Why Don't You Figure My Heart Out?

(I will just jump straight to the night of dance for Brooke and Steve to avoid any confusion.)

When Bucky had asked her last week if she could dance to 50's, Brooke admitted to Bucky that she was only a good dancer after a few drinks but even then it was still hard to call in dancing. The week had been busy as she had been sent on a few missions and had only visited Bucky twice. Tomorrow was a day off, she asked for leave just so she could sort out her flat and the 100 other things she needed to deal with. But her focus was on tonight as she looked in the mirror wearing her dress, it was quite the find. Brooke decoded against keep the flower the dress and finished her hair which had been curled. Admittedly Brooke was nervous about tonight but she was sure those nerves would estuary go away as the night progressed.

Steve had found his outfit in no time, Brooke had made a comment when she saw it that he looked a little bit like Fonzie from the Happy Days, Steve eventually found out who it was and apparently he was considered cool. Throughout the week Steve had sent the odd text and phone call to Ana he thought it was best to keep talking. He had also bought her so,e flowers which were currently resting in water in the kitchen as he as going to take them round when he went to pick up Ana. Steve was very excited to start the night as he left his room, "Buck, you ready?" Asked Steve.

Bucky was staring in the mirror and smiled, he looked like a Danny from the movie Grease and he laughed at himself for a moment he didn't think he would actually go with this style if he actually grown in the 50s and he couldn't see his friend adapting to that either. He walked out and shrugged, "yeah I guess," he looked at Brooke and grinned, she looked beautiful, not that she didn't before. "You look great by the way, oh, you too Steve" he chuckled. "You want us to meet you there? since you're picking up your date?"

Ana groaned as she stared in the mirror, "I look gross" she whined and looked over at Emma who was sitting in the sofa, "you look fine, I helped you with your make up and hair, it's cute okay.. I'm sure you'll have the time of your life!" she laughed. Ana sat next to her and sighed, "I should have done the poodle skirt thing, I feel weird in this and just.. I don't know" Emma patted her back, "you look great, okay stop saying you don't"

"Thanks Bucky, I'm getting the Danny from Grease vibe," smiled Brooke, he did look rather handsome. The clothing was nice in the 50's but Brooke couldn't see herself wearing it on a daily basis. "Yeah Steve, we will meet you there, I mean you don't want us crashing your style." Smiled. Brooke as she began to put her coat on.

Steve looked at Bucky and Brooke, they went well together. "Yeah just set off, I will see you there in a bit," replied Steve. Steve headed into the kitchen and took his phone off charge and sent a quick test to Ana On my way, Steve then took the flowers out of the vase and left his apartment.

Bucky grinned, "well thanks, that's what I was going for," he looked over at his friend and chuckled, "all right, I'll see you there" he turned back to Brooke and opened the door, "After you." After Brooke went out Bucky followed and stuck his arm out for her, "we would ruined Steve's style, whatever style he has" he chuckled as they made their way down and out of the building.

Ana smiled and text messaged Steve back okay I'll see you soon! Ana looked in the mirror again and smiled to herself. "You look fine, babe, just go out and have some fun and you better give him a proper kiss tonight" Emma teased. Ana rolled her eyes, "we'll see how tonight goes okay, just.. there's the door I better go get that." Ana walked over straightening her dress and fixing her hair and opened the door.

Brooke took Bucky's offered arm, "It's rather adorable him buying her flowers and all that," admitted Brooke, Steve may not act like it but he seemed to have an idea how to look after the ladies. As they made their way through the streets of D.C, Brooke noticed the occasional glanced they receive it was probably they way they were dressed. "I partly dreading this dance for the simple fact I can't dance," laughed Brooke.

Steve with the flowers in hand made it the distant go Ana's apartment in a short amount of time, when he reached there he rang the bell and waited for the door to open. When Ana appeared in the doorway Steve smiled, "Hello, these are for you," smiled Steve as he handed over the flowers.

Bucky smiled as they walked together down the street, "I feel bad because no girl would be interested in the the 40s and it's stupid because he was a nice kid and when I dragged him out on double dates he'd always be such a nice guy. Paid for the ladies, flowers, the works. I'm glad he's finally found someone who likes him as much as he likes her " he looked at the people staring them down. He wanted to give them the middle finger but he thought about it and decided not to. "Well, I'm a pretty good dance I'll show you how" he grinned.

Ana smiled at Steve who pretty much shoved the flowers in her hand but she didn't mind, she let out a soft giggle, and took the flowers smelling them. "These are beautiful Steve, thank you so much, that was really sweet, let me put these in water and we can leave, come on in, that's my roommate Emma over there." Emma looked up and grinned waving, "make sure to have her in before two am" she teased. Ana rolled her eyes and quickly put the flowers in a vase with water and walked back. "Don't listen to her, she's crazy, well, we're leaving now bye!" Emma waved and went back to her movie.

"I feel sorry for 40's Steve," said Brooke, "But it seems as if this girl likes him just as much as he does. So that is good." Brooke gentle held onto Bucky's arm as the passed through a busy street, "I will remember that Barnes," teased Brooke, "Because if your not a good dancer I'll be a little be disappointed." She ended with a small laugh.

Steve smiled as she went to put the flowers in water. As he stepped inside he gave a quick greeting to Ana's flat mate, Emma. Before anymore conversation could continue Ana quickly steered him out of the door and out of the streets. "My friends are going to meet us there, they are going together," explained Steve as he held out his arm.

Bucky nodded, "I think the serum help boost his confidence a little, I don't think I've seen him ask a girl out before so that is good" he chuckled. "I had to look up the 50s dance craze I'm not going to lie so 50s dancing I can do, none of today's modern dancing though, that's a little much." Bucky looked at the building and smiled, "looks like we're and no, I won't disappoint."

Ana smiled as they walked, "great, sorry my friend Emma loves to humiliate me that's why I didn't let you speak, she embarrassed me in front of most of my dates and it's just not happening again" at least not wtih Steve, she liked him too much. "You look great by the way, very handsome"

The serum clearly helped from what Steve had told her it enhanced most things. Brooke looked up at the building and Bucky was right they were there. Brooke stepped inside the building with Bucky, it was clear that the building was well loved and from the foyer they could hear the music playing.

Steve shook his head, "It's okay, I will just remember to take what she say with a pinch of salt." He doubted that Emma would say anything that would put Steve off Ana, he liked her a lot. Steve blushed a little at Ana's comment, "You look beautiful, the dress really suits you." Replied Steve with a soft smile.

Bucky stepped inside and looked around at everyone and listened to the music and chuckled, "how about we wait for Steve and his date, I'm dying to meet the girl that swept him off his feet" he joked. "Though I'm sure he did the same" he grabbed Brooke by her hand and gestured her to the table of food.

Ana smiled, "good, because she exaggerates sometimes and I don't want anything she says to put you off, because I'm not crazy or anything like that." Ana's cheeks turned a bright when he commented on her apparel. "Thank you," she grabbed his arm, "so how far is this thing?"

Brooke smiled at Bucky, "We might as well, they shouldn't be too long now." Brooke felt Bucky grab her hand and gestured to the table, she gentle shook her head, "I'm good for now but feel free." To be honest the SHIELD agent was nervous about the whole dancing thing.

Steve chuckled a little as Ana grabbed his arm and asked how far away the place was. "It is basically the end of the street." Steve pointed to the building with it's lights on, there was on subtle signs advertising the 50's dance.

Bucky smiled softly, "okay because thse nachos look good," he took a plate and made sure not to spill anything, "food is so good" he laughed. Bucky was constantly eating, his high metabolism was just one of the best and worst parts.

Ana laughed, "the lights were a dead give away, I'm a little weird, you may have noticed" as they walked closer to the building she could hear the music and laughter and she could wait.

Brooke smiled at Bucky as he went to get some nachos. Brooke spotted the bar, a drink wouldn't go a miss, "I'm going to get a drink, do you want one?" Asked Brooke.

"Everyone has a little weird in them," replied Steve as he walked up to the building, he gestured for Ana to take the first steps into the venue.

Bucky was munching on some nachos and nodded swallowing and wiping some cheese of his face, "yeah, sounds great, thanks"

Ana shrugged and took a step in looking around smiling noticing some one by the food table. "I'm going to grab some punch," she smiled softly and started walking to the table, "excuse me" she told the man who was clearly hungry. He nodded and put the plate down wiping his face. "I forgot to eat before I came here" he told her. Ana nodded, "It's cool, I'm not judging, I would probably stuff my face too"

Brooke headed to the bar and ordered two red wines, she waited as the bartender took her order and she paid for the drinks. Taking the glasses Brooke turn around and began to head back to the table, on her way Brooke saw someone talking to Bucky.

Steve followed Ana to the table and saw that it was Bucky eating the nachos. "Bucky," greeted Steve, "Ana this is Bucky, my best friend Bucky this is Ana." Steve introduced the two he quickly glanced around for Brooke and saw that she was returning from the bar.

Bucky set down the plate to clear his throat and wipe his mouth and hands, sticking out his right hand, "oh, so you're the girl that's got my buddy all happy, it's a pleasure to finally meet you" he grinned shaking her hand. "I like embarrassing him often so, if I say anything dont' take it too personally, oh hey Brooke!" he grinned.

Ana giggled and shook his hand gently, "oh am I really?" she turned to Steve whose face was a little pink, "my roommate is the same way he is, so I feel your pain" she said softly touching his face. Turning back smiling at the girl who had brought Bucky a drink, "I'm Ana" she smiled politely and stuck her hand out.

Brooke out the drinks down for a moment as Ana held out her hand. "Brooke," she replied with a smile and gentle shook her hand. "Steve has been very happy since meeting you last week." Brooke noted that Steve had gone a little pink in the cheeks.

Steve was still blushing when Brooke greeted Ana. "I know Brooke through work," explained Steve, he decided it was best to not go into too much detail.

Bucky grabbed a glass of wine and sipped on it placing it back down, "better not leave those there, some kids might get into it" he chuckled and looked at his friend. "Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen him this excited" he smirked. "Okay we'll stop embarrassing you and Brooke and I will finish these glasses up and get to dancing" he grinned at her.

Ana's cheeks grew pink too looking over at Steve, "if it makes you feel better, I'm very happy we met too, oh reminds me, I've got your results, I left them at home" she almost forgot all about them. "Oh okay, she seems very nice."

Brooke smiled in agreement, they should leave Ana and Steve allow it was their date after all. Brooke picked up her wine glass and took a sip, a bit of Dutch courage always helped. "We can go now if you like," Brooke suggested to Bucky.

"Oh great, well maybe after when I take you back I can have look at look at them," smiled Steve as he went to get some punch, Steve nodded at Bucky who mentioned that he and Brooke would leave them be.

Bucky nodde "yeah thats fine" Bucky finished off his drink before looking at Brooke and smiled. "The music is starting come on and I'll show you how yo dance"

Ana nodded "yeah that'd be great. We didn't find anything if that makes you feel any better? "
