The Truth May Hurt But Lies Kill

The alarm hadn't woken Mia that morning, so when she finally woke up, she panicked almost immediately. She was running late - and she couldn't afford to be late again. Quickly rushing to get ready, she got herself as sorted as she could manage to, before she rushed out of her home. She was in such a rush that she didn't bother with breakfast - nor did she really pay attention to checking the streets before rushing across them.

Kyle ran a hand through his hair as he finished getting ready to meet up with some friends. Coming to the bedroom, he looked towards Melina, arching an eyebrow as he eyed her for a moment. "I'm heading out," he eventually told her, though he was almost certain that she would disapprove. "Some of the guys want to go to the bar to hang out. I'll be back later." Not that it would likely mean much to her, but he was usually true to his word.

(I'm so sorry if this sucks. x.x I'm terrible with starters, haha.)

Jeremiah got up and made some coffee while he was getting ready for work. He worked at his fathers company but it wasn't really what he had wanted to do. He got dressed, poured his coffee and hit the road. As he was driving he saw a girl run out into the road and he swerved to avoid her, smashing his car into a tree.

Melina sighed. "Are you seriously going out agin tonight?" She asked more upset than mad or annoyed. "I feel like we never spend time together anymore!" She said stood up from the chair. "I was gonna make us dinner and then maybe we could watch a movie and cuddle..." She said with a pout hoping she would get her way. "Please don't go..."

Mia paused when she heard the squeal of tires and the sound of a crash. Quickly turning to see the car smashed into a tree, she cringed, realizing that it was probably her fault. Immediately feeling guilty, the girl rushed over. "Oh, my gosh, I'm sorry!" she apologized quickly when she saw the guy in the car. Chewing on her lip, she looked towards the direction of her destination and shifted a bit impatiently before she looked back to the guy. "Are you okay?"

Kyle sighed in response and lifted his hands to rub at his face, a bit irritated with the entire thing already. Though he didn't like hearing her upset, he wanted to spend time with his friends. "We'll do all of that when I get back, alright? I won't be out long," he told her, turning to the girl with a frown. "I just need a little time with some of my friends, is that so much to ask for?" In his opinion, he and she spent almost all of their time together - that was what he thought, anyways.

Jeremiah's first response was to cuss and flip out, which he did, but when he saw the girl he calmed down. "I'm fine, just a cut on my head..." He said and touched his head. "My dad is going to flip! This is a new car! Like brand new...like...oh my god!"

Melina didn't want to fight, it wasn't worth it if he didn't want to spend time with her. "Fine." She mumbled. "I don't really care anymore, I'm done trying." She added and got up, pulling his hoodie off that she was wearing and pulling on one of her own. "I'm gonna go for a drive or something." She said grabbing her keys and slamming the door, she had completely forgotten about the two little white sticks with little plus signs were in the garbage in the bathroom connected to their room.

(No worries! Mine are pretty short anyways. xD)

Mia cringed slightly at hearing the matter of his dad. "Do you want me to call an ambulance or something to get your head fixed up and to make sure you have no major injuries?" she asked quietly, a little unsure if any help from her would even be accepted. It wasn't like there was much that she could do, anyways. "I'm really, really sorry. This area doesn't get much traffic, so I figured it'd be safe and I wasn't really paying attention..." Chewing on her lip, she made her way closer, eyeing the damage of the vehicle for a moment before she stepped back again. "If there was something I could do, I would, but..." Well, there wasn't any way that she could do anything.

Kyle couldn't help but wonder if Melina was just over-reacting or if she had a point. How was he to know when he wasn't even sure what went on in the girl's head? Shaking his head, he went to the bathroom to fix his hair, though he frowned when he saw something odd in the garbage. He didn't dare touch it, but he could see it from where he was. Plus signs that screamed the news that caught him off guard. They gave him the extra desire to go to the bar with his friends, because he couldn't handle this; he couldn't handle the thought of being a father. So, he left the house, got in his car, and drove as quickly as he could to the bar to meet with his friends.

(And I passed out lol)

Jeremiah was in shock still over what had happened. "No, I do t want you to call an ambulance, I need to get some insurance information or something from you." He said and sighed as the gash on his head began to trickle blood. "This has to be fixed!"

After Melina had gone for a long drive and stopped to get something to eat she went back to their apartment. She was upset and afraid to tell him that there was a small being growing inside her. She took a long hot shower and crawled into bed before crying herself into light sleep as she waited for Kyle to get home.

(That's fine! Sorry, I wasn't on much yesterday. x.x)

Mia chewed on her lower lip and shifted uncomfortably. "I, um..." she muttered, trailing off before she cleared her throat and tried to speak again, "I don't have any insurance." She frowned slightly, glancing away awkwardly. "I don't know how to fix it or anything, I'm sorry."

Kyle drank to his heart's content and was forced to take a cab home. Stumbling into his home, he glanced around, a frown on his lips when he noticed Melina was already there. Part of his drunken mind could still remember what he had discovered, but he was too drunk to form proper words.

Jeremiah signed, this was going to be absolutely terrible. "Well maybe you could like work it off or something? My dad can use a new secretary...." He said not trying to sound like an asshole or anything.

Melina woke up upon hearing Kyle stumbling around. She wiped her puffy eyes and say up, Turing the bedside light on. "Are you seriously that drunk?" She asked a little upset but not sounding mad. "I just wanted to cuddle..." She mumbled and got out of the bed. "I'll be on the couch..." She said and grabbed her pillow and a small throw blanket.

(It happens, lol!)

Mia absorbed the information quietly for a long moment before glancing away. "I... I don't know. I'm not really qualified to be a secretary," she admitted quietly. But, then, she was pretty sure she was going to get fired from her job now, due to how late she was - and she did owe this guy, after all, so she sighed. "I guess I can try, at least."

Kyle frowned at the sound of her voice and looked over at her. "Are you seriously asking me that when you're keeping secrets?" he asked, his words slurred, but he was almost certain that they came out properly enough to be understood. "When were you going to tell me about the pregnancy, Melina? Or were you just going to keep it a secret forever?"

Jeremiah sighed. "Well I better call a tow truck and my dad." He said and pulled out his phone. "Can I get your contact information so I can talk to my dad and we can figure out how to get this all settled?"

Melina bit her lip. "Don't be like that Kyle! I just found out right before you got home! I wanted to spend the evening with you, I wanted to make dinner and talk about this." She said and look him right in the eyes. "I-I'm so scared." She whispered.

Mia nodded slowly before she sighed and shifted to hold out her hand. "Sure, I guess," she murmured, figuring it was only right. Plus, it would be easier than him having to try to find her again or vice versa.

Kyle stared down at her for a long moment before he sighed. "You should have told me right when I got home," he told her quietly, mostly just not wanting to admit that maybe he was wrong about it all. "Get some rest, Melina. We'll talk about it in the morning, when I'm sober."

Jeremiah handed her his phone as he watched her type her information in. "Thanks..." Her murmured and took his phone back. "I'm sorry, I didn't even ask if you were okay?" He said feeling a bit bad for only worrying about the car. "Are you okay?"

Melina took a deep breath and nodded sure he was drunk, but she was hoping maybe some sort of comfort could have been offered. She grabbed the pillow and blanket and headed out to the couch. She wrapped the blanket around her small frame and sat on the couch, she wasn't going to sleep a wink that night.

A sigh left Mia's lips as she thought over his question. Physically, she was fine. But, she was pretty sure she just lost her job due to her tardiness and that definitely wasn't a good thing. Regardless, she put on a smile and nodded. "I'm fine," she assured him, "You're the one with a busted head."

It was easy to take notice of the lack of warmth, but Kyle decided against thinking about it. Instead, he closed his eyes and tried to relax on the bed, banishing his thoughts about the fact that his girlfriend wad pregnant with his child. He wasn't even sure whether he'd be any good as a father and he knew he wasn't ready for it. The thoughts filled his mind as he drifted off.

Jeremiah rubbed the blood off his head and shrugged. "I'll be alright, but I better call a tow truck and my dad." He said and sighed heavily. "I'll be seeing you tomorrow, though, right?" He said, hoping he could trust that she would actually show up.

After a few minutes of sitting out on the couch alone, Melina got off the couch and grabbed her car keys. She wasn't going to sleep and hopefully driving would soothe her. She drove all night, just thinking about her life, and ow her and Kyle always fought anyway. She ended up in Chicago, where she pulled over and slept in her car.

Mia offered a nod in response to his question. "As long as you call to tell me if things are cleared with your dad," she assured him, though she was a bit nervous about this. She didn't even know what working for his dad entailed, but she had to try, didn't she? "Just... Make sure it's okay with him and I'll make sure to show up tomorrow, don't worry."

(I'll just skip to the next morning for Kyle, because I don't know what to write for him right now.)

When he woke up, Kyle had a hangover. Thankfully, though, he wasn't sick or anything. Sighing, he forced himself up from the bed, figuring that he should probably get some pain relievers, but he didn't know where they were; Melina usually handled that stuff. Seeing that she wasn't on the bed, though, he went searching for her, only to find her gone. With a frown, he called her, admittedly a little worried.

(Sorry I suck! I'm gonna skip to the next day)

Jerimiah looked at his watch seeing it was 8:45, Mia was supposed to start her secretary job that morning at 9. He had gotten it all figured out, and the damage to the car was far less than he had thought, and she would only need to work for about a month to pay it off. He grabbed a cup of coffee as he waited for her to hopefully show up.

Melina woke with a start, hearing her phone. She took a deep breath and answered the phone. She knew that he would be hung over and not knowing where the pain killers were, she knew him so well. "In the bathroom cabinet, top shelf to the left." Was how she answered the phone, she wasn't sure if she was going to tell him that she was nearly 500 miles away.

Mia had managed to wake up on time, though she felt incredibly nervous about working as a secretary. She had never really been one to enjoy people depending on her - and, as a secretary, that would be a key role that she'd have to play, to make sure things went smoothly. Dressed as professionally as she could manage on short notice, she arrived at the company, but she already wanted to turn and run away.

A frown etched its way onto Kyle's features, though he was at least relieved that she had answered the phone. At least that meant she was okay and it allowed his concern to lower a bit. "That's not why I'm calling, Mel," he told her before he sighed. "You're not home. Where are you? I thought we were going to talk about everything this morning? Do you know how worried I was when I woke up and you weren't here, especially when you're pregnant?"
