Wave of spambots

Seems like there is a wave of Korean spambots posting on the site recently. I've been reporting a few of them since I got on just now to help flag the botting accounts. Hopefully an admin or mod can get on a clean up this mess. Meanwhile, should people even bother reporting them? I've stopped now, realizing that maybe I'm doing more damage by clogging up the report box.

Would a mod or admin like to advise us what to do in this situation?

The actual reporting system itself (the button you see on stories) doesn't work at the moment, so if you ever see anything in the future, you're best to report it to the relevant staff (story editors for stories, poem editors for poems and so on so forth) via PM. We actually get the report that way and we're never going to be annoyed with anyone clogging up inboxes -- we actually appreciate the help at points because we can miss things occasionally.

In terms of those stories that appeared today, we've actually been reporting them to the admin staff all day. We're currently waiting on someone getting online to deal with them as the editors themselves can't delete the stories or block the spam accounts. As far as I'm aware, between like 3 or 4 of us, we've managed to report the majority of them but if you see any over the next few days, it might be worthwhile shooting one of the story editors (minus myself as I'll be offline for about a week as of tomorrow) a PM just in case we've missed it.

Alright, thank you for the info. I'll be on the look out and know what to do from now on.

Recently I've noticed the same thing. Except for today when I went to the main stories page, those Korean stories have gone all the way to page 100. Normally they'd have a break at about page 5 or 6 but the whole thing is completely spam stories now.

This really freaked me out when I came on to look for new stories and I'm relieved it's not just my computer. It's definitely all 100 pages now!

I'm currently in the process of deleting through and banning all of the accounts responsible -- it might take a while, as you can imagine, but it's going to seriously mess up the story page anyway. I didn't realise it was right back to page 100 so this is going to take ages to rectify but the staff are definitely aware and are dealing with it at the moment!
