Tony was prepared to tell Mark that he could take all his 'free' shit and shove it where the sun never shined, but just as she opened her mouth her stomach spoke for her, reminding her that it's been quite a while since she'd has a decent meal, "Fine." She grumbled, sliding out of the cab, "But I'm only staying for the food." She crossed her arms over her chest, turning from him to head to the house, only to freeze. She'd been expecting something simple, but not a mansion. It was huge... and meant that this guy really was rolling in money.
    Edna
When she was done with that section Edna walked back to the main desk with Maverick. Mary had returned and teased her a bit about her new helper, but fell silent when Edna glared at her. As they day went on she'd worked with Maverick in silence, just enjoying his presence. As they prepared to close for the day she sent Mary home early before turning to Maverick, "Thank you for your help today, I really appreciate it."
    Faye
Faye grinned, a little bit of her true self getting past her mask of Andrea, "You like?" She asked, giving a little spin before becoming fully Andrea once more, "And I know that, but Andrea does like having some non-work related items. She's not all work and no play." She said softly before she began walking around his living room, "I've got the appropriate leather pants, short skirts, and halter tops at home for the bar." She returned her gaze to his, "So... what is it you'd like to go over with me?"

Taking his luggage, he thanked the cabbie and watched him drive off. Turning back to his pickpocket, he watched her reaction to his home. It was a bit ostentatious, to be sure, but it was big enough to house the entire family, as well as provide the privacy they needed to carry out their rituals free from prying eyes. “What do you think?” He asked. “Follow me.” He headed for the front door, hoping the place was in livable conditions. He’d only been gone a few days, so one would think things couldn’t have gotten too bad, but these were his siblings he was talking about. Specifically Murel. How the girl could make things so bad so quickly, he would never understand.
    Maverick
The day passed peacefully. They didn’t talk much, but he didn’t mind the silence. It was nice, enjoying the company of another human being without any demands or expectations. He took Edna’s coworker’s teasing good-naturedly, hiding the how the implications affected him. He was more than slightly grateful when Edna silenced her. He had such a good time that he completely missed the passage of time, and before he knew it, the library was ready to close.
    Mariah
“Like?” He snorted. “That’s an understatement.” There was no point denying it, he thought, quickly taking a seat to try and hide his burgeoning boner. It pained him to admit his reaction had nothing to do with his imp and everything to do with just how amazing she looked in that dress. “Sit down,” he said, kicking out the only other chair in the room. “We have a lot to cover, so listen up.”

When he didn't respond once again she continued on. "Well I am going to take that as a no then." She hummed a bit again before going back to her food. For a while it was quiet as she looked at the cats and ate. Though he started to pack up anything she didn't eat and set it to the side. Then she reached down and began to pet the cats but being extra careful with the silver tabby.
"How about sterling?" Amelia asked with a soft smile as she rubbed against her ears. She rather liked the name since it was a silver tabby. Though she wished that she could give a little nickname for the cat too. But she supposed she couldn't have everything. "Would you mind calling her sterling?"
    Victoria

Victoria took the contract and started to looking over it. It was a rather small contract but she supposed it was because it was for only 10 tours. She nodded to the manager. Everything that he was saying made sense. If they didn't like her after ten concerts then they could get rid of her. Though if they liked her then she would sign a new contract.
However this of course was good for her too. It gave her chance to leave without really having to quit. Just like they would find out about her, she would learn about them in 10 concerts. And if they were truly terrible then she would leave. But hopefully that wouldn't be the case.
"Yes that sounds fair to me." Everything in the contract seemed in order but after a few small questions with the manager she set the contract done and signed it. Then she handed it back to the manager.

"What do I think?" She repeated as she followed him to the front door, "I think you probably shouldn't let me in. A place this nice has to have equally nice things inside that I'll want to take." She narrowed her gaze on his back as he began unlocking the door. "Unless that's your plan. Now I get it! You want to catch me in the act of stealing again so that when you call the cops on me you can plan the 'I was just trying to be a good Samaritan!' card! I've got your number, buddy-boy, and it stinks!" She exploded into another bout of angry Spanish just as they entered the house, the words suddenly dying as she took in the expense of everything, "Santa madre de Dios..."
    Edna
Once she was completely finished with everything she turned to Maverick, giving him a soft smile, "So... yeah. Thank you, again." She lead him to the door, locking it up behind them after they exited. When she turned back around she only saw her car in the parking lot and frowned. Had he walked here? She sure wasn't going to make him walk all the way back at night! She with another smile on her face she took his hand and lead him to her car, "Come on, I'll take you wherever you want to go." She keyed open her car - a rusty pile of broken down junk that she could barely afford - and waved to the seat, "Just tell me where."
    Faye
Faye's brow lifted at his tone, but sat anyway. There truly wasn't a reason to push him any further, she didn't have a death wish. She she sat with grace, suddenly wishing she'd worn pants. Or at least something longer. With how short this dress was she was bound to give him more of a show than she'd anticipated.
With a little smile she reached for her shoe, "I hope you don't mind, but these heels are a bit higher than what I'm used to." She preceded to remove them, crossing her legs once she was through and pulling the hemline of her dress down... at least attempting to, "So, what would you like to go over?"

He blinked, giving the girl a sideways glance as she announced the name. “Sterling?” He said at last. He supposed it wasn’t half bad, but it wasn’t the kind of name he’d have picked. “If you want.” He shrugged, looking at the cats again. His imp was pushing him and it was getting harder and harder to deny the impulse to get close to her. He began pointing out the different cats. “Broken-tail. Ginger. Silver. Black. Bald-face. Mange. Smudge and Torn-Ear are missing. They don’t need names. Visuals are fine enough.”
    Matt
The moment the contract was signed, Matt gave a whoop, punching the air. “We did it! We got a guitarist!” A light sparked in his eyes that his bandmates knew all too well. So it was that he’d barely gotten out, “Time to celebrate!” Before he was drowned out by a chorus of “No!”
Matt gave them the puppy dog look, pouty lip and all. “Oh, come on! It’s L.A.! We’re what, half an hour away? How can you visit L.A. and not visit Disneyland! Victoria, don’t you want to go to Disneyland?”
Grant sighed, shaking his head, giving the impression that they’d had this conversation too many times. “Matt, look at the time. The park closes in like, twenty minutes. Besides, you know what would happen if we all went out en masse. It would cause a riot!”
    “But…Disneyland…” Matt pouted.
“Honestly,” Grant said. “How can one of the world’s biggest rock sensations be such a little kid?”

    @ Jaguar’s Heart

    Mark
Mark ignored Tony’s latest rant, moving inside. The house was grand and obviously worth a lot of money, but it wasn’t ostentatious. The entryway was subdued, leading into a large open space with twin staircases leading to the second floor. Mark had purchased the place for utility rather than looks, and this had been the house that had screamed ‘obscenely wealthy’ the least.
“Make yourself at home,” he said, relieved to see that everything was in one piece. “Everyone else does.” He placed his things by the staircase to move later, kicking off his shoes and lining them up neatly beside them. He stretched backwards, wincing as the cramped muscles slowly eased and the bones in his back cracked. He sighed, dropping his arms. Glancing over his shoulder and her, he said, “The kitchen’s this way. Follow me.”
    Maverick
He let her lead him around, unable to muster up the energy or even desire to tell her he wasn’t a child. “Thanks for the offer,” he said, following her out to the car. He looked the thing over. He’d spent some time as a mechanic a while back and could tell the car needed some work. “Just take me back to the café,” he said, “Thank you for the ride, you don’t have to.”
    Mariah
He was treated to a nice view as she sat, her dress riding up a little further up her thighs than she’d likely intended. He shamelessly looked, uncaring if she got offended. She’d put up with worse at the bar, he told himself, justifying his actions. But damn, did she look good. Crossing her legs only made his leer grow. Only when she spoke did he turn back to the matter at hand. Leaning forward, he looked her in the eye. “Let’s begin at the beginning…”

    Amelia

Amelia looked up at him, smiling once he started to speak. She was glad that he was starting to actually talk to her. Somehow she did something right. Amelia then looked at the other cats that he started to name.
"Is that what you always identify them by? Because in a way that is a name then. Besides visual factors are often names for pets- like ginger." Amelia told him as she brought the ginger cat a bit closer to her. "In that case then that is what we will call them. Except for the silver tabby if you don't mind...I like the name sterling." She gave him a cheeky smile.
    Victoria

Victoria's eyes widen in interest when they all started to argue about Disneyland. She was extremely surprised that Matt would want to go there. What Grant said was true. The man was one of the largest Rock sensations and he wanted to go to Disneyland? Not that she would mind going...
Victoria pushed her hair to the side. "Disneyland would be fun." She mumbled- mostly to herself. Though it was also true that the park was going to close before they even got there. Really going to the park was out of the question but Matt was right, it would be fun.

With wide eyes Tony followed Mark to the kitchen, letting out a low whistle, "You really live here? No shit?" She asked gaze trailing to him, "You haven't just lead me into some random person's home while they're unsuspectingly out on vacation?" She made her way to the tall stools at the counter and sat, resting her elbows on the counter and placed her chin in the palm of her hand, "Because I'll probably never leave this place if you do leave here. When ever you're gone next I'll just show up, eat some food, then steal some stuff."
    Edna
Edna shut the door behind Maverick and jogged to the driver's seat, turning to grin at him, "It really isn't a problem. The cafe isn't all that far out of the way." She put the key in the ignition, having to rev the car at least five times before it would fully turn over and start, "And anyway, I'm sure your brother would prefer this than you walking back."
    Faye
Once Mariah was done Faye stretched her arms up and yawned, the dress stretching a bit with her, "Well, since that's all done... what's the agenda for tomorrow? Any dress code? I've got a lot of Andrea outfits, but I'm not too sure which to wear." she propped her elbow on her knee and placed her chin on her fist, leaning forward, "I don't know this Girotti guy as much as you do."

He shrugged, looking at the animals. Of all of them, very few came close enough to let him touch them, distrusting strays that they were. The little silver –Sterling- was by far the friendliest. Most of the others had learned getting too close to humans got you kicked, like he’d learned, but not her. It was as if she craved attention, no matter what it was. He was starting to think this strange woman might be the same way. After all, she wouldn’t stop pestering him.
    Matt
Matt’s eyes widened in surprise as Victoria mentioned interest in the Happiest Place on Earth. “Really?” He said, awed. “You’d go with me to Disneyland?”
Before she could reply, his manager cut in. “No one is going to Disneyland! Or have you forgotten that we’re in the middle of our biggest tour ever with a new guitarist! You guys need to practice and get ready! The next show is in two days!

    @ Jaguar’s Heart

    Mark
“Yes,” Mark chuckled, moving to start pulling things out of the fridge. Someone, probably Max, had kept it well stocked, even adding a few more things. “I really do live here. A bit much for my tastes, but it works.” He set out the ingredients he needed, opting to make some pasta carbonara. He glanced at her, trying to keep his emotions from his face. He liked her, he found. She was feisty and independent, and more than a little fearless. It seemed his imp had done a better job than Maverick’s had. But it was too early to tell. Christina had started out different, after all.
    Maverick
He frowned at the car. Sounded like something was loose. Definitely in need of a tune up. Maybe he could give her a hand with that. Librarians didn’t make a lot of money, did they? “It’s not that big a deal.” He said at last. “I like the dark.” He sat, staring out the window as they drove.
As they approached the café, Mav was startled to see a large group of people huddled outside, appearing to be staring in at some commotion. Had something happened? Was Max okay?
    Mariah
“It’s a dive bar,” Mariah said. “Dress for it. Nothing too fancy. Leather’s good, tight clothes. Boots. Show a bit of skin, but nothing like this. And from now on, I’m Dick, you’re Andrea. Even outside of work. I never want to hear you call me Mariah again, got it?” He wondered if she realized that leaning forward like that gave him a nice view of her breasts. If not, he wouldn’t be the one to tell her.

Tony had gone back to gazing at the room around her and so missed the look that Mark had sent her. Once he started cooking though the smell was too much for her to deny and she found herself walking around the counter to his side, staring into the pot, "What are you making?" She asked in awe. Growing up on the streets didn't leave a lot of room for home cooked meals - or just meals in general - and so this was all fascinating to her.
    Edna
Edna's eyes widened at the crowd, trying not to hit anyone as she attempted to park, "What happened?" She asked as she got out of the car, manually locking the door before slamming it. The group of people didn't seem to her it though, their focus still riveted on the cafe. Taking Maverick's hand in hers - she didn't want to loose him now - she fought her way to the door, eyes going wide at the commotion within.
    Faye
Faye pouted a little, not because she believed it would have any magical powers on the opposite sex, but because she honestly couldn't see herself calling him 'Dick'. No, Mariah seemed to fit him... even if she wouldn't tell him that, "Okay, so leather pants and a tank? Maybe one that shows some navel?" She shrugged, sitting back in the seat once more, "Do you know if I'll be starting tomorrow - actually working the bar - or just talking to the boss?"

    Amelia

Amelia was very pleased with how everything had gone. Her current mood was rather easy to tell since it basically radiated off of her. Just as she was about to open her mouth, Amelia's phone went off and her eyes opened up widely.
Quickly she moved onto her feet, getting herself situated. Once she knew she had everything she tuned to the male, laughing lightly as she gave him a wave goodbye. "Goodbye mystery man!" With that done Amelia went off, hurrying herself to get back to work on time. They hated it when she was late. Which happened quite often.
    Victoria

Victoria gave Matt a sheepish smile before looking over at the manager. He seemed to just be a large ball of stress and she was not sure about him. Yes someone needed to keep everything together but there was something off putting about the manager and she was growing him to dislike him more every time he opened his mouth.
Since the manager seemed like he would pop a vein she kept her mouth closed about going to the park. Instead she focused on work. "What time and where should I be showing up for practice tomorrow?" With how things were going and with how late it was she assumed that they would not be getting anything done tonight. But surely they were going to get together tomorrow.

“Pasta Carbanara,” he said, setting the bacon to sizzle. It wasn’t long before the entire kitchen was filled with the delicious smell of cooking meat. “Would you like me to show you how?” It was a relatively simple recipe, easy to learn, and quite tasty. “Here, grab that spaghetti and put in in the put at an angle.” He was no master chef like Max, but he’d had to learn young how to cook in order to feed his siblings.
    Maverick
She seemed to be having trouble reaching the door so Maverick forced his much larger frame in front of hers, making room for her to walk as the leader became the led. Once they finally made it, he stopped, groaning. Why was he not surprised? The place had been cleared out to make room for a Maledire fight. Inside, his little sister was screaming at Max, who was just as loudly telling her off. They were so noisy he could hear them outside, though not what was being said. But he could guess.
Ignoring the ‘closed’ sign on the door, he walked in, still holding Edna’s hand. He was immediately assaulted by the volume.
“-ARE you take your eyes off him for even a second!” Murel was screeching, her raspy alto climbing up to soprano levels in her rage.
“He’s not a baby! It was fine! And he was talking to her!” Max roared back, stomping a foot.
Yep, his guess was right. They were fighting about him.
    Mariah
“Whatever’s fine,” Mariah said with a shrug. “Just be prepared for a lot of hands on your ass. Which is why I want you to stay behind the bar as much as possible. It’s safer back there. And any trouble comes up, just call me over. I’m the bouncer, it’s my job to stop that kind of shit. But not only that, I’m your partner now. Your senior partner. I have to take care of you out there, like it or not.” He shrugged again at her next question, frowning. “Who knows? All depends on if Girotti likes you or not, but my bet would be yes.”

    @ Mother.Of.Dragons

    Maddock
He watched her go, even more bewildered than before. He couldn’t make sense of her, and he found himself wanting to.
Go after her! His imp practically shouted at him as it buried him in sendings, the closest it came to actual words.
Shaking his head, Maddock ignored it, though it was a struggle. His lunch was over and he had to get back to work. Maybe after work he’d head up to Portland to see Max. Get a good meal and maybe get some advice. Max was good for that, though his advice wasn’t always the best. But he could present his problem in a way Max wouldn’t suspect anything. She was just some random woman who’d shown up and begun talking to him, and he didn’t know why. No need to involve imps and soulmates. Just a random woman.
“How about now?” Jake said. Looking around at them all, he continued, “Well? Why not? We still have the hall booked for two more hours, so might as well make use of it.”
Matt nodded. “Why not? We’re on a time crunch, so might as well make use of what we’ve got! He ran over to where he’d spent all day seated and picked up a large stack of sheet music. “Here, Vicky, this is everything we’ve played so far this tour. If there’s anything you don’t know, let us know, and maybe we can cut it, just so we can focus on giving them the best show possible.”

    Amelia

Amelia had other things to do. As much as she would just like to stay at the dock and learn about the mystery man she still needed to earn some money in her life. Though her job changed constantly, depending on what she wanted to do currently.
The next day Amelia got to the eating spot early and settled herself down. Upon seeing her the cats began to circle around, hoping she would give them good like the day before. Once again Amelia had gotten a can of sardines for the cats and was beginning to spread it out amongst them.
    Victoria

Victoria took the sheets of music, looking over the songs. No she did not know all of the songs that were there. Though if they gave her a few hours at home she would be able to get a few of them down enough for the first concert. But by the third concert she would have all of the songs down.
She set down the songs that she already knew to play pretty well. With the others she turned to Matt. "I can memorize all of these by the third concert for sure- maybe the second but I can't memorize all of them in two days." She knew a majority of the concert but there were a few more less main stream songs she didn't know.

She was already there when he arrived. And feeding his cats! He was surprised at the lance of jealousy that went through him at the sight. It had taken him ages to get even one of them to trust him that much, and here she was, canoodling with them like she’d known them their whole lives! He soothed his temper by reminding himself that these cats had known him their entire lives, and their parents had as well. Eleven years he’d been coming to the same spot, at the same time, six days a week. It was only natural they’d accept food there, even if he wasn’t around. Cats were fickle creatures. Well, there was no helping it. With a sigh he walked over, taking his usual seat. Sterling immediately abandoned the interloping woman to rub against him, happily accepting her usual handouts.
    Matt
“No need to rush it,” Grant said, raising an eyebrow at her confidence. “We’re looking for quality, not quantity.”
“Yeah,” Matt said, pleased by her eagerness. “Don’t worry about learning new stuff. We’re concerned about making what you know, better. Come on, let’s try Cursed again, you were a little loose on the riff.” Now that they’d entered practice mode, all thoughts of fun and play had fled Matt’s mind. Here was the professional she’d no doubt been looking for, the slavedriving songwriter who wouldn’t stop until everything was perfect.

Amelia looked up when the male sat down besides her. "Hello again mystery man." She greeted. Until she received his name that was what she was determined to call him. Anything else wouldn't fit quite as well and she refused to him a fake name.
All in all she was rather pleased that he still sat besides her. She was a tad worried that the male would try to avoid her if she sat down first but that did not happen. Either he was much too attached to the spot/cats or he was beginning to become used to her.
    Victoria

Victoria gave them a small nod before picking up her instrument again and checking the sound of it once more. They were right about the quality. It would take her more than two days to perfect all of the songs. Expecting that from anyone would be ridiculous. She would need work on all of them-some more than others. But given time she would be able to play them in her sleep.
Yet at the same time Victoria knew that they needed to play a certain amount of songs for the concert at a certain quality. Which was why she was determined to at least get the bare minimum down before the concert. It may mean that she would be solely practicing for the next two days but Victoria refused to disappoint.
So during practice Victoria made mental notes of what she had gotten wrong, what she could do better on and what the rest of the band said about her playing. By the end of practice her head was swirling with thoughts and she was ready to write it down when she got the chance. So while everyone else was packing up she was making notes on her sheets of music.

He grunted in response to her greeting, diving into his leftovers from dinner at the café. He hadn’t managed to get around to talking to Max; things had been fairly crazy, though that was to be expected whenever you put more than two Maledires under the same roof without Mark to keep them calm. But at least Max had sent him home with some proper food for his trouble (and as a thank you for saving his skinny little ass), as well as some good stuff for the cats. Max was the only one who knew about Maddock’s cats, and always gave him some scraps for them. Good brother, that one.

During practice, Matt had proved himself to be a harsh taskmaster, accepting nothing but the best from his musicians and himself. He was pleased and impressed by Victoria’s dedication. As the rest of the band packed up their instruments, he walked over to where she was making notes on her sheet music.
“Hey, Victoria,” he said. “You were great. Definitely still room for improvement, but at this rate you’ll be more than ready for the Chula Vista show.” He offered his hand, his trademark wicked-little-boy smile once again plastered on his face. “I think we should celebrate, even if we can’t go to Disneyland. It’s late enough, how about dinner? My treat?”

    Amelia

Amelia went back to eating her food. Still she questioned how to crack this mystery man. It wouldn't work to bombard him with questions especially since he seemed to ignore what she asked most of the time so far. He didn't really respond to most that she said. Her curiosity about him grew but she wasn't sure how to get him to speak up. Plus she was curious as whether he even liked her presence there- not that it was stop her from showing up either way.
She looked at him, her head tilted to the side. "Do you like it when people talk to you?
    Victoria

Victoria glanced up from what she was doing, to turn her attention to Matt. Her eyebrow lifted a bit when he said she was ready for the show. No she certainly did not feel like she was ready yet. Maybe after tomorrow but she felt like there were several things she had to get down before the concert. Though despite her feelings on the subject she gave him a small smile and shook his hand.
"Thank you and I hope you are right about that." Victoria said before moving onto food. It was late enough and she did skip lunch today. She was more than ready to go get food. Besides it would be unwise to refuse his offer of dinner. They did just hire her and this would give her an opportunity to learn more about them. "Dinner sounds lovely. Is there anywhere particular you would like to go?" She asked as se turned back to packing up.

    Maddock
He blinked, considering her question. He certainly didn’t mind when people talked to him, just as long as they didn’t blather on about idiocies or the weather or inanities like that. Or as long as they didn’t expect him to jabber back. Take his family. Get togethers were always a cacophony of noise and mayhem. And though he always separated himself from that, finding a spot of quiet in the chaos, he did enjoy it. The noise meant ‘family’ to him. It meant ‘home’. And if he was honest with himself, he didn’t mind her chatter either. She was paying attention to him, trying to draw him out. And while he didn’t consider himself vain or conceited, he had to admit it was nice.
But he didn’t say any of that. Instead he shrugged, rumbling, “If they want to, that’s up to them.”
    Matt
He could have jumped for joy when she agreed. “Excellent! First off, I don’t know about you, but I’m in serious need of a shower! You live nearby? My hotel’s not too far, maybe I could drop you off, run back for a quick change then come grab you, and we could plan from there?” It was getting fairly late, making their options fairly limited, but he spent enough time here on tours to know just where to find the good stuff. But as a native, or at least, more of a native than he, she might know something better!

    Amelia

Amelia glanced off to the side as she thought about what he said. That was neither a yes or a no and still she couldn't figure out how he felt about her chatting. She supposed that it was something she would just push to the side for now.
Amelia started to eat her food again, watching the cats as she did so. One of the more courageous ones came up to her and placed her paws on her knees, wanting more food.
    Victoria

"Oh no that is completely unnecessary. I can meet you at your hotel or at the restaurant." Victoria told him. "Besides my apartment is not that close anyways." Now that wasn't exactly true but Victoria did not want Matt going to her place. She barely knew him and he was barely above a stranger at the moment. Simply she wasn't comfortable with others going to get home until she knew them quite well.

“Don’t let them get too attached,” he said, watching her give the cats their treats. “They’re still strays. Got a job to do. Not everyone will feed them. They need to know that.” It was a lesson he’d grown up learning since he was six years old. Couldn’t count on anyone but yourself and your family. He was the closest thing to a family the little cats had, and even then he sometimes had to give them tough love. They knew better than to come looking for treats when he was working, for example. They might have been his friends, but he still had to put earning a living first.
    Matt
“Oh, don’t be that way!” Matthew said, at his charming best. “You’re in the band now! That makes you family! And family shares! So, let me give you a ride. Unless you drove your own vehicle, the hope that that wasn’t the case clear to see.
Around him, people groaned. “See? This. This is why there’s a ‘no girls rule’.” Jake grumbled. “Matt, stop hitting on the new girl! It’s a think called sexual harassment!”
Matt squawked, indignant. “I am not hitting on her!” He cried, lying through his teeth. “I was trying to be friendly! Since she’s new to the group, I just wanted to welcome her!”
“Oh, really?” Grant drawled. “Like you welcomed us?”
“That was completely different! Besides, girls are scary when you switch their shampoo for hair dye. Or at least, my sister is!”
