My Lady

I pulled the jacket around me tightly and I walked into the warm book shop, I came here on a regular basis to pick up books I'd ordered but today... today I just had a good feeling. I pulled off my scarf and shuddered from the residual coolness from the outdoors. I greeted the woman behind the main desk, she knew me by name since I came in here so often. My Korean was still a bit broken but I knew more then enough to get around.

I stepped around the isles of books, fingering over the spines looking at the titles. I looked up seeing the colorful backing of a hardback but I just wasn't tall enough to reach it. Just my luck, opted to step on my tippy toes but never the less I still was just too short.

Yixing walked around looking for the aisle that had the book he was searching for. "C-101..." He mumbled to himself, searching through each aisle for it. He was trying to find something to better his Korean, even though it was still pretty good, despite learning it only 2 years prior. He finally found the one he was looking for and sighed, walking into the aisle. He walked side ways, his eyes darting from cover to cover, trying to find the book he had been looking for. He noticed movement out of the corner of his eye and saw a girl standing there, and couldn't look away.

Normally, he would just look at a girl and look away but something about her held his attention hostage. Was it the fact that she clearly wasn't Korean? Was it the purple-white ombre of her hair? Or was it the fact that she was obviously struggling to reach the book above her? He walked over slowly and reached up grabbing the book to the right of the one she was reaching for and handing it to her. "Is this the book you're reaching for?"

I looked at the figure who'd appeared next to me, and took the book that I'd been reaching for. I heard him speak but it didn't register in my head quickly enough so I was sure the dumbfounded expression on my face made me look like an idiot. Having transferred from Texas to Seoul it was definitely a culture shock, I still wasn't used to using public transit.

"Yes, thank you," I said to him quietly, stumbling over my Korean. I looked at the book and smiled a little, it was then that his voice sounded familiar to me. Where had I heard it before? I stood there frozen in my spot the second my brain finally decided to work with me, this was Yixing ... from Exo. One of the more popular kpop groups.

"Oh.." I murmured quietly when my eyes landed on his darker ones. "Thank you very much," I repeated myself then bowed quickly.

He smiled softy. She was cute, he thought to himself. He reached up and grabbed the book she was actually looking for, but held it in his hands. Something about her made him want to prolong this conversation as long as possible, no matter what the outcome. He mentally searched his mind for something to say, but thoughts got in the way. What if she doesn't like me? What if I say something stupid? He thought, looking down at her bowed form. He shook his head in his mind, He never got nervous, this was new to him.

"My name is Yixing..." He said quietly, bowing respectfully. He gestured to her book. "Is this the book you were looking for? I'm sorry, I must have grabbed the other by mistake."

I looked up at the book he was holding, and nearly smacked myself in the head when I realized I had the wrong book. "O..oh," I murmured softly as I looked at him, "My name is Marissa," I said to him softly, it was really him. My mind was reeling at a million miles an hour and the first thing I thought was - what if he thinks I'm a freak?

"Thank you, it's okay," I said to him softly as I looked at the book in his other hand, "You're practicing your korean? You.. sound almost fluent to me," I told him gently as I look at him.

He smiled; She was talking to him, most girls gawked and ran away. "There's always room for improvement." He looked at the book he held in his hand. "You're practicing your Korean as well? It sounds pretty good." He said quietly. "Where are you from?" He asked. He wanted to make this conversation last, and he was going to make sure he had a phone number or something to continue it later on.

I smiled a little, and nodded. "I'm studying here in Korea for three years but I've only been learning for a little over a year now," I told him lightly as I smiled, "I'm Texas,"

"So this is definitely a culture shock, its so different here," I said to him as I pushed some hair out of my eyes. I couldn't believe this, my heart felt like it was going to pound out of my chest, and I didn't know how to even begin to tell him I was a fan without scaring him off. It seemed like I didn't have to when my phone went off and the song "My Lady" because to play off my phone.

He smiled. He couldn't believe it. A foreiner, who was not only pretty, but knew of Exo M. He wondered how much of a fan she was. Was she just a fan of that song? Or did she know the entire album? The entire group? He froze. Who's fan was she? He felt his heart slow; Just his luck, He finds someone he wants to get to know better, and she's Kris's fan, or Kai's.

"Oh, are you a fan of Exo?" He asked with a smile. He still felt nervous, this was so new to him.

A blush tinted my cheeks and I nodded a little as I answered it, imediately telling the person on the other line that I would call them back as soon as possible. I didn't really like talking on the phone anyway, unless I was home - there were too many prying eyes in public for the conversations I tend to have.

"Yeah, I've been a fan for a while," I admited once I hung up, "You're all really talented," I murmured softly and chewed on my bottom lip lightly as I looked up at him.

He nodded. He really wanted to ask who's fan she was, but he was afraid of the answer. "I'm glad you think so," He responded. "We try to work hard, for fans like you."

He mentally facepalmed. 'For fans like you?' He sighed silently. He hoped he wasn't coming across as badly as he thought. He made up his mind. He was going to ask who's fan she was. Even if it was Kris, maybe he could change it to him. "Who's your favorite member?" He asked her, bracing himself for her answer.

I blushed a little and rubbed the back of my neck, "Yours," I murmured softly, I was pretty sure I was as red as a tomato if it werent for the makeup I was wearing. I looked up at him meeting his eyes, and it felt odd. This didn't feel like meeting an Idol this felt like meeting just some random guy on the street - it felt natural. The only reason I was shy was due to how close in proximity he was to me.

He could have danced. "You're my fan? Thank you... What about me made you become my fan?" She was his fan, his fan. He smiled at her. He knew it was stupid to give fans numbers, you could never know if they'd sell it or if they were crazy or what. But he also felt it would be stupid to leave without getting her number, or giving her his. He wanted to ask if she wanted an autograph, but would that make him sound rude and big headed?

He held out his hand for the book she was holding. "Here, I'll put this back for you."

I put the book in his hand, "Your voice is really amazing, and I like watching you dance you loook really confident when you dance," I told him gently, my cheeks burning slightly. This couldn't be happening, was this really happening right now? I shook the thought, and watched ash e put the book away.

He smiled and scratched the back of his neck. "I'm glad you think so, but I'm hardly amazing." He said looking at her modestly. "Or confident." He added. "I just love it. I love the feeling of dancing." He said, his voice trailing off slightly. He looked at his watch, he had a schedule! He had completely forgotten, he was probably going to be late. But he really didn't want to leave.

He looked at her. "I'm really sorry, I have to go. I have a schedule I need to go to." He said sadly. He was more sad than she was, he was sure of it. He pulled a slip of paper out of his pocket and scribbled on it quickly. "As your favorite member, I want to do something special for you. It isn't often I meet a foreign fan, especially one who is so good in Korean. This is my number." He handed her the paper. "We're having a performance in about a week, come see us. I'll make sure you have a ticket, a backstage pass, so you'll get to see us." He said looking at her. He got nervous suddenly. What if she didn't want to see him?

"You'll come, right?" He asked hopefully, watching her face for a reaction.

I watched him with a small smile as he talked just seeing him talking about it, and how his eyes lit up when he spoke made my heart swell. I kept myself in check, he is a human being - not just an idol. I didn't even know if I was bothering him or not, but he seemed content enough to talk to me. Maybe he genuinely wanted to talk to me, that could happen, right?

"Thats okay," I murmured when he said he had to go, he was scribbling on a piece of paper before I realized what was going on. "Oh, really? Do you mind if I bring a friend?" I asked him softly with wide eyes. I couldn't go without Jazmin, she'd surely murder me in in my sleep. I couldn't with a clear conscience go without her - there was no way.

He shook his head. "Is she a fan of Exo?" He didn't care. As long as she came, she could bring the entire state of Texas. He realized he was still holding her book and handed it to her. "Sorry." He murmured. "But she's more than welcome to come." Whatever it took to get her there. He looked at her. "So I'll see you there? You and your friend?"

I nodded a little,"I'll be there," I said holding the paper in my hands, then took my book from him, "We'll both be there," I said with a small smile, I didn't want to see to eager but I was litterally trembling with excitment at what had happened.

Jazmin was never going to believe this, at least not until she got her to the concert - then she might believe her but she was pretty certain that she would be convinced that this was all another elaborate dream of hers.

He grinned. "Good." He said walking backwards to leave. "I'll see you soon, Marissa." He said with a smile, liking the way her name sounded coming out of his mouth. He turned to leave to run out of the building, but turned back, walking over to her. He stopped in front of her, scratching the back of his head shyly. "Uh, feel free to, uh, text that number before the show. Any questions you might have you know, feel free to text it. Or call it. Whichever you prefer." He said turning to walk out of the store for the second time. "Bye, Marissa, I'll see you at the show." He called over his shoulder, jogging to get out of the store and to the schedule he was now late to. But he couldn't care less.

I giggled a little as he jogged out of the store looking a litte flustered. He gave me explicit permission to call or text him, but he said with any questions I had - so I'd make sure to do that later to get all the information I need. Where to go, who talk to, and everything that was necessary.

I went to the front desk, and paid for my book then made my way back to the dorm where I was luckily rooming with Jazmin. I hadn't expected to be able to room with her, but when they found out we were friends the decided placing us together was the best course of action.

"You are not going to believe what just happened," I said as I dropped my messenger bag on the ground, and looked at her from the door way.
