It was my heart, it was my life, it was my start, it was your knife.
This strife – it dies. This life and these lies.
These lungs have sung this song for too long, and it's true I hurt too, remember I loved you.

    I love you.

Donovan could accept that answer. He hadn't expected for Evan to tell him the very black and number he lived at, he more so just wanted to know that the other lived in the city because if he did then maybe they could see each other again, unplanned or planned, that didn't matter as long as he saw him and his cute little nose. He didn't find it weird how he was so taken by the other, Donovan went by easily, enamored by many things, especially peoples physically appearance, more so the vast that was so vastly different from one to another. Donovan was half in love with every pretty face every single day, and maybe it would pass with Evan, maybe tomorrow while getting the male a beautiful young man with light hair would pass by him and Donovan would fan himself with his bills and wonder how in the world was he so lucky to live in NYC. Or, perhaps, he won't, perhaps he'd get stuck on Evan because not only were his lips the perfect little shape with the sweetest cupid bow but his hands were capable of amazing things. Donovan chuckled at the 'big penthouse' Evan was speaking about, clasping his hand over the others shoulder and giving him a squeeze that was so solid. "Same here man, gonna have a sweet balcony over looking SoHo and everything" he says with a warmth in his voice that wasn't there before because yeah, he understood the other.
Morgan wasn't thick, he knew there was much more to the tattoos than Jamie let on. He knew people got them for a reason, some plain and simple others much deeper and by the way the other tried to brush it off so vaguely gave him a sense that it was much more personal and so Morgan let it go. He let it go because he knew, per say didn't understand since he was just seventeen and hadn't gone through much in his life or so he feels like his problems are, would be much smaller than others. Under the table he gently nudged his foot against Jamie's, looking up to meet the others eyes and eat a strawberry, not smiling because it felt unnecessary, felt like it would be a little too intimate to be looking at the other so intently that it felt like maybe he would combust for three different, separate reasons. Although when he looked back down to the plastic container filled with fruits he smiled, a quirk of his pink lips as he moved a few slices of bananas around and kept his foot leaning against the others. "I'm not anybody, I'm Morgan, and I know you like me" he teases with a glint in his eyes as he slowly sucks on a slice of pineapple. Jamie had to like him, at least enough to not kick him out belittle him.

Evan grinned over at Donovan at the mention of his similar goal. Of course, many people wanted to be rich. Without question. Evan's motive was mostly wanting to be able to provide for Maddy as good as possible. Having some time and room for luxury for himself was also preferable. He worked so much he these days that he couldn't wait for easier times and if he got rich off his own hard work, that was a feat to be proud of, especially considering he started as a single teen father who was cut off by his parents. He was going to have to have to give his best friend, Ashley, back seeing as she had took them in without question even when he couldn't pay rent yet and also helped with taking care of Maddy. Donovan's grip was what kept him grounded in the current situation instead of drifting off into wishful day dreams. It was nice and firm, comforting and safe in a way. "Save an apartment in your building for a mate, will you?" He asked, swaying toward the other male, encouraging the touch. Maybe he shouldn't have said that, shouldn't have implied that they would be seeing each other in the future. Not when he knew his situation would get in the way. But he couldn't help it, couldn't help enjoying Donovan's presence and wanting to relax and be around this guy.
Jamie knew he'd obviously tried too hard to make it sound like nothing. He was just hoping Morgan didn't notice or didn't really care, light tension in his shoulders. Some of the things he went through weren't something everyone would understand and he didn't show or mention it because he was a pretty private person. And frankly, he was afraid of the judgement he would probably get. The corners of his lips quirked upward at the nudge he felt against his foot under the table. He took it as a form of comfort and leaned his leg into the contact lightly. Jamie let out a light chuckle at the assumption and couldn't help admiring the boy's confidence, something he never had and had learned to fake when he started working. Self confidence was needed for people to take you seriously and one of the ingredients of success. "Well, obviously. I wouldn't just let anyone inside the building and let them draw on the walls," he agreed. "Wouldn't just randomly get lunch with anybody. You're a lucky boy, Morgan," he added with a teasing edge. "But watch out. I might ask for a favor in return one day. I am risking a fall out with the boss for this after all." He was high up in the hierarchy though, coming close to the very top. It was just his preferance not to get mixed up in the management part of the company so he kept himself out of that but the boss let him choose his projects and work times, often even asked him for his opinion and sometimes, though rarely for Jamie's sake, he gave him full reign of a project to split up amongst the team.

Donovan knew he had crinkles by his eyes from the force of his smile. This was what he craved so desperately no matter how pathetic he may sound or seem, this closeness and comfort with someone. Sure he had friends but in a city like this it was hard to keep any of them. Money, fame, school, there was so many reasons why people would be here one day and then not the next. Donovan was the type to stay though, and he cherished the moments he did have. Donovan was needy and so, so clingy, for a grown man he needed to be assured he has someone, anyone, never had to be in a romantic way. This was where Evan was so unlucky mixed in, he gave Donovan that hope. And the man would regret it soon enough because Donovan didn't give up on people, he didn't let relationships go so easily because he was so determined and sometimes people just needed to be fought for. Moving his hand from Evans shoulder he wrapped his entire arm around the others neck and pulled him in, "Sure thing, if anything I'd take you right in" Donovan pressed his fingers into Evans shoulder with his words,"How far is this work of yours? "he asked to change the topic as he felt like he was getting too friendly with Evan. Didn't want to scare him away you soon after all.

Confidence is key, fake it till you make it, that's what his father always told him when he was little and Morgan always stuck by what his father says, right till the man died which had devastated Morgan but not his mother. Morgan had always been like his dad, head strong and blunt, he learned that you should never take shit from anyone - not even your family and that only lie when you need to protect yourself and not others. Feeling Jamie's foot rest against his Morgan felt a warmth blossom in his stomach knowing that the other actually understood him because Morgan was shit with actual words but the best with action, little actions that typically went unnoticed."I feel lucky" Morgan states as he licks his lips, red from the constant biting and the acidity of the pineapples. He honestly did, it wasn't like he always got the chance to draw without having the threat of doing something illegal. Honestly Jamie was saving Morgan from a world of trouble. Morgan couldn't shut his mouth even if he wanted to, when he gets caught trespassing or vandalizing he would never stop barking and defending himself and art, when he goes to school and some bigger guy shoves past him his mouth is the first thing open. Morgan got himself in trouble more than he'd like to admit and Jamie was giving him a place he could do something he loves in an environment that most likely wont pester him. "You ever thought of growing facial hair?" he asked randomly.

A stab of warmth went straight through Evan's chest at the remark from Donovan. If he were a bit less steel-hearted about who he could trust, he would've immediately taken him up on the offer. Not to mention that Donovan had a much bigger chance of getting rich than Evan would ever have. For just a moment he gazed at the male with an ever so soft look. It was crazy how right he felt right now in this moment, with an almost stranger up against his side. Donovan was, as far as he could tell, as good as a friend could get. He was someone you should keep close and Evan really wanted to, wanted to grab on with both hands and never let go, let him support him in all the ways he needed. But then there was the sensible, the sceptical part of him that wondered how genuine Donovan was being. He wanted to believe that this was just the way he was but all experience told him that people were never this nice, could never be fully trusted. And he hid away the needy, desperate part of himself, glad for the change of topic that Donovan initiated. It was easier to force himself to distance himself mentally while he couldn't bring himself to pull away from the embrace because he didn't ever get held like that, the only hugs he got were from Maddy and his friend Ashley and those, although full of love and enjoyable, just were not to be compared. "You said you had all night. I took that as a commitment," he joked. "But don't worry. It's just another 3 minutes," he added and lead him on to a smaller street where the Iimage of a giant unicorn covered the wall. "This one was for my sister," he explained as he gazed up, eyes following the familiar lines of spray paint. It was mostly white but with faded shades of different colors adding depth to the majestic creature, which appeared to be in full gallop. There was a rough edge to it, while the colorfulness added a more cheerful, optimistic tone to the image and it was exactly what Evan saw in Maddy. She was struggling growing up with just him when every good night or happy story always entailed two parents. And she ddidn't get as much time with her father either, seeing as he had to work a lot to be able to support them but she was a fighter like every child was, but he was so very proud of that, how she managed to dream big and have fun either way. This artwork wasn't one he would've ever thought as being something to show off to others but for some reason he was sure that Donovan would understand. Later on he might realize it might've not been a good idea because if the other man came along here again, he might stumble across Evan and Maddy. The street art had been sprayed here because Evan passed through here with the girl and had made it for his daughter's pleasure.
Jamie smiled at Morgan as he heard that the boy appreciated this opportunity and saw that he wasn't all harsh words and light arrogance. He wasn't as surprised by it as he was glad to be able to get that confession. He knew everyone had a gentle side, some hid it more behind a tougher mask and some less and as someone who had perfected his own mask, it was nice to see behind someone else's. There was this closeness Jamie felt toward the younger male that he couldn't explain to even himself. All he knew was that he wanted to see him live happily and go somewhere big. The way the flick of Morgan's tongue caught his attention while their legs rested agaonst each other, hinted that this could be something more than just friendship for him, even though he knew - and had to keep reminding himself with vengeance - that it wasn't right and was not allowed to happen. He couldn't let himself fall into a trap like this. There so many risks and really, it could only go wrong. No good were to come from it. Jamie's face scrunched up lightly in confusion at the sudden jump of topic, bringing up such a random subject out of nowhere before he laughed lightly in amusement. It was refreshing and he didn't even mind as he felt his fondness for Morgan growing as he grinned at him. "Is that a serious question or were you just looking for something - anything - to say?" He asked witha hum. He wasn't sure why the younger male would want to know such a thing or would even be thinking about that. It would mean he was paying attention to Jamie's face and that thought sparked more hope that shouldn't even be there at all and it would be better if Morgan just laughed it off and brought up something else. At the same time he wanted to hear him say that that was something worth talking about between the two of them.

"I do have all night," Donovan said back with a grin, he had all night and day, then the next night and day, the next week, month, year. Donovan was living his life slow and easy, he was nearly his late twenties and all he was aiming for was to be happy with himself more than anything. He knew people who wanted to have kids and be married, have an important job, adopt a dog(he might just do this one), travel the world and go back to school. Donovan didn't really want any of that extra stuff, he was happy where he was in the city he lived in and he was going to try and keep his life the same as it was the last six years he's lived on his own. Though the addition of a boyfriend wouldn't be too bad or unwanted. The point was Donovan had all fucking night and then some if Evan wanted. Stepping by Evan Donovan hadn't been expecting to see something so, so child like. It was sweet and beautiful and large, it was like Pegasus from Sailor Moon because Donovan was a bloody dork and loved watching the anime as a child(and as an adult), it was the building blocks of when he was little and life was a simpler time and he could see and detailed it was, how Evan must have put so much time and thought into it for his little sister. Evan had definitely made a mistake bringing Donovan here, the man would make it his mission to take this way to Mrs.Greens Natural Market from now on just to take a good look at the street art and smile because it was nothing he would have imagined, and everything he wished he had. Wetting his lips Donovan turned to look at Evan and shook his head, keeping his arm loose around the mans shoulder,"This is amazing, your little sister is lucky to have such a talented guy like you" he says honestly, always admiring artist for what they really were. He couldn't even fathom how Evan must have felt after completing the piece.
Morgan's eyes narrowed, just little specks of green and gold visible,"Of course that's a serious question" he says matter of factually because it just was. Though he wanted to know more for his own personal benefit than anything else, something about a man who could grow facial hair, have the stubble harsh and thick on their faces was so attractive to Morgan. He could use the mental image of Jamie with some scruff over is jaw as some company for 'lonely nights', or mornings. Although seeing Jamie like so would be so much better, Morgan would get a clearer picture for when his hand was wrapped around himself - can't blame him, he's a teenager with too many hormones. "If I was looking for anything to say I would have asked something inappropriate like your bank account numbers" he says with a soft roll of his eyes. He didn't actually care about money, he had far too much himself from his family's company but he sure as heck didn't look like a prime and proper rich kid with his hair gelled back and slacks so it was easier to just be the troubled city kid. "Now answer me, come on, unless you're embarrassed that a grown man like you can't grow any facial hair" he teases with a smirk though he wouldn't really poke fun at Jamie, he knew not everyone could grow it, Morgan couldn't even grow much hair on his legs just infrequent blonde hairs. He once punched a guy in the locker room before gym for asking where all his testosterone went.

Evan would be lying if he said Donovan didn't make him feel special because that's exactly how he felt. Appreciated and just special. Here was this technically still stranger who felt like a great old friend and who wouldn't mind spending all night with him and that not in metaphorical sense but just hanging out and talking most of the time. And then the man was calling him talented and he could just feel the blush creeping up to his cheeks and he wasn't capable of stopping it. All he could do was hope that the lighting was dim enough to hide it, or at least most of it, as he turned his head away lightly, flustered. He wasn't quite used to receiving compliments and didn't know where to look. Usually, in his life, he had to keep proving himself and was only admired by his 6 year old daughter, who ddidn't have anyone else to look up to. He didn't know what to say in reply because what was on the tip of his tongue, like the fact that Maddy really wasn't that lucky and really anything else about Maddy or himself, was a topic he was smart enough to avoid so that Donovan wouldn't find figure his secret out. He struggled a for a moment, silently. "You're going to spoil me with all the nice things you say," he then mentioned with a shake of his head. "Have you ever even once said anything bad about something?" He teased. Everyone had something they didn't like and could probably talk bad about it for hours on end - Evan surely did - but who knew. Maybe Donovan was really such a sweet and sensible guy that he just let things be even if he didn't like them. It was hard to imagine someone being that good though, only angels were that way but it was really not that hard to convince himself that Donovan was an angel and maybe he was just dreaming or hallucinting - maybe he'd breathed in too many spray paint fumes.
"Alright, jeez, I didn't know you were that into beards," Jamie chuckled in fond amusement. He nodded shortly then as he replied, fingers tapping lightly against the table in loss of anything else to do. "I may have thought about growing a beard the one or other time," he told Morgan as he gazed at him, admiring all of his features, like his soft, friendly face with the currently greatly contradting red lips, but mostly the sharp eyes that somehow managed to contain the boy's wide and wild personality, even seeming to deepen it. Jamie could probably stare into those eyes forever if only that weren't such an overly cheesy and embarrassing thing to do. And kind of impossible but that wasn't the point. "Mostly when I would get sick of shaving and was lazy for a couple days," he explained with a quirk of his lips and a one-sided shrug. "But I've never tried," he added, "Most I've ever had is stubble. Beards take up some time and care too, though." He crossed his arms. "I'm not sure if I'd have the patience for that," he admitted, but was now definitely tempted to try it out. There was really no reason not to and he'd quickly be convinced by anything Morgan said, as foolish as that would make him be. Maybe it would even look goos on him. Maybe it would attract a partner and as little as Jamie was interested in that thought at the moment, it would be a good alternative to his starting crush on a teen, which he should be fighting tooth and nail to not let it develope. It was already quite late for that though. He should've just given the boy a warning and sent him off, shouldn't have kept the boy in his office any longer than 4 minutes.

"I guess I might be" Donovan says with a shrug. It was much easier to say kind things rather than to put someone down, it settle on his skin like warmth on a sunny day. Donovan wasn't an asshole anyways. Watching the other man carefully Donovan kept his mouth curled into a smile, maybe his eyes were deceiving him, or maybe he was focusing too hard on Evan's face but he was certain he saw the others cheeks flare in the most alluring shade of pink. He hadn't seen a man blush before, girls all the time though since they found him so charming, but guys? Not really, it was a nice change of pace though. Evan had the prettiest lashes that cast shadows over the blush. Pulling his arm back from Evan's shoulders Donovan crossed them over his chest and shrugged his broad shoulders,"McDonald's has some really shitty coffee and ice coffee's," he supplies. He could be a food critic maybe, growing up Donovan really loved cooking with his mother and had learned so much from her, he had at one long point in his teenage years wanted to be a chef but that died when he went searching for tuition and financial aid he couldn't qualify for. "Don't let me get started on Starbucks, insanely expensive and lacking in good quality taste and workman ship" He could talk days and days on food and art, food was more surprising though since Donovan's daily meals consisted on ramen noodles, chips, and caramel custured flan if he felt fancy enough. He was a mind and body of contradictions to be honest. "I could be mean, but that takes the energy out of me mate,"
Jamie didn't even know the half of it with Morgan and facial hair. Maybe he was a little bit strange but he loved it, was into facial hair and burly arms and a patch on a mans chest and the trail that so tempting lead down beneath the hem of a mans pants. Surely Jamie a guy didn't need all or any of that for Morgan to like them but it was just nice little perks, especially the happy trail. "You've got no idea buddy" he murmured lightly, more to himself than Jamie. Morgan closed the lid over the fruit bowl and pushed it to the side as he crossed his arms over the table and leaned forward, taking complete interest in what Jamie was saying because it was s so very important. He felt like he could combust, there was hope hope that maybe Morgan would walk in here during a cold winter to see Jamie sneezing with some scruff littering his amazing jaw and cheeks, harsh scruff that would give his skin rug burn when kissed or gentle and soft that would tickle. These were all important things Morgan will be thinking about tonight and perhaps many more nights afterwards. "Bet you look good with stubble" Morgan states, his eyes wide and intent, all round and a faded green, like someones favorite sweater washed far too many times, worn warm and lovingly. "Though you look good already" Morgan whispers lowly just between them with a smirk, an air of confidence to say such a thing to another guy.

Evan smiled at how Donovan chose McDonald's to criticize as an example of being mean. The man was too sweet to be true. God knew the world needed more people like this. Despite his better judgement, which always told him to not trust anyone, especially anyone being nice - they were usually the ones to stab you right in the back -, he really wanted to believe that this was the real Donovan. He was allowed to lower his guard just a little bit for this one evening, right. "Oh, don't get me wrong," Evan shook his head, looking up at the other male now that his face felt less like it was on fire. "It's really refreshing to meet someone who's not set out on hating the world," he said with a smile, laying a hand on Donovan's back lightly. "Just another thing people could learn from you," he added and soon pulled his hand away again, not one to initiate in physical contact that often or for long, at least not lately because he usually didn't have whom to be close to. Maddy was different but she was family. He missed having close friends and especially having time for them but at the moment he just didn't. This was the most he coul get. Tucking his hands into his pockets, he shifted on his feet and in the moment of silence felt a light tugging in his stomach, starting to get hungry. "Talking about McDonald's, I could use some food," he admitted. "Do you want to join me for a midnight snack?" He offered with a small smile.
Morgan's eyes definitely held first place for Jamie's favorite thing about the boy, at least for now, even though they way he moved so boldly came in a close second. He chuckled at him with a shake of his head, flattered but nonetheless cautious, trying not to let it get to him. "You know, you don't have to keep sucking up to me. You have that wall to draw on secured for yourself. No one is going to take it away from you," he mused. "You should be out flirting with someone your own age," he added with a small, crooked smile. It was lucky they were in the cafeteria if he was honest because if they weren't and with Morgan's eyes on him like this and his leg against his, he would probably join in on the fun and flirt back, leading the boy on even though it wasn't allowed to happen. Jamie wasn't always good with self control, he didn't always know how to hold back when he had to. He could name a couple examples for that. Usually it was the self destructive stuff that were hardest for him. It the thrill of the jump and the fall but then there the consequences of a heavy landing and he could already feel some ffalling on his part.

Donovan shrugged, feeling useless for words and actions. He was far to laid back and neutral, he didn't hate things or people, found that to be a waste since life was too short for anyone to be angry and shaking their fist out in the air, cursing the ground beneath their feet. He wished more people were like himself as well, everything was a little easier when you just let things go, draw out your frustrations or knit, whatever fits your fancy. Evan's hand left a warm spot on his back and Donovan couldn't help but want the others hands on him, trailing up his arm or flat on his broad chest, he was a weak man."It's more of a two a.m snack though I couldn't say no to you" and maybe his words could out a little endearing, like he was speaking to someone close to him who he could essentially never say no to, and if it did then that wasn't his problem as long as Evan didn't poke fun at him or notice it."I mean, as long as it isn't McDonalds, then you have me at your side - and don't get sly and try and say Burger King because that isn't any better, fast food is just disgusting" Donovan held back that he was a vegetarian, he didn't want Evan to have to change his mind and adapt to a different place to eat - or not eat what he had in mind just because Donovan didn't eat it. Donovan never cared for what other ate in front of him, what they did was what they did he didn't control people not did he want to.
Morgan rose a brow at Jamie before laughing, light and gleeful,"I know no ones going to take that wall awake from me" he says with a smirk, confidence just radiating off of him that people passing by could just snatch some for themselves. Morgan lived in the now, he lived with the only goal of being happy and he was happy, being confident made him happy, flirting with a attractive older man made him very, very happy. His smirk faltered though, subsiding into something a lot smaller and a bit tight. He easily interpreted Jamie's words as a sly rejection, making it light and easy without flat out saying 'Stop flirting with me, I'm not interested', and Morgan did not fucking appreciate it at all even though most would prefer a light and airy rejection. Gliding the tip of his tongue across his upper lip Morgan shrugged, moving his feet back to his own little space,"Maybe I don't like people my own age" he tells the other just as he checks his phone, ignoring his text messages and checking the time, just around when school would be out for him. He didn't feel like sticking around here and yeah he was childish and bitter and it had to do with Jamie's comment but who cares? Morgan was just a kid after all. "I'm gonna go, is there any time range you want me to come in for the wall?" he asked slipping the fruit bowl into his bag.

Evan shrugged. "It's still in the middle of the night so it's still a midnight snack to me, really," he mentioned when actually the part of the reply that he was mainly focuising on was the personal part. I couldn't say no to you. His walls were crumbling and amazingly weak to Donovan's charm. If the man continued like this, Evan might not be able to hold back and could end up just jumping into his arms and demanding a night of enjoyment and comfort because fuck it, he should be allowed to give in to his urges once in a few years. He was still sticking it out but his defenses weren't as strong anymore - not this late at night when everything seemed so far away and all that mattered were just the two of them, not when Donovan was being sweeter than possibly anyone in his life before, not when he was so exhausted of fighting and could just so easily give in to whatever this was. It felt like it would be easy. Easy sounded just about perfect right now. "I'm your man," he declared. "I refuse to even pass right by a McDonald's. I'd cross the streets first. Haven't been inside for 6 years now," he explained with a smile. It was all because of Maddy that he started paying attention to what was healthy and what not and McDonald's was far from the standards that he'd set for his daughter. She'd never been in one in her life and he intended to keep it that way, while he was still the one to decide that anyway. He understood that at some point she would most probably want to check the fast food chain out. It was inevitable with how popular it is. "There's a nice diner just down the street that we could go to though," he suggested.
Jamie immediately regretted what he said when Morgan pulled back and shut down a bit. He could go back and forth in a conversation with the boy all day and he wouldn't get bored, that he was sure of. It was for the best though, he knew that as well. As the adult he had to the responsible one here despite of how it left a bitter taste in his mouth. He couldn't straight out tell Morgan that he wasn't interested because that would be a total lie. It was obvious he had struck a sore spot either way and he wanted to apologize, it was on the tip of his tongue, it burned his mouth. But it was for the best. For Morgan's best, he told himself. As if that was any consolation for the dimmed look in the teen's eyes - it wasn't. It wasn't at all. That's why he was glad for the next question. A bit of distance would do them good. Maybe he'd have a hold of himself later on - or whenever he saw him again. "Well, um," he thought for a moment. "I'll be out of here in about an hour but I'll be back in office at like 6ish tonight but you can come in whenever you like. I'll talk to the boss before I leave so that you don't encounter any problems," he explained, wishing that Morgan was going to come back over while he was here. He didn't know if the boy was a cat lover but Jamie was definitely planning on bringing little Calcifer in for the evening becaue the it was going to be empty here for the most part, no one would know.

I'm your man. Evan had no idea how Donovan would have liked that, just the sound of it was quite charming. Donovan was going to keep those words imprinted into his mind for any further days they would hang out, perhaps use it to gain an edge in their conversations. "That's a really long time, you've got me beat" Donovan laughs, deep and heavy with his his large shoulders shaking slightly."I haven't been there in about four, it's a shame they're such a shit food chain, there's one literally everywhere" His lips curl up into a smile, resisting the urge of slinging his arm across Evan's back and wrapping it around him was the hardest as Donovan was a very touchy guy, he greeted his friends with a hug no matter their gender(he didn't believe in that fist bump bro shit), he gave kisses and held hands, he was basically a four year old in a twenty five year old body. "Lead the way then Evan" he gestures, there were plenty of diners around this area, most of them Donovan has never been in considering he tended to buy his food online and get it delivered or he went straight to the health goods store. Personally Donovan thought he was doing really well here, went from a small greeting in an alley to going for some drinks, then two art sights, and now a 24 hour dinner, he was going to wrap this up in his mind as a date, fuck what Evan or anyone else though, it was his mind and it made him feel a little better for pinning over someone who was practically a stranger.
Morgan clicked his tongue in what could have been either annoyance and him agreeing and taking in the others words though it was most likely both. With his bag slung over his shoulder Morgan barely sends a wave Jamie's way before leaving.

    -

Morgan hadn't been planning on combing back that very day, he was still upset and bitter, childish and perhaps a little huffy with literally everyone but once he got home and settle into his room, his entire day went down hill and he couldn't stand being home, couldn't stand being on the streets with people giving him looks because, maybe, Morgan didn't change when he stormed out of the two story home and got onto the train wearing just some captain america pajama pants and a dark blue pullover that was loose around his torso and could be argued that was bought in the female based store. He had first thought of heading down to the pier and drawing on the boardwalk but it was late afternoon and it would be so crowded. Then he thought of going to SoHo and visiting a friend and tagging some walls but the idea didn't sit right with him. That's how he found himself entering the same building he had been in just a handful of hours prior, ignoring the strange look he got from the lady at the front who didn't question him. With slouched shoulders and a not very interested gaze Morgan knocked on Jamie's door repeatedly.

Evan grimaced, nodding in agreement. "It's no wonder that half the population is overweight and the other sick," he mentioned, sighing. "People don't know what's good for them. You're doing great though, keep it up. Don't let amyone or thing waiting on street corners lure you in. Those can never be good," he told him with a chuckle, giving Donovan a glance. He lead the man down the street and around a corner into a seeminly deserted little side street. There were a couple of small shops dotting the side - a second hand shop, where Evan actually worked a shift or two when he needed the extra money, which was of course closed for the night - as well as a seemingly hidden diner on the right hand side. There was no big bright sign or anything wild to attract new costumers but there was no need for anything more than the grey, inconspicuous lettering over the door because there were many regulars, enough to keep the place going. "This is it," Evan declared as he stopped in front and reached for the door. "It's nothing big, nothing classy but the food is leagues above McDonald's," he explained with a smile and a one sided shrug as he pulled at the door and held it open for the other male. He hoped that Donovan wasn'tput off by the simplicity of it but it was also comparably cheap, which lay in his best interest. Some fancy restaurant was not something he could afford. At least not more than once or twice a year. This wasn't some kind of date either, he didn't have to impress Donovan -that's what he kept reminding himself but still, he wanted the male to like him, wanted to look good in his eyes and be remembered. He knew he would remember Donovan - and not only because of his art that he saw every now and then. However hard Evan was going to try to completely block this wonderful man out of his mind, he already had an uneasy feeling in his stomach that it would not be easy at all. He was having a great time right, not having felt so relaxed for a whole while. The smile on his face could not be stopped as he followed the man in to a booth at the window.
Jamie had watched Morgan leave before getting up to go back to his office. He finished up the paper that he'd left off to the side when he had been interrupted, having to talk himself into it instead of just ignoring it till later. Checking his mails, reading them but not replying to any yet, he then grabbed his jacket and left the building, locking his office behind him. It took him less than 20 minutes to arrive in his middle sized apartment - too big for a single person, really, it was spacious and felt a bit empty even - using public transport instead of his car. With the traffic here in New York and all the morons that ran around, it was not the best idea to drive around foe daily tasks with a semi expensive car. It would just take triple the time and he might get his car damaged. One of the greatest things about having a pet was really the way they would rush to the door to welcome you. A full fledge grin took over Jamie's face when he opened his apartment door and Calcifer came bounding over, slamming into his leg and meowing loudly. He abandoned his bag beside the door to take the little monster into his arms and hug him to his chest. The purring was strong enough for him to feel the vibrations.

There was no leaving the kitten anymore today. Jamie had Calcifer perched on his arm when he walked back into his office, placing the mini animal onto his sweatpants-clad lap - sweatpants and a simple band shirt with a black hoodie because it was after work hours and no one was here anyway - as he sat down. It wasn't long before the beast clambered onto the table and he didn't mind as long as the kitten didn't make a mess of the papers. He really wasn't getting any work done and found himself watching the curious kitten and smiling goofily once again when the knock sounded on the door. It took a second but Jamie's excitement spiked and he was on the edge of his seat. It could only be one person. "Come in," he called out, setting everything down.

Evan looked so damn fucking good in Donovan's eyes, there was no need for the other to try at all since it had come so effortlessly with just being himself, being a talented and gorgeous guy, best of both worlds for Donovan. It didn't harm anyone either that Evan didn't had an ass like no other, Donovan could definitely put his hands down for that, could feel them clam up whenever he took too long of a look at the nicely curved rump as he feared being caught because he would not be able to play it off! Point was Evan was already in Donovan's good book, and as far as he was concerned he would stay there till he did something disgusting and unforgivable like step onto a McDonald's, or well, attempt to kick a bed, that would never fly by Donovan. Following Evan inside Donovan was a little taken back by the simplicity of the diner, nothing he would have had imagined to be taken place in NYC, let alone in this neighborhood where lights were bright and large and the electricity bill of these people could out college kids under a bus. It wasn't a bad thing though, refreshing even as they sat down at a booth that was so unfamiliar but very comforting and comfortable. The diner held a warm feeling, spacious and clean with soft music coming from a radio that Donovan couldn't pick up on. Turning back to look at Evan Donovan couldn't help but smile along with the other, finding the soft curves of Evans lips so infectious and beautiful. It wasn't long before a waiter came by and passed them both a menu laminated in clear plastic. "Hm, got any recommendations Evan? " he asked, looking through the menu with an open eye but not finding anything suitable for his 'diet' and personal taste which was usually sickeningly sweet.
    -
Pushing the door open Morgan walked inside and felt a sudden wave of anger hit him, a wave of unrequited desire that burned up in the pit of his stomach because fuck Jamie. Fuck him and his pretty and large hands, fuck his tattoos and soft to the touch looking him, fuck the way he sat at his desk looking like the most comfortable and laid back guy in the world, something Morgan would normally never find attractive was not burning up inside of him. Just that laid back look, the shirt looking softly dulled from washes and his hair not as made up as it had been hours and hours before. Morgan wanted to scream, he never had actually gotten rejected before and he didn't think so highly of himself that he thought he never would but it was a sting since goodness, look at Jamie. He had gotten a squirmy feeling the second he laid eyes on the other when the security guard dragged him in. Morgan felt like he could explode, perhaps singe the other with some bitter words before going off to do what he came for but he was in his pajamas, looking soft and comfy himself, hand hidden by the long sleeves and his collar bones and nearly one of his shoulders peeking out from the deep, deep collar of his shirt. His anger wouldn't have the full effect when he looked like he was ready to sleep. Huffing Morgan was about to just say he would be working at the wall but a fairly loud meow interrupted his train of thoughts and then he was searching for the source. Everything literally melted away. There was nothing better than animals that made Morgan soft all over. He was at Jamie's desk quick, not bothering with a hello as he gushed over the kitten, crouching down to be able to fawn over it. The kitten coming over to him and attaching itself to his pullover with its tiny claws and that's when Morgan lost it, the little one literally trying to climb up his top, its light weight causing his pullover to sag at the front, revealing more of his chest."Hi little buddy, having fun there? " he cooed.

"I have no idea what you like so honestly I don't know what to tell you," Evan said slowly as he grabbed a menu for himself. He scanned through the meals quickly because he knew them all already, was just trying to get an idea to tell Donovan. This being the first and maybe only time the male ate here, he wanted him to enjoy the snack this early in the morning, before dawn. For himself he been thinking to take something light, maybe some rice - or he would make this an extra early breakfast and order an omelet. Most of the food that they served here was rather simple, old recipes and nothing too fancy or foreign. "You could go for the specials," he then suggested with a hum, nodding slowly. "They are called specials for a reason," he added as he reached over to point out the small but diverse section of the menu. Evan looked up at the man across from him, trying to read his face and Hus reaction. There was a smile on Donovan's face but that meant nothing, even if he really wanted to believe that the other artist was genuine about the feelings that he portrayed. His eyes trailed along his eyebrows and hung on the warm depth in his eyes for a moment before he observed the curve of Donovan's nose down to the horribly attractive lips, in a soft friendly smile, which were all but inviting him to kiss the older male. And Evan was probably just imagining the invitation, in the same way that he was using the excuse of wanting to see Donovan's reaction just to be able to take a proper look at his face in proper lighting that in no way resembled the yellow tinted, eerie street lamps outside with the dim oppressing shadows of a city at night pressing forward around them. Averting his eyes back to the menu in front of him, he let his eyes run down its length without actually seeing anything. He let out a soft breath before nodding to himself and deciding on the omelet with spinach. Even if it was technically still night and that was a breakfast meal, Evan was here often enough that the staff knew home and wouldn't mind serving him what he asked for.
Jamie was expecting Morgan and had readied himself for the sight and personality of the boy. As his gaze settled on him though and he took in the more than comfortable and soft looking clothes on Morgan - more so than his own, he suspected they could be what he wore to bed and even if not, he saw the image clearly before his eyes - he especially drank in the bare skin that showed. It was beautiful, really. Morgan was beautiful and it warmed him from deep inside. Just seeing the teen, being in near proximity was enough to make Jamie felt more at ease. He knew he had already fallen but there was nothing he could tell himself to be able to convince him that it was a bad thing because as much as it made him feel like a naive teenager, there were butterflies in his stomach and he saw nothing but good and happiness in Morgan. There was no way he would be denying happiness of any kind, not after he'd been through. Maybe opposites did attract in a way even though Jamie had always hated all the traditional sayings. If he was honest, he couldn't even keep track of his thoughts. They were all over the place but it wasn't unpleasant. He was smiling as he watched the boy rush over to Calcifer when the kitten pleaded for attention. "Hello Morgan," he greeted him despite the male not acknowledge in the least. "Meet Calcifer, the little devil," he added and pretended to be watching over the kitten as it clung to Morgan's swesater when really, his eyes hung on the pale, soft skin, saving the sight in his memory and wanting closer, wanting to touch, to drag his lips across the skin.

Donovan rose a brow at Evan,"Cheeky" he supplied with a smirk at the 'You could go for the specials, they are called specials for a reason' remark that was rather cute. He wanted to say something cheeky back, something flirty like 'I don't see you on the menu' but that would be too wrong, that would be too forward and clearly would come off as gay-- which Donovan is but wasn't sure if Evan was interested. It made him a little ill inside that he couldn't just flirt with the guy even though a guy could flirt with a girl without a care, without knowledge of her sexuality and it would be totally acceptable and normal. He was a little sour with the world over the inequalities that many people who weren't straight, he really wished he could just flirt with the pretty guys he see's on the streets without a worry that maybe he was going to get bashed in the face for 'insulting a mans straighthood'. Looking over the specials he found himself a plate he thought sounded quite amazing and decided on it rather quickly, he wasn't picky. Placing the menu down Donovan stretched his legs beneath the both and mumbled a sorry when he knocked legs with Evan, completely accidental because he didn't flirt like a sixteen year old."Do this often? Take on unsuspecting victims and stroll them around the city for a couple of hours, hm?" he joked.
The small kitten was honestly the cutest thing Morgan has ever seen in his entire life, so eager and playful, persistent too as it traveled up Morgan's tops with Morgan's hands hovering just a little below the kitten bum in case it were to fall. Morgan hadn't ever been allowed to have a pet, his mother allergic to their fur although she was rarely even home to get an allergic reaction from a furry ball. Least to say, whenever Morgan was with animals he was so excited and gleeful, he couldn't see anything wrong about the little kitten, found it immensely adorable and he would honestly walk right out of here with the little one if he could. "Calcifer, hey little buddy, what a sweet name you got there, so much cooler than mines" Morgan cooed to the kitten, wrapping his hand around the others back once Calcifer made it to his shoulder, sniffing around and moving in Morgan's soft grip, trying to either lick or bite the boys jaw. "Jamie's just bitter I bet, you can't be a devil, you're so precious, jeez, if you're such a devil I'll keep you for myself, how does that sound?" The kitten clearly didn't understand what he was saying but let out a loud meow either way and Morgan couldn't stop himself from squealing,"You can live inside of my shirt yeah," he said softly as Calcifer's legs dipped into his shirt as if the kitten was trying to slip underneath.

Evan shook his head at himself, his cheeks coloring ever so slightly again at the comment. It was late, he could alewady feel the weariness tugging at his bones. He felt wide awake but aapparently his mind was starting to get a little fuzzy. Under no circumstances was he going to just end this, or shorten it, he intended to spend as much time with Donovan as possible - until it was time to head to home to change for work even. This was a special night, he was allowing himself something he usually didn't and now that he was, he wanted as much out of it as he could get. He'd just drinks a couple coffees later during the day to stay awake and would crash early the next evening together with Maddy. Not replying to the apology of the accidental touch under the table, Evan just chuckled at the teasing question. He didn't mind any kind of touch that came from the attractive male currently sitting across from him. Donovan could just go ahead and bluntly grab his ass - which he usually considered an asshole move when done to anyone tthat didn't give their consent - he wouldn't mind. Donovan was an exception - the only exception to be exact-, which was the reason why they were sitting here now and why he hadn't blown him off yet. That was something he kept to himself though as he grinned over at the other. "Once a month Tuesdays and every other Friday, " he replied jokingly with a playful nod. "Where better to look for candidates to recruit for my secret superhero team but in the middle of the night in some alleyway in New York?" He added before he could bite it back for sounding too geeky. Since the unicorn graffiti hadn't chased Donovan off yet though, he felt safe sayinfg whatever and just assuming that if nothing else, the man was going to take it all as a joke and forget it within a few minutes.
Jamie could've done like Morgan and started cooing but not because of sweet Calcifer this time and the way he was clambering all over the boy, comfortable with him and trusting with a naivity and innocence that only a child or a pet could possess, believing in no pain or evil in the world. That was something Jamie would try his hardest to maintain in the kitten as it grew. There was no reason to ever let anything harmful anywhere near him and he would get nothing but love and care. Seeing as the architect was living solo lately, there was no one Calcifer had to share the love with. Except now there was Morgan in the picture who would definitely also be getting some admiration from Jamie. The scene in front of him was just too cute and he couldn't help letting out a light hearted chuckle. "Not so fast. I wouldn't even let a pretty face like yours take him anywhere without me, sorry," he told him with a small shrug. "And how do you think he got the name? Of course he's a tiny demon," he added, now glancing at the mischievous creature that really just had no limits to its curiosity. Jamie meant it all lovingly of course, resorting to nicknames instead of just telling the cat repeatedly how he loved him. The animals couldn't understand any words anyway, they heard the soft tone, felt the love in one's body language and actions. There was no need for words. "It's no wonder you two are getting along so great. You're both mini creatures of hell," he teased. "Always distracting me from work." Once again, he meant it kindly, he was glad for the distraction and happy to have them both around.

Donovan rolled his eyes fondly, "I don't know how to feel about that Evan, I had thought I was special and now you tell me you've been recruiting people for a team?" Donovan tsks, shaking his head along with it as if Evan had done something horribly wrong which he sort of had, in the least wrong way possible. "I'm hurt I wasn't your first pick, now I know your scheme and I'm going to out you to the entire city" Demetri said with a big smile that was on the crisp of becoming a grin. An elder woman came around to their table after a short time, short and chubby with long white hair and a friendly smile that was on the cusp of tired. Donovan couldn't imagine why such an elder lady would be working the graveyard shift but didn't voice himself in fear of sounding disrespectful. "Hello dears, got your orders ready?" she asked thickly, her accent drowsy and held a southern twang. Demetri turned to face her and nodded, pointing to the special he wanted and asking a glass of hot chocolate on the side with an immense amount of whip cream, his sweet tooth had never died down over the course of his years. He could probably beat a child in a sweet eating contest and he wouldn't be ashamed of it either, he would feel bad though, he knows kids hate to lose. He would probably let the kid win because his heart couldn't take it. "What about you love?" she asked towards Evan, Donovan taking it as a chance to stare at Evan, admire the bow of his upper lip and the fullness of his bottom, the thick fan of eyelashes that could cast shadows over his cheeks and his pretty, pretty eyes.

Morgan continued to coo and fall in love with Calcifer who definitely didn't stay still and didn't have have personal boundaries as the kitten tried to cling onto Morgan's beanie, successfully pulling it down and off of his head to reveal unruly and loose curls, Calcifer seemed to forget about the beanie a day grew more interested in Morgan's hair as the kitten pawed through the soft mess till it caused a mess and tangled it's paw and Morgan hissed, "Ow, fuck, alright you're evil, definitely like the fire demon" Morgan grumbled as he pulled the kitten from his hair and shook his head, keeping Calcifer on his lap as he pulled his beanie back on and tucked all the hair back till just a few wisps curled around his neck and ears. "Hear that? Daddy said I could keep you if he tags along, don't think both of you can fit under my shirt but hey, I'm willing to try" Morgan hadn't even noticed how coy and flirtatious his voice had gotten, natural and soft to his tone as he rubbed Calcifers head with his thumb, "Hey, watch it, I'm not distracting, you're just easily distracted Jamie, don't try and come at me and Calcifer, and if we are oh so distracting then I'm sure this cutie and I could leave you"

"Aww no," Evan pouted, using the tactic that his daughter so often used, her behavior rubbing off on him more than he realized. "I just gave you all my trust and you betrayed me," he whined, feigning light exasperation. Then he pursed his lips and cocked his head lightly with a smile as he gazed at him with a spark in his eyes. "How do you know though? I never said you weren't the first," he declared playfully. Donovan would be his first choice. If he ever wanted to create a team of superheroes, he'd call him up and make him his second in command without hesitation. Evan usually wasn't usually so quick to trust and rely on people but there was just something about this particular young man and he couldn't put his finger on it but he made him want to take the risk and jump straight into the eye of the storm. It was like in his younger years when he'd carelessly act on impulse. There had been uncomfortable consequences every now and then but it had been a time full of adrenaline and fun, spontaneous exhilaration and adventure. He missed that. But life had taught him better. And he wasn't unhappy. This was just a different phase of his life - tougher without question, but he was no teenager anymore, he was fully grown and this was life. It went without saying that he was up for the challenge and would make the best of it all. The best, which brought him here to the diner, ordering his breakfast meal in the early, early morning hours in the homey diner, smiling at Mrs Myers, who was oh so gentle and friendly. She always paid Maddy special attention and gave her a little something extra. Evan wouldn't be surprised if the girl started calling the gentle old lady 'Grandma' because she was the closest to that that the girl had - and would ever have, he feared. Giving the woman a wide, caring smile along with his order, he yaverted his gaze to the table shortly before looking up to Donovan again. He'd never told Mrs Myers that Maddy was his child but he was quite sure she knew.
Jamie's eyes shot to the curly mess on Morgan's head and he was instantly more in love. The hair had been hidden all the while and he hadn't paid any attention to it but now he wanted to thank Calcifer for bringing the truth to the light and wanted to steal the boy's beanie and hide it so he could admire it the whole time. It was crazy because he couldn't find a thing he didn't like about the teen, except for his age because it was an obstacle but then again it might be what gave Morgan the vivid, carefree personality that he carried weightlessly in his small frame. "Daddy?" He repeated in slight surprised amusement. The word described his feelings to the kitten accurately but it also felt oddly foolish. "You make me sound so old," he complained with a light huff, that may or may not have bordered on something like a whine. He shook his head in determination. "Don't think I'd ever let you get away," he declared and he wasn't even sure himself if he meant it just because of Calcifer or if it was meant for Morgan in general. There meeting was one of chance, their current relationship rather fleeting and about as sturdy as a spiderweb, maybe strong enough to withstand a feather but no more. Jamie could just see it happening the boy stopped coming, every one of their meetings feeling like it could be the last. There was no guarantee for the future, no obligation for Morgan and there was no hope for him to see the teen again if he decided to not return. It was really all out of Jamie's hands. All he could do was try to give him a reason to keep coming back.

"You have yet to correct me wrong have you not? " Donovan shot back artfully, doing rather well with arguments as his school years had been filled with them. He could probably be a lawyer if he had the interest and lost his fear of ruining people's lives. He had once wanted to be a doctor but the dream had been fleeting once he realized that if someone died it was on his hand's, it would be his fault for not trying harder and that did nothing but attack Donovan's dreams and kick them to the side. Maybe that was why he liked art, he couldn't hurt anyone this way, if anything it put a smile on people's faces, made their day and brightened their passings even though more often than not it was vandalism.

"You speak to her as if you know her very well, I bet you come here so often that lovely lady already knew your order" Donovan moved his leg back once he had realized he had kept it by Evans for far too long, he doubted Evan really noticed or cared but he didn't want to seem weird if perchance the other had noticed but didn't pull away for whatever reason. Curling his hands out in front of him Donovan shot Evan a look, teasing with a smile, "Couldn't put it pass you either, you seem like the type to stick to your usual" Which was not a bad thing at all if Donovan said so himself, there would always be something comforting about common places or items you sknow by heart. He had a stuffed giraffe at home, small and worn, broken seams and a missing button of an eye that he had since he was around 5 which he had taken to school for two years straight. He was a grown man now but he always liked looking to his bookshelf and seeing the flimsy plush, his stomach over flowing with warmth. There was a flower shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn that his mother used to always buy a single daffodil that gave him the same feelings whenever he passed by.
    -
Jamie wasn't going to see Morgan's hair again for a long time, the boy have more beanies than actual clothing at home, tucked into drawers they shouldn't be, on the floor of his closet, racks of clothing, by his pillow, thrown haphazardly to his desk. They were probably his favorite things since they hid his hair well and were perfect for the winter--didn't hurt that he looked super cute in them either. Morgan mad a face at the older man, raising a brow and chuckling, "It's because you are old, bet you have like ten other cats at home" he jokes. Jamie didn't look like the cat man type, he looked like he could pull anyone onto his lap in seconds, he definitely could with Morgan. "Right Calcifer, bet you're number twenty five in his life collection, and the cutest too" Morgan fawned over the kitten before placing him on top of the desk, Calcifer quick to jump right back on to Morgan's lap."I think Calcifer wants to live with me, so I'm definitely gonna get away, though you're welcomed to join, got enough space in my room for a kitten and you" Morgan flirts naturally, not even watching his words nor taking them back once they were spoken. He nearly forgot why he even came here for, Jamie and his kitten were awfully distracting though who was he to blame? Calcifer seemed to have made himself at home on Morgan's lap, curled up into the smallest ball pressed against the boys jumper.
