Hunting for a Mate

Lucy was brought to the middle of the forest by one of the employees of the hunt. He set her down roughly and turned to her. "Stay here. I don't need you running off again! If I find out you left early next time I'll tie you to a damn tree!" He then headed off to tell the owner to start the hunt. Lucy's face with bright red in anger as she watched him walk off. This was her third hunt and the more they made her go the angrier she got. She had never wanted to go to this darn thing but her alpha had made her, saying that it was 'important to find her mate'. Well who needed him! Whoever he was-alpha or not- he was probably just looking for their mate to gain more power! Lucy sat herself down in the forest, folding her arms over her chest. This time she was going to have to wait this damn thing out. Lucy did not want to deal with the consequences like last time. Besides even if her 'mate' did come, she was going to give him hell until he let her go!

Sam was pissed. Utterly infuriated and it was all focused at his pack. It was their fault he was standing here, under the full moon, surrounded by other Alphas who didn't want him there. He knew what they thought of him, knew that they thought he wasn't worthy. They judged him on what they didn't know. Most all of them were handed their positions from their parents or previous leaders, but Sam had been forced to fight for it. He was the newbie here, his pack arriving just the week before. They were considered rogues, thieves, and gypsies. And it was true. His pack was created of outcasts, those who didn't have a pack of their own, and they did travel. Did. He'd decided that the caves they were in now was going to be home. It was a fixer-uper at the moment, but he had confidence that they'd be able to make it a home. So now he just needed to focus on guarding his new territory from other packs... which is what he should be doing now, patrolling, but instead his pack had forced him here. They thought he needed a mate, but he knew otherwise. A mate would just create more problems.

Still, he found himself here, looking around and glaring at the Alphas closest to him. And when the hunt started? Sam stood there, watching as the Alphas in wold form ran off. He shook out his brown fur as his matching eyes looked around, then he trotted off into the forest, idly wandering around. He doubted he'd find his mate, was thinking of sneaking off, when a peculiar scent caught him. He couldn't stop himself from searching and following it... and then he came upon a girl sitting on the ground. He stood there, head tilted as he stared. This was her?

A bunch of wolves ran by her but luckily none of them stopped. After a bit just fell back, completely laying on the ground. As she did so, her head moved back so she could see what was behind her. That was when she saw him. At first they just stared at each other until Lucy was the one to stand up. "All the alphas have gone that way." She told him before pointing to the right. Even though she had been told to be in wolf form when the hunt started, Lucy had refused to do so. They wanted the betas to do it in order for the alphas to decifer who was human and who was a werewolf quicker without smelling them. Lucy didn't do so because she knew the alphas were more likely to skip over those they thought were human.
When the alpha did not leave right away, she glanced back at him over her shoulder. What was up with this guy, just staring at her? It was slightly strange. Though she had to admit that he did smell amazing. Lucy wrinkled her nose a bit, forcing herself out of it. She shoved her hands into her pockets before beginning to walk.

As she walked Sam turned and disappeared into the trees. He followed her, out of sight and silent even though he was lopping around her, until he got in front of her. Once that was done Sam jumped out in front of her, stopping her as he stood there. He continued staring until he walked forward, trying to decipher just who she was. Was she pack? Human? Wanting to know he didn't stop walking till he was right in front of her, his nose now pressing close to sniff starting at her feet and working up, even standing on his hind legs with his fore paws lightly landing on her shoulders. Now he was eye level with her and, with his dark brown eyes, he met her gaze, staring at her once more, before leaning forward a little more and sniffing under her chin.

After the eye contact, Lucy looked up at the moon as he sniffed under her chin. She closed her eyes tightly, thinking 'oh god. Please no. Please this can't be happening to me. Please I don't want to be his mate!'. Not that there was anything particularly wrong with him. It was just that Lucy did not wish to just be taken away to a different pack by some guy she barely knew to just be used and pushed to the side. She knew how a lot of the alpha' worked and she did not want to be mating with one of them. "Are you done?" She said through gritted teeth. As much as she wanted to pushed him off of her, Lucy knew better than that. After all she was only a beta and doing something like that could get her into serious trouble. So Lucy kept herself still and kept her arms to her sides. Though she refused to look back down and make eye contact with him. She hoped he realised she was not the one and headed off to look for someone else.

Still in that form Sam shifted. He stood in front of her, hands on her shoulders, naked, as he continued staring. His eyes roamed over her face as he took her in, then sighed and dropped his hands, stepping away, "Damn it." He muttered, shaking his head, "This wasn't supposed to happen." He began pacing, walking back and forth, back and forth. Now he wasn't only pissed, but frustrated as well. What was he supposed to do with her? With another sigh he stopped and turned to her, "Are you wolf or human?" He asked, though he knew the answer already, having gathered it from her scent, "Which pack are you from?"

"What isn't suppose to be happening?" Lucy asked him though her voice was rather harsh. She didn't understand what this alpha was doing or why he was pacing around like crazy. Surely this was not because she was his mate. Because if that was what happened what else would be expect from going to a hunt? Perhaps he was an idiot. Surely her alpha would not force her to go with this man. It seemed like he had lost half of his brains already! "I am a wolf from the Kiloen pack." Lucy told him as her hands began to curl up into fists. He was irritating her already and the men had barely said a word to her!

Sam shook his head as he turned to meet her gaze again, though this time a few paces away from her, "Well, looks like you'll be part of the O'Brady pack now," He said with a slight sneer, wondering if she'd recognize the pack name or not. Maybe she didn't know the pack was full of rouges barely loyal to him? He inwardly scoffed, with his luck it was more likely she knew all about the rumors and sayings.

Luckily for the alpha she knew nothing of that pack. Her own pack had too many worries of their own to even think about packs like his own. Though it did not mean that she w going to come along peacefully. Her eyes narrowed at him as her body tensed up "What the Hell does that mean?' She snapped at him. Lucy still did not believe that he was her mate. After all his reaction to finding a mate was not like most. "You can just go around and steal beats from other packs. You're going to start a war with all of the packs if you go around doing this kind of shit!"

Xam snorted a mocking laugh, "Little Bit," he said to her, choosing it as her new nickname, "I'm not stealing another wolf's mate." he shook his head, "You're all mine, can't you feel it?" He asked, tilting his head much like he'd done as wolf, "And don't worry, the only war I'll cause is one over territory. Now, lets get to the Caves. I've got work to do." That said he narrowed his gaze at her, "Don't make me herd you there. I don't like unnecessary work." Then he shifted to wolf and began walking off, heading into the forest.

Oh she could feel it but Lucy refused to accept It. She recrossed her arms over her chest as she watched him walk off. "And how do you expect of herd me exactly?" Lucy snapped at him. Her feet stayed planted on the ground and she had absolutely no plan on moving until he was long gone and she could head back to her own pack. She would just like to see him try to get her up to the caves. They weren't too far but far enough that she doubted he could do much about Hirt.

Sam turned and snapped at her words. His jaws shut with a clang, fangs flashing, as he ran to her. He snapped at her ankles, never touching her, but effectively keeping her moving. He barked, growled, snarled, and continued snapping, eyes hard as he glared up at her. She wanted herding? He'd give her herding.

"Stop!" Lucy screamed out at him. "Stop! I am moving! I am moving!" She kept moving her feet fast, not wanting to get Bitten by the mad man. If she had enough time she would have shifted. At least that way she had a chance to protect herselfd. In genral human form was just weak. "DAMN IT STOP YOUR SNAPPING!" She yelled out as she jumped up, trying to ensure no pain.

Sam gave one more snap before nudging her toward the caves with his nose. He'd opt to walk behind her, making sure she walked toward the Caves. It wasn't a long walk, but he didn't trust her not to run. When they reached the clearing in front of the caves his pack was there, some in wolf form while others were humans. In all there were about twenty men and three women who followed him. He paraded his 'mate' down the middle toward the caves. He spotted his second-in-command and growled, snapping toward him as the guy laughed. Sam knew Greg was enjoying this, knew he was laughing at Sam getting a 'mate', but the guy didn't have to enjoy it so damn much. Still he continued to walk her into the cave before shifting. Now human he gripped her arm in his hand and pulled her further into the cave, leading her up and to the right, going through many different caverns until they entered the largest one. In the middle of it was a bed of many pelt on top of each other and that was it. It was very sparse, "Make yourself at home." That said he turned and left her there, heading back through the caverns to get out.

Lucy let out a growl as she watched him disappear through the caves. She was tense with everything that was happening. It seemed like she got some bad luck with her alpha. First of all there was nothing in his cave except the pelts on the floor. Plus there seemed to be something odd with his pack. While she wanted to just leave now she knew it was not an option. Tomorrow morning she could probably get away for at least a few hours to talk to her alpha. He would assume that she got chosen when she did not come back. But Lucy needed to find out information about this guy.

Though for now she moved the side of the cave, slipping her clothes off before shifting. She set her clothes down nicely and then headed over to the pelts. Lucy laid down on top of one, curled her body up tightly before closing her eyes.

When Sam exited the Caves he walked straight up to Greg and slammed his fist into the laughing man's face. Greg immediately fell back, but he didn't stop laughing. Instead now he was rolling in the dirt and Sam just shook his head at the guy, "What the hell am I supposed to do with a mate?" He growled, "I've got to finish fixing these damn Caves during the day and patrol at night. How am I going to find time to deal with her?" He pointed down at the still laughing wolf, "I blame you for this."

Lucy began to move her tail slowly as it moved up in the air. She began to make strange shapes on the walls using just her tail and the light and shadows in the room. She watched it with interest for a while before she slowly fell off to sleep. It was best If she got some sleep now. That way she would be awake in the morning to go find her pack. Even though she was sleeping, she stayed alert for anyone that may come inside.

Throughout the rest of the night Sam patrolled the territory, marking and scenting to make sure no one was trying to challenge their claim. So far it was another night with no problems. So now he was on his way back to the Caves. When he entered his own personal cave. He found his 'mate' in wold form on his bed of pelts and walked over to her. He and his pack had run through the territory in their own wolf forms, so he walked up and curled next to the female on his bed, laying his head down on his paws as he closed his eyes.
