"Oh like hell we are," Chris said back. He wanted to let Sophia cling onto him, because honestly, he'd love to just close his eyes and pray it all went away, but he didn't think that was going to work. He moved away from Sophia again and picked up the chair, throwing it at the window. The crack got bigger. He picked it up and threw it at the window again and it finally broke. He covered his hand with his sleeve and punched out the rest of the glass, so they wouldn't get extremely banged up on the way out. "Hurry, get out!" Chris said, grabbing Sophia's arm and pulling her towards the window. They were on the first floor, so it wasn't a very high drop to the ground. "You're mine!" The voice said, sounding louder and angrier than before. "You'll never get away from me. You're mine!"
Peggy had tears moving down her face now, the girl now only two steps below her. "Shhh," the girl said, lifting a finger to her lips. "This wont hurt a bit." Peggy closed her eyes, turning her head away from the girl, scared she was going to attack. A few seconds later, though, the there was a quiet, tinkling laugh, and Peggy got a chill down her spine. She slowly opened her eyes, but the girl wasn't there anymore. Peggy felt like she was going to throw up. "Emmett c'mon," Peggy said, her eyes staring down the stairs where the girl once was.

Sophia kept glancing back towards the door where the voice was being emitted from, thinking that they were screwed. There was no way that she was making it out of there alive. She knew that this was a bad idea but no one listened to her. She was startled when Chris started for the chair once more, trying to break the window open. Maybe they still had a chance. Meanwhile, the voice only started to get more angry and impatient with their determination to leave. Sophia ran to the window when she heard the sound of the glass breaking, sliding out of the window. She only had some minor scrapes from the left over shards but nothing that a little first aid would fix. Standing up from the ground, she started to sprint back towards the fences, wondering where everyone else was.

    --

Emmett backed up once more before using the last bit of strength to plow down the door. "Come on!" He grabbed her hand and sprinted through the door, running through the entrance as fast as he could. Luckily, the stairs were near the front door so they made it back outside within a few minutes. Once they were back out in the sunlight and over the fence, he breathed in the fresh air, bringing her into a tight hug. "Are you alright, Peg? God, I am so sorry that I brought you here." Emmett quickly apologized since he hadn't meant to put her in any type of danger.

Chris ended up with quite the cut on his leg from the window, but he didn't give a shit about that. He was out of the damn asylum and he wasn't going back in. He ran along with Sophia to the fence, quickly climbing up and over it, glad to have that extra layer of not-really protection between himself and Sophia, and the hell hole they were just in. Chris looked around once both of them were safely on the ground. They were on the complete opposite side of where they parked. "C'mon, lets get back to the car," Chris said, grabbing ono Sophia's hand and starting to walk quickly towards where the car was parked. "Are you okay, babe?" he asked, looking at her as they moved. "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have suggested we come here I am so sorry."
Peggy gave her head a little shake, closing her eyes and wrapping her arms around Emmett's middle. "I just want to go home," Peggy said, still feeling like she was going to throw up. She was chalking it up to the extreme terror she just experienced. Thats all it could be, right? She moved away from Emmett, rubbing her face and looking back to the asylum. Peggy lived on her own, she wasn't really sure that she'd be able to spend any time alone for the next little while after what just happened in that building. "We gotta call someone for Jack," she said quietly. "If that... thing got to him and he wasn't fucking around he's gonna die."

With a nod, she ran back to the car with him and leaned against with a sigh. Sophia placed her hands down onto her thighs since her heart wouldn't stop beating. It felt like it was going to explode from terror at this rate. "No. No, I'm not okay. There is something.. something unhuman in that building." She frowned over at him because this all started since he wanted to come here. Maybe she was exaggerating but it felt like they were about to lose their lives in there. "Where is everyone one else, Chris? You can be sorry later, but we have to figure out what happened to them." She reminded him just in time for Peggy and Emmett to exit from the asylum. They looked pretty shaken up. "Holy crap. Are you guys okay?" She asked, jogging over to them across the entrance.

    --

"Don't worry. We're going to go home." Emmett reassured her, rubbing her back in an attempt to comfort her. He grit his teeth while looking back towards the asylum not knowing how to classify what had just occurred. They had just found a dead body in the basement with some crazy girl. "Why don't you stay at my apartment for the night? I don't think we should be alone." He offered since he was going to have some trouble sleeping tonight. When she moved away, he reached into his pocket to find that they were out of range for his cell phone. "Shit. No cell signal. We're going to have to drive a little." Groaning, he heard the sound of a girl's voice, shuddering automatically, but turned to see Sophia. Her clothes were torn a little and it looked like she had been through hell. "No, we're not okay. Chris, you actually brought us to a haunted place!"

    [sorry, i got really busy!]

"Hey you're the one who wanted to go!" Chris retorted. "I just casually mentioned it. You were all for the idea so you had an excuse to cozy up to Peggy!" Chris wasn't going to take all the blame for it. It wasn't his fault that the shit happened in there. Sure, he'd brought up going, but Emmett wanted to go just as bad as him. "Whatever, doesn't matter," Chris continued, giving his head a little shake. "Have you seen anyone else? D'you think they're okay?"
"Just Jack and he's not doing too well," Peggy responded. She took a step towards the car that they'd come in, putting her hand on the back seat handle. "Can we go, though?" She wanted to get as far away from the house as she could. She felt weird, it was a feeling she'd never experienced before. She couldn't really explain it. She just wanted to get away from the asylum and sleep it off. She didn't care if it was at her house or Emmett's, but she just wanted to be gone.

    [It's alright!]

Sophia couldn't help but roll her eyes at the petty fight since that wasn't the problem. Hearing about Jack, she looked down at the ground just past her feet. "What happened to him? What do you mean that he isn't doing too well?" She pushed further to hear the details. Feeling a shiver ripple down her spine, she looked back at the building just assuming that it was its aura. "Please, let's just get on the road and leave. We can come back for Jack with the authorities." Sophia looked over at the other three before getting inside of the car to leave. She was officially done with this adventure.

    --

Emmett frowned right back at Chris but knew that it wasn't the time to be arguing. "We'll talk about it later. For now, let's just get away from this damn building so we can call for help." Running a hand through his hair, he reached around Peggy's shoulder to give it a gentle squeeze. He could tell that this place had spooked her and automatically felt guilty for wanting to come here. Getting inside of the car, reached into his phone to see when they would finally get cell service again.

Chris nodded, climbing into the drivers seat and heading away from the asylum as soon as everyone was in the car. He was speeding a bit, but he needed to get away from that place, just as bad as he could tell the other three wanted to as well. "I don't want to go back there with the police," Chris said, glancing sideways at Sophia. "They're gonna think we did shit there. If something happened to Jack then they're going to blame us. Can we just call anonymously? Say we saw some kids going in there then heard them yell or something?" Chris already went through hell in that place, he didn't want to end up in jail for something he didn't do.
Peggy curled up into a ball on her seat, pulling her knees up to her chest and wrapping her arms around her knees. She kept her eyes on the back of the seat in front of her until the asylum was completely out of view. She turned her attention to Chris when he spoke, and nodded slowly. "Yeah, just call anonymously. I'm not going back there." No way in hell was she going back in there. She didn't want to talk to the police either. They'd probably send her to an operational asylum for telling them what she saw.

Sophia frowned over at Chris because she didn't want to lie to the police about something like this. They probably wouldn't believe them though when she would try to explain that something paranormal happened. They would blame them for everything. "I don't.. Chris, that feels wrong to do." She chewed lightly on her lip while looking back at him. Thinking for a moment, she sighed since this would be the only way to go through with this. "Okay, okay. Anonymously then, but we should do it through a pay phone or something so they don't trace the call back. You heard that, Emmett?" She glanced back in the seat to see Peggy curled up into a ball and Emmett's lips pressed into a firm frown.

    --

Emmett wasn't sure if he could ever go back to his normal life after witnessing something like that. They went there with ten people and only left with four. There were six people still left inside of that building with god-knows-what. "Sure, whatever. Just let the police know that something fucked up happened." He frowned before turning his attention back out of the window, watching the dirt road pass them by. Putting his phone away, he was trying to wrap his mind around what had happened.

"I'll call once I drop everyone off, then," Chris said, nodding. He didn't mind being the one to call, he could trust himself not to give too much away, at least. He knew no one would want to get them into trouble, but he knew Sophia would want to tell the police what happened. He didn't blame her for wanting to, but he just didn't think that was the safest way to do things. "Are you both going home?" Chris asked, looking in the rear view mirror to Peggy and Emmett. He only looked at them for a brief second, then look back to the road. He could see the signs for the highway, letting them know they were nearly bacak to the city and out of bumfuck nowhere.
Peggy half zoned out when they all agreed to just do it anonymously. She snapped back into it when Chris asked what they were doing. She glanced at Emmett, then up to Chris. "I'm going to Emmett's," Peggy said simply and quietly. She moved her eyes to the back of the seat in front of her again, chewing on her bottom lip. She just wanted to be where she could have a cup of cold water, bundle herself in blankets, and go to sleep.

Reaching across the gear shift, she took Chris' hand into her own. They both really needed each other's presence right now to keep each other sane. When they passed the highway sign for the city, she only felt a wave of relief wash over her. There was a reason why she never liked the countryside; there was literally no one for miles upon miles. Sophia continued to stare outside the window until she found the first car. It didn't even bother her when the car cut them off to merge onto the highway in front of them. She was just relieved that there was another presence. Leaning her head against the seat, she closed her eyes to get some rest.

    --

Emmett just nodded in response to Peggy, because he had offered for her to come back to his apartment for the night before. At this point, he was welcoming of her presence. He didn't think that he would have been able to sleep a wink without someone there, as sad as it sounded. That building had really shook him up. Jack was a close friend of his and seeing him like that.. it was just hard to picture again.

When she reached for his hand, Chris looked over to Sophia to give her a little smile. He figured she'd just stay at his place tonight, no way she'd want to stay alone at hers. He didn't want to stay alone, either. He wouldn't be able to sleep without someone else there. If she did want to stay alone for some weird reason, he'd be going straight to his parents house and sleeping there. It didn't take long before Chris was pulling up in front of Emmett's place, and he put his car into park. "If you guys need anything let me know, okay?" He offered, turning around in his seat to look at them. "Call us if you need to."
Peggy nodded, giving Chris a small smile. "Thanks," she said, opening the door. She pulled her hooding closer around her as she shut the door, stepping onto the sidewalk. She pulled out her phone, shooting a quick text to her roommate to tell her she was staying at Emmett's instead of going home. She knew she'd still have someone back at her place, but Kara wasn't exactly the same as Emmett. Kara would think it was weird if she jumped into her bed with her because she was freaked out in the middle of the night. Kara wasn't six two, either, but Emmett was. It felt safer with a big guy around, even if she didn't have anything to be scared of anymore, that she knew of.

Turning back in her seat to look back at Emmett and Peggy, she opened her eyes to offer them to biggest smile she could, which was basically a small crack. "Yeah, don't hesitate." Sophia reiterated before they left the car. When the car door closed behind them, she sighed back into her seat. "Um, do you mind if I stay at your place tonight? I don't feel comfortable being alone right now." She finally admitted while looking down at her lap. Hopefully, Chris would agree to it. She could imagine that he wouldn't want to be alone either after everything that happened.

    --

"Thanks for the ride home, Chris. Get some sleep. Both of you." He nodded before exiting the car. Taking Peggy's hand, he brought her up the stairs to his apartment and reached for the key under the doormat. Even though it was in the most obvious place, it was the sole reason why no one checked there. Opening the door, he allowed her to enter first and securely locked it when they walked inside. He was grateful to finally be home. "Do you want something to drink?" Emmett questioned knowing that he needed some whiskey to just calm himself down. He moved into the kitchen to grab the bottle from the top cabinet and brought out two glasses.

"I figured you would want to," Chris replied. It didn't take them long to get to Chris' place. He parked in his normal parking space and got out of the car. "D'you want to go up? Here," he held out the keys for Sophia to take, offering her a smile. "I'm going to call the police. I'll be up in a minute. Go get comfy. Buddy is up there, so you won't be alone." Buddy was Chris' dog. He wasn't very big, only up to Chris' knee, but it was better company than none while Chris stood outside and called the cops on the pay phone at the corner.
"Just water," Peggy replied. She walked over to Emmett's couch, sitting down on the edge of it. She kept her eyes on the floor as she waited for Emmett to bring her water. She still felt sick. It was just seeing Jack how he was, and being so scared of the little girl. She'd be back to normal in a bit. She just had to get over the shock of what happened. Thats all it could be. Thats all that was logical.

Sophia reached out to take the keys into her hand with a small nod. "Okay, just holler if anything happens." With that, she moved up the stairs to his apartment and opened the door to see Buddy excited to see her. She walked inside while closing the door behind her then knelled down to pick him up. "Hey, Buddy. You've been a good boy?" She questioned before reaching out to touch him, but the dog whimpered and moved away. Sophia frowned because he never reacted to her like that. The dog practically loved her to death. "Okay then.. Let me feed you at least." She stood up and moved towards the kitchen to pour some dog food into the bowl. Feeling a small shiver go down her spine, Sophia felt like it was colder inside the apartment than normal. It was odd.

    --

Emmett came back with the two drinks and held out the glass of water to her. "Peg, how are you feeling?" He asked while settling down next to her. Quickly, he knocked back some of the whiskey and felt it burn going down his throat. "Ah." He let out a breath when he drank it since he really needed it. Leaning back on the sofa, he grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around the both of them. He placed down his glass on the table and wrapped his arms securely around her.

[i am so sorry, i'm awful]

Chris got to the phone booth pretty quickly, slipping inside. He rubbed the back of his neck with one had as he picked up the receiver and dialed '911' with the other. He held the phone up to his ear and waited for a dispatcher to answer with '911, what's your emergency?' before speaking. "Some kids went into the Asylum on Old Turner road. I heard a bunch of screaming, I don't know what happened. Someone should check it out," was all he said before hanging up the phone. He shoved his hands into his pockets before jogging back to his apartment. It didn't take long for him to get inside his apartment. "Why is it so cold in here, holy shit," Chris mumbled, closing the door behind him. His dog came walking up to him, looking scared. "Did you mess up the thermostat, Bud? Is that why you're lookin' guilty?"
"Like crap," Peggy said, taking the glass of water from Emmett and taking a sip. She put it onto the table next to his and leaned into him when he put his arms around her. She didn't know whether or not she wanted to talk about what happened. She half wanted to pretend it never happened, but she half wanted to figure out what actually did happen. "Where did that girl come from?" Peggy asked quietly. "Where did she go?" She didn't expect Emmett to have an answer, she was just wondering out loud. She forced a small laugh, not wanting to seem completely rattled, even though everyone knew she was. "You're lucky you're good looking," she continued, looking up at Emmett with a small smile. "You can get away with bringing me to a place like that without me breaking your nose."

    [No, don't worry about it!]

Making sure that Buddy would be satisfied with the amount of food, she pulled the bag away but felt a pair of eyes on her. When she turned, there was no one there though, not even Bud. Sophia sighed while blaming it on the fatigue and the paranoia of everything today. Standing up, she put the bag of dog food back inside of the cabinet then went to the front door when she heard Chris come back inside. "Chris, I don't think that Buddy's feeling well.. He won't eat or even let me pet him." She pointed out with a small frown, crossing her arms over her chest. The temperature inside of the apartment was starting to drop fast and she could feel it. Sophia shivered while rubbing her arms once more wondering if the thermostat was broken. "It's f-freezing in here. Let me go take a look at the thermometer." Sophia excused herself to go look at it by the kitchen and saw that it was nearing the sixty-five degree mark. "Jesus." She mumbled to herself before reaching out to turn on the heater even though it was the middle of the summer. "Babe, I turned on the heat because it was sixty-five in here!"

    --

"I don't blame you, Peg. That was.. horrifying." Emmett sighed while trailing a hand lightly up and down her arm. Never had he ever imagined that the supernatural existed or that it would ever impact his life. It was only supposed to be a cheap thrill and nothing more. Merely staring at a fixed point in the room, Emmett had no answer for any of her questions. He knew that he would never have the proper response to them either. All he could try to do now was ease her mind from the experience. "Thank god for that, right? I wouldn't want a broken nose." He chuckled a little, trying to make light of the situation as much as possible. Leaning over, he placed a gentle kiss against her cheek. "I am so lucky to have you as my girlfriend. Anyone else would have punched me in the face." Emmett continued on with a small shake of the head.

"What the hell," Chris said, frowning. "I'm going to go grab a sweater while we wait for it to heat up. D'you want one too?" He started to head down the hallway, leaving a guilty looking Buddy in the living room. As Chris walked into the bedroom, he felt a chill go down the his back. He glanced over his shoulder, getting the weird feeling someone was watching him. No one was there, obviously, so he turned back around to grab something a bit warmer to wear.
"I know, I'm just the best," Peggy said with a small smile. She closed her eyes, letting out a small sigh. She really regretted going to that place. She felt like an idiot for agreeing, but she was sure everyone else felt the same. Without warning, she stood up quickly and had to make a dash for the bathroom, where she promptly got sick in the toilet. "Great," she said in a low voice, before being sick again, trying to hold her hair back.
    [sorry!]
