    LONG SUMMARY
Inside, there’s a party raging. HARRY is about to seal the deal with the girl of his dreams. ZAYN is undefeated at beer pong, on the verge of passing out, and enjoying being the center of attention. Somewhere, LOUIS is miserable and looking for a way out. NIALL has already thrown up four times and can’t find his shirt. LIAM really, really regrets ever throwing the party. However, being inside is a hell of a lot safer than being outside.

    Outside, there's the apocalypse.

*Let me know if there's anything you want to change! I just threw this together.

    SHORT SUMMARY
Five boys, one house, disaster lockdown. What could possibly go wrong?

    PLOT
Zayn/Harry, Liam, Niall and Louis spend their college days playing music in a low-scale garage band. After they play the biggest show of their musical career, Liam decides to throw an after party to celebrate. The party goes off as normal — Zayn's running the beer pong table, Niall's a hot mess, Harry's looking to score with anyone willing, Louis is miserable and hiding in a corner, and Liam's regretting the whole thing.

Then weird things start to happen — lights start flickering, the Wi-Fi goes out, no one has cell reception (maybe Louis tried to call himself a cab home and couldn't?), and car alarms start going off outside. When they go outside to investigate, they realize something isn't right. Enter the apocalypse.

    CHARACTER INFO
    Zayn Malik · 21 · Drums · Photo
The only reason Zayn's in college is because of a music scholarship. In exchange for waived tuition and free room and board, Zayn is also on the school marching band's drum line. College gave him an opportunity to escape his subpar home life, in which his father drinks too much and expects him to become a doctor, his mother is having an affair with the next door neighbor, and his younger brother ran off and joined the military as soon as he turned eighteen.

At school, Zayn is an entirely different person. No one knows much about his past and he makes sure to keep it that way. He joined the band during his freshman year and instantly found three comrades in his bandmates. They're the ones who encouraged him to accompany them to parties and brought him out of his shell. The band and his bandmates mean everything to him; there's nothing he wouldn't do for them.

    Liam Payne · Lead Singer
Liam is one to work hard in his education and even harder when it comes to the band. While it might have started off as fun, it slowly became work for him as he would continuously push himself harder so that he doesn't mess it up for his bandmates. So when the band gets their biggest reception to date, he thinks it might be a good idea to throw a little party in celebration. He doesn't talk much about his journey to college, only sharing the fact that he has to become a teacher to appease his parents.

    Niall Horan · 19/20 · Guitar · Photo
Niall took a year off from his studies to work on his music career (with the band) and if he's being honest, he's just really lazy and couldn't be bothered after high school to pursue a higher education. Music is all he has and he's pretty confident he's going to make it successfully enough, much to his parents' dismay. He camps out with whoever will give him a bed for the night (mostly Louis) since he can't really hold a job for more than a month due to his overly relaxed (again, bordering on lazy) nature. Niall isn't a total mooch, he'll bring the beer to the party with whatever money he has saved from his short job stints, and when he does party, he's a total animal. Despite being Irish, he can't hold his liquor all that well.

Despite his aversion to hard work that doesn't have to do or further him in music, he's an all around likeable guy and easy going. He's friends with everyone.

    Harry Styles · 20 · Photo
Harry grew up with everything he could ask for. His father is a very rich and powerful man who pulls whatever strings Harry wants pulled. He has never had to do much for himself and the band was the first thing his father didn't help with. After a year or so, Harry was kicked out of the band because he slept with Zayn's girlfriend. Harry tried to plead his case that he was drunk and barely remembers what happened but it wasn't enough for Zayn. Harry then gave up on the band and started a solo career which hit off rather quickly thanks to his last name and money. He became very arrogant and sleeps with anybody and everybody that he wants to.

Harry was invited by his ex-bandmate and friend, Niall, to celebrate the band's success. He quickly accepts to piss Zayn off and to possibly shag as many people as possible.

    Olivia Schultz · 21 · Photo
Olivia is Zayn's ex-girlfriend and is a dance major at the same university as the boys, where she met Zayn in a freshman art course. She has an affinity for partying and wound up sleeping with Harry after getting particularly drunk not long after her and Zayn's one-year anniversary. While she genuinely regrets doing what she did, because Zayn won't even speak to her or let her apologize, she kind of stopped caring. She gets invited to the party by Harry, not knowing it's Liam's party or that Zayn's going to be there; Harry invites her just to spite Zayn, even though deep down Harry wants to show Zayn that it meant nothing.

    THINKING POINTS
    Apocalypse or other disaster?
In the film, it’s the biblical apocalypse. In our story, do we want it to be the apocalypse that happens or a different kind of disaster? Basically, why are they on lockdown and what’s happening outside that prevents them from leaving the house?

I could do the layout if no one's opposed to it. We could also request a banner from mibba stuff as well.

If you want to do the layout, that's fine! Mibba Stuff makes awesome graphics so I'm definitely not opposed to that idea.

    ---

I'm really excited to be working with everyone! If you know anyone who'd be interested in writing for Harry and Louis send them this way!

I think everything kind of rides on our decisions to the "thinking points" so I'll include my opinions below. Feel free to disagree/tell me I'm an idiot/tell me why I'm wrong — that's the whole point!

Just the boys or boys + OCs?
    1) I kind of like the idea of making this an AU. If we decide that the boys are going to play roles similar to those in the film, it's more believable that — for example — AU Harry and Louis don't like each other because of XYZ reasons than non-AU Harry and Louis don't like each other for XYZ reasons. I hope that makes sense. 2) Personally, I like writing OCs and if it's a party, there's going to be a lot of people there anyway. I'm down to write an OC. However, we can leave it open: if you want to write an OC you can and if you don't that's okay too. 3) Depending on how many of us want to write OCs, some can serve a purpose and others can be background noise. This depends.

What roles are the characters going to play?
I really loved the exaggerated characters in the film. I would like to do something similar in ours.

    Apocalypse or other disaster?
I vote for apocalypse but not of the biblical variety. I don't know shit about biblical events.

Sweet! I'll get to work on it soon :)

Well, I liked the idea of them being in the recording studio when the apocalypse hit, but that doesn't mean they have to be famous. I mean, they could be just like, a garage band too. Where is this story going to take place by the way? I see it in California, but we can do it anywhere if you want.

I'm not opposed to writing an OC either. I'm just curious about in the movie what exactly is James' craze for Seth is, because, if we can do that in here, I'm definitely not opposed to writing Niall as having a huge crush on one of the other boys. If slash isn't anyone's thing though, we can leave that relationship out. Again, I haven't seen the movie so I don't know if James likes likes Seth or if it's just some obsessive fan thing.

I definitely see Niall as that guy who has lost the shirt and has thrown up four times already XD But that's just me. And I can see Liam as the guy who threw the party but that's up to Halliwell.

So what kind of apocalypse should it be? Zombie? I don't really know any other ones beside those. Unless it was of the WWIII variety and atomic bombs were going off everywhere and spreading radiation.

I really like the idea of the boys being in a garage band. The two boys that don't get along could be one that got kicked out of the band or is the frontman for a rival band, maybe?

In the movie, James and Seth are just really good friends. They've done a bunch of movies together and it's really just a tongue-in-cheek play on that. James is a bit too protective of him, has a "SETH ROGEN" painting hanging on the wall next to one that says "JAMES FRANCO" (he painted both of them), and he's always taking Seth's side. It isn't romantic, it's just…obsessive, I guess is the best way to describe it.

I also saw Niall as that guy, and Zayn as the king of the beer pong table, Harry the one that was about to score with the girl, and Louis the miserable one in the corner. But, like you said, those decisions will have to be made with whoever writes them. I can slot in Zayn and Niall in the summary though.

I was thinking just regular apocalypse. In the film, there's sinkholes everywhere and everything's on fire. Basically, the whole city of Los Angeles goes to shit. I don't really want to do a zombie story since there are a bunch of them on this site already. We can leave it open-ended, as in we mention what's going on but don't give a cause for it. The boys just come to the conclusion that it's the apocalypse and leave it at that.

Sure! How would he be back though? The other one, or maybe one of the ones that actually likes him (the one who gets along with everybody?) could have invited him?

    Okay, sounds good :)

Yeah I know what you mean. I like that :) Maybe everyone else could be in a craze to get supplies and shelter too. What's the conflict of the story going to be though, like what are the boys trying to do besides survive?

Basically, just dealing with one another/the OCs if we include them. They may think they're all great friends and get along great, but then they're thrown into the apocalypse and it's mayhem. I'll just use examples from the movie to give you an idea:

    - Jay wants nothing to do with being trapped at James's house. He wants to leave but Seth refuses to go back to his house. He'd rather stay with his friends.
    - Jonah REALLY hates Jay. Like, a lot. They get into a fist fight at some point.
    - Danny's character shows up out of nowhere and cooks all their food. So, they have to figure out how they're going to survive with no food (they eventually travel to a nearby neighbor's house and raid their cabinets) and no water (they have to break through the floor to get to it in the basement).
    - They kick Danny out and he eventually becomes the leader of a cannibal group, lol.
    - Emma Watson comes back to the house (she was at the party) and steals everything they have to drink.

Basically, scenarios like that. I don't want to copy the film, obviously, so just things along the lines of people not getting along/trying to figure out how to survive.

I like the idea of making it an AU. And it makes sense not to specify the apocalypse too much since the main focus is on the people in the party, and I'm assuming the readers will only know what the characters do (if that's what you're going for Shifty).

I'm down with writing an OC, but I like the idea of doing a bromance too. I think I'll see where this is going first to see what fits better.

In regards to who you see the boys as, I was definitely seeing Louis as the miserable one too, moping about how he just wants to get the hell out of there xD

Alright, so I'm going to mark it down as definitely being an AU. We can decide on the specifics of that later, and then we can decide about OCs and all that.

I'll add Louis's part to the summary now.

I'm going to write up a character bio for Zayn now. If you guys want to do yours as well, that'd be a great start! I'm thinking Zayn will mostly take after Jonah in the movie — he loves to party, have fun with his friends, and be the center of attention, but the 'bad boy' side of him really hates someone else's character and for the life of them, they cannot get along.

Also, what's everyone thinking age-wise? Since someone has their own place, I was thinking maybe 23-25ish, but if we do a college-themed AU and the party takes place in a frat house or something, that'd lower their ages. I dunno, what do you guys think?

Since the boys are around that age, and you guys are talking about garage bands, it seems fitting that they'd be in college, throwing this big ass frat party. Drunk

Yup, totally agree. Okay, so is everyone good with it being a college frat/garage band AU? I'll make Zayn ~21ish.

I agree with Liam being the one who regrets throwing the party.

So are the five of them in the garage band, right? And it's a big party that was hosted by Liam who originally thought it'd be a great idea but then it turns out to be the worst idea he's ever had because of now being stuck with all these people in the different stages of drunkenness.

Have you seen The Day After Tomorrow? What if the apocalypse they're in the midst of is catastrophic weather, paired with building and ground caving in. Maybe their place was newly built with extra sturdy structure so therefore it's safe to be during this time. Then during the time they're locked down in the place, some could go down into the basement to look for supplies or something and the place gets hit and the doorway gets blocked which cuts off the ones in the basement with the ones on the above ground. The darkness, plus the close confined space would make for tough times for them.

I like the Day After Tomorrow idea a lot! We'll definitely have to incorporate that somehow.

So, do we want to keep with the garage band idea? Maybe Liam decided to throw an "after party" of sorts for a big local show they just played and it all starts from there?

Who's going to be in the band? Someone has to be the one Zayn doesn't like, so either one of them can be in it. But we can figure out those details later.

I'm seriously going to get my character bio up soon. I got distracted with food. tehe

Yeah, I like that a lot. Maybe if I feel insane wants, Louis could be the one that was kicked out? Cause I can see Niall being that person who likes everyone. And he invites him.

It's okay, I currently have to do an assignment and an essay due for this week so I'll be a little hard pressed for time. I have next week off though :)

Yeah, Liam could throw an after party in celebration for how great the show turned out (the biggest crowd they had ever played in front of). And if no one joins in Harry's spot, he could always be the one Zayn doesn't like.

Everything sounds good to me. I think I'll make Harry the one that Zayn doesn't get along with, unless someone wants their character to be in that spot.

So far the plot looks like:

We can figure out the rest as we go along, i.e. what exactly the weather conditions are, what the conflicts are going to be, etc. Once we get all that sorted, we can pretty much figure out a chapter outline.

Now, does anyone feel strongly either way about OCs? Of course we can make mention to random characters here and there, but I mean OCs that are going to be major characters throughout the story.
