When he'd walked into the bathroom, Elias had expected to close the door behind him and pee, because he'd gone in there to relieve his bladder. What he hadn't expected was for a bucket to fall on his head. It didn't fall dead on, but poured its contents over him and bounced to the ground. So he'd gone in the bathroom to pee, and had ended up with what seemed to be glue and glitter covering the upper half of his body. For a few moments, he just stood there, lips pressed together and jaw clenched, and then he reached up to wipe some glue from his eyes as he turned around, searching for whoever had set up the prank. Things were about to get interesting...
Hickory somehow managed to sit still while her hair and make-up was being done, though by the end of it, she felt as if half of her hair had been pulled out and she could feel all the make-up on her face. A little was alright, but it felt as if it had been overdone and it kind of itched... but she'd dealt through it, and supposed she looked 'presentable' in the short pink dress and her hair done up. The past few days had basically been her learning the rules and what she was expected to do. There were variations from what she'd learned at the academy growing up, but that seemed to be the hardest of it. It seemed if she just kept her head down and listened to orders, she was fine.

Still, no one had bothered actually telling her what she was supposed to do at this party, and after she'd been made presentable, she'd been pointedly told to put on a pair of heels and go see 'the Sir'. So with an air of resignation, she'd put on the shoes with the shortest heel, not really caring that they were black, and then she'd gone to see Darcy as she'd been instructed. By this time, she at least knew how this went, so she knocked on the door lightly and waited to be acknowledged.

Arya had lost her patience and had begun to draw a new picture, one of part of the pack running together. What brought her out of concentration was the sound of something hitting the floor in the bathroom. She looked up with a half-grin on her face, expecting to see Benjamin staring at her. She wasn't faced with what she had been expecting. She saw Elias looking around, glue and glitter covering his upper body. Her eyes widened as she made eye contact with him, practically launching herself at her door in an attempt to close and lock it before Elias could reach it.
Darcy himself had showered and dressed in a pair of dress pants and a dark red button-up shirt, nothing overly fancy, with his hair slicked back. He had just been finishing up his hair when he heard a knock at the door. Assuming that it was Hickory, he checked his appearance in the mirror one final time before heading over to open it. He pulled it open, a small smile on his lips as he looked her over. "You look good," he spoke, moving around her to shut the door behind him. "Come on, our guests should have arrived by now," he murmured, leading her down the stairs as he finished rolling his sleeves half way up his arms. "if anyone says something you don't like, try to bite your tongue. Not everyone is as kind to wolves as one would hope," he muttered just before they reached the bottom of the stairs. Greeted by a maid serving glasses of champagne, he plucked one off the tray for himself. He glanced back to Hickory, figuring that if she wanted one, one couldn't hurt. Not that much, anyway.

It didn't take Elias long to figure out who had set up the bucket, especially since the moment he saw the runt and made eye-contact with her, she made a run for her room door. He might've been able to handle himself better if it had been someone else, someone who'd just wanted to mess with him and get a laugh. But it was different because it was her. So he ran for the door as well, his body slamming into it right as it closed. A growl ripped out of him as he all but attacked the doorknob and pushed at the door to try and force it open with the weight of his body. She was so not getting away with this.
Hickory had to bite back a sigh as rather than being told what she was supposed to do, she was simply told to attempt to bite her tongue if someone said something to her that she didn't like. She guessed that meant that this party was going to be interesting... "Yes, Sir," she answered as he plucked up a glass of wine. "What am I supposed to be doing during this party though?" she asked, since apparently she wasn't going to be told willingly. "I asked someone else but I was just told to put on some high heels and go find you...." she trailed off, meeting his eyes.

A race against time and just as quickly as she moved, Elias moved. Arya just managed to shut the door and was in the midst of locking it before he managed to shove the door open, causing her to fall backwards. She shoved herself backwards, her eyes wide as she stared up at Elias. This so wasn't going to end well. You didn't have to tell her that, not even once. She swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat, trying to speak around the sudden dryness in her mouth. "Didn't. Mean it. For you?" She said, her voice little more than a squeak, sounding more like a question than anything else.
Darcy looked to her and shrugged, a bit of a devilish grin turning to his features. "Just enjoy yourself. That's what parties are all about, dear," he murmured, turning when his name was called. He searched the crowd and when he made eye contact with who had called him, he quickly made his way over to Daniel. Brittany, Daniel's girlfriend, was smirking as she eyed Hickory up.

"When will you decide that werewolves aren't worth your time? Someone of your status should only have someone of equal status," she said with a sneer, glaring at Hickory now. Darcy only rollled his eyes and took Daniel by the elbow, leading him away from the girls. He was in no mood for the girl's drama, he was going to let it go and enjoy himself. So be it if Brittany couldn't keep her mouth shut.

His anger was pretty much all that Elias noticed, but even if he had noticed the runt's fear, it might not have mattered to him in that moment. He was beyond pissed. "Is that a question?" Even his voice was menacing as he stalked in the room and towards her. Then, all of a sudden, he launched himself at her. Even so, he only barely got in a single hit before he was being dragged backwards. He couldn't hear anything over the blood roaring in his ears despite that they were shouting at him, and before he knew it, he was being pinned to the ground under what felt like had to be at least three people.
Hickory thought she should probably be worried about the slightly evil look that Darcy had, and she soon discovered she was right as she was left alone with a blonde woman who hadn't made a good first impression. Despite the earlier jab and open glare, Hickory forced herself to give the woman a smile. She didn't say anything though, afraid of what might come out of her mouth. Though she knew she could produce civil words, she doubted her tone would be very nice. Meanwhile, her mind was attempting to come up with some way to get away from this woman that didn't include just turning and walking away. Besides, she somehow figured that wouldn't work...

Arya's head smacked back against the floor, causing her to let out a cry as she moved to raise her arms to protect herself. She had kept expecting another hit to come and when it didn't, she was so confused. She "laid on the floor, shaking like a leaf as she waited for just a moment longer before the shouting began. Lowering her arms, she swallowed as she looked to several of her packmates holding Elias down and then up to their luna who was looking at her disapprovingly. Her eyes were wide as she shakily moved to her feet, immediately backing away from the still angry Elias.
"Don't you see? Darcy doesn't want to be seen with the likes of you," Brittany spat, glaring at Hickory as she crossed her arms. She had been raised to hate werewolves - her family had fought to put them in their rightful place. She was only glad that they finally had been. "You're a disgrace to this entire world," she spoke, rolling her eyes as she took a sip of her glass of champagne. God, her skin was crawling just being this close to a wolf.

It took several minutes for Elias to calm down enough to actually realize what was going on, and minutes before before he felt in control of himself again. "Can you guys get off me now so I can get this damn glue off before it starts drying?" he muttered, glaring at the floor. The glue had actually already started in places where it was thinner, like on his face except in occasional globs, though it was pretty thick in his hair and on his shoulders. Almost as soon as he'd finished speaking, one glob of glitter and glue fell right on his nose and a small growl rose from his chest as his jaw clenched, but he stayed still, trying to prove he was in control of himself again. "Come on, guys. I'm just going to go upstairs and wash off."
Hickory had stayed silent, but she couldn't just not say something. "If that were true, I highly doubt I would be all dressed up and standing down here with you right now," she told the blonde, all the while struggling to keep her voice polite. To her ears, it was almost too polite, but that was okay. It was better than prickly and rude. Still, she chose not to reply to the comment about being a disgrace to the world. There was absolutely nothing she could say that would even be mildly acceptable.

The boys backed away from Elias, one lending a hand to help him to his feet but they still made sure to stay between Elias and Arya. It was nearly an hour later and after a lecture that had never seemed to end, and Arya's reasons as to what happened, before she was left alone. Nerves on fire, she hesitated, wondering if what she was about to do was an incredibly stupid ideea or not. Swallowing as she came to a stop outside of Elias' room, Arya knocked on it before stepping back, her head lowered as she fumbled with the edge of her shirt.
"You're only a status symbol, honey. THat's all you are. He'll use you and when he's tired of looking at you, he'll toss you out. Just like he has to all the trash before you," Brittany answered back with a laugh, rolling her eyes. She shook her head, glancing over to both Darcy and Benjamin. "Sorry to break your little heart, but he doesn't care about you. All you are is a toy to entertain him for a little bit of time."

It had actually taken Elias nearly an hour in order to get every last bit of glue off him. He'd attempted to do it with a washcloth alone at first, but then had ended up in the shower and used both soap and shampoo to help loosen the drying globs. When he got out of the shower, he returned to the washcloth to finish off whatever glue was still holding on. He was actually toweling off his hair when a knock came at his door. "Give me a moment!" he called out to whoever it was, and tossed the towel in a basket. Then he got dressed and went to the door, opening it, his eyes soon landing on the runt standing there. He was still and quiet for a moment, his jaw clenching. "Are you particularly sure you want to be anywhere near me right at this moment?" he asked pointedly.
You don't sound very sorry to 'break my little heart', Hickory thought. And honestly, most of what this blonde woman was saying rolled right off her. She knew how wolves were seen, and unfortunately, had heard quite a bit about what to expect once she was away from the academy. She had no delusions on how she was seen. But being a wolf didn't make her trash. And that's what made her clamp down on her tongue before she could say something she would regret. "Okay," was about all she managed, because she didn't trust herself to say any more.

Arya moved nervously as Elias stared down at her, she could just feel the anger rolling off of him. She took a small step back, considering briefly if she should simply turn around and run away from he said anything. But before she could even make the decision, he spoke. She drew in a deep breath and shrugged her shoulders, "I just wanted to apologise. I know you're mad at me but it honestly wasn't meant for you. It was supposed to be for Ben," she said, looking up to him nervously, wondering if he was going to ever actually be nice to her. Or you know. Forgive her for today.
Brittany smirked to herself, noticing that she was getting to the werewolf. Just like she wanted. "Has he told you about what happened to his last werewolf?" She asked, turning to face Hickory full on now. There was a smirk on her lips as she spoke, fully doubting that Hickory was aware of what had happened to Darcy's last wolf. While it probably wasn't the worst fate ever, it still wasn't one to be desired.

Elias watched her as she spoke, trying to determine for a few beats whether she was lying to him or not. In the end, probably most of the reason he believed her was simply because of how scared she was of him. He didn't think she would actually target him for something knowing what he would undoubtedly at least attempt to do to her in retaliation. "Okay, fine," he said in a flat tone and then stepped out into the hall, closing the door behind her. "Now I gotta go get yelled at since I finally got rid of all the glue." She was standing in the way, so he waited for her to step aside so he could get the lecturing and yelling over with.
Hickory had inched back just barely, about to just leave, when the awful woman started speaking again. Why couldn't she just shut up? "No, I don't believe I know that story." She pressed her lips together in what was supposed to be a smile but probably looked more pained than anything. "But I'm fairly certain you're about to tell me, right?" Oops, she hadn't meant to say that... just think it.

"Sandra isn't going to yell at you. I told her it was my fault and that I accepted it. That I wasn't angry at you at all," Arya murmured after a moment of silence, looking away from him. Whether their alpha was going to or not was a different story but at least their luna wasn't going to. She drew in a deep breath and stepped out of his way, turning to make her way back to her own room. She figured it was probably a good idea for her to simply hide away in her room. At least for the rest of the night.
"He used her for a few months and then when he decided he was no longer entertained by her, he decided she was a gift to one of his underlings. Nothing but dirty seconds, thrown away because she no longer proved worth the time or the money to keep her," Brittany spoke, shrugging her shoulders as she let out a harsh laugh. "Shame really. Knowing you'll never amount to anything. Isn't it?"

Elias wasn't really sure how to reply and really didn't want to thank her, especially because of what had happened, so he said nothing as she stepped out of his way, and he headed to receive his lecture/yelling. Apparently the runt's prediction about the yelling had been right somehow, and instead he was simply lectured, about his temper mostly, and then about how he treated Arya. He sat through it, doing his best to look repentant, and then eventually he was dismissed. Except he wasn't... they wanted him to come back after retrieving the runt. Shit. But he simply agreed and went to find her.
The thought of being given away like an object prickled at Hickory, though she knew it happened. All werewolves really were to most people was actually property. But honestly, she was more just sick and tired of this blonde woman than anything else, and that was why for just a moment, she lost her filter. "Would you just shut up already?" fell out of her mouth before she could even think to stop it. "You aren't telling me a whole lot that I don't know. Wolves are slaves, property basically, and we're taken from our parents and put in schools to learn how to be slaves. And if we don't act properly, or if someone decides they just don't like us, bad things happen. I get it. At least we can be good people though. We aren't the ones enslaving a different species, are we? And you, specifically -I've never met a more horrible person! I'm surprised anyone can stand to be around you honestly. Can you manage to keep your mouth shut and not insult them? Do you bribe them? I've been trying to get away from you since you walked in the door!" And just like that... the floodgates burst.

Arya had retired to her bedroom and wasn't particularly expecting to be bothered - she had figured she would stay up in her room to keep from causing nay more problems than she already had caused. So now, she was laying on her bed, her mind miles away, only to jump when she was yanked back by the knock on her door. She hesitated before moving over to her door and opening it. She looked up to Elias, eyebrow raising as she looked up to Elias. Her confusion was evident and she nearly shut the door in the wolf's face but decided to follow him down to the living room after being told they had been summoned.
Brittany looked taken aback by Hickory's response, her eyes going wide for a moment as she processed her words. She opened and closed her mouth multiple times, eyebrows furrowing before she lifted her nose intot he air. "Just what I thought. You're nothing but a dog," she spat, sneering as she turned to walk away finally, knowing she had hit Hickory's buttons - people were already whispering and pointing at the girl.

By the time the two got back to the living room, everyone else in the pack had been cleared, probably being told to just go in their rooms for a while, and the only two people sitting in the room were their alpha and luna, Hunter and Sandra. "What's going on?" Elias asked shortly after sitting down in a chair across from the two but was still a ways away from the runt. His anger had abated for the most part, but that didn't mean he suddenly wanted to be near her. His animosity went beyond the stupid prank.... even if he still couldn't smell anything except the acrid stench of glue. It was like it was still there, stuck to him, and he couldn't get rid of it, even though he knew for sure that he'd washed it all off. He'd at least made certain of that. Especially because of the glitter.
If I'm a dog, you're lucky I didn't bite you. Hickory had by this time regained control of herself and was happy to see the witch leave, even if she'd managed to cause a scene. Even knowing she was likely to be in huge trouble for that, somehow she still managed to feel at least a little satisfied at the reaction the blonde woman had had. Maybe the whole point of it had been to push her buttons, but the woman definitely looked as if she hadn't expected it to work so well and be thoroughly insulted in the meantime.

But rather than try to hide and delay the inevitable as many would do, she actually walked over to Darcy then, which was, unfortunately, where the blonde woman had gone since her date had been talking to Darcy. She didn't bother to say anything or defend herself, figuring it would fall on deaf ears, and instead just met his gaze. Whatever was going to happen would happen.

Arya followed Elias, moving to sit in the chair opposite her packmember as they were stared down by Hunter and Sandra. She swallowed as she played with the edge of her shirt - a nervous habit of hers. And feeling like she was about to be hit with a bombshell, she had a reason to be nervous. Hunter cleared his voice and when he had both of their attention, eh opened his mouth to speak. "Sandra and I have been speaking, we don't like such problems arising in our pack," he said, looking between Arya and Elias as he spoke. "So we want you both to start spending more time together. Get to know each other. So that you can learn to like each other."
Darcy had been fully aware of the situation, his eyes focused on both Hickory and on Brittany. But the moment the two separated, he turned his back to them as if he was completely oblivious. Only problem here for Hickory was that he wasn't. You didn't grow up in his line of work and not have some sort of observation skills.

He cleared his throat when she approached, said nothing to her and bid the two fairwell before he turned to lead her away. "What did I tell you?" He spoke, once they had stepped onto the back deck. He leaned onto the railing, watching the liquid swirl around in his glass, not bothering to look at her. He was frustrated and annoyed at her completely, he didn't think looking at was a good idea. At least for her.

For a few moments, Elias opened his mouth as if to speak, and then closed it again, shortly followed by opening it once more. He seemed to be struggling to even make a sound, much less form words... though the truth of it was that he was trying to figure out what in the world to say. From the way the whole meeting had gone, they'd obviously known that this proclamation wouldn't be liked, but his mind was trying to come to terms with what exactly it meant. "Uhh... what exactly do you mean by 'spend more time together'?" he finally asked, looking between Hunter and Sandra, who both looked deadly serious about it. This had the look of something that had been boiling just under the surface for a while and had finally bubbled over.
Though he didn't say anything as he started to move away, Hickory knew she was expected to follow, and so she had, ending up just standing out on the deck with her arms folded in front of her as he leaned against a nearby railing. "Before I was left with a wi-" she quickly corrected herself. "Before the party, you said something about enjoying myself. When we first met, you told me you didn't want to be a cruel owner but you would be," she answered dutifully, not quite sure what he meant, but suspecting it was the latter of what she'd regurgitated. "I am sorry for causing a scene, but I won't apologize for defending myself, and I won't try to weasel out of whatever you have decided to do. From what I've figured out so far, you don't really seem the sort of person to change your mind anyway, sir."

Arya was tensed, her head lowered as she stared at her lap. The words that came from their leaders, she just wanted to duck out of the room and run. Run all the way out of their territory and yet, there was nothing she could do about it. Because she knew this pack was her family, a runt like her had no way to get into another pack. She swallowed and looked up as Sandra began to speak.

"Spend time together on a daily basis. You're both to cook, and clean. When you go on runs, you go together. When you leave for town, you both go together. You need to get better acquainted with each other," Sandra explained, watching them both carefully.
Darcy wasn't going to sit here and deny it. He was quite a bit surprised by what she was saying and how she already seemed to know him - having only met him a few days prior. It wasn't as if they had spent all day together either. He nodded as she spoke, pulling out a pack of cigarettes and lighting one. He shrugged as she finished, "You seem to have learned more about me in the past few days than it takes some people years to learn and to get through their fuckin' skulls," he muttered, running a hand through his hair. He knew what was expected of him - he knew he should put a punishment on display but he knew all too well that Brittany had provoked her. He wasn't oblivious to the girl's attraction to it, it seemed his friend, however, was. "I expect you to go upstairs and remain there until everyone has left. What you did was wrong, but I don't blame you for it. In the last. Brittany is a bitch and a whore to add to her lovely personality," he muttered, rolling his eyes as he backed away from the balcony. He tossed the cigarette on the ground, grinding it out with the bottom of his shoe. "Go. now."

Elias listened to Sandra with a sense of dread. She wasn't even putting a time limit on it... it would stop whenever they decided it would stop, and he had a feeling it would go on for a while. And while he wanted to argue, and while he almost did, he knew better. He gave his alpha and luna both a small, tight nod. "Okay..." he mumbled, staring at his lap. It was the only correct answer, especially with Sandra's tone that said any argument would be shot down in an instant anyway. No one here was in a good mood, and it certainly wasn't going to get any better any time soon.
Of everything that Hickory had expected, it hadn't been that she should go upstairs and wait until everyone left. Still, it was nice to know that she wasn't the only one who had realized that the girl, Brittany apparently, was a monster. But she didn't really get much chance to reply before she was told to just go. "Yes, sir." She gave him a puzzled look for a moment longer before she turned and went upstairs. And if there hadn't been a chance that their previous conversation would continue after the party was over, she might've just gone to sleep. Instead, all there was to do was wait...

"Starting tomorrow," Hunter added after a few moments, realising that Sandra hadn't said whether it was supposed to start tonight or wait until the next time. They both figured it was reasonable enough to give them time to prepare themselves, since neither of them seemed to get along. But it had to happen at some point. "You're dismissed," he said after another moment, waving his hand to shoo them out of the room.

Arya took that moment and stood, quickly making her way toward her room. She didn't want to be caught with Elias alone - not when he was sure to be in such a sour mood and he probably blamed her for what they had just been told.
Darcy didn't know what to do in regards to Hickory, or her behaviour. He waited a few minutes longer to head back inside, trying to collect his thoughts, a frown deepening on his features as the seconds ticked by. Personally, he couldn't blame the werewolf at all. Because he knew Brittany had provoked it, of that he was certain. He hadn't been there for the entire conversation and yet, he felt he already knew Hickory well enough to know she wasn't going to do that for the hell of it. Especially when he had given her clear instructions not to.

Sighing, he shook his head and decided it was time to head back inside. A few hours later, the last of his guests were leaving and he was making his way upstairs. He was nearly to his bedroom when he realised he had forgotten about the girl. He groaned for a moment, rubbing his temples before turning to head to her room where he knocked, to announce his presence.
