Most people I know who freelance either do it on the side of a job (teaching mostly) or jacked it in because they found it wasn't a viable option for supporting themselves at present.

I'm personally not having much luck with getting either full or part time employment, so I'm having to rely on benefits, which is awful. So I think, unless something crops up before March (when I initially started looking for work ahead of graduation) I'm probably going to sign off, register as self employed, and go freelance full-time. I've been paid for writing in the past (which is ideally what the bulk of freelancing would be), and I've been applying for freelance marketing positions at local arts organisations, I also did a work placement at a museum who hire freelancers for courses/events and the staff really like me and have been very helpful and supportive of helping me try and find employment so I may be able to get something there if something relevant crops up. I just need to broach the subject with my parents to check it's okay for me to do that (I'd hate to fall out with them over it seeing as they're the thing stopping me from being homeless XD)

So yeah, it's looking likely that in the next 8 - 10 weeks I could be going freelance full-time which is exciting but also sort of scary. I like the idea of being self-employed and having the freedom to choose my work, but at the same time I'm concerned about the potential instability with money and things.
