Kiara's bangs were glued to her forehead by a thin layer of sweat. She had just spent the last minute or so racing through the halls of her high school, bag on her shoulder and a book in her hands. She had already been running late to a pre-school club that she was part of, a poetry club. Some said that it was ironic but she absolutely loved it and she was determined to be part of it.

She had always been a good girl, had gotten straight a's partly because her father being the high school principal demanded it. And partly because she wanted to make her parents proud. There had never been a disappointment for her parent's to suffer through because she was always so focused on making the grade. Her parents' approval wasn't the only thing on her mind now, scholarships to a college were also dependent.

Kiara wanted to be a famous poet but as a back up plan, she wanted to go to culinary school. There was a certain beauty to cooking that she enjoyed, being able to manipulate so many different flavours and make them work in a dish, plated perfectly to entice a customer. She wasn't sure what made her enjoy it but since she knew being a chef was more likely, she put most of her effort into that. Didn't mean she couldn't enjoy poetry while she was young enough to.

Bursting into the high school's main office, in hopes that whatever her father wanted to meet with her about wouldn't take too long and that she could still make her meeting, Kiara came to a dead step when her eyes came to rest on a boy sitting in a chair opposite her father. She flashed a nervous smile to her father but not before noticing the boy. Her eyes had drifted down his body for a moment, she couln't deny that he was cute. But the look of defiance on his features and the way he smirked when he noticed her eyeing him up, Kiara blushed and looked away quickly.

Kiara looked up to her father again and cleared her throat, hoping that her stuttering wasn't going to be an issue. Chronic stuttering had always beena thing with her and she was still working on controlling it, it just got the better of her sometimes. Mostly when she was nervous. She, for some strange reason, felt nervous in front of this boy. But she had no time to focus on that. Her eyes shifted back to her father as she raised an eyebrow, shifting her books to her other arm as her one was getting tired.

"What di-did you n-need, Dad?" Kiara asked, raising an eyebrow as she focused on her father now. Kiara winced a bit, but silently thanked whoever because at least her stuttering hadn't been that bad.

Carlos narrowed his eyes at Kiara, offering her a sly smirk when he caught her eyes trailing over his body. She had a stunning face, he admired her bright eyes when she looked away from him. She was a shy little girl with an adorable stutter - not to mention she was the principal's daughter. How incredibly tempting. Carlos ran his tongue along the inside of his teeth as he tore his hungry gaze away from her.

He'd been discussing some school regulations with her lovely father, as he was a new student here. Basically, he'd been sitting here listening to her dad relay meaningless words at him from a handbook like a drone. It was the closest thing to torture he'd ever experienced. For once, he was actually looking forward to school starting, so he could stand up and leave this awful room. It had a certain stench of mint.

The pen her father, Principal Westford, had given him, was heavy. It felt good in his hands. He twirled it around his fingers expertly, tuning into the beginning conversation. He looked over at her again, he couldn't help it. His eyes ran down her body as he tucked the pen into his pocket, deciding to keep it.

"Thanks for coming, sweetie," the principal said. "Actually, I was wondering if you would be able to show Carlos around a bit before school starts today." Principal Westford turned his eyes to Carlos, sarcasm heavy in his voice as he spoke again. "I wouldn't want him to, get lost, or, into any sort of trouble, you know."

Carlos felt his throat rumble angrily. Carlos would find his way around just fine, he didn't need any help. He almost protested, but then he realized that it wouldn't be too bad to follow this pretty girl around for a little. "Carlos, does that sound okay?"

"Yes," He cleared his throat. "Of course," Carlos agreed, smiling lightly in her direction. The principal turned back to his daughter. "Does that sound okay for you, Kiara?" So her name was Kiara, Carlos thought to himself. It suited her.

Kiara took a small step to the side when Carlos smirked at her, her stomach twisting and a bad feeling developing in her gut. But she said nothing, silent as ever as she returned her attention to her father. She smiled again when her father began to speak, cocking her head to the side and all too quickly, a slight frown had appeared on her features as she looked from her father to Carlos, and back again. And back one more time.

She wasn't sure what the hell she was feeling or thinking - Kiara had never once been attracted to a boy before and even now, she wasn't all that sure that was what she felt toward Carlos. Attraction. It was something she was so unfamiliar with that even if it smacked her square in the face, she wouldn't know what it was. Clearing her throat, Kiara chewed on her lip for a moment.

"I-I... have. My po-poetry c-club. If," she paused to swallow again, in hopes that the second would be enough for her to get a grasp on her stuttering again, "he is okay coming, I can. BUt I don't want to miss it," Kiara mumbled, staring down at her feet. She didn't know if he was going to be agreeable to such an offer - Carlos certainly didn't seem like the type of boy that would enjoy a poetry club. But then, she wasn't going to give up her likes for some stupid boy that would probably end up flunking out before he put any effort into graduating.

What Kiara had not been expecting was for Carlos to agree, though he did look a bit agitated by the idea. She shrugged it off though, deciding that it didn't matter. What he thought, nor what he did was going to affect her. She had better things to focus on. Schooling, her future career was of the utmost importance. Not some boy.

Turning around after she kissed her father on the cheek, Kiara began to rush out of the room. Right back on track once again. She had to make it to her club before it began, it was her favourite club and it only met once a week. "H-hu-hurry up! We-we are going to b-be late," she spoke loud enough that she hoped he could hear as she bounded down the hall, toward the school's library.
