Me too! And I'm definitely enjoying writing this with you guys!

    And here's Shaan's part.

    - - - - - -

I was officially late for practice.

I've never been late for practice before and honestly I didn't want to start now. But obviously it was too late. I was going to have to run laps or do one of the worst exercises ever for my tardiness. This had better be really important.

I was called to the counselor's office with no explanation whatsoever. And I've been sitting here for about twenty minutes (though it felt like hours) and they haven't called me in yet. This was really frustrating and I was ready to get up and say "fuck it" and just head to practice.

The door finally opened and one of the counselors stuck her head out and called for me to come into her office. Letting out a sigh I get up from my seat and walk inside.

When I'm inside she asks for me to take a seat and I notice another presence in the room. The boy sitting in one of the seats opposite the counselor's looked bored and uninterested. He was slouched in his seat with his arm propped on the arm of the chair and his head resting in the palm of his hand. I'm pretty sure I've seen him around before but I couldn't place his face with a name.

I was just beyond confused. What the hell did he have to do with me? What the hell did I have to do with him?

He looked at me with his bored eyes as I silently took the seat next to him.

"You're probably wondering why you're here, Shaan?" The counselor lady asks.

"Uhm...well, yes, because I'm kinda missing practice for this and I'm confused about what's going on."

"Sorry to keep you from your practice, but we couldn't think of anyone else for this. You were the first person we could think of."

"For what exactly?" I ask slowly.

"Sawyer, here, isn't doing so well in his classes and we thought that you could help him get back on track," she finally explains.

I look over at the boy sitting beside me who looked like he was passed out. Was he seriously sleeping right now? He definitely looked like he didn't even want to be here.

    "Uhm..."

I didn't know what to say. I'm flattered that they thought I'd be perfect for this, but he was obviously uninterested and I just don't know if I can deal with his "I dont care; I really don't want to be here" attitude. I'm a hard worker and I like for things to be perfect and in order. Sawyer, on the other hand, looked lazy and uninterested and I'm pretty sure he was sleeping right now!

I bite my lip and look back at the counselor. "I don't know if I can."

"If he doesn't pick up his grades he won't be able to graduate," she explains.

That's his problem, not mine. If he was concerned about graduating he wouldn't be slacking off.

"I don't -" The counselor gives me a pleading look and I sigh. "Fine, I'll help him," I say glancing back at the boy.

To my surprise his eyes were on me. I quickly looked away and then back at the counselor. "Can I please leave now? I'm super late for practice."

"Yes, yes, thank you so much Shaan. You're just going to make sure he stays on track for the duration of the year."

    So, basically I'm babysitting him?

I nod and give her a forced smile before standing up from my seat. I glance at the boy one last time without saying anything before exiting the room.

As I made my way towards the field for practice I kept thinking back to the boy, Sawyer, I think the counselor said his name was.

"You don't have to feel obligated to help me."

I jump at the sound of the voice and turn to see the uninterested boy standing before me.

"I don't," I say. "I just dont want to see you throw everything away. You've made it this far why suddenly stop trying now?"

He gives me a skeptical look before shrugging. "Whatever," he says stuffing his hands in his pockets and walking away.

I let out a frustrated sigh as I watch him walk away. This was definitely not going to be easy I felt like he was going to give me a hard time. I let out another sigh as I continued to practice. Why did I agree to this again?

This made me so late for practice I was definitely going to be running laps or coach would make me do burpees. Fuck.

I thought about just skipping practice because I was still really confused and frustrated with this whole "helping the lazy boy who doesn't even care if he fails" thing. But I thought better of it and decided to sick it up and go run a couple laps for being late to practice...or do fucking burpees.

    I DID IT!
Let me know if I need to fix anything or if you guys might have some suggestions? :)

Thankfully, the universe decided that it still needed me to keep on living because the best thing did happen.

I didn’t get hit by that car, in fact I only got a bruise in my arm from the person who saved my life. It was a guy who went to my school, his name is Acrimony. Somehow he managed to take me out of harm's way, which is great but his attitude after wasn’t the best.

I mean, I do appreciate the fact that I did not break a bone or. . . died. . . but I know that if I saved someone from a similar situation, I would make sure the person I saved was okay. I’d check for injuries, see how they’re feeling, maybe calm them down and crack a joke to make them feel better. It just seems like something you should do. . . unless your name is Acrimony.

According to said person it’s okay to yell at the person you just saved. Then again it was just a crazy all around event so I decided not to pay any mind to what he said.

If I had to replay that day again, I would still risk getting injured to save that adorable kitten. Whom I returned to the owners who spent all morning thanking me and ensuring that I was in fact alive and okay.

I ended up being late to school that day, which did make my parents worry but after telling them what had happened they were understanding. After the rumors seemed to calm down at school and the event became old news, it dawned on me that I never actually said thank you to Acrimony.

I knew I had to but wasn’t sure how to because a “thank you” isn’t enough when someone saves your life.

So I asked Chester and my parents and now here I am, with a small box of cake in my hands, the type of cake that a lot of people at my school were constantly buying or posting picture of. I figured Acrimony had to be a fan of it too, and if he wasn’t. . . well. . .

My eyes continued to scan the hallway as I walked by numerous students. I rushed past the few I was familiar with even though I knew they needed to ask me something or needed my help because I felt thanking Acrimony was slightly more important at the moment.

Thankfully I found him in the next hallway, standing at his locker with another person. When I got closer I recognized that it was Shaan, a male cheerleader who was standing next to Acrimony. Shaan was standing pretty close to him so I had to clear my throat to get Acrimony's attention.

“What the hell do you want?” he asks. I’m taken by surprised at his tone but I don’t let it stop me from saying what I’ve been needing to say.

“Hello Acrimony, I just wanted to formally thank you for what happened a few weeks ago. I know it’s been a while but I really appreciate what you did and I hope this is okay” the words spilled out of my mouth. I was polite and calm, hoping that maybe it would change his tone of voice, but it didn’t.

“Just fuck off Porter, it’s old news, move the fuck on already” he growls, yanking the box away from me and shoving me back towards the direction I came from.

    I was shocked.

I know not everyone is the nicest person though.

I just sighed and went on with my day, I did what I had to do, now I can focus on helping me friends.
