Emmet just got out of early soccer practice and hit the showers. He cleaned up before dressing and heading to his locker. Coach was a killer. They seemed to practice morning, noon, and night but really it was just a rotating morning night practice to keep the body adapting and getting stronger. Keller pulled his blue beany obee his chesnut hair. He grabbed his books shoving things in and out of his locker before slambing it shut. He was texting his friend as he walked down the hall not paying attention to the halls as they became crowded. Emmet smiled as he read his text just putting his phone away in time to catch some girls books before she dropped them. "Whoa there slick." He said and smirked down at the girl.

North walked down the halls pulling her black hoody over her head and pulling the sleeves down anxiously. She pulled the side bag further up her shoulder and dodged around the people till she fot to her locker where she shoved in hee bag grabbing a few rhing shut it and clung to the books in her hands a pen squeezed between two fingers. North was quick but not quick enough to avoid the football players rough housing. She was new here sure but all schools where the same. There where the jocks, the emo, the pretty, the Tom girls, the geeks and freaks, and finally the outcasts. None of which she fit in with. No she was the lone wolf that avoided everyone at any cost. North didn't want to go through the hassle when she would be gone in half a year max. That was her life, since she was thirteen. If only she had been three years youger at the time then she might have had a chance but not anymore. Some said she was headsd for juve but she sdidn't break the law, just social codes. She only did it to stay to herself. People learned quickly to stay away from her. It was just easier that way. She was nearly to the class now, litature, one of her favorites.

Hailee was attempting to get her books together; she had a ridiculous amount of homework. Being in all honor classes was really starting to take its toll on her. Suddenly her books were slipping through her fingers and then, out of nowhere, there was boy who managed to catch them all. "Whoa there, slick." He said. Hailee was sure he was holding back a laugh.

She gave a nervous laugh and mumbled, "Sorry about that." Then she took her books from him and slipped them into her bag. When she looked up and he was still standing there, she said, "Um, thanks for catching my books." She flashed him a quick grin and tucked a lock of hereee hair behind her ear. "I'm gonna go now. Bye!" She quickly backed away while waving at him, then spun on her heel and fast walked to her next class.

David laughed with all the other guys on the football team, playing their games. Even though he secretly despised them all but football was one of many sports pressured on him by his parents. Oh, the luxieries of being rich. Finally he managed to detach from the group and head for class, meeting his sister on the way. She grinned at him and they linked arms.

Hailee was his twin sister, though you could hardly tell. She was also he best friend, the only person he really opened up to. Especially since she was the only one who understood the struggles of being a child who belonged to the Blake family.

They arrived in Literature where he took his seat in the very back. He noticed there was a new girl, sitting right beside him. Her head ducked down, obviously trying not to be seen.

Emmet smiled as he watched her feeling a doffey smirk form on his lips as he watched tuck thqt red hair behind her ear. It was a simple move but made him want to do it to. When she waved qnd ran off he menrally kicked himself in the ass. He should have gotten her name. An angel with a pretty fave but no mame would haunt his thoughts all day if not into the night as well. He heard the late been and cursed under his breath and ran to class. She smiked as he slipped in nefore the teacher. He sat down and greeted some people he knew. It was important to keep up appearances buy he could care less. Emmet sat back in his seat listening to the sound of the teachers voice droning on as he tried to capture the beauty of he moment with his nameless angel in lyrics.

Once North slipped from among the players slidding through a gap she was free to slip into class and into an empty seat. She pulled out her sketch pad and pulled her hood closer. She and tuhhed at her sleeves. It was one of the many nervous habits that she had. North heard the seat next to her become occupied but she didn't look up. She really hoped today she could slip by unnoticed. She sighed. Only six classes to go. North put her pad away as the reacher came in. She grabbed a notebook amd flipped through it until she foumd the right page. North bit her lip as she consentrated putting her pencil to her mouth every now and then. She was trying desperatly to stay inconspicuous but some how she could feel the eyes on hee. That's what happened when you came in the school year late but she was use to all this.

Hailee flopped down at her desk in the very front. Now that she was away from her brother, her mind drifted back to the encounter in the hallway. How could I be so stupid, she thought.

He had been beautiful, honestly. The artist in her had wanted to sit down and draw him. She mused as to when she would see him again, but then again, seeing him again might be too embarrassing.

David couldn't stop his eyes from drifting to the girl next to him. She was quite lovely and had a cute nervous habit of gnawing on her pencil. David, who had never been shy, was kind of unsure how to approach her and he very much wanted to speak to her; to see if her voice was just as lovely as she was.

As the class was ending he got the nerve to talk to her. "Hey, my name is David. You must be new here.. Uh.." He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, "Well, I guess I was wondering what you were doing after school..." His hand gripped the edge of the desk nervously, waiting for her answer.

Emmet was glad when class was over he headed over to his history class. If he wasn't nearly failing the class he would take a nap but he had ro gt that grade up. Emmet smiled thinking of the girl. He wanted to know about her. So he started to poke around socially getting only a last name Blake. People called them the Blake twins appeeently her family was loaded. He could have slappes his head. Stupid what jad he gone and said auch a stupid thing? She must have thought he was a lazy unintelligent boy. But he was morw then that ans he knew it. Emmet had a lot to offer and maybe she would she him as more then he looked on the outside.

North looked up at him. She had been ready to scat out the door before he had caught her in this social exchange or names and other things. North looked anywhere but at him for a while before finally figuring out what to say. "Don't waste your time." She said and then walked out of the class and toward her locker. She had no reason to give him her name, he didn't earn it by giving her his name. She wasn't a normal person or just a pretty face and ahe already coukd rell rhat she wouldn't fit into his world. North was unusual and she wouldn't change that. There was no point she would be gone in just a short time anyways. She has to admit though that he was handsome.

Hailee was daydreaming as she walked to art class. About a world where she was just her and everything was as she wanted it to be, and no stress. It was a lovely world she had created for herself under the pressures of being a Blake. She collided with a solid figure and tumbled to the ground.

"I'm so sorry!" She exclaimed. "I need to get out of my head more often." She grabbed the hand reached out towards her. When she stood, she saw the face of the boy before and her face flushed. Seriously? Again? He is going to think you're a total clutz, she thought to herself.

David stood there, dumbfounded. Had he just been turned down? He didn't think that had ever happened before, and it kind of stung. Though, he had been right about her voice. It was just as lovely as he imagined it would be. He mentally kicked himself and headed out of the classroom and headed for his next class.

Emmet chuckled and helped her up. "I don't mind bumping into a pretty face but I think you have to give me a name for the second time." He said and smiled. He looked down at her picking up her things and handed them to her. Maybe she would let him walk her to class. He had math next and he was pretty good at it so he could be a little late. Emmet smiled and stretched his hand back and rubbed the back of his neck. She was so cute and yet she made his mind think things he rather not think to be a gentleman.

North went to her next class but it blurred by. As lunch approached she took her bag and headed oit of the school past the football feild and slipped into the woods. She smiled as she slipped throught the woods finding a place to sit rhe sun shinning on her face. She sighed and put her hood down and pushes up her sleeves. She smiled as she started to eat watching a little chipmunk play.

She giggled and looked down, her cheeks becoming an even brighter red. "Thanks. My name is Hailee," she said as she glanced back at him and brushed her hair out if her face. He was cute. Really cute. "I'm headed to art, I better not be late." She grinned at him and started to make her way around him.

David was standing on the football field when he saw her slip into the woods, the girl who had denied him. She had definitely peaked his interests and he was determined to find out more about her. He separated from the guys and slipped into the woods behind her. He silently followed her and watched as she got comfortable. Then he stepped out from behind the the trees and said, "Hey..." He hoped she didn't freak out.

Emmet smilled. "Well it's nice to meet you Hailee. I am Emmet." He said. He grinned as she went to go to class. He smiled and turned watching her leave. "See you later Hailee." He said and smiled brightly. Emmet walked backwards a while before headed to class. He smiled that stupid smile again as he walked in thinking of Hailee. He rubbed hks head pushing his beany down his head.

North squelled and jumped up her lunch dropping. She quickly pulled her sleeves down but didn't quite hide the red on her pink skin. "What are you following me for?" She exclaimed and ran a hand through her hair. North looked around nervously. She didn't want to be in this situation not knowing what he wanted. North fidgeted pulling at her sleeves and bitting her lip. "W-what do you want?"

Hailee couldn't wipe the smiling face of Emmett out of her mind. He was completely adorable and so normal. It was like he didn't know who she was and that made her happy. Finally, someone who isn't intimidated by knowing who her family was. It was a nice change, indeed. She locked away the thought of asking her brother if he knew the boy and got settled in her desk.

She drew mindlessly throughout the class. Not really thinking about it. When she finally sat back in her seat, she realized she had attempted to draw Emmett. She quickly hid her work, not wanting anyone to notice.

David noticed the jagged lines on the girls wrists as she attempted to hide them. She was quick but not quick enough. He decided to not say anything about them for now and answered her question, "I wanted to get to know you. You slipped away and well.. That just made me want to know you more." He looked at her intensely and he say down, legs criss-crossed, in front of her.

"Just give me a chance. Please?" He pleaded with her, hoping she heard the sincerity in his voice. Hoping she realized that he wasn't like anyone else.

Emmet made his way to his next class soon enough. Then it was lunch time and he was relieved to get out of class for a while amd dabble with his lyrics. Emmet wasn't an ordanary jock. He liked verity, and he liked Hailee Blake. He heard some tjonhs anout her. Like how eberuguy was scared to ask her out but every guy wanted to. Well Emmet didn't care whay people said or did. He was gonna get to know this girl and she would be his date to homecomming. It wasn't for a while but he had to jump on the opertunity now.

North crossed her arms looking down at him. If you can solve my riddle then I will give you a chance." She said and watched him waiting for a confirmation. She sat down again and thought about how to phrase it though she had said it so many times. "I start at 0 or 360 but have no end, I define all other directions but people see me as the top. The arrow points to me when I am being true. I have the only other pole, and I always cold. Where am I?" If he got this she would only tell him why she wouldn't give him a chance. But she would say nothing if he couldn't get it. North leaned back against the tree and picked up her lunch.

The bell rang and Hailee gathered up her things and headed for her locker to receive her packed lunch. She headed outdoors to the memorial garden and and sat down with her food. No one really ever came over here so it was perfectly quiet for her to work on her homework and any drawings that needed to be tended to.

She hummed to herself as she brought out her sketch pad and turned to the page where she had drawn Emmett. It definitely needed work.

David thought for a moment and the exclaimed, "North!" The chipmunk that had been sitting with them now ran off. "The answer is north." He grinned ear to ear, knowing he had got it right and she hadn't expected, or possibly wanted, him to get it right. He looked at her expectantly, waiting for to hear her lovely voice again.

Emmet found that it was getting too noisy in his normal spot so he got up and drifted around going here it was more quiet but when he heard the yumming he smiled. Could it be? He rounded the corner. "Hey Hailee. You sound great." He said smiling and coming closer sitting beside her and pulled out his lyrics to work on them. It was nice here. Quiet and calming. Emmet looked over at her and chuckled. "You don't mind if I stay a while do you?" He asked and smiled though he was already staying.

North frowned slightly. He had gotten it so easily. "Congradulations David you know my name. Now look I wont be around here much, I will be leaving soon. So just trust me when I say tht it is better for the both of us if you just stop taking an intrest in me. "People like you never stay in contact once I leave, no one does, it's to much work. So please drop it before someone had to get hurt." She said and finished her food just in time to hear the bell. She sighed and stood. "Don't get me wrong, it was nice to meet you David." North said and picked up her back and walked out of the forest hoping she could make art before the late bell.

Hailee heard him coming up behind her and quickly covered her sketch pad. She definitely didnt want him seeing that. That would make very awkward conversation. "I don't mind." She smiled in his direction and grabbed the apple sitting in front of her and started nibbling on it.

He stared after the girl. Now he had a name to go with that pretty face; North. It was unique and interesting, just like her. He wasn't giving up though. No matter how much she insisted. He ran out after her and managed to grab her arm and stop her, "Now you listen. I'm not that easy to get rid of. I'm not giving up, so don't try to make me." He pushed up her sleeve and kissed the scars there. "You're beautiful, don't forget that. And you will be seeing me again." He pulled her sleeve down, winked, and walked briskly to class.

Emmet smiled. "So Hailee, why is everyone afraid of you?" He asked having moved to sit beside her. She smelt so nice. He leaned in looking at her. He grinned as ahe looked up towars him and thwir noses could have touched. Emmet sat back after a slight pause his arm over the benchs back. He smiled as he waited for her to gather her thoughts and answer.

North turned holding back a scearm as he grabbed her she looked up at him sacred. When he pulled up her sleeve she gasped and watched his lips meet her scars. She was relieved as he pit her sleebe down and walked off. She stood there trembling slightly. North heard the late bell and cursed. She ran off to class though she felt like crying. No one had pushed thay far before. She had kept people out so long she didn't know how to let anyone in. North sat in her seat the teacher saying nothing. She had forgotten to put up her hood in the chaos. She slipped ot om now sinking further into her seat as she drew. She took out her colored pencils and started to draw those eyes and normally she liked lines that didn't belong but showed how the airtist created but here there was no mess, there could be no flaw.

Hailee's breath hitched in the back of her throat when she saw how close Emmett was to her. "Why is everyone afraid of me? Hm.. I don't know. I suppose it's my parents. Or my lack of actually having anything to do with anyone because I'm always so busy. But not everyone is afraid of me.. You aren't." She bit her lip and looked at him shyly.

David slipped quietly into the classroom and into his desk. My he teacher didn't even realize he was late. He couldn't believe he'd actually just done all of that. Normally, it didn't matter. Normally, he wouldn't have bothered. North made him actually feel something though. They way she pushed at him like no one had before. He needed it; to feel alive. He figured that maybe, just maybe, she needed what he was doing too and maybe they needed each other.

Emmet smiled. "Yeah you're right I'm not afraid. And honestly I think you that you haven't found any on worth enough to take up your precious time Ms. Blake." He teased and pulled out a granola bar and took a bite. After he swallowed he smiled at her. "Don't worry I think that will all change very soon." He said and smiled. Emmet wanted to be the one to break her boring routine and let her experience life. After all thing always get so serious when you grow up.

North handed in some assignments and started a new project before class was over. She slipped out of class trying to avoid David but there he was in her next class. How unlucky could she get, two classes in a day. North felt like she should walk back out now but the teacher walked in and she took her seat. She looked any where but at him. She ran a hand through her hair under her hood. All she could hear in her head was the echoing of his voice, You're beautiful, don't forget that. North bit her lip sighing. She just wanted this day to end.

Hailee giggled at his remark. "Is that so?" She raised an eyebrow at him, suddenly becoming serious. "Honestly, I wouldn't expect you to stick around. My school work, art, piano lesson, dance, and several sports I participate in have to come first. Always." She looked down. She wished desperately for friends but because of those very reasons, she didn't bother. She had David and David had her and that's always seemed to work really well, though he's all been able to juggle social events pretty well and maintain a few friends.

David knew it was North when she walked in, like a deer in headlights when she spotted him. That should've hurt his feelings, but it didn't. He knew that he was gonna be that girl's first real friend, wether she wanted him or not. How lucky could he possibly have been to get her in this class too? He was personally filled with joy upon seeing her.

Towards the end of class he managed to make her way towards her and poked her. "Hey there. Am I allowed to say I told you so?" He gave her a Cheshire Cat grin.

Emmet chuckled. "Sure and the last time you had a day to yourself to just breath was when?" He heard the bell ring. He leaned in to whisper in her ear. "How about you play hooky one day this weekend and come on a hike with me? Nothing funny promise. Just think about it." He stood. "See you around butterfly." He said grabbing his bag and taking off. He felt nervous now. He played it cool but now that he was away from her, he felt like he was gonna come apart at the seams.

North stood jumping as he poked her. "T-told me so what?" She asked lookimg up at him then anywjere but at him her mouth open slightly. He was getting to her and it made her want to run, cry, scream, anything but tell him all her secerates and be hurt worse then before. At least she hadn't liked the last friend she had made. She had learned her leason though. Friends where for people that had a home, a family. North gathered her things and pulled it close to her like a sheild between her and him.
