Death stood on a tall sky scrapper, high above a city. It was night here, his dark cloak hiding his form from human eyes, as he watched the forms below. Humans, going about their lives with no worries. It had been a long time since Death was that carefree... that ignorant. So now he was here to take a soul to its final resting place. That was his job now.

((Sorry! I added more... but apparently not. So this is 'new' death. Basically he's been death for quite a while, but he doesn't ever visit the others. He keeps to himself... that's about it... maybe something threatens the universe and him and fayte have to partner up?))

(Ahh, and okay. I feel sorry for the universe since we keep threatening it though... maybe like the apocalypse or something... they could either be pro or con for it. Either way, it could be interesting...)

(I'm not sure we should connect it to Heaven's xD That might get a little too confusing. My sister thinks our characters should be pro-apocalypse -she's sitting in my room right now- I don't know if your new Death would be that way though... I don't believe Fate would be... maybe they come together to stop it by searching out and destroying the other three of the Four Horsemen?)

Fate could be patient. Patience hadn't come easily to her when she'd been alive -human that is- but she'd learned it in the years that she had taken the office of Fate. That was why she waited so long, she supposed. The letter had been simple enough, and she knew he had received it. He was simply ignoring her request, and days had turned into weeks, and now the time was nearing nearly three months since she'd sent the note. He could've seen her within hours or even less, quite easily. This was the point where her patience ran out, and she ventured beyond her little hidey-hole. She skipped Death's home altogether -Purgatory wasn't a pretty place, and actually rather volatile; besides, the likeliness that he would actually be at his home was slim to none. So rather than that, she headed straight to Earth, using the string of his fate to find him. "I summoned you weeks ago, Thanatos," she murmured to him warningly as she found him atop an extremely tall skyscraper in some city. She was standing behind him, staring at the silhouette of his back since he had yet to turn around.

Death didn't show any outward sign of recognition as Fate talked. He continued to stare at the city, just waiting for someone to die, "I thought my silence was answer enough." He said to her, voice deep and emotionless, "I've found that an apocalypse might bring some... entertainment into an otherwise dull existence." Finally he turned, his black eyes meeting hers, "I suppose you don't feel the same." It wasn't really a question. If she had she wouldn't have sent the letter, wouldn't have searched for him.

"We exist because of and for humans," she told him, meeting his dark eyes. "What I propose is that we hunt is kill the other three horsemen. Of them, you're te youngest, meaning the most human, and the most rational. Just think about what an apocalypse really means.... Aside from more work for you that is." She felt mildly guilty about it, but she had every intention of killing him as well, after the other three were gone. She felt it was the only way though.

Death snorted, "As if my brethren would be that easy to kill." He stepped off the edge of the skyscrapper and walked to Fate, stopping right in front of her, "I may be the youngest out of them, but I've long ago lost my humanity." he shrugged, "How do you plan on fighting them anyway?"

"I know they wouldn't be easy to kill," Fate shook her head, sighing softly. "As for how... There's an object that kill us. It takes in the essence of the office we fill. Then the essence can be either given to another, or put into an object of our choosing. I am purposely being vague though, since you haven't made up your mind on whether to help me." She watched him, trying to determine what he would choose. While she held the fates of everyone though, those who were supposedly immortal like herself were hard if not impossible to read.

Death continued to stare at her, eyes pitch black, "Yeah? And what's in it for me? Nice condo on the beach? All I can eat buffets?" He snorted, his version of a laugh, "There's nothing you can say that'll make this fight worth it to me. But go ahead and try. What do I get out of this?"

Fate considered him. This was the anti-social Death who basically refused to communicate with any of them, despite that at times they did ask favors from each other and such. This was a hard, cynical man. "What do you want?" She finally asked. She knew of nothing she could offer him that would persuade him to her thinking.

Death thought about her answer, and could only come up with one thing, "Freedom." He said, "I want to be free of this office. I want to be able to wander the world without the worry that I'll accidentally take another's soul." His black eyes hardened, "So, do we have a deal?"

Fate was moderately surprised, and wasn't even sure if she could take the office from him without killing him, if she could, she would, and let him live. If not, then she'd planned on killing him anyway. "We have a deal," she agreed with a nod.

Death held out his hand, "Humans have this tradition. When a deal is made they shake on it," He said, "I've watched them, and it seems that by shaking their hands they've signed some sort of agreement." He gave her a humorless grin, "By shaking I agree to help you... and you agree to give me my freedom."
