, "I'll be outside the door" He spoke before leaving the room and closing the door behind him, he stood guard not wanting any of the other men to try their luck with her. Although they'd only get top dollar for the mermaid if she was unharmed and beautiful, she was already beautiful but he'd make sure that she stayed unharmed while she was under his care. He leaned back against the closed door, resting his head back on the wood and wondered how he even got involved with such a horrible crew.
If he had his way he'd be off this ship in an instant and he'd take the mermaid with him, he'd try to get her back into the sea before she could be sold off to horrible men. He didn't care what punishment he received for it.

Eleanor watched with large eyes as she was lifted up into the pirate's arms when she couldn't stand, she had never even seen legs on herself so she wasn't sure how to walk on them. "Thank you... please don't kill me or sell me" She spoke softly as she looked at this handsome young man, she noticed the rest of the pirates weren't what she had been expecting. They weren't trying to touch her or look at her in a way that would make her uncomfortable, they weren't saying horrible, rude things to her.
But she still knew why mermaids were captured and sold, she could have been stupid and walked right into a trap. Though she felt safe being in his arms, "I'm Eleanor" She told him as her Mother always taught her to have manners.

"Kill you? Sell you?" Liam shook his head quickly, "No, I have no desire to do either of them to you." he confessed truthfully. "It's lovely to meet you Eleanor, my name is Liam. Welcome aboard the Coraleena," he smiled introducing the brown haired mermaid to his ship. It wasn't long before the male came to a stop outside his cabin doors, quickly he kicked them open and walked in placing the exposed girl on his hammock hurrying over a wooden crate that held several garments of clothing. Grasping a deep scarlet gown he smiled walking over and handing it to her. "Here, it's not much but it's all I can do." he smiled warmly when she took it, "If you need help doing it up I'll just be standing outside the doors." with that he turned on the heels of his boots and walked out leaving Eleanor to herself.

Verlora watched as the curly haired pirate walked out of the ship courteously. Slowly she let the material she held fall open showing a stained white shirt and a pair of black cotton pants. pulling the shirt over her head she smiled when it fell down to her mid thighs before stepping into the pants pulling them up before scanning the room for something to keep them tied up, spying a thin piece of rope she tied it about her waist before turning and walking toward the door pulling it open surprising Harold who was leaning on it.
"Thank you,' she thanked him again quietly.

Harold hadn't been expecting the door to open so soon, he stumbled backwards slightly but regained his balance as he spun around on his heels. He smiled widely when he came face to face with the beautiful mermaid once again, his smile caused the dimples in his cheeks to show as he looked at her. "You can stop thanking me Velora, I hadn't done anything that I should be thanked for" He told her as he just only taken care of her and kept the crew away from her, she was still on the ship so he hasn't done anything to help her yet. "Welcome onto the Narooma" He murmured to her not wanting to welcome her onto the ship, he himself wouldn't even be there if he could find another ship and captain that would take him.
Though he had yet to come across another ship that was different to the one he was already working on, "Are you hungry? I could fix you something" He offered looking into the big brown eyes of the mermaid, he had never really thought much about mermaids but now that he was in the presence of one he found himself wanting to know more about her and her family.

Eleanor watched everything around her with her brown eyes, clinging onto the jacket that covered her naked body once Liam had set her down. "Thank you" She spoke softly as her hands took the gown from this pirate and watched as he left the room, she slowly climbed out of the hammock letting her legs take her body weight before she slipped the gown over her body. The deep scarlet fabric pooled lightly on the wooden floor but the gown seemed to fit her body pretty well, once the gown was on she took a small walk around the room as she had only ever seen the outside of pirate ships before so she was curious.
Heading over to the door she opened it seeing Liam had been standing there waiting for her, "Could you help please? I've never worn a gown before" She asked stepping back further into his room and turning around, her back was exposed to him as she moved her brunette hair out of the way.

Liam turned around when he felt the door to his quarters open. Seeing the brown haired mermaid in the gown made him breathless. When she turned around exposing her bare back he swallowed hard clearing his throat and began to lace up the material his large hands shaking terribly, it was an effort to get it done but he managed. "There you go," he spoke clearing his throat awkwardly waiting for the brown haired girl turn around and look at him.

Velora smiled warmly, grateful for the pirates generosity and courteousness. "I would like that very much," she smiled gently. Following the curly haired male closely although she felt each individual pair of eyes burning through the material of the clothes she wore. As uncomfortable as it was she walked with pride, her head held high and her shoulders squared. She would not be weak. None of them deserved to see her in that state.

Harold stayed close to Velora in case any of the filthy crew decided to try anything with her, although she had been given to him for the time being by the Captain. He knew the crew still wanted to get their hands on her, he couldn't blame them because Velora was stunningly beautiful. Placing his hand on the small of her back he guided her down to the galley, "It won't be amazing... do you even eat normal food?" He asked suddenly not sure what mermaids even ate, he had no idea if any human food was poisonous to them or even if they could eat human food. "I'm sorry, I don't know much about your kind" He spoke as his green eyes focused on the beautiful brunette.

Eleanor smiled biting down onto her bottom lip as she felt Liam's large shaky hands as he tied the back of the gown for her, "Thank you" She whispered turning around to face him again, she didn't understand why a handsome young man like Liam was a pirate. "And thank you for helping me find my sister, I know I shouldn't trust you but there's something different about you. My parents always told Velora and I to be careful swimming, she pushed me out of the way when the net came" She spoke softly in her sweet voice, she blamed herself for letting her sister get taken.

Liam looked down at the brown haired mermaid, she was a few centimeters shorter then him. "I can promise you Miss nothing bad is going to happen to you on this ship." he promised her. Liam could understand Eleanor's parents worry about the open sea and the pirates that sailed it. Unfortunately not all pirates were like himself most were ruthless and cruel, so whenever they got their hands on a mermaid they would do some of the most horrific things to them, Liam hate to think about what they did. He had been on a ship and witnessed what the men did to the captured mermaids, the scenes burned into his mind for eternity. "You're sister is as brave as you are, it takes a lot of courage to do what you are doing, climbing on board and chasing your sister." he pointed out.

Velora giggled to herself as the young pirate and his lack of knowledge about her people, "Of course I eat you're food. I have yet to come across something that has caused me to fall ill." Velora was thankful for Harry's concern for her health, he was a sweet young man. However she was curious as to how he came onto a ship like this. "If you do not mind me asking, how did you come to be on this ship?" she asked arching one of her brows questioningly.

Eleanor already knew how brave Velora was although right now in her mind, her sister was stupid for pushing her out of the way of the large net. "If I don't follow her, than I know I'll never see her again. It'm my fault that she was captured, she had pushed me away from the net so I wouldn't have been the one captured" She looked up at the pirate, letting her eyes melt into his stunning brown eyes that seemed to go on for miles. "Why are you doing this? Why are you this nice to me?" She asked as she had a feeling he wasn't like the pirates that her father had warned her about, she had this feeling that he wasn't wanting anything from her either. He was this sweet, caring young man who was doing everything that he could to help her and help Velora.

Harry playfully stuck his tongue out at Velora as he entered the ship's galley with the beautiful mermaids, "How was I even meant to know that?" He teased pulling out a wooden stool for her to sit on, while he walked through the galley and pulled out food to make a sandwich for Velora. "My father had been a pirate before he met my mother, they two loved each other and started a family. My older sister and I were born but my father decided one day that he missed the open sea, he simply just left us and when I was old enough I started looking for him. Phil told me that he'd help, but he lied and only wanted me because I was young and strong" Harry explored to the gorgeous lady, "I just haven't left this ship yet".
