I don't want to go through a full page of blogs by the same person. It's rare, but annoying when it happens.

I was thinking of a limit of maybe one blog per hour. Even every half hour might be fine, as long as you can't post 30 blogs at the same time and let some other people's blogs get seen. It's not too ridiculous, and should keep some users from taking up multiple pages of blogs.

I know what blogs you're talking about. They're real people too, not bots.
There was one girl a few months ago who posted like five solid pages of blogs about paganism and lithomancy.
    And the guy yesterday.

I think every half hour would be nice.

How would you propose this be enforced though? Blog mods delete the blogs and tell them to wait x amount of time to repost?

I thought it could be something more automatic, like a block that prevents you from posting more than one per limit. That way the blog mods wouldn't have to waste all their time on it.

I gotta admit that I'm not a huge fan of this idea.

Aside from the fact that I wouldn't want someone telling me how often I could blog/how many blogs I can post at any given time, I'm not even a huge blogger, but I know that there have been instances when, even if I waited one hour, two hours, three hours between posting blogs, I would still have two or three blogs on the first page simply because that section was slow at that time of day.

Also, though I know I'm by no means representative of all of Mibba, most of my blogs are written in advance on my phone and saved in drafts beforehand because I don't always have internet access or I'm not at my laptop to get on Mibba, so whenever I am able to actually post them, I'd rather just post what I have instead of putting it off and then having five different blogs that need to be posted instead of just two, if that makes any sense.

Not being a hater, just providing the other side of things.

I do like the initial sound of this idea (30 minutes isn't too long of a wait), with the additional reason that it could prevent accidental double postings. My only issue is how this isn't really a frequent problem on Mibba, and sounds more like an annoyance than anything else.

I can understand it being an annoyance because I feel the same way when it happens, but at the same time what they're doing isn't exactly breaking the rules, either, as long as the blogs aren't considered spam in any way.

Maybe instead we could have a way to filter out blogs by username. Not blocking them in any way, but just like how Google does it. Like how on Google, if you type something in you can tell it to not show certain results. Like you can do "-site:youtube.com" so nothing from Youtube shows up while you're browsing that one time. Maybe we could do something like that, but maybe do it so
"-username here" or even "+username here" if you're looking for blogs by certain users, something like that.

I don't understand why it would matter. I read blogs for the content, not for the user. If it were the same blog being posted again and again or not worthwhile, original content then they'd be deleted anyway because they'd be spam.

I think it would probably be more annoying for those users that post a few blogs a day around the same time, and this wouldn't allow them to do that. Like, there's hardly ever an instance where the same user posts a whole page of blogs and when they do, it's easier to just click to page 3 or wherever to avoid them if you wish than it is to add a limit that would affect everyone on site, not just those that don't like having to go through a few extra pages of blogs every so often.

    I don't agree with that.

We should post as many blogs as we like. They are our blog entries and we should be able to write what we want and devide them to different blog entries if we want.

I mean if I have a lot want to share and because I want the title to match what I'm writing about, I post different blog entries. There was a day when I posted five different about different topics.

If you don't like the topics someone is posting about, skip them and go to another page.

I think maybe at most there should be a wait of 5 minutes between postings. That way it can help cut down on spam (save the moderators some work) and help eliminate accidental double and triple postings. However, I don't think it's necessary to put a limit of 30 minutes between posts.

Even though I recently just came back and probably won't be active in the blog section, I highly disagree. This is like me going to your tumblr, facebook, etc (if you have one) and telling you that you can't share or post a status except for every half an hour or you can't share this or talk about that because it annoys me. People don't post blogs for everyone else's entertainment or enjoyment. They are personal things, some use it as a way to vent. I think it would be terrible if someone was upset and they couldn't blog because of some silly time limit.

I do like the idea of a filter or perhaps a collapsed list. Like how facebook does comments. Say the person has posted three blogs instead of showing all the blogs it could go:
Username Posted (#) Blogs (+) to view.
and you'd hit it so it would go
    - I dislike trees. 29 minutes ago
    - Pet Peeves about stories. 33 minutes ago
    - Lists and examples suck. 37 minutes ago.

    Etc.

I just don't like the idea of limiting a person's writing because someone somewhere finds it annoying or an eyesore. These aren't bots... they have feelings, and they pour their feelings and passions into their blogs. If we start that... then we should start limiting how often people update their stories/post stories. Can't start a new story until the other is finished.

I feel like this needs to be a temporary thing for now, as long as there's 5+ spambots posting 100+ blogs a day. It would probably make it easier for the admins to catch them and delete the spam before they clog up 4/5 pages. Just a thought.

    >.> I kinda agree that maybe there should be sometime kind of rest period in between blogs that are posted but as someone who has written a crap load of blogs and been active in the blog sections recently, I kinda feel like that this is more of a personal gain kinda deal. A filter would definitely be much better.

I don't agree with this, not at all, because if I don't have internet at home and I have limited time at the internet cafe to post a bunch of things I had written at home that I wanted to share, I wouldn't be able to post them.

I think there should maybe be a cap on the number of blogs you can post a day? Like 5? Maybe 10? Just so there isn't pages on pages of spam. It'll be easier to manage?

I also like the idea of the blogs being put into folders. I think it would be a good way to tidy up!

I think a half hour or hour would be really helpful, actually. I know people will post five times a day about five different things - for whatever reasons - and that is fine. But I have seen a few different users sign up and then import ALL of their blogs from other websites. It's obnoxious and annoying. And spam, not to mention. There should at least be something in place so one user cannot take up a whole page in the blog section, simply because the people who have done this (that I've seen) usually have something 100-200 words OR all in one paragraph with bad grammar, etc. And I know it's petty, but I just think that's really irksome. No one wants to read blogs from Vampire Freaks 2006 or wherever these people import from. And most of them just end up inactive a few days later, too.
