depends when you got the implant in. if it's within the first six months of being put in, it's still taking time to work. if it's after that, i'd speak with your gp. unfortunately it isn't guaranteed to work, i'm on the implant and i have always had really heavy periods so i know the pain. don't get my period AS often, but when i do it's usually really bad. my doctor suggested switching to a different contraceptive to lighten the flow like the coil but i'm far too scared of it to be honest.

- Really bummed because I've bled again. :( The implant hasn't worked in the way I hoped it would. Is there anything else I could try that might stop periods?
Any input is appreciated, thank you! I'm seriously reconsidering it, just a little scary. I do need my periods to lighten up! However, I'll obviously need to wait unitl all this blows over, but I really think I may get it done once it's available to me. Lasts longer and seems to be more beneficial. I can do the speculum so, yeah, I should be alright! However, my implant will need to come out and I know that I'll need to wait a month in between or something I remember my doctor saying.

Hi! Sorry to butt in over a week later, but I really do recommend the coil / IUD. I know the procedure is a bit scary but if you've ever been to a gyno and had to have a speculum fitted to check what's going on down there, that's the worst part. So if you can handle the uncomfortableness of a speculum, you'll be absolutely fine!
Also, it made my periods super light and has made my sister's stop altogether.
absolutely fine, like i said before, any input is welcome! my periods are already all over the place unfortunately, and i'm on the implant at the moment. i had no periods for two years the first time round, but now, my periods are just as they usually would be; irregular, painful, heavy and just vomit inducing. it's an absolute pain. like i said, i may give the coil a go and if it doesn't work out for me, i'll probably just head back onto the implant or even just stay off birth control for a while. although, i really, really don't want kids at all, so i think being on any birth control would be better than nothing.

Hi randomly chiming in sorry, but I've had my IUD since May of 2019 and it's been...weird I mean the first few months my periods were super super light but came pretty regularly. Then I would get them like every two months. And now it's just all over the place. The only way I know it's coming is really bad cramps the week before. I'm considering taking it out and going back on the pill but I wanted to give it another chance cause it's been I believe 3 months since I had my period last. So either that was the last one forever or it's gonna come again randomly.
Just letting you know my experience with it
