"You want an official statement, huh?" Evan asked with a chuckle, as he shook his head in amusement. Donovan knew how to argue, would probably have a chanceo of going up against Maddy, which was quite something if you asked him. The girl was as stubborn as they came and when she insisted on talking something out, Evan had no way of worming his way out. It was just like that now, where he didn't want to admit it to himself that this wasn't just a casual night of hanging about with a fellow street artist, that it was something different, something special. Donovan was requesting it though and he sure as hell wasn't going to be the one to ruin the moment, not when he could make this night last for almost an eternity. Everything at night could feel surreal or endless, that was the beauty of the world when the sun went down and the dark settled in, promising to keep everything a secret so one could easily return to daily life in the morning, leaving one with memories and regrets. Evan loved that about the night, especially here in New York, where the whole city still pulsated with life, no matter the hour. "Alright," he then declared with a smile, "You are so far the one and only person I have chosen as a possible recruit for my team." There was more to those words than he even wanted there to be but Evan didn't need for Donovan to get the hidden context. A part of him wanted to have the other man in the know and this part of him was stronger at the moment, knowing his mouth was going to burn at the memory of some words he said in the morning.
Donovan was right and Evan gave him a nod with a smile. Usual was good, usual was comfortable when life got stressful and things kept changing and you needed something to ground you. As a teen he hadn't always liked to be bound, had fooled around enough times but as far as he knew that was what teenagers did. When he was in a relationship, he was loyal and trustworthy, though. He saw no point in being with someone if you were going to sneak around their backs. Anyways, children needed familiar things, be it a diner if they couldn't get it anywhere else. "I don't usually come in here this late," Evan told him. "But this is not the first time I placed that order, that you got right."
Jamie laughed lightly as he crossed his arms. "And there it goes from 10 cats to 25 in two seconds flat," he remarked. "I think I need to get my mirrior checked because according to you I'm twice as old as I assumed I was," he mentioned, watching Morgan with the kitten as if nothing else in the world existed, a permanent smile having settled on his lips. "If I dare say, one room could be a bit too cozy for the three of us. If you're taking him anywhere, take him with you to my place. We'd have the whole apartment for ourselves. I don't think your parents would appreciate finding a strange man in your room," Jamie replied and could've kicked himself for mentioning parents because when was there ever a right time to mention parents. In one way or another, they always ended up a sore spot, especially while he, a grown man, was practically lusting over a minor. It was just like him to remind himself of said sore spots and rub them in his own face. "Calcifer knows how to take up a whole bed anyway," he then added to bring them away from the disasterous topic. "If you don't have a king sized one, he'll end up kicking you out of bed for the room and still be cranky when he wakes up because he needs more space," he joked. Calcifer currently took up a fraction of Morgan's lap and that was not doing Jamie's statement any good. But it was no lie that the kitten got half of the king sized bed he had at home, not that he ever traveled further than the pillow except to crawl on top of his human companion and curl up right over his heart beat or furrow under his arm in seek of warmth and protection. Jamie imagined the little devil having nightmares or missing his mother and siblings even though experts said that animals would quickly enough bond to their owners and didn't mourn over the family they were taken away from. He didn't know quite what he believed but he was glad that Calcifer requested the same comfort he was needy for at times as well.
