    Kalyani Akhtar

    Kalyani stood in the middle of the dorms living room, poised and elegant as ever as she scanned over her students names once again. Their faces were etched into her memory easily enough, their names becoming unforgettable. School had only been in session one week. She knew, when accepting this job, it would be no easy task. She had accepted that fact and accepted the offer to be a house warden, diving straight into her work as she had always been known to do.

    These kids hadn't disappointed her. Besides the fact that one student decided it would be hilarious] to push another student off a roof, and the two siblings had thrown one of the first parties this school year behind her back, while she had been dealing with the aforementioned student, Kalyani knew she had it a bit easier than some of the other instructors on campus. That didn't mean her students could get off easy. The big grandfather clock her dorm house had been graced with showed that school had let out twenty minutes ago, and she waited. She didn't need to wait long. Amin came in first, his sister a few minutes later. They knew well enough that ignoring her there would be useless, and they sat obediently on the couch, waiting for their peers. Kalyani made a mental note to mark them as present later, as she disregarded her checkboard. She waited for the rest of the students, patient as ever.

    Alice & Bambi
    "And then- And then she asked if a PliƩ was some kinda pastry!" a chorus of giggles escaped from the youngest student in the house as she practically twirled into the main living room, yanking on the sleeve of her quickly made friend.

    "Really Shion, a pastry!" she snicked grinning over his shoulder as she mocked the frowning Bambi who stared at them with a raised brow. "I said Panini, not pastry," her older girl sighed rolling her eyes as she shouldered past the younger two teenagers collapsing on a love seat with a loud huff.

    "Yo, Kal did you remember to pick up soda at the store this time?" Bambi asked.

    Kalyani looked over at the door when Alice busted in, a small smirk playing at her lips at the bubbly girls personality, with Shion being dragged behind her. Shion glanced back at Bambi, an apologetic smile on his face that he hoped would alleviate the hexer girl's annoyance. "I'm sure Miss BiBi was just confused about the topic," he managed to say in his thick accent as he turned to see Bambi looking at them, her face irritated as she brushed by the Alice and him and made her way to a chair. He gave a sheepish laugh as he tugged Alice over to sit next to Amin and Adel. The two smiled politely at them, though Adel seemed to be holding back a giggle, and the two moved over to make room. Shion glanced at Miss Kalyani, though he didn't greet her. It seemed whenever he tried to pronounce her name, he messed up somehow, and he preffered not to be laughed at this moment.

    "Yo, Kal did you remember to pick up soda at the store this time?" Bambi asked. Kalyani glanced out the window, checking to see if anyone else was on their way yet. She turned to the Witch Doctor, inclining her head. "I got the necessary groceries, Bambi. We'll talk snacks and drinks once everyone gets here." Amin glanced around at this, his piercing eyes roaming over the faces in the room. They were missing the two main wildcards, and Hiroki. He had been surprised that Shion and Hiroki hadn't secluded themselves from the rest of the group on the first day, but he supposed that was a bit prejudiced thinking. Sighing, he nudged Adel, about to say something when Kalya spoke up.

    "I'll repeat this when the others get here, but I want to give those who were punctual a bit of a head start. I left treats in each of your rooms, one for each person, labeled for the person who is to receive the gift. This is a contest of sorts. Once you find your gift, find me quickly. Whoever finds theirs first wins an exclusion from a house chore, or a treat, depending. I'm telling you now so you have time to think it over."

    Alice & Bambi

    "Wait hold the ballet slipper! Are you telling me paninis and pastries aren't the same thing?" Alice asked dramatically standing up from her seat as if she missed the entire thing Kali said. Fake fainting to the floor a wicked grin on her lips as she rolled right and left before rolling in front of Kalyani. Looking up she smiled happily, "Hi, I forgot to say hi," she greeted showing no intent from moving away from the older woman's feet.

    "Seriously you're 14, Alice," Bambi muttered under her breath not really annoyed with the girl but she enjoyed reminding the immature kid of her age.

    "Anyways Kal, Ryker is going to be late he had to um..."

    "Get some, he said he was going to get some and we could tell Kali that she could shove this meeting up-" Alice was quickly cut off as Bambi practically jumped out of her seat.

    "Get something, Don't be silly Alissa, he said something, and that Kal wouldn't mind if he came in late, but he would be here because he knew how important it was to you," Bambi lied for the vampire for some unknown reason, all the while shooting dirty looks at the little girl.

    "Shion control the brat," she threatened huffing playfully before stealing Amin's English textbook off the coffee table, "Yo were's the Goblin King? He's your friend isn't he?" The girl accused the boy as she flipped through his textbook. Her words almost playful and yet highly sarcastic.

    Kalyani glanced down at the small halfbreed with slight interest, then glanced back up to study Bambi. She didn't look back at Alice when she clarified Ryker's whereabouts, not that Kalya had needed to guess. The boys activities were not that hard figure out. She stared unforgiving at Bambi, her eyebrow arched as if to send the message "Really? You expect me to believe these lies?" She held her hand up, just as the door opened to reveal Rayna in all her arrogant glory. She glanced dismissively at those on the couch, her eyes not even bothering with Alice's form on the floor. She glided forward, and as she passed Shion his nose scrunched up. Kayla could understand why, the girl's body was consumed by the scent of herbs and magic. Kalyani held back a sigh, thinking of punishments that would actually work with Ryker.

    Rayna scooted down on the couch, next to the Persian twins, and stretched her arms, not caring that it completely invaded Adel's personal space. The girl prodded the Necromancer in the ribs, glaring at her to keep herself in check. She didn't have any qualms with Rayna, but she wouldn't let the girl walk over her. Next to her, Amin gave a crooked smirk, grabbing his book from her grasp and his eyes holding traces of amusement as he grinned a cheshire like grin, "Friend is an operative word. I hang out with him on occasion, yes. Tell me, though, how is the residential hexer doing if I may ask? Learn anything decent these past few days?" He mocked, though his tone was teasing to take the bite off the words. Shion sat silently in his corner, observing them all, a sad smile on his face. Kalyani coughed, attracting the students attention, though some attempted to make themselves look as disinterested as possible. They were all silent, she noted, even Rayna who looked preoccupied with her own thoughts. Kalya opened her mouth to start speaking when another new scent hit her, and without turning she said in a horrifyingly stern voice, "Hiroki, I know you're barely joining us, but the door is much more of a modest entrance. You're late- no, don't make excuses, come in here and find a seat or a place to stand."

    Alice & Bambi & Hiro
    Hiro paused, his long body halfway in and halfway out of the large living room window. "Kings need royal entrances after all, right BamBam?" The other Asian boy mocked towards the African girl.

    "One, I'm a Witch Doctor, not a Hexer-- Two, don't call me BamBam, you toad," Bambi complained as if he'd done her a serious injustice.

    "K, she called me a toad, I think that's very racist and would like to formally declare war." Hiro spoke clearly brushing dust off of his jeans, "Oh and who's job was it to dust the windows? They're totally a drab!" he stated seriously, before remembering that had been his chore. "Uh, nevermind." He backtracked before pushing Bambi's legs off the love seat so he could have his favorite spot.

    "And why am I the only one to get yelled at? Princess I'm like an endangered species over there, was probably feeding kittens to vipers or something," Hiro sighed grinning in Rayna's direction.

    "Y-you feed kittens to vipers!?" Alice looked almost in tears as she stared with betrayal at Rayna.

    Shion's eyes knotted in confusion as he mumbled 'hexer' and 'witch doctor' under his breath. He tried out the different textures of the words in his mouth, trying to understand the difference. He thought of how he might say it in his language, but when he thought of a word all he could come up with was the word for hexer. Yet it seemed Miss Bibi disliked that identification. He sighed, looking over at Hiroki, studying the boy as Miss Akhtar answered his complaint.

    "Unfortunately it seems like the majority of you like to make 'racists' comments towards each other. I'm thinking this must stop. Unfortunately, Hiro, warfare is not allowed in this house, so please. Quiet down and sit down so we can get this meeting underway." Her head snapped to Alice as she was staring at Rayna with appalled shock. "Based on Rayna's current scent, I can assure you that whatever endeavors she sought to do today, no animals were harmed, Alice. Hiroki, you are not the only one I will be reprimanding today, I can assure you that. Now, back to the matter on hand. This is our second meeting as a dorm house. Thank you for arriving on time and I will make this as painless as possible. Though we will have some things to talk about, this will not be too long, so you guys will have time to do your own things in a bit. First matter of business is the oh so fun and brilliant idea to have a party in this dorm. I know that the twins are undoubtedly guilty in this matter," Kalya stated bluntly, her eyes roaming coldly over to the two guilty students. "But it would be foolish of me to think that they were the only ones in this house who were guilty of it. So," Kalya started, a dangerous grin on her face. "Tell me, students, what did we learn from the twins escapades? Why do we not have parties while your, as one of you so lovingly put it, warden of death is at the hospital taking care of a situation?"

    Alice & Bambi & Hiro
    "That seven minutes in heaven is really a lie Ki tells you before locking you in a closet for a really long time! Right Shion, it was a total falsehood!" Alice accused glowering at Ki as she crossed her arms from the floor.

    "KI? You let the 14 and 15 year-olds play a sex game? What the hell?" Bambi yelled turning towards Ki with surprise.

    "Okay, one we weren't really playing I just had to lock them in the closet before the awesome party, and two it's not a sex game," Hiro rolled his eyes.

    "Do you even know what the point of the game is?" Bambi asked with a raised brow towards the foreign kid. "Seriously the most you get to in seven minutes is like second base, and it's not like Shion even knows what second base is, in any language." Hiro teased before grinning at Amin, "I mean if you want to ask about who got some action..." he left a long pause before starting to whistle innocently.

    "You left them locked in a closet for two hours, before I came back from studying, like you should have been! You were supposed to be in charge Hiro because next to Ryker you're like what the second oldest?" Bambi hissed annoyed she'd not been invited to the party almost as much as she was annoyed they'd mistreated the other housemates.

    "I'm 231 not dead," Hiro justified before shutting up at the look Bambi shot back at him.

    "Did you guys know he locked them upstairs in the dark? While you were drinking and having a party?" Bambi asked accusingly towards the twins.

    "Of course we didn't!" Adel spoke up brusquely, narrowing her eyes on the 200 year old or so boy. "We would have put a stop to that immediately, if we had known," Amin finished for his sister, the habit becoming something that was a bit hard to break. He gave an apologetic smile to the Kitsune and halfbreed girl, "We weren't even sure you two were in the house. We assumed you had decided to stay in one of your rooms, or had stayed at the school. We sincerely apologize to you two." He glanced at Shion, who glanced away, a flush coming to his face. The Kitsune was still embarrassed about how he had reacted to being locked in the closet, though the only one who knew about his reaction was Alice.

    "Funny how the one who threw the party was the one who partook in it the least, though," Adel spoke up, her eyes gazing intently at Ki, her manner aggressive as she saw the way he was conducting himself towards Amin. "Too bad your libido has diminished so much that you couldn't even rouse yourself once during the party, Hiroki! Do you even know how to properly use that useless thing anymore?" She teased, her comment being overshadowed by a repressed snicker from Rayna, something that was a bit out of character. Kalyani growled from her spot in front of them, her voice rough and stern. Shion jumped in his spot, unused to the noise the woman had made, eyes snapping to the older woman. "That is enough from all of you! This pointless banter will cease, immediately!"

    She turned to Hiroki, her movements swift and focused. "I already gave you your punishments, but don't think I won't add on more. Locking two of our younger students was uncalled for, and don't think I forgot about that." She looked over at Shion, her bright eyes softening. "Now, for regularities sake, we'll go over as a group how these past few days have been. Any problems anyone's having, anything they feel like talking about, that's fine. If you don't feel like talking, you can always find me later, or talk to a friend. After we finish with this, we can get to the more fun subjects. If anyone would like to fill in Rayna on what I told you all earlier, go for it. Any questions or comments? Who would like to go first?" Kalya asked, glancing around at her group with a neutral expression. She knew how people generally reacted to these types of situations, how unbearable they were. Heck she agreed with them. But it was a formality, and this would at least give her an opportunity to analyze the underlying issues in her wards.

    Hiro

    Hiro grinned across the room at Adel. That's not what she said 50 years ago, of course Adel didn't remember her past life, or who'd totally rocked her sexually repressed world. So he settled for a smirk. A shit-eating grin that held one of his trademarked secrets. Instead of getting angry he relaxed, arms stretching behind his head as if he was completely comfortable and not at all insulted by her words.

    Hiro hardly listened to the words K was going on with, some shit about the power of friendship no doubt, instead he stared intently at the twins, mostly Adel because he knew it would annoy her to no end. All the while secretly sneaking glances at his real and equally oblivious target, her brother.

    He wasn't the kind to spill his guts to a pack of children. No secrets came with a price, and if they wanted to know how his day was or what he'd done during that day they'd need to at least buy him dinner first.

    Alice
    "My backpack went missing again after practice," Alice admitted, shrugging as if stolen property didn't bother her, "I'm telling you it's hexed! It must float away when I'm not there," she smiled sweetly, before pointing out, "Ryker found it for me, I guess it ended up in a tree again on the east field, which is funny because I had it in the girl's locker room, no clue how that happened," she rolled her eyes staring down accusingly at her backpack. "So you should take that down in your notes for when you yell at him for skipping again," Alice pointed out kindly. "Bambi are you sure Witch Doctors can't undo hexes?" Alice asked seriously.
    ~~~~
    Image
    Bambi
    Bambi only frowned, at the comment, she could undo hexes-- that was kinda her thing, the only problem was the bag wasn't hexed and Alice had no intention of believing otherwise.
    "I'm sure I can find a lock to keep your hexed bag inside the locker," she said, wondering if adding her own hex to anyone trying to open it would be grounds for expulsion. A tiny shock, perhaps a pimple spell?
    "I got my results for the placement test I took last week... I get to skip Anatomy 1 & 2, and move into the college prep class." Bambi explained letting out a sigh of relief, it felt nice saying it out loud. She could hardly believe it herself. She wasn't sure how she was going to tell her parents. All the drama associated with the school didn't make sense to her, this was one of the best opportunities at an education for 90% of her peers and they wanted to have parties? She didn't get it.
    Kalyani nodded at Alice, kneeling down to the floor to get more on the small half breed's level. She noted down everything that was being said, every complaint, every subtle movement each of her students made. If there was one thing Kalyani could boast about, it was her remarkable memory and attention to detail. She'd be writing all of what she observed today in her notebook later, analyzing it in the late hours until she deduced she was too tired to go on.
    Though her eyes were on Alice, she was acutely aware of Hiroki staring down the twins. His line of vision was strangely focused more on the boy, and she sensed there was something she was missing when it came to his relationship with the two. However, the man was not one to let his guard down, and it was proving near impossible to get him to participate in sharing anything about himself. For now, Kalyani would stick to watching him from afar, but soon, she thought, she may try provoking him into giving some secret about himself away.
    Kalya turned to Alice, an endearing smile on her face to appease the half-blood. "I'll definitely check into getting your bag situation fixed, Alice." She politely dodged the Ryker topic, though she was pleased to know that the boy was actually caring for his younger peers. Part of her nagged that it was likely for his own gain, but she tried putting that idea to the side, knowing it was largely her own prejudice. The topic of him finding the bag did raise good points, though, and she remembered that the boy was presently off fornicating with some pretty little student somewhere.
    Sighing to herself, Kalya perked up at Bambi's update. Having a student so dedicated to her studies really helped ease some tension off her shoulders, and the fact that the girl had been anxious about the results hadn't escaped Kalya's attention. "That's brilliant, Bambi!
    Congratulations. You deserve it!" Kalya didn't want to lather the compliments too much, for fear it would cause criticism to Bambi's efforts, or make the others feel as if their efforts weren't appreciated. "It seems you guys are doing well for yourselves for this week. I think a treat out is deserved. Besides the little contest I have set up here, this weekend we get to do anything you guys decide as a group. Whatever you want, as long as it's age appropriate and not illegal, I don't mind. I know- I take the fun out of everything, but take it or leave it. Now!" Kelyani rushed forward, jumping up from her spot and picking up Alice, twirling her around the room in a dancing motion. She knew the girl wouldn't mind it and it would be a fun way to change the pace.
    "Power exercises," Kalyani grinned, letting Alice find her way to a seat. "Did you guys decide if you wanted it to be a group thing or if you wanted it to be one on one?"
    Adel remained quiet, as Amin smiled and relayed their adventures for her. School was decent for him, he was getting used to the education system and schedules still. They had been out of school for a good while before they got their invitation to Pandora, and the transition back into that life had been a bit awkward for them- not that anyone could tell. They had their fair share of classes apart, and the ones they did have together the teachers felt it was necessary to keep them separated for some reason. Adel found this fact a bit annoying and off putting, but never complained in class. It's not like they were joined at the hips. It was just confusing- if it seemed like they were trying to distance her and Amin, why put them in the same house? She didn't know what to think of the school, in all honesty.
    Image
    Rayna had been blanking out for the majority of the meeting, thinking more about what she could have done wrong in her latest project. The scents of not only the herbs she had used were clouded around her, but of her failure. Failure had a nasty scent and it was cloying around her nose, nauseating her and not helping her headache in the slightest. She had wasted too much energy by doing what she had been doing. She was reckless and stupid, and she had been warned, but still. He might have meant well, but there was a reason he was dead and she wasn't. If she was able to fix the problems in her experiment she would never have to worry about being weak and dying.
    She kept thinking of the contest Adel had informed her about when she had gotten here. Part of her was excited by the possibility of the prize, but she found it a silly childish part of her. The prize likely wouldn't be important to her currnt task, but it was worth a shot. The others in this useless house were laughable contestants. She would be able to beat them without a backwards glance; or the majority of them, anyways.
    Image
    Shion smiled broadly at BiBi's news, looking at her excitedly and nodding his head in approval. Whispering, he congratulated her enthusiastically. Though he was struggling in some of his classes, Shion was a good student, and had the potential to place in advanced classes as well, or so his teachers said. Of course, these weren't at all like Bambi's classes; nor were they exactly a cause for celebration, not when they caused a large majority of your peers to ridicule you. But for Bambi, her placement scores were good news, and education was important, or so Shion was led to believe. So he wanted the witch to feel congratulated.
    Shion was still looking at Bambi when he heard Kalya get up quickly and his eyes widened in shock as Alice was twirled around. His heart dropped. Power excersizes were not something he was interested in participating in.
    Alice
    Alice laughed twirling around happily as she followed Kali's spins. "Ice skating! I want to go ice skating!" the girl laughed voicing her own ideas before breaking away her eyes glimmering, "I'm going to find it first!" she declared speeding out of the room before anyone could stop her. Alice's feet stomped loudly as she ran up the stairs.
    Bambi
    "Thanks Shion," Bambi grinned enjoying the praise, before handing Amin's textbook back to him. Her own hand reaching for her over crammed bag she'd left on the floor. "I have a report due next week on the French Revolution, but I guess if it was only for a few hours..." Bambi considered. Standing up she stretched her legs, not even raising a brow in surprise as Alice rushed off. "I wonder if she checks both sides before crossing the street..." she muttered to herself before looking at the others, "I'm guessing we're on our own? Unless the Wonder Twins have an objection," Bambi grinned like a Cheshire at her own joke.
    She was only pretending not to be excited, there was nothing like competition.
    Hiro & Ryker
    "Look what the cat drag in," Hiro mocked eyes sliding to the living room doorway and the boy who was trying to the best of his Vampire abilities to sneak on past. He almost had, if it hadn't been for the Fae. The Vampire's back stiffened as he tried to hide the darkening circle around his eye, or the blood which obviously wasn't his, from his knuckles. "Thanks Hiroki," the boy whispered with anger red eyes narrowing as if he'd given him away on purpose-- which he had.
    "Just doing my duty, right K?" Ki asked cheekily fake saluting the Tiger before slipping agilely past the cranky Vampire and towards his bedroom. There was no way some half-blood whelp was going to beat him at anything. In that moment Bambi quickly crossed the room, her grin gone and a serious motherly look replacing it. "What happened to your face!" she hissed, yanking on his arm with no fear of retaliation as she pulled him into the room and into better sight.
    "I fell," Ryker shot back snarly daring anyone to object to what he was saying. "Kali, he did not fall, I mean, come on!" "I need to get something to drink, not third degree from a little girl," he huffed almost pouting as he pulled away from Bambi, "And when I mean drink I mean blood," he clarified as if he had to. Stomping out of the room he dropped his bag in the hallway before slamming the kitchen door open, wasting no time he opened the fridge and pulled out the pitcher labeled with his name, pouring a large glass of the dark red stuff he sipped it down. Leaning against a counter he waited for Kalyani and no doubt the other nosy children to come right after him.
    Kalya watched as the girl stormed excitedly upstairs, a small smile on her face. She mused about the suggestion, thinking Ice Skating wasn't a half bad idea, given the other students would take kindly to it as well. Rayna got up from her seat, scoffing at the others in derision, heading upstairs as well. If anything, she was definitely not going to lose to some little twerp who was so beneath her it was laughable. She had this in the bag- so long as she took out a few little hangups. Like Hiroki for one. Amin gave Bambi a wicked half grin, a slight daring glint in his eyes. "Oh, we have no objection. We just hope you don't cry when we beat you, little one." Adel laughed, standing up from the couch and stretching, turning around with her own alluring smile as she looked at those still in the room. "This will indeed be interesting," she mused in her native tongue, a wicked grin on her lips. She turned to Amin, motioning her head towards the stairs. "I'm soloing this one for now. Make things interesting." she grinned, turning and running up the stairs, leaving her brother with the fox, witch doctor, and grumpkin.
    Amin sighed, looking back at Bambi just as the door opened and in slinked a slightly battered Ryker. His eyes widened as he took in the forming black eye. He shot a glance at Ki, who as usual was snarking up the situation, and watched as Kalyani twisted around suddenly.
    Once she heard Bambi's exclamation, her eyes had shot straight towards Ryker. She immediately felt her pulse picking up in anger, her breath hitching in her throat. She saw red.
    Someone had assaulted her student. She reacted immediately, jetting forward to grab the boy, but of course he knew what to do by now and she stopped midway in her approach to let him into the kitchen. "Bambi," she called brusquely, all traces of fun and joking gone from her voice. She knew the vampire didn't particularly need the first aid kit, but she also knew the witch doctor well enough to know she would insist on it. "Get the first aid kit, and come back immediately. The kitchen is off bounds for everyone right now," she added, her gaze falling over those in the room, before turning around and heading straight for the fridge. She grabbed an Ice Pack, contemplating its uses, before tossing it in Ryker's direction. "II realize it probably isn't much use, but humor me. It might help with the bruise at least."
    She closed the door, striding over to stand next to the boy, arms crossed as she gave him a once over. She flushed, her nostrils flaring. "Who did this to you?" she demanded, a look set to kill on her face. "Who hit you, and who did you hit? What happened, Ryker?"
    As far as Kalya had been able to tell, no one in the house had known of any fight or alteration that Ryker was going to be a part of. He had made it seem as if he was going to go fucking around. Kalyani suspected that this, possibly, might have been a ruse. That, or the boy had genuinely been caught off guard by some idiot students.
    Outside of the kitchen, Amin was still sitting with Shion, who was giving a puzzled look at the door. "That did not look good," he murmured, and Amin grunted in acknowledgement. He offered a reassuring smile to the small boy, pointing upwards to the second floor.
    "Did your partner in crime leave you, too?" He asked, chuckling.
    Ryker & Bambi
    Ryker only grumbled as he emptied his glass much like an alcoholic would a shot of whiskey. His tongue licking the excess red liquid from his lips with new found vigor. The itching in the back of his throat laxed, and his irritability faded-- somewhat.
    The newly emptied glass clattered loudly against the counter the Vampire was leaning coolly against as he slammed it down. "I took an ax to the back in the sacking of York, where were you two then, hmmh?" he grimaced holding the icepack to his face.
    "This house would never last a Viking invasion," he whispered to himself mentally calculating ways to improve their safety. Putting down the icepack Ryker crossed his arms and legs a displeased look forming between his brows. "I detest fuss, it's off-putting for a warrior," Ryker hissed as Bambi dabbed his eye with the wet rag she'd retrieved after handing Kal the first aid kit.
    "Sure, just like your name's really Ryker," Bambi snorted before blowing her dark brown bangs out of her eyes.
    "We can't all be named after sheep," Ryker shot back causing Bambi to laugh and him to fume.
    "Bambi was a deer, idiot," she snickered.
    "I should bite you," he threatened seriously not caring Kalyani was still in the room. He hated being called names he hadn't picked out first himself. Idiot was surely not one of those names.
    "What, after you save another little girl's bag from a tree?" Bambi teased on, as if she saw through some guise of his.
    "Yeah Bibi I think you left your charity case in the other room," He snapped annoyed with her. What he did or didn't do wasn't anyone else's business.
    "Charity case? Hu, that's not what you were saying this--"
    "Bambi," Ryker warned, his red eyes staring daggers at the girl.
    "What? You think Kal is stupid enough to think some jealous lover got the best of you or something?" Bambi snarked.
    "Stop," he begged only to have the wet rag thrown at him from across the room.
    "Why? So you knocked around a few jerks, tell her," Bambi demanded hands on hips.
    "I dealt with it, leave it alone," he stated coolly.
    "Tell her-- or I will," the girl threatened turning towards the older woman.
    "Do whatever the hell you want, he's your problem, not mine!" Ryker spit emptying his pockets he threw loose change and paper money onto the counter before stomping from the room ignoring Shion and Amin as he made a beeline for his coffin.
    "I told Ryker that some boys were taking money from Shion.... He said he was going to talk to them, he got Alice's pack back so I though he'd help. I didn't know he'd get into a fight," Bambi admitted biting her lip as she went to pick up the thrown cash. "We were just trying to solve our own problems, but getting into a fist fight's just stupid."
    Kalya studied the boys body language, observing where the tension was in his body, and how he held himself. The boy was like an open book, if you knew how to read him properly, and truthfully- Kalya was finding him even more amusing by the second. "I took an ax to the back in the sacking of York, where were you two then, hmmh?" he grimaced, and Kalyani had to smile then. The boy did have some years to him, she would not argue against that fact, but hearing him talk the way he did reminded her of the aged elders in her family. Despite the issues she may have with his species, he was older- she would give him what respect she owed him. So long as it didn't give him a big head.
    She remained silent, observing Bambi and Ryker interacting with each other. Her anger was still there, but it had dissipated some, now that she was coming to understand the situation. As a guardian figure and authority figure, she could not condone violence. Yet, the reasoning behind Ryker's actions kept her lips silent. She eyed Bambi coolly, as the girl openly defied the vampires wishes. Bambi was proving useful in keeping track of the situations her students were being put in, and for that she was grateful. She glared down at the money, not protesting to Ryker storming out of the kitchen. She ground her teeth together, estimating the amount of money Shion had been bullied out of. As she heard Bambi explain fully, she nodded, moving her hands to her neck and rubbing the tension spots out of them. Getting up from her spot, she walked to the Witch Doctor, placing her hand on the girls shoulder and giving it a reassuring squeeze, a smile on her face. "I understand," she murmured, taking her hand from the girls shoulder and taking the money gently from Bambi's hands and pacing the floor of the kitchen. "Bambi, do you know what boys- or girls- have been doing this to Shion? Are they at all connected to Alice's bag getting stolen?" She glanced at Bambi sideways, hoping the girl would indeed know.
    She didn't want to have to get Shion to talk about the bullying she was horribly aware of. With the poor boys track record, he'd clam up, or otherwise freak out. Particularly with Kalya; the fact that she was a much larger shifter than he was, and an alpha female, served to only make him more anxious. He was much better at socializing with those his age. (If they were nice enough to socialize with him.)
    Bambi
    "I don't know," Bambi mumbled rubbing the bridge of her nose with annoyance. "I've only ever been in the theater once, and that was when Alice asked me to help her find it on the first day. I mean... Truthfully, uh... I just think it's more people think she's a freak. It's probably another girl in her class- where as, Shion is just an easy target. Ki knows the boys bothering Shion but he told me he enjoyed watching the drama too much to interfere," Bambi accused openly as if Ki was just as much to blame.
    Letting out a deep sigh of regret. "Unlike Ryker... Who didn't want to be thanked but did it anyways. I kinda feel guilty now," Bambi admitted. "I'm going to go apologize, I guess sign me up for Kitchen duty Thursday," The girl conceded defeat in the challenge other members of the house were busy trying to win. She loved competition but this wasn't something she had to win.
    "About celebrating this weekend, I know Alice wants to Ice Skate, but it's supposed to be really nice and I'd like to have a big picnic at the park or a cookout in the backyard instead of being inside all day." she admitted grasping the door frame before smiling softly to her guardian.
    "Come on Shion," Bambi nodded towards the smaller boy as she passed him in the hallway, "I think I might need a witness If he tries to bite my head off or something," she laughed moving towards the stairs.
    Kalya nodded, allowing the girl to walk out of the kitchen while smiling back. Her mind was whirling though, trying to put things together and not succeeding. She'd need to talk to Hiroki. The fact that the boy knew who was tormenting Shion and hadn't at least said something rubbed her the wrong way. She knew helping people out of charity wasn't his style, but still.
    Outright calling Ki out on knowing who was bullying Shion wasn't going to get Kalya very far. He'd just dismiss her, probably go on about he doesn't owe her anything, or something of that sort. She might have to be more sneaky in getting him to open up and share information. True, this approach would be fairly manipulative, but sometimes that's what it took to get things done.
    Shion's head perked up, as he twisted around to look at Bambi as she headed towards the stairs. He paused and looked at Amin, who nodded towards the stairs, giving the young kitsune the go ahead to go with Bambi. Shion scrambled to get up and go along with the older girl , not entirely positive about what was going on, but willing to offer his support. He didn't say anything, he just walked behind Bambi, until they made it to his bedroom door. He raised his hand to knock, pausing. He glanced at Bambi, not sure how she would react to the rooms decorations. He had been thrown off when he had seen Rykers so called 'bed', though Miss Kalyani had pointed out that Shion's bed was considered just as weird by some of the other species. He knocked, two quick pangs against the door, then reached for the handle to open it.
    Amin stretched out on the couch, surprised to find how comfortable it actually was. No wonder so many couples had sought it as their makeout spot during the party. He grinned, though his relief at being alone was short lived as Kalya closed the door brusquely, striding out of the kitchen quickly. She stopped suddenly, turning to Amin. The two stared at each other, then Kalyani blinked. "I thought everyone had gone back upstairs," she stated, though Amin wasn't sure if this was meant to tell him she wanted the living room empty, or it was just a statement. "Fraid not," he supplied stretching back on the couch once again. Kalya nodded, biting her lip in thought. "Amin, do me a favor." She walked towards him, kneeling in front of his face. Quickly and quietly, she told him about Shion's situation. He listened attentively, though he made sure that his face was expressionless, as if it was just pointless gossip the woman was telling him. "I realize that Shion already has people watching out for him. I'm not saying to babysit him, he needs to be able to stand on his own. I fully believe he can, it's just he has to find the opportunity to stand up for himself."
    "Of course it's only been a short amount of time you guys have been here, so things will likely calm down," she lied, her eyes shifting to the side. Amin knew that whatever was going on with Shion, it likely wouldn't calm down for a while. Shion had a target on his head that you could see a mile away, and he was young and naive. Amin nodded, "Sure thing Kal. I'll keep an eye on him, make sure no one goes too far in bullying him." Kal nodded, standing up. "Thank you," she smiled, heading towards her office door. "Do me a favor and get Hiroki to come down here."
