Elwin watched Arabella closely, his eyes narrowed as she played with her hair. She was deliberately trying to quieten her thoughts, and he wanted to know why. Why she gave such an evasive answer to his question, why she was thinking about things he thought she wanted him to hear. Taking a long drag of his cigarette, he stubbed it out onto the grass, no care in the world that he would probably be reprimanded for it by the academy’s security staff. He didn’t want to push her to open up, but he did want to know why she was there. “You wanna get out of here?”

Arabella glanced over at him, her nervousness at his ability to read her mind increasing steadily. She watched him stuff his cigarette out on the grass and sighed, another thing dead. She glanced up at him when he asked her to leave. "Is that even a question?" She asked, pushing off the ground to stand and leaving behind wilted pieces of grass. "Where would we go?" She asked, raising her eyebrows. She knew that Elwin could probably easily get out of the school, but considering she wasn't in here under the same circumstances as he was, she wondered if they would try to stop her from leaving.

Elwin got up off the ground, wiping any stray bits of grass off his ass then reaching for his messenger bag. “Follow me,” he murmured, not bothering to check if she was, indeed, following him.

There was a spot in the woods that surrounded the academy that he liked to go to be alone, a place that the campus security knew nothing about. Crossing the sports field, he took a right, then a left, kicking through the piece of fence that he’d managed to pull loose when he first got there. Dipping down, he climbed through the hole, pulling his bag through after him then held the opening open for Arabella to get through. “Come on, it’s not too far from here.”

Elwin shot up so quickly that for a moment she marveled at his grace, but knew that she had to get up in order to follow in a much less graceful fashion. She followed him around the school, nervously glancing at everyone that watched them. When they reached the hole, she took a step out and once she was through a very strange feeling washed over her; freedom. No one was watching her and no one knew anything about her, not really. Elwin was clueless, seeing as she can so carefully sort through her thoughts. "Yeah, okay. How'd you figure this out?" She asked, looking around at all the trees. "Are you sure we're gonna be safe?" Then she laughed a little at herself, if anyone tried to touch her they would die, so in some ways she was always safe.

Elwin looked back at her over his shoulder and smirked, stepping through a cluster of trees into a wooded clearing. "Let's just say, I happened upon it one day." He carried on walking until he reached a single tree, stood by itself, its branches dancing in the breeze. Hiking his bag further onto his back, he prepared to climb its trunk.

He moved with ease, his abilities helpful for once. Climbing to the very top of the tree, he took a seat onto a thick branch, one he had frequented many times before, hooking his bag onto a protruding bump in the tree. There was enough room for Arabella to sit next to him and have room to move around, Elwin patting the space next to him. "To answer your second question, yeah, it's safe. We can see everything and everyone from here. It's pretty amazing." Digging through his pockets, he pulled out a pre-rolled joint and lit it, blowing the perfumed smoke into the air. "Want a toke?"

Arabella watched Elwin climb up the tree with ease and marveled again at his grace. She would never be able to replicate his movements and she twisted her hands together. "I can't..," she said, she held her hands out like she was guilty. "I wish though. I'm sure it is an impressive view." The pang of guilt and jealousy hit her stomach and she tried not to cry. Instead, she looked up the tree which was tall, magnificent and probably began growing here a few hundred of years ago. She shook her head when he offered her a joint, glancing around the forest and looking off into the distance at their school. Perhaps Elwin forgets that his vision is significantly better than her own and to her, they all looked like ants.

Elwin felt like an ass, remembering her little trick. Moving off the branch, he grabbed his bag. “Sorry, I forgot about..yeah. I’ll come down.” Stubbing out his joint and re-pocketing it, he jumped off the branch and landed onto one just below his previous position, ducking and weaving through them like he was performing a dance. Landing on the ground with a huff, he grinned up at Arabella, showing her a brief glimpse of his fangs. “Go for a walk instead? I might just tell you about the stories I’ve been hearing around here..”

Arabella was getting a little tired of ogling at Elwin's abilities, but decided his grace was probably something she would never get used to. "Yeah, I would love that," she said, smiling and turning towards the direction he was facing, waiting to get started. "It's really nice out here," she commented. She glanced back at Elwin, her fingers itching for some human contact and she blushed, knowing he probably heard that.
