Elwin stiffened as she moved closer to him, holding his breath and grimacing. Her scent was so overpowering, it was unnerving him. "Ever heard of personal space?" He snapped, snatching the tablet out of her reach and shoving it in his bag. He had no intention of making friends with the girl, or answering her questions. She was probably only trying to pry into his life to get some gossip on him, anyway. Pushing his chair back, he hung his head as people looked in their direction, the legs screeching against the floor. "I would say it was nice talking to you, but I'd be lying."

Arabella jumped retracting her hand and sitting back down. She was shocked by his sudden outburst and felt the rejection all the way to her core. "Oh, I uh,"she stuttered through her response. She wanted to feel hurt or maybe even have some witty way to make him stay. She didn't though and that was the worst part. She felt herself get angry, but mainly at herself. "No, please. Keep your fucking seat," she spat. She stood, pushing the table and walking out of the cafeteria as quickly as she could. She felt the quick on set of anger fade into anxiety and she couldn't make it back to her room. She collapsed right outside of the cafeteria in a grass patch, but as soon as her hands touched the grass, it wilted. She sucked in a breath and grasped her hands onto her arms. "Fuck me," she whispered.

(Hey all, new to this rp. Hopefully my starter doesn't suck xD)

Kyle sighed lightly as he gelled up his hair. He hummed lightly as the music blared through his earphones. He knew he had woken up late, and probably missed dinner because of his long nap, but he figured they would have something at least... partly edible in the cafeteria. He laced up his boots, before grabbing his leather coat, and cruising out of his room. He thanked the cafeteria lady a little to loudly, partly shouting as he tried to speak over the music emitting from his earphones. He glanced around and saw that it seemed as if everyone had there own little groups. Since he is the only child, Kyle didn't care about being alone. He always found ways to entertain himself.

Kyle went over by one of the large windows, and grabbed an empty chair before sitting himself infront of it. He took small bites at his food, in between songs. While the songs played, he would tap his fork against his tray in a rhythmic notion, and mumble the song lyrics incoherently.

Dexter meandered into the cafeteria, going and getting his usual fare before sliding into the seat in front of Ian. They were both werewolves, but Dexter felt he'd been at a slight disadvantage as opposed to the rest of the werewolves here. Technically, he didn't have a pack. He'd been abandoned very young, then brought up like a normal human, before he'd found out about his abilities during puberty. As if he hadn't had a difficult enough time in the first place. He was clumsy and lanky, but he felt he was likeable enough. At leAst, he hoped so. "Hey man.." He said to Ian, a small smile cracking across his face. "How's it going?"

"Well, Megan was just telling us all about the snakes who got loose during her fifth period," Ian said, smiling at Megan before he looked back towards Dexter. "You didn't hear anything about it, did you? I'd like to know who did it, but we don't know any of the details as of yet." Ian couldn't help but want to know all of the secrets of what went on at Hawthorne, even if it was something as stupid as a little prank. If it was going to turn into something interesting, he wanted to be the first to know it.

Lizzy smiled slightly at Rose, placing Thera back into her bag home, before her attention was turned upon the numerous other people walking into the cafeteria. "Ur, it was nice talking to you Rose... Shit, I'm bad at this. I bore people, sometimes. So, I think its time for me to bore someone else. You can come if you want." Picking up her food, making sure that her bag was still on her shoulder, she walked over to Kyle. Lizzy didn't talk to many people, but some people by the way of how they dressed or acted caught her interest.

"Hey, can I sit?" She asked in a monotone voice, soon sitting down, not caring if he said yes or no. "I can't remember if I've asked you this.. Do you like spiders? Like, ya know, tarantulas? Cause if we don't we will have a problem" With an attempt of a smile, she sighed. "I'm joking. It is boring around here, you gotta talk to more people to keep the place...Well, not boring" Picking up her third salad leaf and placing it into her bag, she looked at him. "You must be....K-something...Urm...." Lizzy, to be quite fair, was crap at remembering names. She only remembered the name Rose because it was her favorite flower.

Dexter grinned, chuckling softly. "Gosh, I wonder. Maybe one of the Gorgons?" He asked. There were a few who went to the school, very noticable by their snake hair. Thankfully, none of them turned people to stone. "I'm sure we'll find out who eventually."

Rose felt sad that Lizzy felt she was boring her, or was it that she herself was too overbearing? She hoped not. She felt like she'd cheered Lizzy up and she hoped she was right. That was one thing she was acually good at. Helping people and helpin them accept themselves.

(No problem, congrats on the niece or nephew!)

Kyle continued to sing the song lyrics inbetween bites only turning his music off when he saw someone approach him. He took the earphones out of his ears as he looked to the girl. "Hey, my names Kyle." He said with a friendly grin. "And yours?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. He turned his music back on, but lowered the volume, so that he was able to hear her clearly.

"I honestly don't know how I feel about arachnids. I've never had to think about them as...well," he paused for a moment as he thought of the right word to say. "...people." He finished with a shrug.

Rolling his eyes, Elwin watched the girl leave, muttering profanities under his breath. He hated the place, the people, the teachers - all of it. He hated it so much, he'd rather be dead. Again. Trudging through the tables and people, he tried to block out their thoughts, grinding his teeth at the boring, mundane topics they wondered about. Making a face, he walked past the table of dogs, holding a finger under his nose to stave off the ungodly smell of mutt. He sneered at one that looked his way, grinning at the middle finger he got back in return.

Pushing through the double doors to go outside, he breathed in a lungful of fresh air, cleansing his senses. He was about to go over to his tree, when he saw the annoying girl from earlier, collapse onto the floor. He wouldn't have paid her any attention at all, had he not seen her literally kill the grass beneath her fingertips. Quietly impressed, he wandered over. "That's a pretty cool party trick, how'd you do it?"

Arabella glanced up at him and down at the grass he was looking at. Why was she not surprised that killing something impressed him? She rolled her eyes, not exactly keen on that being the only reason he wanted to talk to her. "I didn't mean to," she whispered. She grabbed a flower off a nearby bush and it wilted slowly in her fingers before she crunched in her hand. She wanted to think her power was as impressive as he did, but she couldn't. She didn't think death was impressive. Why couldn't she have gotten a happier power?

She let the pieces of the flower fall from her fingers. She didn't exactly know what to say because about 5 minutes ago, this boy had wanted nothing to do with her. She smirked at how twisted her life had become in such a short amount of time. "It doesn't work on me," she added, smirking again. "That would be to easy."

[no worries! This is like a totally new sort of rp for me so sorry my posts are kind of sucky. I haven't written much this last year.]

Elwin watched her crush the flower between her fingers, intrigued. She had the same kind of morbid, sarcastic sense of humour as he did. Wanting to run away and hide himself, he forced himself to take a step closer, digging through his bag for a pack of smokes. "Let me guess? That wouldn't work on me either, right? Figures. I'm not that lucky."

Dumping his bag on the ground, he plonked himself down onto it, trying to act like he was confident in his actions. Truth was, if he was still a human, he'd be blushing up a storm. "I'm Elwin. I'm anti social, sarcastic, and a bit of an asshole. And that's when I'm in a good mood." He smirked, offering her the packet. "Want one?"

(No, your posts don't suck, they're good! :D)

Arabella knew her confusion was written all over her face, but she accepted the cigarette pack gratefully. She didn't smoke, but something about it felt right. There was some metaphorical resonance that if she went to a real school, she would have to write a paper about. She twisted it between her fingers, waiting for the lighter.

"Arabella: cynical. Lucky for you, my friend. Sarcasm is my primary form of communication," she said, smirking softly. She didn't comment on her not being able to use her 'magic touch' on him because it was pretty evident nether of them actually wanted to die; they weren't invinscible. "Do you often offer girls cigarettes after blatantly insulting them?"

He took a long drag of his cigarette, sucking the nicotine down and blowing out the smoke on a sigh. Flipping the lighter between his long fingers, he handed it over, studying his new found friend through narrowed eyes. "We should get along just fine then," he muttered, arching a brow. Twisting his body into a more comfortable position, he crossed his legs and leaned forward, picking up the remnants of the flower that had met an untimely end. Letting the shrivelled up petals fall from his grasp, he glanced up at her. "Oh, all the time. It's foolproof, really."

Snorting, he blew out smoke hoops, watching them wither in the breeze before turning his attention back to Arabella. "So," he announced, pointing his finger at her and flicking the ash off the end of his cigarette, "what are you doing in a place like this?"

Arabella lit her cigarette with ease and sucked in a shaking breath. She felt the smoke crawl into her lungs and it retched out of her quickly. She coughed, dropping the cigarette to the floor and a blush flooded her cheeks. "Thought I would try something new," she commented, stamping the cigarette out on the floor. "Sorry, I wasted it," she added, feeling her embarrassment creep up her spine. She smirked when he mentioned his full-proof plan; she enjoyed his sarcasm.

She watched him blow smoke with in a sort of trance, easily entertained to distract her mind from the things that were much worse. "Why'd you say it like that?" She asked, commenting on the you. "I'm a regular rebel, a total badass. I belong in a place like this, or somewhere worse," she said, joking. She hoped her humor would distract from the real reason because the past was just something she wasn't ready to rehash. She stared at the grass, touching each blade individually and watching it wilt. There was something peaceful about it, about death in this way, but she knew it was really just another way to distract herself.

Elwin barked out a laugh, quickly covering the sound with a cough. He could be really rude, sometimes. Shrugging, he continued to puff on his own. "S'okay, it's just a smoke. I get them shipped in by the carton load." Lying back in the grass, he slotted an arm behind his head as he blew more smoke circles. "Besides, if I'm ever short, I'll know where to come." He lifted his head and smirked, letting her know he was messing around, the corner of his mouth tilting up in a half smile.

He lay back down and watched the clouds float across the sky as he considered her question, contemplating his answer. He didn't want to come off as too rude; she was the only person to acknowledge his existence, so far. He detected a hint of sarcasm, but frowned, she was definitely hiding something - but weren't they all? "I meant that, this place is like, some kind of prison for the gifted. Your trick isn't exactly a gift, is it?"

Arabella shrugged, glancing down at the smiling boy and trying to smile back. "Yeah, I guess it can be a prison," she said, but her eyes drifted to the groups of students laughing and walking by. "Some people seem to enjoy it. It's like a spectrum. You can be here just to learn because you want to or you can be here to learn because you have to." She glanced up at the sky, but was never exactly sure how anyone just sat and stared at the clouds prancing by; she needed far more entertainment than that.

"No, I wouldn't call it trick at all. I wouldn't call it a gift either. I'd sell my soul to get rid of it," she said, chuckling a little. "I'm pretty sure being a vampire must have its ups and downs though," she said, trying to devert attention from herself. Admittedly, she used to be pretty self-absorbed and she probably still was, but it was easier to not talk about her naw found power.

"Well, I'm certainly in the latter category, I hate it here." Taking one last puff of his cigarette, he flicked the butt in the direction of a group of girls that had just sat down near them, smoking billowing out of his mouth as he snorted at the whines and shrieks. He laughed at the unpleasant things they were all thinking about him, grinning harshly back at them.

"Ain't a party having no soul, either, trust me," he muttered, moving his attention back to Arabella. Pulling himself up into a sitting position, he picked at the blades of grass at his feet, trying to block out the cat calls in his head. "Being a vampire sucks sometimes, sure, the sun burn in summer time is a killer! But being a vampire with the "gift" of reading minds? That sucks so much harder!"

Arabella nodded, knowing that everyone probably had different burdens, but she had forgotten that vampires could read minds. "So, you know like everything I've been thinking?" She blushed, suddenly embarrassed by her girlish and foolish thoughts. She had wanted to appear strong, and probably didn't anymore. She shook her head again, knowing that even while she thought all of this, he knew it.

"Wait, so why are you here? There are plenty of vampires in the world, so why do you need to be here?" She asked, knowing that he probably had to be for a reason. If he hated it so much, he obviously wouldn't voluntarily stay, but rather go live his life that will never end.

(Sorry about the late reply, I got sick Sad)

Elwin sighed, loathe to explain it. “That is where the misconception about vampires lies. Many people think we can all read minds, but we can’t. There are only a select few of us that have the ability; it is considered a great gift.” He rolled his eyes, sarcasm heavily weighed upon the last part. “I consider it a burden, an annoyance. My “parents” think otherwise, that is why I am here. They want me to nurture it, to learn from the greats and hone my skill. I couldn’t care less.”

Taking out another cigarette, he lit up and smirked. “And yes, I can hear everything you’re thinking. I agree, clouds aren’t that much entertainment, at all.”

Arabella chuckled awkwardly, brushing fingers through her hair and relishing the smell of his smoke. She didn't smoke herself, obviously considering her previous failure, but she liked the way it smelt and the way the smoke curled gracefully in the air. "My parents made me come too, but under different circumstances," she added, smirking at his comment of her previous thoughts. She wondered what it would be like to hear everyone's thoughts and also try to sort out your own; she barely managed her own thoughts.
