Alexander sighed after a few moments of being in his room, and then slowly made his way across the room to the closet door. He pulled it open, and moved down to the floor, feeling for the hitch in the floorboards that he was looking for. Once he found it, he pulled it up, revealing a small hidden compartment that he had made from pulling up the floorboards previously. Inside was a handgun, but that wasn't his object of interest. There was also a black case in there, which he pulled out, and then went over to his bed with it. He sat down on the edge of the bed, staring at the case, and couldn't bring himself to open it for a few moments. He eventually built up the strength to open it, though, and slowly pulled out what was inside- a ukulele. He set the case beside him on the bed, and stared it for a while- specifically the small picture strip that was tucked between two of the strings.... After staring at it for a long while, he put the ukulele back into the case, and then hid it back in the floorboards of the closet, making sure the compartment was hidden properly again before retiring to bed for the night...

Amber slept soundly throughout the night, not having any problems with sleeping. The next morning she woke a little after the sun rose. After getting out of bed, Amber grabbed her things and headed off to the bathroom, taking a shower and overall just getting ready for the day. Still she was not sure if she was leaving that day or the next but she needed to decide in the next hour if she was going to get heading. As much as she liked it here she could not stay here forever. After all it was Alexander's place and he had really only allowed her refuge for a few days. So she needed to head out in the next 24 hours or so. She was not going to over stay her welcome.

Alexander was already awake, and listening to the strange, eerie silence of the city before Amber had gotten up. He had been plagued by nightmares- as per usual- and decided to come out to the fire escape to watch the sun rise. As he listened inside the apartment as Amber stirred, and began to get ready. He had been thinking deeply on the subject, and was debating about whether or not he should ask her to stay.... He sighed as the gravity of the situation weighed on his mind.

Once Amber had finished washing up she headed into the kitchen to eat. During her shower she had decided to stay just one more day, but tomorrow morning she would leave as soon as the sun rose. It was better to get a head start out there. That way she had more time to find a place to hide out during the night. It really was no good to be walking around at night with all of the brain dead. Once she was finished through half of her meal, Amber began to wonder what was going on with Alexander. Was he still sleeping?

Alexander slipped in the window, then, and quickly spotted her, saying," Oh, hey. Good morning. Did I wake you up last night?" As he awaited her response, he walked up to the table, and sat down across from her, wiping his sleepy and heavy-lidded eyes.

"Maybe for a minute or two." Amber told him as she took another bite out of her meal. "But you quieted down rather quickly so I decided to head back to sleep." After taking the last few bites of her food she pushed it away slightly and leaned back. Her eyes were now stuck on Alexander, looking at him closely and watching him move. "But it looks like maybe you should be heading back to bed."

"Oh, I'll be fine," Alexander said, chuckling. He ran his fingers through his hair, and then cracked his knuckles and neck, before saying," That first time I woke up- which is when I probably woke you up- was the last time I was asleep. My nightmare was just too bad to go back to sleep. So, I decided to do some thinking and enjoy the sunrise when the time came."

Amber smiled a little. Now that was one of the last things that they could still enjoy in this world: the sunrise. Though sadly she was always busy packing up at that time to get moving that she didn't really enjoy it. Joy and life just seemed to have gotten sucked out of everything. "And was it beautiful?" She asked him with a grin.

He looked into her eyes, then. In that moment, his eyes could be seen twinkling the brightest she had ever seen, despite the somewhat depressing and dreary state that he seemed to be in. He cracked a little smile, and said," Yes.... I think it was the most beautiful that I have seen in a very long time." The only problem was, Alexander wasn't even sure that he was talking about the sunrise anymore...

Amber smiled a little when he said that. She was glad that he suddenly seemed to brighten up a bit. "Good." She told him as she movies up onto her feet, getting out of the chair. "So..." She rubbed the back of her neck before continuing. "If you don't mind I am going to stay for one more day. I'll leave tomorrow morning when the sun rises."

Alexander's face visually fell in the moment, but he tried to maintain his smile. "Oh," he said nodding slightly," Well okay. If that's what you want to do, that's fine. If you aren't ready for leaving yet, that's fine too, though. Where do you think you'll be headed once you leave?"

The moment his face fell Amber had noticed. In fact she had been a little surprised by it too. She did not think the news would affect him. After all he originally said she could only stay for a day. "East." Amber told him. "Just heading east until I can find somewhere safe to atay permanently." That was her goal at the moment was to get somewhere that she knew the zombies could not break into.

"Well, okay then. But, before you have to go, do you want to make another run to the store and see if we can scavenge anything else? Maybe bring another load or two back? It would just be easier to go now with the two of us- you know what I mean? If you don't want to, that's completely fine- it's just an idea, you know?" he asked, leaning back in his chair, and trying to wipe any signs of his sadness off of his face so that she wouldn't know anything.

Amber glanced over to the cupboards, thinking about going back. Even if she didn't go in this trip she could be able to grab all the food that she could carry. Going out again did not really benefit her. It only brought more risk. Though he had been kind enough to let her stay there, eat his food, use his water. So it didn't take her long to decide to go. "We can go hit it again if it hasn't been overrun."

"Okay, sounds good to me. When do you want to leave to go there? The sooner the better? Or do you want to rest up some more before going?" he asked, as he rose, and went to the cupboards himself and began to rifle through them, before pulling out a small can, and peeling up the tab. He pulled the top off, and grabbed a nearby fork before starting to scarf down the contents, realizing that he hadn't eaten dinner yesterday.

"The sooner the better." Amber said as she headed out of the kitchen. In this case she thought that it would be better to go sooner. Since they had taken care of all the walkers there the day before the place should be rather empty. The more time they gave it the more likely walkers would find themselves in there. She went into her room and went through her bag, trading out some of her weapons for others.

Alexander did the same himself, walking into his room and grabbing his knife vest. He also grabbed a handgun and a fragmentation grenade- just in case. He had forgotten them last time that they had gone, and he had almost regretted it. Once prepared, he went into the bathroom, and began to splash water on his face to combat the exhaustion that was clearly showing in his features. Then, he headed back out to the living room window with the first escape, and waiting for Amber...

Amber came out a mere moments later with the bags in her hands. She handed Alexander two of them before putting the other two on her. "Are you ready?" Amber asked as she moved closer to him, glancing out of the window. Alexander looked exhausted and she was beginning to wonder if it was a good idea for them- or rather him- to go out. Now she was wide away and knew what was going on around her. At the moment she was unsure of his abilities to do that. Though if Alexander thought he would be fine, then it was his choice. After all he knew himself better than she knew him.

Alexander nodded, and took the two bags from her, slinging them over his shoulder. He then headed out of the window, and up the fire escape to the rooftops once more. Once up there, he looked over the city briefly before beginning the runs across the rooftops. Once finally at the last one, he crept to the edge once more, and looked over down at the store again. There was quite a bit of walkers outside of the store this time, and he frowned at it all.

Amber followers him and moved to his right side when he finally stopped. She glanced over the edge, looking down at the walkers before letting out a small sigh. Now this was going to be much harder. After shaking her head a bit she spoke. "I am not too sure about this one." She whispered. "There are more of them this time around...Some may have gotten inside too..."
