All or Nothing!

Calem stuffed his hands in his pockets as he scanned the areas he passed. Up ahead was the Gym, the Coumarine City Gym, and he was both nervous and excited about battling there. His Pokémon seemed to share in his excitement, which was a usual for them. He couldn't quite blame them, either, since they all seemed to make a pretty good team - something he was thankful for. As he approached the Gym and walked in, there seemed to already be a battle in progress, so he moved to take a seat, his eyes scanning the room for a bit. Part of him wondered how many opponents the gym leader would face that day; it almost made him feel a bit bad that he would be added to that list.

Lily hummed as she pulled off her headphones upon entering the Pokémon Center in Coumarine City. A small smile came to her features as she thanked Nurse Joy and retrieved her Pokémon, having left them there through the night so that they could rest properly. In one arm, she held an egg, weighing it gently and carefully as she put the pokéballs where they belonged, before wrapping both arms around the egg. Considering that the gym in the town focused on grass-type Pokémon, she knew her best bet would probably lie with Houndoom and Crobat, so she was already preparing a proper strategy when she made her way out of the Center and went to the Gym instead.

Hugh sighed as he sat with his legs danging over the side of the docks of Coumarine City while his Panpour swam around in the water before him. "Alright, get your fill of playtime because after this we go challenge the gym and because its a grass type you'll have the most trouble, Panpour." The little blue monkey chattered her delighted response and begging to stay just a little while longer in the water. Hugh laughed but stood and dusted himself off anyway, "Come on, Panpour, we've got to go." With a small smile Hugh returned his pokemon to her pokeball and began his walk to the Coumarine City gym. He was a long way from home, but he was still happy to be there in the Kalos region.

Aubrey sat patiently with her pokeballs containing her loyal and loved pokemon cradled in her bag, waiting for her turn to challenge the gym leader, Ramos. Having lived in Johto region all of her life as a standard Pokemon Trainer, she knew the ins and outs of the usual scene at Pokemon Gyms. However, once Aubrey defeated all of the Gyms in Johto, she gave her try with Pokemon Contests in the Hoenn and Kanto regions. In just a short amount of time, Aubrey had come a long, long way. She'd begun her journey as a determined girl who'd found no greater joy than bonding with her pokemon over defeating Gym Leaders, to a girl who loved and devoted all of her training with her Pokemon to learning the Pokemon Contest world and being a coordinator, and now found herself two years later out on her own adventure in another new land with not only her original five Pokemon, but a newly caught Vivillon she discovered her first day in the Kalos region. Aubrey looked up to heard a pair of footsteps and looked up to find a boy in a red hat. "Hello, are you here to challenge the gym too?"

Calem blinked in pure surprise at hearing the girl talk to him. He smiled politely, though, and nodded in confirmation to her question. "Yeah, I am. I'm assuming you are as well," he said as he stuffed his hands into his pockets. So, he only had to wait behind one person - and whoever was already battling the Gym leader, of course. That gave him enough time to prepare, he figured. "Are you ready to battle him already?" He figured she was, though he couldn't help but wonder what her tactics would be - or what Pokémon she had with her.

Lily hugged the egg close to herself as she approached the gym, stepping back for a moment to stare up at the building for a long moment. It was only ever when she got in front of the gyms that she got nervous and this time was no exception. After taking a deep breath, she made her way into the building, her eyes scanning around. She could see people waiting already, a boy and a girl. Silently, she wondered if she should come back another time, since the gym was clearly busy today - but, if she did that, she might not get another chance to be this close to it.

Hugh strode to the gym with confidence, he knew that after everything he had been through and had to fight for, this challenge was going to be a walk in the park. When he got closer he saw a girl carrying some kind of big ball thing enter the gym's doors before him. With a sigh, he followed her in, to have to wait would be annoying but one person wouldn't be unbearable. The farther inside the gym he got though, the moer apparent that waiting was going to be the death of him, "Aw man!" He groaned once he saw that he had to wait for three other people to go, not to mention the rest time that he was sure the gym leader's pokemon would need. "Well this is no fun..." he sighed as he got within a close enough distance to the two girls and guy.

Aubrey returned the boy's polite smile and attitude before she hummed her response. "Yeah, it's been a busy day here but between each of the challenges the Gym Leader's pokemon are given an hour-long break," she said softly and patted the spot beside her. "You can sit beside me if you're going to wait for when I'm finished." Aubrey gently touched each of the pokeballs in her lap, "I shouldn't be too long for you to wait-" Before Aubrey could even finish her sentence the groans and annoyance of another boy cut her off. Aubrey turned confused, wide eyes to look at the boy and girl who had joined her and the first boy. "Ah, hello?"

Hour long breaks? So, after the match that was going on, there'd be an hour to wait for this girl to go. Then however long it took her to battle and another hour of wait for him. The thought made him sigh, but he put on a grin and nodded. "Well, then, good luck," he told the girl, though, upon taking notice of the other two entering, he glanced over. At least he had gotten here before them, so he wouldn't have to wait as long. "Surprises aside, I'm Calem!"

Lily let her eyes scan over the group that had formed and she chewed on her lip. She wasn't very good with people, preferring to spend her time with pokemon, but she figured she could handle a few hours with these people. Looking towards the door, she wondered how long it would take the others to do their matches and mentally debated on just waiting until the next day.

Hugh sighed but ultimately let a grin shine on his lips, "The name's Hugh. Nice to meet you, though I'm annoyed by the circumstances." He signed and leaned against the wall opposite where Aubrey was sitting, cradling six pokeballs in her lap, and where Calem stood somewhat beside her. Judging by the way the two of them were positioned, Hugh figured the two of them didn't know each other, and since the girl he'd ended up following in hadn't so much as mumbled a word yet, he figured she didn't know anyone either. That was the sad yet cool part of not traveling with anyone except your Pokemon to a new region, you didn't know a whole lot of people.

Aubrey returned the friendly grin and paired it with a light laugh, "It's nice to meet you too, Hugh. I'm Aubrey," she turned her dark eyes to the fourth body waiting in the hall. "And who might you be?" Her eyes scanned the girl lightly, she seemed to have a bit of a nervous energy around her and Aubrey wanted to help the girl out if she could. Since it was obvious that none of them seemed ready to leave, nor did it seem like the match going on was going to end anytime soon, the four of them might as well get to know each other. It wasn't like they had anything better to do.

(No, yours was good! But, yeah, I'm sure we'll get better eventually; we usually do. :) )

Calem was slightly amused with Hugh's admittance to being annoyed. At least he was blunt - something that was a little rare to see, unless it was during an actual battle. And Aubrey seemed nice enough, pleasant to be around, at least. The other girl was clearly nervous, but that was fine, too. If he was going to have to wait a while, at least he was around people who weren't going to go on about how great they were as trainers. Who knew? Maybe the time would fly by if they got involved in a nice enough conversation. "How long have you been waiting, anyways, Aubrey?" he asked with curiosity. It wouldn't surprise him too much if she had been there for a while; it was an often occurrence at Gyms.

Lily blinked several times at realizing that the girl named Aubrey was speaking to her. She shifted slightly again, chewing on her lip. It couldn't hurt to tell them her name, right? They'd probably all go their separate ways after this and forget that they ever met each other, she was sure. So, after a few moments, she decided that she might as well answer. "Ah, my name's Lily," she introduced herself, offering a small, hesitant smile. "It's nice to meet all of you." It wasn't often that she met people who actually seemed to want to talk, after all; most people just wanted to battle and go on with their journeys and she was used to it. This, though, she wasn't used to at all.

Hugh's gaze looked at the girl holding the weird capsule thing with some caution and curiosity before he let the small grin return to his lips at the sound of her finally speaking. "Nice to meet you," he said before Calem spoke up and asked Aubrey how long she had been there. "Yeah, Blondie," Hugh's eyebrows rose at hsi blunt use of what could turn into a horrible nickname if Aubrey didn't respond positively to it. The playful glint that shone in her eyes told him another story though so he kept speaking, "How long do you think we'll all be here?" Hugh tapped his bag and felt the movement of his pokeballs within it, he didn't want to keep them waiting too long. They were all excited to battle the Gym Leader, they knew how important it was to Hugh and he loved to battle with them, so it was a win-win for them already.

Aubrey first smiled at Lily after she finally spoke up, then turned her attention on Calem as he spoke, but then couldn't help but laugh at Hugh's addition to the conversation that seemed to be budding between the four of them. "Well, there was one other before the challenge happening right now, and that was just after breakfast time..." Aubrey looked down at her watch on her wrist and her stomach growled almost on cue. "And now it's lunch time so, you can figure it out from there. The very first match took forever though, and he ultimately lost to the Gym Leader." Aubrey's stomach growled again and she blushed in slight embarrassment, "Sorry. Would you guys mind if I fed my Pokemon... and myself while I'm at it?"

Calem tried not to cringe at the mention of how long the girl had been waiting. Since breakfast? And there had only been two battles in that time? This really could take forever, then. He tried not to think about it, though, and instead nodded slowly. "Go ahead. I think I'll go ahead and do the same," he decided as he rummaged through his bag to find whatever food he could manage to give his Pokémon whilst also drawing out his Pokémon. "This would actually be a good time for us all to get to see each others' Pokémon, too, in case there are any we haven't gotten to see in person." He grinned at that thought, because he loved seeing Pokémon in person. Meeting new Pokémon and making new friends was easily fun and made everything worthwhile.

Lily looked down at the egg in her hands and shifted to sit down whilst leaning against the wall, placing the egg at her side so that she could pull out her pokéballs. "I didn't even notice the time," she murmured honestly, though it was mostly to herself. She felt a little guilty for having forgotten all about lunch, though it wasn't exactly anything new. She sometimes spaced if she didn't pay attention to the time, but her Pokémon never got upset with her about it - which she was rather grateful for.

Hugh smiled as he watched the others pull out there Pokeballs, he had already fed his team so he instead took out his Pokedex and got ready to update any Pokemon slots if a new Pokemon came from one of the others. "Yeah, it's always cool to meet new types of Pokemon. I'm originally from Unova so I'm still discovering the many different types of Pokemon Kalos has to offer." Just as he slid down from his leaning position on the wall to rest comfortably a sad trainer came from where the challenges were held.

"One hour, then it's your turn Aubrey," said the clearly defeated challenger before he made his way out and most likely to the Pokemon Center.

"Yeesh, that's rough," said Hugh when the trainer was finally out of earshot.

Aubrey felt her senses kick into a high gear as she watched the trainer that had gone before her walk out in defeat. "That's two for two losses today. I'll be the first to win," she spoke with courage and determination. "Me, with the help of my pokemon, we'll take the first badge of the day. Come on out Vulpix and eat your lunch," she popped open a pokeball to find her lovely little red Vulpix chattering sweetly at her. She extended a Pecha berry to her Vulpix but before the cute little thing began to eat it Aubrey introduced the little fox to everyone. "Vulpix meet Hugh, Calem and Lilly; everyone, this is Vulpix."

Calem watched the defeated trainer wander off and he turned his attention to Aubrey upon hearing her words. "Somebody's determined," he mused, though it was nice to see. If somebody didn't believe in themselves, then it would be next to impossible for them to actually win, unless it was by luck. That was what most people believed, anyways, and he supposed he was in that group. Smiling, he knelt down to get a better look at Vulpix. "It's nice to meet you, Vulpix," he decided with a nod before he went ahead to open a pokéball, Quilladin appearing in front of them. "This is Quilladin, everybody - including you, Vulpix." He grinned before gesturing to each of the others and introducing them to Quilladin, who seemed pretty eager to meet them all.

Lily blinked several times and she rummaged through her bag. She figured she could spend a while with Phanpy first, since she didn't plan to use her in the battle and she didn't want the little Pokémon to feel neglected. Letting the Pokémon out of the pokéball, she smiled at the sight of her and patted her head. "This is Phanpy. I don't plan on battling with her today, but she'll get upset if I don't give her attention ahead of time; she loves attention, but she'll act shy," she murmured, realizing it was probably the most she had said the entire time. She couldn't help it, though; when it came to her Pokémon, she could talk about them for hours.

Hugh smiled brightly when he noticed how much Lily came to life when she talked about her Pokemon, Phanpy. He didn't know if it was because of the specific pokemon or if it was because Pokemon brought out the happy, outgoing side of her but he realized how cool it made her. "I've never seen a Phanpy before," he gently put forward his Pokedex and let it do it's thing. "Where'd you catch one?"

Aubrey smiled and laughed a little at Calem's comment, her Vulpix sniffed curiously at his Quilladin and it made her happy inside. It was always nice when her team got to be around other pokemon, they needed a variety social interaction just like trainers did. "I've seen many trainers that have evolutions of Chespin, but I've never seen one in the wild. Are they a starter pokemon of Kalos?"

(Oh, no worries! I'm watching Grease now, so it's all good. xD)

Calem nodded in response, offering a slight grin. "Yeah, generally," he admitted as he turned his attention to Quilladin, watching as the Pokémon tilted his head to watch Vulpix with interest. "They're really great Pokémon - as are all the others, but I don't think he's met a single person that he didn't like." Well, unless that person was cruel, but he felt no need to say that, since he was certain most Pokémon were like that.

Lily blinked as she watched him before she offered a slight smile and shrugged in response. "I'm originally from Johto," she explained idly as she watched Phanpy stare up at Hugh with curiosity. "I didn't catch Phanpy, though. She was my first Pokémon and my brother gave her to me." She wondered if it was odd that she hadn't let Phanpy evolve. In honesty, the girl just couldn't bear the thought of it, since it had been her brother's Pokémon in the first place.

Hugh raised his brows in wonder and in admiration, "I'm from Unova, I can understand what it's like to have a bond with a Pokemon given by another family member." The memories of his sister, grandfather and the Purrloin--now Liepard, and everything that had stemmed from that. His eyes turned serious as he gently outstretched his hand for Phanpy to sniff him, "It's something that shouldn't ever be tampered with, its special."

Aubrey watch in a silent joy as Vulpix and Quilladin got along and sat beside each other as they ate their lunches. "That's a wonderful thing, would you like to meet my starter pokemon? She's quite the kind, mothering type," the thought of Aubrey's Meganium made a small smile and a wistful laugh danced from her pink lips. "I'm from Johto originally, but I've been everywhere except Unova now."

Calem nodded eagerly, unable to help it. Like most other trainers, he loved meeting new Pokémon - even if they were the same types that he had already seen. Each Pokémon had its own personality, after all, just like each trainer did. "Sure, I'd love to see your starter," he decided with a grin, though he blinked to her words and smiled. "Well, I'm sure you'll get to visit Unova some day!"

Lily smiled slightly and nodded to his words, glad that he didn't think it as odd. She watched as Phanpy's little trunk ran over Hugh's hand and she blinked, getting an idea. Quickly rummaging through her bag, she pulled out a berry for Phanpy and placed it in Hugh's hand. "She'll like you more if you feed her," she told him with a grin.

Hugh looked at Lily in happy surprise when she gently placed the berry in his hand, "Here you go, Phanpy, it's alright." He waited patiently, eagerly for the little blue elephant to accept or deny him. He found it very sweet of Lily to give him the berry to then give to Phanpy, if she accepted it.

Aubrey nodded and spoke to her Pokemon before she returned it to the pokeball after she was done eating the Pecha berry, "Okay, say goodbye to everyone, Vulpix." When Vulpix was safely returned inside of her pokeball, Aubrey took out another one and with a joyous, almost nostalgic smile she spoke, "Come join the party, Meganium!" The cheerful and protective grass-type pokemon soon stood before the group, chattering little bits of happy confusion as to what was going on. "Meganium, this is Quilladin, Calem, Phanpy, Lilly, and Hugh. Everyone, this is Megnium, my first pokemon partner."

Calem grinned at the sight of Meganium and offered a kind wave. "It's nice to meet you, Meganium," he greeted, watching as his Quilladin quickly investigated the new Pokémon. Neither he nor Quilladin had seen a Meganium yet, so he wasn't too surprised with his own Pokémon being so curious.

Lily blinked at the new Pokémon and offered a smile. "Hello, Meganium," she greeted, though she was surprised to see a Pokémon from her own home region. Considering that Aubrey had mentioned being from Johto, too, she supposed she shouldn't have been surprised. Returning her attention to Phanpy and Hugh, she smiled slightly as she watched Phanpy almost bounce eagerly at the sight of the berry, the Pokémon wasting no time in taking it from Hugh with her trunk.
