    Lock/move if necessary.

I love to bake, always have. I like to experiment with recipes or go off book and make something up on the spot. For years I've made bread, from a bog-standard white loaf to enriched breads to pizza bases. Cakes a trickier, being a vegan, but it's fun to look around the internet and manipulate recipes. I'm a sucker for a good cookie recipe, too!

Do you like to bake? If so, what do you like to bake?

Perhaps we could share recipes, give each other tips, or basically just share our love of baking!

I love to bake! I've never experimented with recipes though, too afraid I'd mess it up and then subsequently anger myself.
I like making cookies, and cake, I really want to learn how to make croissants though. Have you ever made them?

No, but I always wanted to! I think I maybe made those ones you get in a tin as a kid with my mum, but they don't really count, do they? I've never had the opportunity to make any sort of pastry really - kind of worried I wouldn't be good at it haha.

Bread is my favourite bake - I've managed to keep my sourdough culture alive for nearly two months now and it's starting to get real funky in there. The last couple of loaves I made from it and the pizza base that came from a dead batch came out quite nice.

I love making cookies but I can never find a recipe that suits what I have in the kitchen! Plus, I'd end up eating them all myself Cheese

The only bread I've ever made is banana haha. And what do you mean by culture?! I feel like an idiot for asking, but I seriously have no idea what you mean.

When I find something I want to make I literally go and get ingredients if I don't have them. I need to get some dark brown sugar for the molasses cookies I want to make.

    Bring some to a neighbor!

It's pretty much the only thing I ever make because it's cheaper than buying bread haha. It's a sourdough culture, where you put flour and water into a jar and wave it around for a bit so the wild yeast in the air can grow, and you feed it more flour and water to make it gloopy and strong. You use it as a base and leavening agent for sourdough bread :) It might be called something else in America...

I'd love to be able to do that. A lot of the ingredients I need can be expensive (maple syrup, carob etc.) so I just bake cheaper recipes haha, but even then. That's the thing. I have all the time in the world to bake these days, being a student, but I don't have the ingredients or the money to get them!

I tend to just split a batch with my bestie, or take them to any family events. I don't really know my neighbours!

Ohhh. That's cool. I know what sourdough is, just not how it was made... Well now I do actually . haha.

    Maple syrup is expensive?!

And yeah. I live with three other people and sometimes I give stuff to my dad so. I bet your people enjoy it :)

I'm still surprised it still lives. I've tried at least three times previous to grow one and they always die because I forget to feed it haha. It's tricky to keep it he right temperature, too, especially when it's not been used for a while. It just sits in my living room at the moment. There are people who've had cultures for generations, I can't even wrap my head around that.

The good stuff is, and the cheap stuff isn't worth the effort! In fact, most delicious things are becoming expensive, or at least out of my price range haha.

I live alone and have the teeniest, tiniest refrigerator and freezer. If I had more space, I'd bake stuff and just keep it for ages and not have to go shopping 'cause I'd have cookies for dinner! They like it, but I dunno. I bet your family loves your baking :)
