    Philyan Royal Family

    King (Danton)

The patriarchal head of the family. Always concerned about the future of his children. Very protective which is why none of his older children are married. Strict over them being the best at everything and appears closed off to all. Seen to be very harsh on his eldest son and eldest daughter, more relaxed on his youngest daughter and somewhere between the both for the twins. Has a special place in his heart for his firstborn daughter and eldest son like any father would.

    Queen (Niathina)

First female born in almost 200 years to the bloodline. Did not take the curse seriously until her two eldest children unlocked each other's curse. Married at sixteen to take over her dying father's throne. Is fearful and constantly worries for her children. Openly loving and is concerned about when they will no longer have the security of the castle walls.

    Theodore

Theodore is the oldest child and was born in December, 1802. He is social and would prefer to be around more social events but is stopped because of their curses. Is close with Genevieve because of the short age distance and prefer to appear strong and confident in front of his siblings. As he's never been assigned the normal duties a crowned prince would have been, he takes being a prince in his stride and jokes around while not taking it too seriously.

CURSE - can project someone else's memory into his own mind. UNLOCKED - when was four, Genevieve told a lie to their nurse and when he touched her hand, he saw the memory of the truth and accidentally tattled on her, getting her into trouble.

    Genevieve

Genevieve is the eldest daughter and second oldest child, born on 7 October, 1803. She is smart and intellectual and prefers to spend her time in their library because she rarely gets company there and being around a lot of people overwhelms her. Dislikes having to be present for royal duties and despises the court.

CURSE - once having skin contact with someone, she gets bombarded with all their previous thoughts which is something she cannot cope with. Once having touched someone, she then hears their thoughts whenever they're near. UNLOCKED - just before her third birthday, she touches a family member's hand to try and get their attention to find out the celebrations but instead is flood with their thoughts in her mind, the intensity making her unconscious.

    Emmeline & Henry

Emmeline was born on 29 January, 1805. She's more social and enjoys being out and about exploring and having fun. Friendly, compassionate and naive at times. Is also really close to her family in the way that she has a special bond with each sibling. She's known as Emmy around family in privacy.

CURSE - can control what the people she touches are feeling and show them what she wants in order to influence that feeling. UNLOCKED - at the age of 4 when Henry has a bad dream and she goes to comfort him but ends up showing him something happy.

Henry was born on 29 January, 1805 and is older than Emmeline by seventeen minutes. He is fairly social and happy and tends not to stray too far away from his sister.

CURSE - is able to speak to people through his mind after having made skin-to-skin contact with them. Has to be within a close proximity to them. UNLOCKED - when he was 6 and playing hide and seek with a stable boy's son and found that he could speak to the boy and found where he was hiding.

    Adaline

Adaline is the youngest child and was born 9 January, 1806. She was something of a loner because Thaddeus and Genevieve had each other, the twins had each other, but she did not have a partner. She enjoys painting and being outdoors, and her horse-riding lessons as well, though her parents don't really care for her going out so much. She's supposed to focus on things that ladies should be learning and doing instead. Other than that, she's fairly calm. Is known as Ada around family in privacy.

CURSE - sees when and how someone is going to die if she has skin-to-skin contact with them. UNLOCKED - nearly three and the family's cat, Sebastian, left a sparrow for her. She brought it to one of her siblings and when they tried to take it from her, she gets hit by the sight of their death as a result of experiencing the dead bird.

    Curse Background

Almost 200 years ago the ruling King and Queen were getting on in their age and had only produced a daughter that survived infancy. A tyrant ruler from a section of the kingdom saw that they had no succession line for the throne and knew that it'd be the perfect time the claim the kingdom for himself. Fearful of this, the King ordered his council to search every inch of the kingdom to find a person dabbled in black magic and in the further corner they found Hilldegard, a black magic witch that was in hiding following the persecution of her mother and sister. She was brought to the castle where the situation was explained to her, but still seething from the loss of her family, she warns them of the repercussions that will occur if she gives them a male heir. More concerned with the present, neither the King or Queen worry about that and she succeeds in helping them produce a male heir - with the cure placed on his direct bloodline. "For you who seek the magic that you once persecuted so too shall your daughters feel the effects. Cursed to the blood of this heir, those who bore the first daughter will bare witness to her terror as the magic curses her veins and engulfs any and all her children, from male to female, eldest to youngest. The scars of my sorrow shall run through their blood and only then will they know the price of revenge."

Chapter 9 (Ada) - Few days later and she's summoned from her lessons as well as her siblings to the throne room where the King announces his imminent leave from the castle along with the troops and Theo. The reality of war is starting to sink in.
Chapter 10 (Emmy) - Final talk as the five of them before they see Theo off before the remaining siblings get together in secret and discuss what they're going to do - the first assembling of their plan.
Chapter 11 (Genevieve) - Is on her way to the servant's quarters to check out their entrance when she's escorted to her mother who hands her a letter from her father and explains that she's only to have a few more days with her family before she has to leave to live in her husband-to-be's kingdom.

Chapter 12 (Theodore) - Sits in the council meetings and the strategic meetings with his father. Shows his struggle and how he's not prepared for that life.

Chapter 16 (Theodoe) - An attack close to where they're stationed happens and someone from the council is injured. He manages to uncover a memory that reveals a plot, which consequently unveils his curse.
Chapter 17 (Ada) - She and Emmy are close to reaching the kingdom's border. Starts to feel lightheaded and they're forced to stop somewhere public for supplies and food.
Chapter 18 (Emmy) - Finally cross into the next kingdom and pull out the map they have. They know they'll find the ancestor on a certain road but aren't sure where that road is. Have to debate about whether or not they should seek help or not.

Chapter 21 (Ada) - They find the road and travel down where they meet the ancestor - who, after discovering who they are, refuses to speak to them.
Chapter 22 (Emmy) - Are robbed on the road and in the scuffle, Ada touches one of the participants and discovers that her gloves are no longer working - she could see his death.
Chapter 23 (Genevieve) - Writes another letter to Henry, anxious through lack of response. Overhears a discussion about needing to move the wedding forward so that when her father discovers that they don't have the troops promised in exchange for the marriage, he can't demand her return.
Chapter 24 (Theodore) - The journey back to the castle and where it's declared that the King is unable to rule as of current and that Theo must rule in his stead for the time being.
Chapter 25 (Ada) - Develops a fever and they finally get the ancestor to at least speak with them but still refuses to help them seeing as the only time their family ever stopped persecuting hers was when they wanted something from the very thing they were targeting them for.
Chapter 26 (Emmy) - Ada touches the ancestor and tells her her death. They both explain how the curse has affected them all negatively and how they never did anything to deserve it apart from being born - possibly a negotiation to stop all future persecution of her people in exchange for help with the curse.
Chapter 27 (Genevieve) - Sneaks out of the castle that she's been effectively a prisoner in and goes into the nearest town where she is recognised by a guard who patrols, which effectively alerts the citizens to her identity so she pretends that she came out solely to see the people who live in the kingdom she's to be Queen of.
Chapter 28 (Theodore) - Only after being declared acting king does their mother confess about Ada and Emmy having been missing for a while. Speaks to Henry about whether he's heard any word and gets told that he's heard no word from any of their sisters, including Gen.
Chapter 29 (Ada) - With the ancestor having helped and told them what was necessary, they make their way back the way they came only to be ambushed by soldiers who think they're spies and arrest them.
Chapter 30 (Emmy) - Having been arrested, they're taken to a cell overnight before being brought before the King. He's had their possessions searched and found nothing so begins to question them when lo-and-behold, Genevieve appears, outraged at how they've been treated and gives them a room to sleep in, has Ada checked by a physician and a nice dinner.
Chapter 31 (Genevieve) - The next day she takes a walk in the gardens with her sisters, they talk about what the ancestors said, get updated about the war, and she confides to them about how none of her letters are being sent to Henry and about how unhappy she is.
Chapter 32 (Theo) - Receives a letter from Kratharsis' king about Ada and Emmy currently being guests of his. He tells this news to the others, reliving them of some of the tension. Gets an update of war, receives news that an alliance his father attempted to broker fell flat, and spends the night in the servants' quarters like before.
Chapter 33 (Ada) - After a few days of spending time with Genevieve, they now have to part ways and go back to Philyan. They say goodbye and with supplies and a carriage provided by their sister, they get back sooner than they think. Find out about their father's injuries, Theo now being king in his stead and tell their brothers about what the ancestor said.
Chapter 34 (Emmy) - Dealing with everyone knowing what the ancestor said, they all discuss it. Visits their father who is better but still very weak.
Chapter 35 (Genevieve) Unable to leave the castle and now without her sisters, she confronts who is to be her husband and tells him that she knows that they have not kept up with their side of the negotiations for this marriage, therefore she will not go through with the wedding. Finally gets to write to Henry and have it actually sent.
Chapter 36 (Theo) - Henry receives the letter, war gets worse, finds out that the other kingdom is short by 8,000 troops that were promised, and they are dealing with the information Ada and Emmy brought back. Has to make a decision regarding the other kingdom, to call Gen back or focus on politics and strength and secure a new negotiation to allow the marriage to commence.
Chapter 37 (Ada) - final chapter
Chapter 38 (Emmy) - final chapter
Chapter 39 (Genevieve) - final chapter
Chapter 40 (Theo) - final chapter - is crowned King of Philyan

I'm going to put my whole character bio here for the other author! :)

My sister is called Emmeline, and she's be 16-going-on-17. She's more social and enjoys being out and about exploring and having fun. She's also really close to her family in the way that she has a special bond with each sibling. I think for her special power she'll be able to sort of control how the people around her are feeling, as well as make them see what she wants, all using only her mind. (As an example, she could show someone in her mind something happy, and make them feel happy if someone wasn't actually feeling too great, or the other way around.) She goes by Emmy.
    Here is Emmeline

Once the other character is in, I think we need to then work out their birth dates and ages because depending on what time of year the story starts, it wouldn't work with Emmeline and the twin turning seventeen with Genevieve being seventeen as well.

Sorry guys, I've taken so long. Everyone seems to want things from me now that I'm on break XD judging from what you guys are saying, and going on my character being the youngest since the oldest would be a son that hasn't been discussed yet, I was thinking around 14 or 15 for her. Considering the time period I'm assuming they would be in... It wouldn't exactly be uncommon for someone of that age to be engaged or even married. Also, as far as these curses go... Are the limited only to the daughters or would they extend to the boys? It would be a little interesting if it was only the daughters I think, since that may be a secret they have to keep.

    @ Nyx;
I agree that it wouldn't he uncommon but with the curses, I was thinking that none were married or engaged. And no, the sons have the curses as well. When the Queen has her son, she hopes it doesn't happen with him and it seems that no such curse has befell him but when she has her first daughter and they are both old enough to talk and walk, they unlock each other's curse.

    @ Properly Improper
That might work better but nevertheless I think we should timeline their births for accuracy.

Oh okay, I can see how that would work. You're saying being around each other basically unlocked their curses? I think I'm on the same page now XD I guess we need to talk about the curses then... each child would have a different curse, I'm assuming... two of three girls have a planned curse, so we still need to figure out the guy's and my character's curse. Is there any specific theme with them?

Well I wasn't exactly thinking like that, but rather more they discover each other's and it's through them that the parents find out,. However, the idea that they actually unlock each other's curses is great and if she had stopped with one child, he would not have had the gift because no one wou ldhave been there to unlock it. The gifts have to be either mentally, linked with emotions or something along those lines. They cannot be physical, like changing forms.

Since you have the oldest daughter, do you want to decide when your birthday is, then I'll decide when mine is, then
@ Nyx; can decide when her girl's birthday is?

Well, depending on when we're setting this in terms of year (so I'll just use an example), the eldest boy would be born in December 1802 and then the Genevieve's birthday would be October 1803.

So then Emmeline and her twin could be born Any time after July 1804, say their mom took a mild break, they were born November or December of 1804?

What if they were born in the January/February of 1805? It allows Genevieve to be over one years old when they're born, with the brother being two.

Okay, I like the idea with the curses. I have no idea what to do with my character, so I'll have to think.... What about something along the lines of if she has any skin-on-skin contact with anyone, maybe she can see their death? Like when and how... So she wears gloves or some such to avoid touching people.

Also, using our experimental birthdays, I guess if Emmeline is born in 1805, my character -looking up names now- can be born.... Say... January of 1806.

EDIT: I think I like the name Adaline; Ada for short

Okay, so say Emmy and her twin (I'm thinking his name will be Henry) are born in January. So when they're older, it'll be say the oldest is 18, Gen is 17, the twins are 16, and Ada is 15? Is that right?

    I like that power! :)

Yeah, that's right. Although poor Queen for having so many children right after each other. XD

    @ Nyx;
That curse works. And maybe how the parents find out about her curse is she touches one of her siblings, tells them what she's seen and they go running off to tell their parents because none of them will understand what's going on when they first unlock their curses because of their age and therefore not think anything is wrong.

Yeah, I think that would make sense! It would probably freak the poor parents though at first, too. I just realized, too, that Ada is basically the baby of the family. Oh wow. That's ironic, considering I'm oldest in my family XD

Yeah, although by the time she unlocks her at least the first two oldest would have unlocked theirs so it wouldn't be an entire shock. I'm not sure whether the twins would have unlocked theirs?

Good point... I just would've thought that by the time she unlocked her curse that thy would've as well. Especially if the siblings are the key to it -the twins probably unlocked each orher's
